James writes paranormal romance and erotica, including Eternal Ever After (rebranded as Eternal Lover), featured in the bestselling Spice Box anthology. Her Ever Dark Immortals Series, which begins with Eternal Lover, has been described as “brimming with sensuality” and “romantic and sizzling hot.” The Isle of the Horse Shifters series starts with Ride: Awakening and is “lighthearted,” which is a “joy ride from beginning to end.”
She resides in the Philadelphia suburbs with her adoring husband Ron (aka Mr. A.C. James), who loves her imaginative yarns and punny sense of humor. She spends most of her time drinking large vats of coffee while wrangling kids by day and writing by night. Recovering video game beta tester and tech geek who grew up going to cons and watching SmackDown. There’s probably some cosplay pictures around somewhere of her dressed up as Bloodberry from Saber Marionette J. Just don’t tell anyone.
EPISODE 9 I was so excited to read Maeliosa’s story. I absolutely loved her when she made an appearance in the previous stories. She was so sassy, strong and fiery I couldn’t wait to see what would happen to her and her aversion to mates. This story really surprised me with how fun and caring she really is, I liked it! And I loved Sage! He was so strong and didn’t let anything get in his way. I liked how other characters from previous books, Felicity, Cyn and Nathan (can’t wait to see what happens to him!) had little parts to play in this one as well, I liked seeing where everyone was at. Overall a good start to Season Three of Ride!
EPISODE 10 A good continuation to the Ride series. There was humour, intense and emotional moments. I love getting to know Sage and Maeliosa together and all the other characters that make an appearance, including a fun character that I love by the name of Kieran. He’s just one of those characters that are easy to love and joke with
EPISODE 11 This book was a lot more fast paced and filled with action and humour. A good and easy read. I loved how Sage just wanted to take care of everyone and would stop at nothing to help the people close to him. I love how caring they all are and how Nathan thinks he’s one of the good guys, it’s funny seeing him try and act different
EPISODE 12 A rollercoaster of emotions and intense scenes with a little humour mixed in. I loved reading about what happened to Maeliosa’s mother when she was younger and how strong she was when she first took responsibility caring for her little sister, Darcy. I loved that no matter what she tries to stay positive and not let anything get in her way. The same with Sage, I thought they were perfect for each other. I loved the interactions and cute ending. A very fast and easy read and an overall really good storyline throughout all the books in the series. I liked each character and loved being a part of their world and going through their lives with them all.
4.5 stars
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book
Yeah! A new phase to the Ride Series starts with The Stables. Sage has come to the Isle looking for help and Maeliosa is willing to give him a chance. It could be a risk after all previously nearly losing Fallon. Maeliosa was so different than the previous times we've seen her. It was good to see Maeliosa happy and not cynical anymore. Sage was a strong addition to the story. He has a lot to be revealed. I loved him as a match for Maeliosa. Maeliosa makes her leap of faith for Sage. They are quick to establish their bond.
At the same time Cyn finds out the danger she is in from Nathan and his new friends. Nate is still a loopy mess. The suspense and danger is heightened as we have to wait with Fallon and feel his anger and fear. Cyn is strong but she's only human. The emotions were quite worked up in this story.
Sage reveals more of himself and his life to Maeliosa as they find themselves enmeshed in Cyn's kidnapping. Fallon is headstrong and stubborn in wanting to save Cyn and keep everyone else safe. It is a fast paced venture into the city with a lot of high stress emotions.. on the part of me as the reader!
This was one bang of an ending to a series. I kept waiting for things to fall apart. All of the action to save Cyn. And Maeliosa being strong for both of them. Sage working with Fallon. It was like an orchestrated ballet but with a lot more anxiety and worry. Making sure that the good guys win and that everyone is safe. The ending was sweet and endearing. Best of all the ending left it so that there was room for more should A.C. James decide to revisit this series. Love this series and how beautifully it's woven.
After reading these books one by one it is even better to read them together in a box set. This is the third love story in this series, you don't have to read the other stories first, but they are as good as this one, so if you haven't read them you should read the others too.
