The Celtic Fey #3

Faerie Quest

Rate this book
*** Books 1 & 2 only 99c till 15th January ***

Playing the virtual reality game Feyland wasn't supposed to turn out so - uh, real. But when things from the game start appearing in everyday life - like a unicorn, or Elphin, the strange creature who saved her life and became her friend - Scots teenager Corinne MacArthur has a problem. Of epic proportions.

And then she learns the truth about Elphin.

It's a truth that shatters her illusions about the world she knows and sends her racing back to Feyland on a life-or-death rescue mission. But Feyland is a game where trickery is an art form and magic is the currency. A game which can deceive the unwary and trap the naive. A game where legends come to life and shadowy figures haunt your dreams.

And Corinne's dreams are coming true. But not in a good way. They're more like a waking nightmare, and it will take all her talent - and more - to escape the otherworldly creatures who've invaded her life. A life which is about to become even more complicated...

Faerie Quest is the 3rd book in the Celtic Fey series set in Anthea Sharp's Feyland universe (with her kind permission). Whilst this is a stand-alone book with a full story arc, you will get best enjoyment by reading the series from the first story, Unicorn Magic, amzn.com/B01LZSO1DH.

This is a clean fantasy romance / urban fantasy which is set in Scotland (and the faerie realm) and uses British English spelling and grammar.

The story continues. I recommend reading the first two installments in the series to understand what is happening; Faerie Quest by Roz Marshall is not a standalone book.

Corrine has one disappointment after another. In Feyland, she fails to rescue Elphine. In the real world, she loses Ghost. Determined not to fail, she returns to the VR game with Phemie, her farmer friend. Will they rescue Elphine?

Once back in Scotland, she realizes that “things from the realm are leaking into real life.” What awaits her in the future?

I enjoyed the story but feel that the first three books in The Celtic Fey series should be combined into one–they really are one story.

Corinne's life is becoming more complicated, her amazing horse Ghost has been taken by the officious man from the cruelty to animals charity, then she can't get back into the game, an she loses the auction to her nemesis Sonya. Bad luck runs in threes but hopefully that will all change when she takes Miss Irving back into the game with her. Totally enjoyed this book. Desperately awaiting book four. Think I'll go of to read Feyland.

Wow! This series just gets better and better! It’s like riding a rollercoaster through what is perceived as real and that which is faerie! Corinnes mission to save her ‘horse’ and her friend as so well written that you feel her hopes and frustrations! Roz Marshall has a new follower! I love this series!

The third so-called book in the series, it is only about 73 pages long, but you have to buy each of these chapters which should have been put into a complete book given the short length, carried on the story but I think this series is made more for young teens. Sorry I wasted my time and money on this.

Mortals and The Fairy World

A heartbroken Corrie goes to a Sim Cafe to play the Feyland game in an attempt to mend her heart and soul. But what happens when the world bleed together? She finds a new horse (really a unicorn) that magically comes into the mortal world. And she finds a friend Elphen who saves her from death by a Kelphie and then she saves from a wolf that belongs to the Winter Witch who stole him from the mortal world 40 years ago. She must break the spell that hold him bound to Fairy World. A wonderfully rich book by Rob Marshall. Can't wait to read the next book.

I received a copy of Faerie Quest by Roz Marshall in exchange for an honest review.
Note: this review contains spoilers!
Corinne has not has an easy time lately. First she had to move to Scotland so her dad could take a new job that has him away from home much more than Corinne or her mother like. Then her horse Midnight died. Stuck in the middle of no where with nothing to do and no friends, Corinne turned to the virtual reality game Feyland. In the first book of this series, Corinne was given her quest:
'Only the pure can see the pure, only the pure will find him. Only with love will love be shown, only by love unbind him.'
She was pure of heart and saw a beautiful unicorn that somehow followed her from Faerie to the human world. He became Ghost, the magnificent horse meant just for her. And she met Elphin, a strange looking man who has become her friend. At the end of book two, Corinne had just shot a white wolf that was attacking Elphin when she was thrown out of the game. Now she is on two quests of her own: find Elphin and make sure he is well and get Ghost back from the charity that has taken him away from her. Do her personal quests have anything to do with the quest she was given in Feyland?
Corinne has grown much since the first book. She's learned that knowledge is power and she needs all she can get. She's learned that what's in a friend's heart is more important than what they look like and that friends come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. And as her bow and arrows follow her from Faerie to her world, she realizes it's best to be prepared. Luckily her skill as an archer has followed her too! Ghost is still a horse, unicorn?, totally devoted and only answerable to Corinne. And Elphin is much happier being away from the Winter Witch and he has realized what it means to love someone so much that you would do anything to keep them safe.
I can hardly wait for the next and final book, King's Tears!

I've read the first three books in one sitting, with just two cups of coffee to help me along .... Love the series, and how the magical beings and the humans interact. Corinne has learned to look beyond the exterior and is determined to help Elphin because she cares. Things are going so right, until they start going wrong again ... Can't wait for the final book.

After being unceremoniously yanked from Feyland just moments after watching her friend Elphin get viciously attacked by a wolf, Corinne is desperate to get back to the game to check on him. But back in the real world, she gets the news that a bogus complaint was lodged against her for not taking proper care of Ghost and she faces the threat of losing the magnificent horse. With everything going wrong, can Corinne find a way to set things back to right?

I was super excited to start reading Faerie Quest, especially with the way book two ended! And I've gotta say, it was great! It's my favorite in this series, so far. Each book seems to get better and better! A lot happened in this installment and I cannot wait for the next book! Highly recommend!

I received an advanced copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it. This is my honest opinion.
