3.75 stars. I liked all the main characters in this story and found the setting and story to be refreshingly different, and there were some twists I didn't see coming. While the sex was really hot, it felt to me like the main story was between Leo and Jet, and Cora seemed to be a bit of an outsider at times, though by the end, they seemed to form a more cohesive unit. Overall, quite enjoyable!

I have never been disappointed with a book by Nicole Stewart, and this one has kept the streak going strong! I received an ARC copy from the author.

Road Hard is a beautiful story, unfolding the relationship of the lead characters (Jet, Leo and Cora) from being long-ago friends who had secret impressions of and desires toward each other (never acted upon), to current-day acquaintances who discover their connections are deeper and stronger than they ever thought possible. The characters are beautifully written as having the best of intentions every step of the way, but being fallible in the execution of their actions.

The story flowed gently at the beginning, building up the plot, providing history and backstory. Toward the middle of the book, the pace began to quicken while still progressing naturally, delving into the here and now, and the trio's trials and tribulations. By the time you got toward the last third of the book, the story accelerated to a tremendous and fast pace. The storytelling took off and I couldn't get to the next page or chapter fast enough.

Although the book is built around a MC, it did not take the traditional MC route of 'the club is everything and the rest of the world can go to h**l.' The club felt more like another character with a role to play, and an importance to the story and motivation of the characters. It wove seamlessly into the rest of the story, solidifying pieces of the plot along the way.

And of course, there is the polyamorous relationship between Jet, Leo and Cora. As the reader, we were privileged to have insight to their inner monologues and thoughts. Even without that additional insight, you still would have seen the relationship unfolding in a slow and cautious manner. It didn't feel forced or rushed in any way. You rode along with their hopes and fears, wants and desires, feelings of certainty and doubt. This really helped to show the relationship building on something more than just the threesome. It was based on true connections between them as individuals, as couples, and as a trio.

Once again I have to say that Nicole Stewart's writing has never disappointed me. And she's still batting 1.000! If you like romance, believable characters and a story you can get caught up in, Road Hard is definitely for you!

This is my first time reading a Nicole Stewart book and I'm diggin it. This was suspenseful, thrilling and scorching hot. With the perfect amount of M/M, M/F and MFM the passion and chemistry was sizzling right through the pages. I read this in one sitting. I could not put it down.

I loved the differences between the two male MC's. The good cop and the bad biker. Yum! Cora definitely does not lead an easy life and has way too much shit thrown at her but I loved her determination to hold her own. Loved the guys' protective nature for each other and for Cora and her little brother.

I didn't know what to expect going in but Nicole Stewart held me captive from the very beginning. Great story line, great character development and great relationship dynamic. There were some editing issues that ugh do grate on my nerves but nothing too drastic that messes with the overall flow of the story. I definitely recommend giving this a read and I will surely be picking up another Nicole Stewart book in the very near future.

OMG best mmf book so far!!

By Mrs a l Taylor on 28 November 2016

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book, And what a book it is, this is the best mmf book of Nicole Stewart's so far!
It's about 3 friends that grew up together and then went there separate ways, Cora was looking after her alcoholic mother and bringing up her brother, her ex boyfriend jet was part of a motorcycle club and has just moved back to Town after years away and then their is Leo who has been promoted to sheriff, when Leo & jet meet you can feel the crackle of electricity all through the book add in sweet Cora and bang what an explosion it becomes, it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through, it's a must read it will not disappoint....

Good

The story was fully of untrusting people. I was wondering if no one trusted anyone how was a crime going to be solved. The police department was torn in two with two stubborn people in charge. What I didn't like about it was that the sheriff couldn't control his deputy chief. But, in the end he proved her wrong and the people being looked at as criminals were vindicated.

Really wanted to 5 * this book

I rarely give anything less than a 4*. The romance was spot on 5 star rating and the characters were perfectly built. However, there were several inconsistencies and holes in the plot that left me shaking my head and confused. If you don't mind that then this is the perfect romantic plot twisting story for you!

Good story

High school sweethearts meet back up with the best friend and sparks fly. Things get complicated with on being prime suspect in a local crime spree and the other being the new sheriff in town. Little brothers, alcoholic parent and family issues round out the tale. Steamy sex and a hea ending. I'd recommend it.

Too many eye roll moments for me. I know NS books push the boundaries of unrealistic events, but it is fiction after all. However this one made me cringe. I'm not going to slate it, as NS can write a good story, for me, this wasn't one of her best.