In this book it is about Maelíosa and Sage, but it is great to see the two leading ladies from the other series back, Felicity and Cyn. Sage is sick and wants to mate a puca to survive cancer, not for himself but because of his young daughter Carina. Maelíosa talks to him about this and actually he doesn't have the time it normally costs to find a puca mate, but Maelíosa feels for them. This story is also about Nathan and his stupid book and the evil guys from only human kidnapping Cyn. The Puca's flying to rescue her is a funny part to read about. If they are on time to rescue Cyn? You have to read the book to find out. You won't regret it.
Hopefully there will be more stories in this series.
THE STABLES Now the Pucas are out in the open thanks to Nathan, they are having to be more careful. They have a group Only Human trying to make trouble for them. Not everyone is against them, some are just curious and get a little close. Maelíosa is in charge of The Stables, a mating agency for humans to apply. This is how she meets Sage and his daughter Carina. He came in to find a mate, but for reasons not for love. Poor Sage he just wants his daughter safe and happy. He has so much sadness and so much love. Life really knew how to knock him down. But bless him no matter what his daughter is his main thoughts and why he goes to the Pucas. Good dad :) Carina is mature kid that sees more then Sage realises but she holds herself. She just wants to strong for her dad, her hero. Such a good kid. Maelíosa takes an instant interest in both of them and the situation. You can see how much she wants to help and what she wants to do. She is still a bit weary but you can't really blame her. She has so much love to give though, she hides it and pain from her mother's death. This is not the only thing happening though. Nope you obviously have the old gang about. Felicity and Cyn have adjusted and love life and there mates. Neither of them have forgiven Nathan or talked to him. Speaking of Nathan, he has been living off the adrenalin of his book outing the Pucas. Things aren't always as they seem though and the traitor has trouble. Tut tut. What's going to happen next? ONLY HUMAN Oohhhhhhh things are heating up in this one. Sage and Maelíosa woohooo are mated and wow does the chemistry flare with these two. What started off at helping Sage and Carina has turned into a hell of a hotness more. And Sage? Didn't expect to feel so much for Maelíosa and wondering why she agreed to do it. But these two are so meant to be and both he and Carina are where they are meant to be. All happy? Every enjoying life? Yes. Well until Nathan decides he isn't finished with then and takes his hate one step further. Omg can this get addictive. I absolutely love how cute and hot Sage and Maelíosa are. But then Nathan goes and ruins the happiness Ahhhh horrid little man. Well the next book should be interesting and I can't wait to see if Nathan gets what's coming to him in the next one. And those stupid Only Human people. TAKEN Maelíosa and Sage are mated, and enjoying it ;) getting to know each other more. Just a day after the union all hell breaks loose and they have to go back to the human realm. Not all is happy though as Cyn had my kidnapped by Only Human and Nathan. Yep Nathan the idiot is up to his selfish ways AGAIN!!! No going back from this. All they want is Fallon. Fallon is devastated and is willing to give his life to get her back. So the Puca and Sage are on a rescue mission. But is all going to be alright? That is the question. I really really want to punch some sense into Nathan the IDIOT!!! Nut job!!! And he is nothing compared to the Only Human master. The cliffhanger arhhhhhhhh want the hell? Next book please. FINALE You get scared people then you get stupid scared people. Scared people find it hard to adjust to things that are different cause they don't understand it. They may do and say some hurtful things but in time they adapt. They may still be scared but they try and understand different. Stupid scared are people who don't listen and don't want to understand different. They use it as an excuse to cause harm and start a war. No matter what you say you will never get through to them. Only Human group? Stupid scared. The last book was so emotional right through. I had tears in my eyes throughout most of this part. Maelíosa’s and Cyn are in deep trouble now. Can Sage and Fallon get to them before all hell breaks loose? So much hate and love in the same place. The problem is this much hate hurts people. I absolutely love this gang and how they look out for each other, and the love? So oooo much love and faith is enough to make you jealous and want to jump into the story. SAGE is soo hot going all Seal .
