4.5 Deadly Stars!

A Deadly Sin was a page turner from the start, you will be searching for the clues right along with the characters. If you love Criminal Minds, Forensic Files, and/or CSI, you are going to love this one. A mixture of darkness, twisted love, and a ton of pieces that will leave you seeking revenge.

A cop, former FBI is on the hunt for a serial killer. That's about all you get from me. I don't want to spoil. But, it's so much more than your average murder mystery. The lines blur, secrets unfold, and lives are forever changed. I loved the details into every murder, it was like I had a badge and I was figuring out the puzzle. The murder scenes were written in great detail, no piece of evidence hidden, yet I was begging for more. A different spin at every turn, a light bulb would go off, then I'd be sitting in the dark without light for my puzzle. What I loved the most was the bits of insight into the killer's mind, as disturbing as it was, I didn't want to stop reading, I wanted more.

I have to say, this is only my second book from this author, but she has me hooked with her storytelling. I can't wait to see what's next.

Holly meat balls...wow,I mean what the hell did I just read???

Amazing,captivating and trully twisted story.
Mich and Thomas, cat and mouse...who would have the upper hand? I read this story in one sitting..and holly hell I did not excepted how it will end. The horror of twisted mind and disgusting murders, chasing for the truth, trying to find Eddie and let's not forget Mitch's past which finally engages him and he must exposing all of it.

I really thought that this is the story with a cliff at the end ( stupid me for reading others reviews before reading the book) but IT IS NOT!!! My mind just wonders in every possible directions of what could happend now after Mitch and Gabriel joins together!

Favorite Quote:

She growled, like an animal... She barred her teeth and I watched every muscle on her body tense. If she could, she would have pounced, she would have torn me limb from limb. She was like a caged animal; she'd regressed beyond the point humans walked on two legs. They'd broken her.

My Review:

Tracie Podger is an evil genius... and grr, I fear she has broken me. Far and away from my typical genre of women's fiction, I was totally enthralled with this twisted and diabolical story, despite the plethora of chilling and gruesome thoughts, memories, and crimes mentioned. This killer's story was creepy, eerie, gooseflesh-inducing, taut with intrigue and suspense, and ingeniously paced and expertly detailed to keep the reader on edge. A Deadly Sin reminded me of a cross between the Brad Pitt movie of Seven and Alfred Hitchcock's version of Psycho, but even better. I was totally invested and had remained engaged from page one until the worst thing in the world that could have happened - happened... I stamped my little foot, I turned the air blue with every obscene word I knew and even made up a few new invectives to hurl at Ms. Podger's likeness on her facebook page... She dared to end this fiendishly clever and addicting installment with an ungodly cliffhanger. Arg! How cruel and inhumane!?! I detest cliffhangers with the heat of a thousand suns! A pox on her for ruining me... but only after she writes the next equally intriguing book at the speed of light - and one that shall not end with another cursed cliffhanger. THEN a pox should be delivered! And it should be a really itchy one ;)

Murders start happening in a small town all with the reference of the Seven Deadly Sins. A small group of friends are being targeted and hints are being left at the murders sites. Detective Mitch Curtis has headed up the task force to solve the crimes, who is going to be next and why.

I absolutely love a good Thriller with a bit of Darkness and Graphic scenes. The suspense was off the charts and although parts were fairly easy to piece together there were many more twists that kept me guessing even more

I really enjoyed reading the exerts where the killer gave his thoughts and explained why each person was killed

Tracie has really out done herself with this story and I can't wait to more.

