Relectura en noviembre-diciembre de 2024
Han pasado 4 años desde que lo leí por primera vez y mi opinión apenas ha variado. Lo único que destacaría es que, en esta relectura, la escasa presencia de Sherlock me ha resultado más ilógica y decepcionante porque no tiene ningún sentido que apenas parezca implicarse en la desaparición de su mejor amigo. En todo caso, Enola sigue siendo una protagonista maravillosa y siempre es un placer acompañarla en sus aventuras. Hoy en día le daría un 3,5/5, pero no cambiaría nada de lo que puse en la reseña original, la cual podéis leer a continuación.

Tras Enola Holmes y el misterio de la doble desaparición y Enola Holmes y el sorprendente caso de Lady Alistair, por fin he podido leer la 3º novela gráfica sobre las aventuras de Enola Holmes, y debo decir que mi cariño por este personaje aumenta cada vez más.
Al igual en con las partes anteriores, aquí Enola trata de resolver un misterio y también se dedica a buscar a su madre. Lo único que le impide moverse con total libertad es que no quiere que Sherlock y Mycroft, sus hermanos, den con ella.
Una cosa que me está pareciendo curiosa es que lo de la madre está ya en un completo segundo plano. Enola está aprendiendo a seguir su propio camino y, a pesar de tener solo 14 años, ya es totalmente independiente. Las menciones a su madre son cada vez más reducidas y creo que ahora Enola se está conformando con saber que está bien gracias a los mini mensajes que le hace llegar. Por un lado, lo veo correcto porque supongo que lo de la madre se resolverá en la última novela y no tiene sentido que eso eclipse a los casos que Enola investiga en cada libro, pero, por otro lado, me gustaría que se dieran más pistas sobre las razones de su madre para esfumarse de un momento a otro. Aquí apenas hay dos o tres menciones a la madre y es de forma casi anecdótica.
En referencia a su familia, otra cosa que sí que quiero destacar es que me gustó que, aunque fuera al final, Mycroft hiciera una pequeña aparición. A pesar de que me cae mal, no le veía sentido a que pareciera que no le importaba en absoluto la desaparición de su hermana. Sherlock volvió a perder relevancia, lo cual sí que fue una pena, porque el caso a investigar debería haber hecho que tuviera una participación mayor…
Watson ha desaparecido y, según se entera, Enola no puede evitar querer resolver este misterio. A pesar de ser su gran amigo, no se cuenta nada que haga pensar que Sherlock está currándose la investigación para encontrarlo, por lo que es Enola quien lleva todo el peso del caso. Vemos cómo su capacidad para camuflarse es excelente y cómo su capacidad deductiva va siendo cada vez mejor. En este aspecto noté una mejoría respecto a los libros anteriores. Puede que no sea complicado adivinar cuál será la resolución del caso, pero está más trabajado el modo en el que Enola obtiene respuestas que verdaderamente justifiquen que luego sea capaz de llegar a determinadas conclusiones.
Es fácil pasar las páginas sin apenas darte cuenta. Enola es un personaje entrañable al que da gusto acompañar e, increíblemente, nunca disminuyen mis ganas de saber más sobre ella.
El trabajo artístico continúa siendo impecable. Es increíble cómo la ilustradora siempre sabe cómo hacer que cada personaje transmite lo que corresponde y que Enola siempre esté rodeada de un halo de dulzura y que no por ello parezca infantil. Adoro cómo se cuidan los detalles y el buen uso de todos los colores.
Si tenéis ocasión, os animo a darle una oportunidad a Enola :-)

Retrouver Enola Holmes sous le coup de crayon de la talentueuse Serena Blasco est toujours un vrai plaisir. Plaisir trop court mais vraiment un beau livre, de belles couleurs, un beau graphisme. Bref, j'adore.

What? Enola Holmes is Sherlock's little sister(?) who is avoiding her family and also solving crimes. In this one, Dr. Watson has gone missing and the only clues are some odd bouquets and a man whose nose fell off.
Yeah, so? Kiddo didn't really get into this. Eventually we learn that the villain is a woman whose nose got chewed off as a kid, which is pretty graphic and morbid, and there's a rooftop escape, and a body buried in a greenhouse. But even with that, this wasn't quite hitting for us.