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. If you’ve read the previous episodes in this series, you know that a lot can happen in a short story. This latest series is no different. Niall’s headstrong sister Maelíosa who tried to get out of mating by agreeing to work in The Stables by her father, Chieftain Fallon, gets pushed into this arrangement to her chagrin. Somehow finds herself face-to-face with the man who would become her mate—Sage, a cancer-stricken single father. This story was sweet, fast, and had its elements of hotness and family. All of the characters from the first two Episodes were there as well.
Ride: Episode Ten: Only Human*
*Note: There are some possible spoilers if you haven’t read the previous episodes.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This story goes more into the repercussions of Nathan’s drunken outing of the Púca. As the result of this, a hate group called Only Human has sprung up with the goal of harming or destroying the Púca and the Realm that this live on since they know that they veil between the two worlds are thinning. Nathan still has his unhealthy obsession with Cyn and vacillates between guilt, anger, jealousy, and fixation. I liked his character in the beginning, but now, I just hope that something bad happens to his character.
Ride: Episode Eleven: Taken
*Note: There are some possible spoilers if you haven’t read the previous episodes.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Under the guise of meeting up to apologize to Cyn for all that he’s done, Nathan teams up with Only Human and the kidnap Cyn while she’s in London. He manages to figure out how to contact Fallon and sets out to prove that he’s the man for her. He’s still living in his own little world and refuses to see reason. Meanwhile, Cyn is worried about the safety of her and Fallon’s unborn child. Fallon is beside himself and goes on a fool’s errand alone in an unfamiliar London in search of his mate. Thankfully, he has friends and family following him to try and keep him safe while rescuing Cyn. The biggest advantage that I think they have is a newly healed Sage. For a short story, you’re pretty much sitting on the edge of your seat for most of the story!
Ride: Episode Twelve: Finale I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
*Note: There are some possible spoilers if you haven’t read the previous episodes.
The series wrapped up and all is well for the characters. I was happy that what I thought would be a bad event didn’t happen. Maelíosa demonstrated just how strong and brave she could be and I think that she and Sage make a great couple. I love how Darcy and Carina get along also. The only downside to the story is how insignificant OH came off when they’d been starting so much trouble—or at least that’s what the stories alluded to. I find it hard to believe that a handful of men made up the entire organization. I still wish that something awful had happened to Nathan. He earned it. And what about the veil between the two places? I think we need at least one more set up stories to truly wrap everything up.
Episodes 9 through 12 was really good how sage went to the island to find a mate because he was dieing from cancer so he could have someone to take care of his daughter but they cured him and he found love too.
A year after the last book. The púca king's daughter Melissa now works at the clan's dating service called the stables. so the púca can all find mates Sage is a human male with a 9 year old daughter that means the world to him. he used to be the head of a Navy seal team in North Carolina USA but now he is dieing of cancer. he might have a chance if the púca can heal him or at the very least if he mates with one his daughter would have a mom after he dies. as luck would have it he has caught the eye of Maeliosa Nathan is in this book too. the guy who made all the trouble in the last one. funny thing is he seems to be the one in trouble now. Lots of great storyline and truly us an entertaining read. the characters are lots of fun and the way the writer writes you feel like your in that magical part of the world. I can't wait for the next book. but there is a cliffhanger at the end of this book.
Book 10 Sage is a human male dieing of cancer his one chance for his daughter to have a mother and for him to have a chance at recovery is to mate with a puma female. The problem was he would be dead for his turn on the wait list and what women wanted a male that was sickly and could die on her? Maeliosa is willing to try for Carina, Sage's little girl who reminded her so much of herself and no one has interested her as much as Sage does. So now they are in the Realm. Cynthia or Cyn who us now queen of the Realm is crossing over the to the human realm to meet with her agent Patrick to hear his good news but danger strikes. Who will be able to save her now? This is a great storyline. I love the action and drama the author adds to it. The characters are fantastic but picking up the British slang can be a little confusing yet fun. Gives you a sense of being there. A little warning with theses book there short and they build on each other. They must be read in order and there are cliffhangers. If that not something your ok with just wait until the end and get this awesome story at one time. You will not be disappointed.
