Come along from A to Z in this unique and raucous romp through the alphabet as only Olivia could describe it. A perfect gift for any fan of the precocious pig, this sturdy board book is ideal for the youngest Olivia readers-and the littlest hands (or hoofs).

Olivia's ABC is a fun way for children to learn their alphabet using a character they already know and enjoy. All of the examples given for each letter are interesting and different than what a picture book would usually have representing the alphabet. The objects used for representation are a mix of funny, entertaining, and enjoyable. The white background of every picture also makes the illustrations stand out. The colors appear more vibrant and catch your eyes. Even though Olivia is also drawn in white, she still stands out off the page, but not enough to overpower the letters or objects. I think this book could be used for independent reading or read aloud. This story would be perfect for children in preschool through first grade and I believe it could easily transition them into reading.
Genre: Picture Book- Alphabet Book Awards: N/A Audience: 0-4 year olds A. I know that this is an Alphabet Book because each page is focused on a different letter and words that begin with it. It goes in order of the alphabet. B. An interesting element to this book is that the only images that are in color are the objects on the page, never the characters. This helps to highlight the items that begin with the letter that the page is focused on. C. I would use this book in a whole group read aloud to help practice the ABS's or with one on one reading with my child. D. What is the first letter of the alphabet? A!
Genre: Picturebook, Alphabet Book Awards: None Audience: PreK-1st grade A. Olivia's ABC is a 26 paged board book. Each page has a letter from the alphabet with labeled pictures that start with that letter. The pages for each letter are in alphabetical order. B. The illustrator uses the color red to highlight specific objects that are being labeled. Therefore, the reader is drawn to that red object and can connect the word to the object easily. C. I would use this book in a read aloud to introduce the ABC's to a young child before they enter school, are in PreK, or are in Kindergarten. Also, I could use this book to reenforce the English ABC's and introduce new words for English language learners in 1st grade in a read aloud or one-on-one reading. D. What's a word that starts with "O"? Olivia.
My four-year-old granddaughter loves this so much that I had to sneak it back to the library. She read it every day, multiple times a day. Kindred spirit? Yikes!
As always, the little pig shines! A great way to introduce a lovable literary character to the little ones as well as learning their ABC's. So fun and cheery is this book that it will have adults as well as children enjoying reading it.
A very sturdy board book with lots of fun pictures of Olivia and of course O stands for....Olivia. I loved the t illustrations: Olivia dressed in a red striped turban and towel holding toothpaste and a toothbrush.
I like Olivia, it is a great book series for kids. I liked this ABC book, but it is not my favorite. It was good with Capital and lowercase letters and examples of words beginning with that letter. My kids enjoyed it, but they lost interest a few times.
In this cute book, perfect for even the littlest of hands, Olivia helps early readers learn their ABC's.
Through the use of bright red letters against a bland white background, the reader's eyes will be drawn to whichever letter is being represented. Olivia helps the reader figure out what items around their house can be attributed to each letter. Though there aren't many colours represented, most children will be drawn to Olivia, posing with her backpack, holding her beach-ball, wearing her bikini. There are no borders and very little text, other than the letters and the labeling of the words.