The plot is interesting, although it’s way to fast paced to be immersive. I understand this may be because this is a graphic novel. The plot is also way to convenient for there to be any real stakes. The climax is practically non existent because of the fast paced nature of the book. It’s just one action after the other, and we never really get a break to process what is going on.
When it comes to the mystery aspect, there is really no suspense because of the pacing.
The characters are reasonably layered and their motivations are relatively clear, although Sherlock Holmes is constantly misrepresented all throughout the book. He is way to naïve, and to be frank, stupid in some cases to truly give us the same feeling as Doyle’s Sherlock. As an avid fan of Doyle’s work, this can be really frustrating because he is very important to the plot, but his actions just don’t make sense with the Sherlock Holmes we know and love.
The relationships between Enola and her mother and Enola and her siblings are explored a little bit, but you’re left asking for more.
On the bright side, the illustrations are absolutely stunning, and are well worth the mediocre storyline. I also really enjoyed Enola’s notebook included in the back, as it gives us a little more insight into her reasoning.
That is something that Doyle’s books don’t do, explain the reasoning as we go. Blasco does a great job at explaining Enola’s reasoning, which, although maybe removes any suspense left from the fast paced nature of the storyline, is way more interesting for the viewer.

Dans cet opus, la jeune Enola enquête sur la mystérieuse disparition du Docteur Watson. Elle déploie une fois encore des trésors d'inventivité dans ses déguisements. Il se pourrait d'ailleurs que la responsable de la boutique d'accessoires de théâtre où elle s'est fournie ne soit pas étrangère à l'affaire.
Langage floral, internement et secrets de famille, une fois encore la jeune fille résout l'affaire de main de maître, toujours dans l'ombre. Peut-être un jour pourra t-elle oeuvrer sous sa véritable identité.
Les graphismes sont toujours aussi beaux et les mises en pages sont très originales, planches en spirale ou en fleur.
Une série pour les amateurs d'enquête, très réussie, hâte de lire la suite pour savoir si Enola parviendra à retrouver sa mère. de nouveau, de belles réflexions sur le statut de la femme dans la société victorienne.

So, my French is terrible (which, oddly enough, is spelled the same way in both languages.) So, I read this graphic novel in English.
I loved it! The art was wonderful and the story is excellent. Our heroine is still on the run from her brothers. (Sherlock Holmes? Hmmm. I wonder if he actually knew where she was and let her stretch her wings?)
She is on the search for Dr. Watson and is using the knowledge her mother gave her about flowers to find clues.

(I'm reading the English editions) Yet again, another great adaptation of the middle-grade novel. I don't remember every detail of the series, so it's great because I can't nitpick. But Blasco does a good job of hitting all the key elements of each mystery and fleshing out Enola enough so that she's a character you feel you're getting to know. And of course, I love the art!

Podobne do poprzednich części, ale jednak trochę się różni. Daje 4 gwiazdki, ponieważ mimo super przedstawienia fabuły od 1 części przejawiają się te same wątki, które wciąż nie zostały rozstrzygnięte i robi się to już trochę nudne.

December 18, 2025I read the edition that included three of the stories in one book. This review applies to my thoughts on the other two as well.
The novels are much better than the graphic novels. I don’t like how the stories were rushed (I do understand that they sort of have to do that for graphic novels though). I also deeply dislike how they changed some details of the plot in the adaptation. But, I do appreciate the beautiful artwork. It must have taken a very long time to add in all the details. I don’t like how the adapter(s?) pushed their political views/ideology onto children - the target age group. The mysteries, however, are intriguing, and I will definitely read the next book of adaptations.

Flowers play a huge part on the Enola's series, being the way she's able to communicate with her mother through newspaper articles, and in this new case, the most macabre and deadly one, Enola is faced with a deadly challenge: find Dr. Watson before it's too late. Through the clues left by malevolent bouquets given to Dr. Watson's wife, Enola is able to piece the pieces and solve the mystery before someone else gets hurt. Once again, I loved how Enola keeps evolving her skills and paying to the little details that escapes Sherlock Holmes eyes. The illustrations are also incredible to see and I could spend hours just looking to all the little details in each one!

The artwork continues to be spectacular. In this case, we have an interesting switcheroo. Poor Dr. Watson is missing and the clues all lie within the beautiful flowers. The costumes keep getting interesting and inventive for Enola Holmes. I just wish this mystery was a bit longer. And I always appreciate the extra journal and notes taken to solve a mystery.

I love the story. I liked this one in particular. Still not a fan of the drawing/art style.

The art work is as beautiful as always. The storytelling is a tad too jumpy though and you don't feel like you're solving the case with her, but rather hearing it from someone who doesn't remember the details.