Voluntary reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
Episode 9 The Stables After Nathan outed the Puca they have found an inventive way to co-habitat with humans, offering a win/win. Nathan continues his public media rants, to the point a hate group has targeted the Puca. This episode picks up a year after the ending of episode 8 and again features some happy mating, but also some bad guys stirring up trouble. We also get introduced to a few new characters that have Maeliosa acting very unlike herself. Great read with fascinating characters, just make sure you start at the beginning and do not mind the cliffs! Episode 10 Only Human Maeliosa never thought she would mate and even though her first reasoning in mating Sage was to help him and his daughter, she finds herself wanting more than just appearances, with scares the hell out of her! On the heels of Maeliosa’s mating ceremony Cyn gets good news, only to have Nathan and his new buddies intervene. Love this series, Sage and Maeliosa have awesome chemistry and Fallon and Cyn have a little surprise of their own! Episode 11 Taken The mating bond grows stronger for Sage and Maeliosa, emerging unexpected feelings in her. Sage sees the healer, however, just as things look like a dream come true, Fallon calls a clan meeting with the worst news possible and leaves alone to deal with it, regardless of the clan’s unwillingness. Sage, having been trained for this offers to follow and provide backup with a few other clan members. Finding Fallon before the OH makes a successful mission look possible but that changes quickly, and not for the better. Episode 12 Finale What an ending! Exciting, fast paced, explosive ending, everyone seems to get what they have coming to them! Sage’s buddy really came through and even Fallon learns to accept Sage’s leadership (at least for the rescue) and expertise. I am sad to see the end of these characters and their story (though could there be a spin off with “The Stables”?) regardless, this is a thrilling ending to a wonderful series. **I voluntarily chose to review a copy of this book and I have not been compensated in any way**
So if you are new to this series you want to start at book 1. These are all relatively quick to read and the storyline is truly worth following! In this episode a dying father is looking for a solution to how to ensure love and care for his child. At the end of his choices, he turns to the Stable but the process takes longer than his projected life expectancy. Be prepared to have your heart twisted. These episodes do have cliffhangers . This series would make a great television series. Review of Ride Episode 10: While things are looking better for Sage, Cyn runs into trouble. This episode truly keeps you in suspense! After a short reprieve, this write wasted no time keeping your heart racing! Get ready for feeling quite angry towards Cyn's attacker! Of course another cliffhanger but this storyline will keep you faithful. Ride Episode 11: So you can't really have gotten this far into this series without knowing this is about to make you hang swiftly off that cliff...again! Lol....and this time it caught me bad! Still in awe of this writer and her ability to keep this gripping tale so suspenseful. It feels like watching. A half hour series on television without commercial interruption knowing that it's gonna end with...stay tuned next week to find out yada yada lol. And I would, and I do. On to episode 12! Ride Episode 12: An amazing finale for an amazing series! This book is chocked full of suspense and heroic scenes. Two of the beloved characters are injured which places their mates on edge. This epic finale totally plays on your emotions! The pages will easily fly by just so you can find out what happens! This series is filled with cliffhangers, but this finale could not have been any more perfect! This voluntary review is based against an advance copy
I am reviewing Episode 10 as a representative sample of this box set. It is a serial story and absolutely outstanding!
Sage was incredulous – he could not believe that Maeliosa was offering to be his mate so he could bypass the normal lengthy waiting period. With his health deteriorating so rapidly, he could not refuse her offer. He just didn’t have enough time left to ensure his young daughter’s future.
Meanwhile, Nathan has been taken by the Only Human group. The Master of the group wanted to find out from Nathan how to get across the Veil to the Chieftan mentioned in Nathan’s book. Seeing this as his chance for revenge, Nathan readily agreed to help them, figuring this could be a way to get Cyn back with her mate destroyed.
