Mega-Tsunami

Rate this book
In 1958, a wave of water towering over 1700 feet high killed some local fisherman in a remote section of Alaska and caused a new word to be added to dictionaries across the world. Mega-Tsunami. After some comprehensive research, scientists discovered that the physics defying wave was caused by an earthquake.

When a group of hikers trying to descend Sandthrax canyon in southern Utah experience a series of unusual earthquakes, they have no idea their journey will lead them around the globe as they track down the origin and purpose for these geological anomalies. What they discover, unless they can stop it, would alter the face of the entire world forever.

I'm a big reader and this is not typically the type of story I am drawn to, let alone sit down and read. However, as soon as I started it was hook line and sinker (pardon the pun). What I quickly realized is that David has a knack for mixing history, his love of nature and fiction to speak about the human species and their relationship with the environment. It was evident that David is passionate about this story and took the time and effort to create a suspenseful, well developed adventure for his readers to enjoy!

I'm impressed with the story Cline has developed and tells. Nick Wood is a Military hero/James Bond type with a habit of rescuing people just when they need it. When he walks in upon Amber and her group, he does more than just rescue stranded hikers. He stumbles into a worldwide plot to wreak havoc on Americas people, destroy the world's economy and send the few survivors back a few hundred years. You move all over the world as Wood and his friends try to solve the mystery of earthquakes and prevent a Mega Tsunami that will change the world forever.

This story is well written, and keeps u a little unsure what is happening next. I don't know if Mega-Tsunamis are factual, but the story read like they were. It may be the best self published story I've read to date as far as typos, inconsistencies, etc. There are very few typos and those are mainly capitalization issues. It is also cleanly written with mild language, no sex, etc. Although this is an adult novel, it would be appropriate for all kids 12 and older, I'd think.

I'd recommend this book to fans of action-thriller type books and I'll read the 2nd Nick Wood adventure when that comes out.

I'm a little disappointed with this book! I had such high hopes going into it but it just fell flat for me. It felt a little disjointed!!

This starts in 1958 where we see some fishermen docked in for the night when they see a wall of water coming into the cove. They have little to no chance of surviving but they still hunker down. Then it jumps to Amber and her friends attempting to descend the Sandthrax Canyon. This is one of the hardest canyons to descend. Amber and her friends are doing ok, when there is a sudden earthquake. They hold on and ride it out and decide to keep going. But when another one hits at exactly the same time, they end up stranded with no way out. Things are desperate when two men come upon them and help them out. Nick and Adam were scaling the same place and experienced the same earthquakes as the group. Along with Amber, Nick and Adam need to get to the bottom of what's going on!

It took me quite a while to get into this fully because I felt like the story was disjointed initially and the real story of the mega tsunami didn't get going until nearly half way through. I know the author had to set the scene, but it took a while to get there.

Character wise, Amber was plucky and smart and I reckon she should have been utilised a lot more! Nick and Adam were a little too over the top in how good they were at everything! They always seemed to now what to do and have the equipment to do it. Now I know they were supposed to be the nest of the best, but still. they went up against a whole lot of men with big guns, and came out unscathed. It was eye rolling at times.

I went into this expecting a mega tsunami to happen or nearly happen, and whilst it did, it wasn't the main focus of the book. The ending with the mega tsunami was quite anticlimactic and felt very very rushed. Within a few pages the tsunami happens and that's all there was about it. I wanted more suspense and science about the wave, but this was very much focused on Nick and Adam.

In all, this was an ok read. I think I expected too much from it and thought it was something different, and that's why I was disappointed. I thought this was a disaster type book, or at least a book building up to that, but it wasn't. I still enjoyed it, just not as much as I hoped.

Action packed!

This book drew me in from the start. It was full of action and conspiracy and I couldn't put it down!
The story starts off describing the events of a Mega Tsunami in 1958 then fast forwards to the present and some geologists hiking through a hidden canyon. The hikers are trapped in the canyon as earthquakes nearly take their lives. Their escape comes in the form of 2 S.A.T.R.A. Agents- Nick and Adam. The interaction starts them on the trail of a huge international conspiracy to drown the US.
Nick and Adam fight battle after battle in order to stop the major disaster planned by the conspirators. They travel all over the world with multiple adventures in order to prevent another Mega-Tsunami from collapsing the Eastern US.
I was impressed by the pace of the book and the insights of the good guys as well as the bad guys. There were a few things that were a little far-fetched for my taste, but I could see this being made into a movie.

Half way into a book i couldn't wait for it to finish. I liked the plot overall, thats why 2 stars but i had to fight with myself to finish it.

Tsunami at the end is only very briefly described (i was hoping for more deitals) however the most annying are the characters. Him, american macho type, tall, handsome, soldier, pilot, boat captian you name it, i'll bet he could fly a space shuttle as well, he was that awesome. He obviously never had an alcohol in his life or swear even once throughout the book, pure gold. And her, beautiful, smart scientist, and of course xena warrior type, saved here and then by our american hero in the last second

I mean do they always have to be so ideal? Can't she be just average looking for once? More like down to earth characters.

I'd recommend the book for kids, but not for the grown ups. All the best. Sorry english is not my first language

Fascinating story

This book has an incredible amount of imagination and non-stop action through. But by took off one star because of the enormous number of grammatical errors and misspellings throughout. They were very distracting! An editor was sorely needed.

Kept me riveted

A small thing, really. Misspellings and other little errors always leap out at me. It is a curse. A well-told and riveting story. Improbable in some things, frightening in others. I enjoyed the book, and would recommend it to others.

Quite an adventure but I wish there was more in it about the mega-tsunami and it's effects.