Mich Curtis left the FBI to return to his hometown to work on the local police force. When unexplained and gruesome murders start popping up on his doorstep, he is forced to look at a case that he could never totally solve and delve further back into his past, revealing a life altering secret.
As the murders become more personal, Mich must come to terms with the fact that he may be the catalyst driving the murders. Working in tandem with the medical examiner, Eddie, not only professionally; Mich realizes that while they connect physically, he cannot break through her shell to reach her emotions. When secrets are revealed and truths uncovered, the story takes an unexpected turn at will keep the reader guessing.
Tracie Podger weaves an intricate, tale of lives intertwined without the everyone involved knowing of the connections. The concept of the seven deadly sins is an intriguing backdrop for the storyline in A Deadly Sin. The book grabs the reader's interest on page one, the opening crime is unique and memorable. While the reader can read A Deadly Sin as a standalone, I can almost bet by the end of the book, they will want to read Gabriel. In that book, the reader was introduced to the main character, Mich, who was trying to solve the crimes there to set Gabriel's world in order.
A Deadly Sin is a suspenseful read, with just enough sexy bits to pique the reader's interest in Mich and Eddie's relationship. The characters throughout the book are well defined and the antagonist is more than a bit off balance. Mich's banter with his police friends is engaging, friendly and professional when warranted.
There are so many levels to this book, it is difficult not to provide spoilers. It's gritty, raw, disturbing, sensual, and thought provoking. The immediate crimes are solved but the overarching mystery is far from over. I look forward to the next book and Mich unraveling more of the mysteries in Ms. Podger's written tapestry.

'I've waited a long time for this,a long time to turn his comfortable life on its head,to destroy him.'

I finished this at silly o'clock in the morning, and sat for a good while wondering just what in the **** I'd spent the evening into the wee hours reading! Having read the previous book 'Gabriel', I stated in my review of it was what a MIND-F*** of a story-then THIS one comes along, and again I utter the label MIND-F***-it is GRIPPING,DARK,EERIE,GRUESOME,HEART-STOPPING,HAND OVER MOUTH WHILST READING WITH THE TWISTS AND TRUTHS AND UTTERLY AMAZING....I was sucked in from the beginning, trying to work out what was going to happen and then.....well that would be telling-Although it is a Standalone,I would advise to read 'Gabriel' as the web that has been spun crosses over and I can't wait to see what will happen next.

**Carla's Four Star Review

Mich Curtis left his high profile job with the FBI in order to get back to the "basics" of police work. When gruesome murders start occurring in his hometown, Mich must use all of his skills to catch the perpetrator. Of course, there are a lot of twists and turns, and he is taken on a roller coaster ride to discover just who the killer is as well as the reason behind the killings.

If you are like me and love a good thriller filled with lots of suspense, this is the book for you! This author has crafted a story line that will leave you hanging onto the edge of your seat with anticipation. This would have been a five star read, but, unfortunately, I didn't like the ending. I hope there is a follow up book that will answer all of the questions that I still have.

Tracie Podger is one of my favourite authors who always keeps my engrossed in her novels.

A Deadly Sin was no different. From the first sentence you are spellbound and will not be able to put it down. The premise was intriguing and you will keep guessing, or as in my case, writing down possible suspects!

Mich and Eddie are both intelligent, brooding and guarded characters. You feel that both of them have something in their past which has defined them and made them who they are. And when you find out what it is you will be floored.

Gripping, intense and full of plot twists that will leave you gasping out loud, “A Deadly Sin” is moving to my Top Ten reads of 2016.

It is HIGHLY recommended for those who enjoy a story that keeps you guessing, makes you think and wanting more.

FIVE STARS.

As usual I started this book as soon as it arrived. Drawn in quickly I found having the view from the detective and his adversary was intriguing.

This is not for

the faint-hearted. It is very descriptive and I had to take deep breaths a lot. I thought the characters were excellent and the story gradually played out in a rivetting manner.

I am looking forward to the next part of this story and the continuation of an exciting and thrilling tale which will give readers nightmares in the wee dark hours!!!!!

"I've waited a long time for this, a long time to turn his comfortable life on its head, to destroy him."

The malicifent intent of the perpetrator grips and intrigues from the first page, his utter belief that he is only doing what needs to be done is a major hook. Seven deadly sins, all of us guilty of most of them but to what degree... every sinner needs to atone yet for some the cost is life itself. Mich has left the FBI after a major unsolved case still haunts him. Returning to what he hopes will be a quieter life the bodies of high school students begin to reveal that something sinister is underway in the normally sleepy town. A serial killer with a plan and a connection to the lead investigator; with three sinners dead, four to go can Mich stop him before he achieves his goal?