Tricking Cyn into meeting at her favorite restaurant so he could apologize for all that he had done, Nathan and the Only Human thugs waited in secret for her. They grabbed her and threw her in a van. How would Cyn escape? Would they find out she was pregnant and kill her and the child? Would Fallon be killed in the trap they were setting as he was trying to rescue her?
As always, this is a wonderful story! I love the Pucas so much! Each family member is so well characterized that the reader feels like they are old friends. Each part of the series is suspenseful and keeps the reader eagerly trying to find out what happens next. I highly recommend this wonderful book!
Overall this set is 3.5 stars. This review is for all of the novellas for Season Three (Episodes 9-12 The Stables, Only Human, Taken, and Finale). This set and series center around horse shifters (puca). In the first two seasons, there were stallion shifters and curvy human woman mates. In season three, there is a make human and a female shifter. Definitely 18+ due to sexual situations. Very hot and steamy. The box set can be read as a standalone, but each individual episode should not be and should be read in order. Please note that each of the episodes are short quick reads.
The characters and setting are well described in the blurb for each episode and the entire set, and I'm not going to recap that in my review. Please read the blurb for more info on Sage and Maeliosa and the Isle of Inis Mor.
The story moves really fast, but then when a shifter finds their mate they tend to not waste time. Their relationship begins when Sage comes to THE STABLES to find a mate and needs a compressed timeline. Will Maeliosa find a way to bend the rules for him? When outside forces threaten the clan, will he be able to help keep them safe?
I really enjoyed these episodes and the entire three season storyline.
I have loved this series and am sorry to see it end. Hopefully the author will decide to write books about the next generation of the Puca. The Puca are peaceful and loving horse shifters, who have been kept themselves hidden from the humans for hundreds of years. Once the humans find out about them, they try to find them, and some evil humans want to harm them. This story is about the Puca leader's daughter, Maeliosa and the man who becomes her mate, Sage. Usually in books the hero is a strong dominant person, but Sage (retired from the Navy) is a single father, and is dying of cancer. He wants to make sure that his daughter is taken care of when he dies. (What a loving father) He has heard that the Puca have the ability to heal their mate, so as a last ditch effort to live, he hopes to find a mate with the Puca, and possibly be cured of his cancer. The characters from the first two series also appear, along with the evil, nasty, jealous Nathan. I not only fell in love with Sage and Maeliosa, but Sage's daughter is a cutie.
The installment in this series was wonderfully written and left me wanting more. I was captivated from start to finish and was left wanting more when the story ended. I read this whole story in one sitting and I only wish there would be more after this part of the series if finished. I was unable to put the book down one I started it and the author sure knows how to tell a story and leave you hanging. The author was able to grab my interest from the start and I couldn’t put the book down once I started it. I am sorry to see the Puca go, as I would have loved to read more from the series. This is one series that I would recommend to someone who likes shifters.
Although Season Three has probably been my favorite of the entire Ride series, I couldn't help but feel a bit let down at the ending. Of course we get the action, romance, and HEA we're eagerly expecting, but things wrapped up so neatly, I couldn't help but wonder - is that it? Somewhat spoilery statement coming up, but what about the OH and Nathan? I mean, just hope for the best? I'm happy to see everything turns up roses at the end, but feel like it ended too quickly. I understand the episode/serial aspects of stuff, but I think sometimes the story suffers from the shortness of it.
This is the last set of romances included in the Ride series. I enjoyed seeing Maelíosa get her chance at love. She pretends to be hard but has a very caring side. When she meets Sage and hears about his condition, she feels for his child. She wants to help even if it commits her to a relationship. Sage is a protector too. He never expected to find someone like her and he really works hard to ear the trust of the family. It is a great ending to the series.
This is the four book set of Sage and Maeliosa's story and their a doozy !! Betrayel, kidnappings, murder, love , hot sex and the love of a little girl make these four books the best of the RIDE SERIES without a doubt !! If you've read any if the orevious boojs you know Puca's mate for life and Sage and Maeliosa are no different !! It's nice if you've read the previous books but not necessary , you can read these four and completely be engrosssed in the story immediately with minimal catch up on previous couples needed. 5⭐'s !!!