Nicole Stewart is a new author for me and one that I will continue to read. She's written some great, sexy, smart characters. And Road Hard had excitement, intrigue, and love. What more can a reader ask for when buying a book written by an unknown author to them.

Boring

Difficult to believe Stewart wrote this. It's like starting in the middle and continues to lack continuity. Save your money and buy something else.

I felt the need for something a little different than my normal reads, and this book fit the bill. There was some mystery, some intrigue, and some totally hot scenes between the characters.

Something that might be weird, but I enjoyed with this book, was that there wasn't a lot of set up for several scenes. You were just immersed in it, and then a bit of backstory was given. For example, there was a scene where the three main characters were in a field and then they were in someone's home and I liked that it just happened, and then there was an explanation about the passage of time. I liked it.

Can't wait to read more by this author! It was a good story, on top of hot scenes!

Cora is a young woman living on the edge of failure. She can't pay the rent on the house she shares with her mother and brother. Her mother is an alcoholic who is willing to steal Cora's money to get booze. Her brother, Paul, is angry at the world and doesn't think his actions through. Cora knew Leo and Jethro when she was in high school. Leo decided after high school that he wanted to be a cop. He has just been elected town sheriff. His second in command constantly undermines his authority causing them arrest the wrong people for some crimes. Leo knows he's bisexual but he is shocked when he is attracted to both Cora and Jethro. Jethro lost his entire family when he was in college. The loss caused him to drop out of school and start a car repair shop. He is the head of a motorcyle club. He has never forgotten Cora or Leo but he is afraid to allow anyone into his life again for fear of losing them. The three friends took very different paths after high school but reconnect when life pushes them back together.

I enjoyed this story but I wouldn't say that I loved it. I liked the fact that all three characters embrace their new and unconventional relationship. They don't spend every minute with each other and the reader gets a pretty good look at their separate lives. Cora is a very likable character. There were times I wanted her to scream her feelings to the world but her reserved responses were far more realistic. Jethro was a source of constant frustration. I know that the author wanted to make him complex but he often came off as somewhat stupid. Many of his decisions made no real sense and only served to cause him more trouble. And in the end, it's almost as if all of the actually illegal things he did were simply forgotten! How does that work? And then there's Leo. Mostly I liked his character. He has a strong family. He likes being sheriff but doesn't love it. I really wanted to see him grow a backbone and stand up for himself. By the end of the story he had done a little bit of that growth.

I was disappointed with the story because it was good but felt incomplete. For instance, motorcycle club versus motorcycle gang. At the beginning of the story the author sets up the fact that most people don't know the difference. Ok, that's great because that's a chance for character growth. But, Jethro and his club do "enough illegal things" that I question if maybe they were beginning to become a gang instead of a club. But wait! The only illegal thing the club does is an occasional illegal street race. Hmmm, I'm waiting for something more. Then Jethro breaks the law (it's a clear violation). Ok, is there a history? What makes him think he can get away with it? And then it's just forgotten. I think what threw me about this story is that after reading it I still can't describe the people, the places, the motivations and that bugs me.

If you like MMF stories, give this a try.

I voluntarily read an advance readers copy of this book.
An unlikely trio from the start!
They are all as opposite as you can get between three people. Jet, rough and wild. Leo, straight laced and sensible and Cora, quiet, unassuming.
You accept the inevitability of them gathering back together after such a long time apart. It's almost as if they are drawn to one another, each being a missing part within each other. Their clashing personalities infact, complementing and drawing the best qualities to the surface of their characters. But you can see the huge effort it take to reconstruct the relationships.
You wonder if Jet sees a little of himself in Paul and that's why he's going out of his way for him, but does this blind Jet to see the bigger picture?
You kinda want to slap Leo upside the head to knock some common sense into him or atleast to get him to open his eyes. And at times i felt that Cora just couldn't let go of the martyr thing shes got going on, bless her it's not self inflicted.
The more I read, the more I felt this was Jet's story to tell. Kind of like his discovery and redemption.
Cora.....sometimes you swallow deep at her sadness.
Officer Sanchez raised my suspicions right from the start, I just couldn't seem to trust her or her judgement, and she appeared to block Leo at every step. Made you question how anything gets done with such a blinkered perception of events.
A storm brews and errupts in many senses and you see a battle between love and common sense ensue, and you hope that love prevails.
I love Nicole Stewarts' books. I am never disappointed and eagerly await for the next release. She makes the story unfold with such ease, allowing the complexity of Cora, Jet and Leo to be revealed as the pages turn. It's compelling, holds your attention and stirs all sorts of emotions as if you yourself are caught in that storm.
Highly recommended read to start your New Year with a bang!!