As I'm a spoiler free zone A Deadly Sin is an epic dark thriller that had me leaving the lights on. Mich has to risk it all to try to end the killing, with secrets revealed he is left reeling with the consequences the truth unearths. The pieces of the puzzle are slowly slotted together yet the biggest picture isn't at all as expected. Written with devil on her shoulder I was struck by the level of description of the murder scenes, the intricacies of the plot and the insights into the mind of a very warped individual. This is my first novel by this author and I was enraptured by her talent to created a story filled with monsters, heroes, victims and villains I'll leave you to figure out who is who though. The plot is very cleverly woven with insights into the mind of the murderer, the race to solve the crime before its too late and any more people suffer. It's gripping, thrilling and most of all a powerful story with characters I want more of. I highly recommend this book and author.

A five star are you a sinner read?

If you've read Tracie Podger before, you know that she has the uncanny ability to weave stories that will keep you up at night, wondering what happens next. And probably pay extra attention to the dark corners just to make sure that nothing unexpected is going to jump out from them. Well, this story doesn't disappoint. It will catch you from the very beginning and make your head spin until the very end. Probably even after that. And don't be surprised if you find yourself sleeping with one eye open ;)

The truth is, I am not really sure how to review the book. My head is still spinning from this heart-stopping thriller. One of the things I really enjoyed about the plot is that it is unpredictable. No matter what you think will happen, you should expect that there is something else around the corner. I loved Mich and Eddie and their seemingly casual relationship. They are both intriguing, brooding and carry secrets that can destroy them. And unfortunately, the gruesome murders are entwined with their past, present and will leave deep scars into their future.

The idea of using the seven deadly sins as a backdrop in the story is simply genius. But then, what else can you expect from Tracie Podger :D Those of you who've read her before, know that she is one of the very few authors that will keep you on the edge of your seat and never let you down. And if you haven't read her yet, that's a huge miss on your part. So get your #oneclick finger ready and pick up your copy :)

Another absolutely brilliant book from Tracie Podger, I love her work and this book deserves much more than 5 stars. Brilliantly written, full of angst, twists galore, it is dark and gruesome and I loved it !!
Mich Curtis is a detective in his home town, once he was an FBI agent, but now content to be on home ground, that is until someone starts a killing spree of the local teenagers in his town and the killer is basing them around the seven deadly sins - Pride, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Lust, Sloth, and Greed. Now he is on a mission to find the killer before he strikes again. Of course this wouldn't be a Tracie Podger thriller without a few heart stopping, twisted dark moments along the way. The story is fantastic and will keep you guessing, have you biting your nails, gasping with utter disbelief and yet turning the page well into the night because it is addictive, fascinating and compulsive reading. I particularly enjoyed the parts in between chapters when we get to delve into the killers mind as he talks to you about each subsequent killing - totally remarkable writing !!!
This is a standalone but I would personally recommend reading Gabriel as this crosses over slightly with that book and you would get a better feel and understanding of Deadly Sin, and also Gabriel was a superb book and remains one of my favourites to this day.
This author is a genius in writing thriller and I cannot wait for the next book, totally incredible !!!

Detective Mich Curtis is involved in a gruesome case of murders with a group of teenagers being targeted. No clue of the one true target.

His casual relationship with the medical examiner 'Eddie' means more to him (and her!) if they are both honest. Having one another to 'forget' with during the horrific sins murders would see them both struggle in commitment.

A really good plot full of twists and turns. The bad guy in this story actually gave me the serious creeps. I think it's why I had to step back from this book a few times. But returning to it was a priority.

Excerpt:
People thought they were manipulating me but they weren't. I allowed them to believe that for one reason only. I was achieving my goal, knowing I had the backing of something powerful. When this was all over, I had protection.

