“IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOU'RE FROM-- OR HOW YOU
FEEL…..THERE IS ALWAYS PEACE IN A STRONG CUP OF COFFEE.”

I could resonate with these lines than most anything I have read in a while.

I randomly came across this comic, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most relatable things I have ever read.

here we meet bras at 28, and the events from salvador are altered but they're still tragic.
it's interesting that in this life, his relationship seems to be better with his father, because he's not as bitter about his own literary ambitions? but my heart breaks for him, he can't catch a break!

Bras' girlfriend from Salvador breaks up with him. The emptiness and grief one feels after a breakup is portrayed well, philosophically and artistically through words and sketches. Loved the discussions about the emptiness of life("desert city") and how precious moments are in relationships/love.

I remember when we first met. I told her I wanted to be a writer and that I knew a great romance was waiting for me to write it. She smiled and said that she hoped a great romance was waiting for me to live it.

A melancholic masterpiece about heartbreak and hope

At 28, Bras faces the devastating end of his seven-year relationship with Olinda. The issue opens with brutal honesty: "I hate you - you piece of s***!"- her parting words that set the tone for 22 pages of raw emotional vulnerability.

Authentic heartbreak: Bras wanders through São Paulo seeking solace but finding none - a perfectly relatable portrayal of post-breakup despair.
Jorge's return: His best friend provides much-needed levity and genuine care.
Stunning color work: Dave Stewart's palette shifts from muted blues and greens during depressing moments to warmer reds and oranges for hope.
The art exhibition sequence: Moon and Bá stretch their creative muscles beautifully

Father Benedito's wisdom anchors the story: "Each day we watch as our city turns into a desert, one in which we are all lost looking for that oasis we like to call love." This desert metaphor becomes the chapter's emotional core.

The climax redeems the melancholy when Bras meets Ana at the bakery shop. In a single moment - "Heart"- everything changes. Their connection is immediate and profound, showing how love can appear just when we've given up hope.

The ending follows Daytripper's pattern but feels earned rather than formulaic. This issue captures the universal experience of moving through heartbreak toward new possibilities, proving that sometimes the oasis appears when we least expect it. A beautiful meditation on love, loss, and second chances.

Highly recommended.

Third read of the day. A metrobus read this time. For a moment I thought it was going to be the first issue that he wouldn’t die. Then he died…
Also I just realized since he writes about people’s deaths for the newspaper, he writes his own deaths at the end of each issue. I don’t think I was aware of this when I first started reading the series. I don’t think I was even aware that he wrote deaths. So glad I started over.

“Daytripper” by Fábio Moon, Gabriel Bá

Sobering! Original and unexpected. A story about stories of alternative endings to a man’s life. One of the best artists I have seen. I could not put this book down!