I love me my MC romances...

I'm a big fan of Nicole's books, at first I thought nah, no way, but then I read Phoenix Running. This type of genre was never my cuppa, but I am so glad I have stuck with Nicole. I actually love love loved this newest read.
I was really excited to see an MC Romance written Nicole's way. This book doesn't disappoint.
Jet, Leo and Cora were high school best friends, although Jet and Cora were the couple and Leo had to wish and want from afar.
Now they all still live in the same town, with Leo the newly appointed Sheriff.
Jet is the leader in his MC, Band of Valor. Cora, works at a bank and struggles every day, pay check to pay check like most of us. She and her younger brother Paul live with their alcoholic mother.
This story opens up and as you meet the characters the pace just picks up and up and up. I was truly entertained and invested in these folks, I would literally cry out when something didn't go their way.
I gave the book five stars because for me , this book resonated. It will stick, this Triad has a really beautiful love story, but as with all Nicole's books there are real , hard to handle everyday issues she touches on. Always a message to be served up and I love that the story speaks upon these messages.
I really recommend this book. It's not super hardcore MC, but I prefer that, I have read a ton of them.
Authors' that deal in this genre are very brave and courageous to put these stories out. This was just real life.
Thanks Ms. Stewart, really awesome job here..

I loved Road Hard by Nicole Stewart! Why did I love it? It had all the bells and whistles that pushed all my buttons in all the right ways. So what's it about?

Cora and Jet dated as teens leaving Leo as odd man out and secretly crushing on both of them. Now 10 years later they've gone their separate ways. Cora is a bank teller struggling to make ends meet supporting her alcoholic mom and 17 year old brother. Jet is the leader of a motorcycle group and co-owner of a body shop. Leo is an upstanding citizen and newly elected sheriff.

When Cora's brother gets a job at Jet's body shop to help with family finances he also finds another way to make fast illegal money which brings Sheriff Leo into the mix. When Cora, Jet and Leo reconnect, oh boy. Well let's just say the heat gets turned up and sparks fly. While I loved the sexiness of this story, I also appreciated the way the author brought out the emotional side of the characters. They really cared for each other and interacted well on all levels. And the Epilogue, oh.....brought happy tears to my eyes. All of this worked for me so 5 stars it is!

I received an arc for an honest review.

This was one that I had to stay up late to finish. I was eager to see how Jet, Cora and Leo's story played out. These 3 were all friends in high school. Jet and Cora dated and Leo lusted after them both from afar. Now, ten years later, they are all back in the same city. Leo just got the biggest job break of his life and Cora and Jet are struggling to get by in life. When the three of them reconnect, sparks fly. At first, it seemed more of a M/M love story since Leo and Jet were really drawn to each other, but the way that the three of them became each other's family was something that krept into my heart. All of them were lacking something in life and they find it in the other two people. This was an interesting twist at a second chance love story and I absolutely loved it. The danger is real and tensions run high for these three. It's the worst time for them to try to figure out what they are to each other, but nothing is stronger than their love and protection of each other. Loved these three!

Was a good read. 3 some life style

This was another good read by by Nicole. This story pulls you in fast and you get hooked. I didn't want to put it down and completed it in 2 days. I did receive an advanced copy but I also bought it since I loved it.
Overview. Cora is working hard to keep a roof over her and her families heads. She encourages her brother to get his first job. She runs into her 2 friends from high school (jet and Leo). Jet is a local MC mechanic at his own shop and Leo is now the new town sheriff. But when a new crime spree starts happening in and around their town, their friendship is tested. Leo is fighting the attraction between him and Cora whom he has loved since they were kids, and jet their friend. Leo is bisexual but doesn't let anyone know. That is until the 3 go out for a fun night down memory lane. Things get hot and change them all forever, but also test them when the crimes are being blamed on Jet and his motorcycle club. But will they find a way to be together? Will the crimes stop and the real people be charged?