The lengths that Mich goes to, including potentially losing his job and potentially his own freedom for the sake of something bigger than anyone expected is just the very beginning of a story that I can't wait to hear more about. The ending left me teetering on an already explosive high.

Final excerpt:
I needed to play the game he was. I needed to connect with him on a base level. To do that I was about to totally incriminate myself on record. I was about to throw my career out the window and possibly put myself in jail.

Having recently read and LOVED Gabriel, my first book by this fantastic author, I was more than excited to read A Deadly Sin and WOW !!!

What an incredible page turner, fast paced, thrilling and suspenseful, but not for the squeamish and faint hearted. This book will have you on the edge of your seat from the first to the last page and will have you feeling the fear and panic ..... and there is loads of that.

Detective Mich Curtis is an ex FBI agent and is on the hunt for an evil and deranged serial killer, who is following the seven deadly sins, Pride, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Lust, Sloth, and Greed with his old FBI partner.

As With the Book Gabriel, I ended up with more than just a little fictional crush on Mich (Tracie Podger knows how to pick them)

I can’t recommend this book highly enough, and without wanting to give anything away, I am really glad that I did read Gabriel first. If I could give more than 5* I would. Definitely in my top 10 for 2016

My only disappointment is that I now have to wait until March 2017 for A Deadly Mission.

What an ending !!!!!!

Holy freakin shit!!! Have you ever come across a book that was so much more than you could've possibly anticipated? Well is that type of book!!!!

Talk about a page turner... an angst ridden, mystery fuelled rollercoaster that will have your head looking for the clues and answers right alongside the detectives.

And that ending.....FUCKK!!!!!!! I want more...no I NEED more!!!

My heart is going like the clappers right now with apprehension.

Tracie has delivered one hell of mind fuck, rollercoaster ride of a book which you will not want to get off from. She will have you hooked and fully submerged from the very first page and you will love every single second of it. The imagery, the sheer attention to detail...you can picture scenes perfectly. You can smell what the characters smell and you can feel the fear, the frustration and the panic they feel.

This is a book you need to read. It's simple as that really. I can't even go into details about the book itself as I'm still trying to process everything but I implore you to read it. You won't regret it, i guarantee it.

I wanted to give this book more than 5 stars.
Detective Mich Curtis is a policeman back in his home town. He and his partner, Dean are called to a body in the high school, its the body of a girl who has been missing for a few days. This takes the team on a rollercoaster of a ride to discover who is on a killing spree and why?
I loved how the author interspersed the chapters with the killers POV, which slowly reveals the story to the reader.
I absolutely loved the twists and turns this book takes you on, and if you love a good murder story(which I do) you will love this book.

A Deadly Sin is about ex FBI now Police Detective, Mich Curtis. He begins to investigate a series of murders in his home town and is shell shocked to discover a link between them all. After each murder, Mich begins to realise the killer may be playing a dangerous game and Mich Curtis is the final piece of the puzzle.

What a total mind f**k. This book was insane. It was crazy. It was gruesome. It was a perfectly written thriller suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire story, hanging on the last sentence. This author has the ability to write a story that keeps you hanging, keeps you guessing, and keeps you grasping for ideas, page after page.
Her ability to write such vivid details and descriptions is top notch. It’s absolutely incredible. You won’t have a single moment where you’re scratching your head guessing what’s happening. She lays it out for you, word for word, just like a perfect painting. The story details are crazy. The characters are equal part crazy and insane. The story feels like I stepped into an episode of Criminal Minds for lack of a better description. I happen to absolutely love the show but I only reference the story because her writing mimics the way in the tv show the characters get together and try to solve the case and the steps they take in getting information and solving it. I think the author did an absolute phenomenal job researching and having the ability to write such a great story.
So, would I recommend this book? You betcha! However, first, I definitely recommend to read her story “Gabriel” as it is referenced several times in this book, then prepare yourself for a wild ride. I cannot wait for book two to come out, without a question; I will for sure be reading it. I have to know more. I’m addicted to this authors writing now.

A Deadly Sin is a follow up book to Gabriel. Although it is considered a standalone, I suggest reading Gabriel first. Not only was it an amazing book, but this one mentions things that were revealed in Gabriel.

A Deadly Sin revolves around Detective Mich Curtis, who we were introduced to in Gabriel. It was a fantastic story! This author has a gift for leading the reader into one sick and f'd up world. Once you think you have things figured out you're thrown a twist you didn't see coming.

The story is told from Mich's point of view. However, the start of every chapter gives us a couple pages worth of the killer's point of view. I liked how that added another element to this story. I definitely recommend reading this one! However, there are some sick and gory things described in detail. It's definitely an 18+ novel.

This ended, I felt, in a huge cliffhanger so I'm really hoping there will be another book revolving around the main storyline for both Gabriel and A Deadly Sin. I've read Harlot, which is considered an accompanying story. It was excellent, too but didn't give us much with Gabe and Mich. Whether the next thriller by this author goes along with this storyline or not, I'll anxiously be waiting to read it!

I have read a few works by this author and I swear she does this on purpose. First she grabs you and pulls you in and then she twist it up so badly that she has you grabbing and fumbling and nothing works out the way it's supposed to it just flies off in the direction you never expected and you end up saying WTH!! Whew!! I feel so much better. Mich's life wasn't perfect I mean it was alright but he was ready to make some changes. Eddie gave and took exactly what she wanted out of their relationship and yeah she was the one in control. This is one of those reads where everything you think you know is a lie. Everyone you think you can trust can't be trusted. By the end of the book, as the story unfolds, you find yourself reeling from the results and still needing answers. Mitch has to change his strategy as each piece is revealed yet still left with so many questions, especially when his past that no one knows about is brought to light.

It's an amazing read that will haunt you as this author is good for. She takes real life and spins it so well you can't stop no matter how much part of you wants to. What starts as a murder investigation leads to so much more. The manipulation and game play is nothing short of masterful as this author feeds you a story filled with everything from murder to more than you can imagine. Loved it from start to finish.

Pride, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Lust, Sloth, and Greed.

Tracie has done it again this book. It is well written and such a fantastic story it will have you guessing a lot of the way through.

Once I started it and couldn’t put it down, the suspense was great the story was brilliant it kept me hooked trying to work out who was the one doing the killings…

So much happens in this book great Twists I really didn’t see coming,

It is a Fast-Paced Mystery. some parts I could say are dark but not done in deep detail.

Mich Curtis after he leaves the FBI becomes a Detective back in his home town, but what starts as a simple murder case turns out even more deadly than expected.

Someone is Murdering a bunch of Teenagers and using the seven deadly sins as his reasons or is it the reason?

I loved the Twists in this book and the secrets that came to light I didn’t see or expect them…
If you love Tracie’s books you have to pick this one up…

I really can’t wait for more from Tracie.

Ooooh a new thriller from Tracie Podger, I so needed to read this! I am a fan of this author so really couldn't wait to read it. Well what can I say….Brilliant, fantastically written, 5+ thrilling stars! It got those nervous, on the edge butterflies going many times!

Mich Curtis (whom I love) is a detective and is investigating a murder, a sick, brutal murder. This escalates and soon he's on the hunt for a serial killer and it's a race against time to catch him. Of course there are a few twists and turns on the way!

I started this and it was one of those you could not put down, my phone came everywhere with me and I mean everywhere! I even had a sneaky half hour in the supermarket car park. It consumed me the whole day. The times I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. I finally got peace, so I sat and devoured the rest of the book. I'll be one clicking the next book as soon as physically possible! I highly recommend you one click this if you've not already!

✨🌷REVIEW🌷✨

A Deadly Sin by Tracie Podger

What an absolute mind fuck of a story. Yes Podger! This is exactly what I've been waiting for!!
This book had me in its claws from the get go and would not let me go! I was enthralled with the story, desperate to find out what was happened and who did what. I don't want to ruin any of this for anyone by riddling my review with spoilers, but by gosh, BUY THIS GODDAMN BOOK.
You won't regret it.

5 awesome stars.