I really enjoyed this interesting mix of characters! Jet, Cora and Leo all lead such different lives but were so connected as friends when they were younger that you can feel the pull between them as they reconnect years later. Cora is the sweet young woman that has had a rough life, not being able to rely on anyone while she takes care of her younger brother and alcoholic mother. Her trust is always tested. The leader of a local motorcycle club, Jet, is all about good intentions and the importance of this family he has built around him. He still grieves the family he lost and that emotion shows. Leo runs on the right side of the law as the newly elected sheriff and has to deal with the trouble that is spreading through town. He has a deep devotion to those he cares for and I loved that about him. The three of them have immediate sparks that continue to grow even with the obstacles that they face. This is a great story, well written characters that had me not wanting to put it down.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

In my opinion, this is Nicole Stewart's best work to date. Cora, Leo and Jethro blew me away. They were childhood friends, and I could see their feelings developing even as they were growing up together. There were complexities in this story that gave it good depth, it wasn't simply another MMF romance. Even with Leo still trying to do his job as sheriff and solve crimes that he believes his friend is involved in, he and Jethro still can't deny the burgeoning passion between them. They're also attracted to Cora, and the feeling is mutual. Doing the delicate dance of balancing a MMF relationship, the trio find a way to make things work for them, and yet the underlying story still makes its presence known throughout the book, rather than just being a vague backdrop. Kudos!

I received an advance reader copy of this book and also purchased a copy.

This was my first book by this author, and it definitely won't be the last. I really enjoyed this story, the complex characters, sizzling hot sex, the suspense, and the surprise twists. It pulled me in right from the start, and I couldn't put it down. It's a great book that anyone who loves MMF stories would enjoy.

The only thing that didn't work for me was when the second in command, the deputy chief, was blatantly disrespectful towards the sheriff, went above him to the mayor on several occasions, and acted as if she was the one in charge, and he let her. That was not believable in anyway. I know that it plays a big part of the story, but it just didn't seem plausible or seem to fit, at least not to me. Just my opinion. Otherwise, I thought it was a great book, and will definitely be reading more from this author.

I would definitely recommend this book and author.

Great read

I choose four stars for this book because it's a mystery and love story. I love a book that gets you emotionally involved. There were times I wanted to reach through my kindle and strangle a few characters but isn't that what a good book is suppose to do?
This book is told from three points of view, Cora, Jet, and Leo(the main characters). I did not give it five perfect stars because with three points of view it was a little hard to follow at times but it is minor.
The drama of solving the crime that takes place and the battle to hold on to the relationship the characters want makes this book a good read and very few authors writes hot love scenes like Nicole Stewart.

A great new genre for Nicole Stewart

I have to say that I was excited when I read Red Velvet, because of the romantic comedy included. Now I'm excited to see miss Stewart including an MC storyline. I loved that the characters intertwined from different walks of life, even though they had been close friends when younger. This was a great story of the person you become while growing up and how to always trust your gut. As usual, miss Stewart ensured that I was stuck on the edge of my seat and that e everything came to fruition as it should. I can't wait to read what she has for us next!

Loved it!

I was resistant to read this only because I have come across so many disappointing MMF menage books. Road Hard did not disappoint though. It is more down to earth than most menage books I've read (which is part of the reason I loved it), meaning the characters aren't millionaires or swimming in money, they struggle with everyday-people problems. One of the heros is a sort of MC president, the other is the Sherriff of their small town, and the heroine is a bank teller who is struggling to keep her family from drowning from money problems and an alcoholic mother. If you enjoy MMF menage romances, Road Hard is a definite must read!

You know with Nicole Stewart what you will get....steamy MMF romance, interesting characters, and a fast paced read with a few surprises. The book Road Hard was no exception. Leo, Jet, and Cora's story was well written, had a few twists to keep it interesting, and just the right amount to sexy fun. These characters try very hard to do the "right thing", not always sure what that is or how to do it. Great read and free with your KU subscription.

I am a fan of Nicole Stewart but this one felt a little more M/M romance with a girl thrown in. Cora and Jet were high school sweethearts and Leo was their best friend. Years later Leo is the local sheriff, Jett is the leader of a biker gang and Cora is struggling to take care of her mother and younger brother. A rival MC gang is setting Jett up for local crimes and Leo doesn't trust him enough to believe it not Jett's gang. After Cora's life is threatened Leo puts the pieces together but is it to late for the 3 star crossed lovers?

Plenty of hot action!

Three friends to lovers have to overcome all manner of obstacles in order to be together in this thrilling MMF menage novel. Jet, Leo and Cora are perfect characters and with plenty of hot action and romance going on I was hooked from the start.
This is one sexy book! The story line is excellent, full of twists and turns, baddies, murder, a cop, a bad boy mechanic and a girl just trying to provide for her family. Nicole Stewart is in my opinion one of the best MMF bisexual menage writers, she never disappoints. I highly recommend this book!
