Hal Elrod is the author of the #1 international bestseller "The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life... (Before 8AM)" available at http://MiracleMorning.com
I just finished this book, but i know that I will continue to re-read it, highlight things that I want to remember, and refer back to it often. The Miracle Morning is the most practical self-help book I've ever read. It's a system for transforming your life, based on taking charge of your mornings, and if you commit to it, it really works. Whether you're trying to get more focus, clarity, & productivity in your work day in order to reach a business goal, as I am, or you want to improve your relationships, or you want to accomplish something huge like running a marathon, the Miracle Morning routine helps you set and follow the path to doing it. I read the version specifically written for entrepreneurs, but there are several others to choose from, and I think almost everyone could find one that resonates.
I had heard about the Miracle Morning from several sources, and was kind of skeptical, but now I'm a devout follower! I have really changed my morning routine according to the methods outlined in this book. I have been consistently waking up earlier (and no, I am not a "morning person," but i'm doing it!) and using the practices of creating & repeating affirmations, meditation (5-10 minute sessions with the Headspace app), journaling, visualization, and hourly scheduling of my time to steer myself towards much more productive days. I feel a lot more clarity and a lot less anxiety about running my business. I get more done during the day, and I have a more positive outlook. I highly recommend this book!
First things first: You don’t have to be an entrepreneur to read this! You just need to be someone who wants to be more productive, happy and healthy. There are tons of incredibly helpful tips and hacks in here that will work for anyone: students, parents, employees and entrepreneurs alike.
One thing I really liked was the way there were short bios of high-profile entrepreneurs telling how they organize their morning routines and plan their days in order to Get Stuff Done.
I recently told my book club that the book that had the most impact on my life in the past year was “Miracle Morning.” That was before I read “Miracle Morning for Entrepreneurs.” This new edition of MM is so much better than the original that I will be recommending it from now on.
If you haven't read The Miracle Morning, go do it now! Then pick up The Miracle Morning for Entrepreneurs, which takes the process to a whole different level. I have never been a morning person but this book has got me happily getting up early for the last 6 days and making big progress in how I start my day and work on achieving my goals.
The book is broken into the chapters on the miracle morning and then followed by entrepreneurial principles. Almost like 2 books. The first part was interesting, the second had nothing really new to say but did have a few interesting examples.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. I think that this book is so very helpful for those who are looking for a plan of action to take their lives, personal and business, to the next level. I now have a new daily routine that creates focus and high energy for the day.
Topics Include: - What kind of life do you think God wants for you? A life of feeling rushed, groggy, and unprepared? Or a healthy life of productive service? -> Are you robbing God of a worker when you constantly oversleep? - To live life for my own pleasures is to sleep long and hard (9+ hours). To live the life that God has for me is to get out of bed and enjoy God’s blessings: water, food, work, etc. - What could a great morning consist of? Food, water, prayer, Bible, exercise, books, even TV. - What could a terrible morning consist of? Phone and computer (these are reactive, not proactive) - Food is meant to fuel our activities - to keep us energized throughout the day. If you eat well, you will feel good. If you drink well, you will feel good. - Dream big. Inappropriately big. Feel really silly about it, but make a plan as if it were achievable. And then take the first step. - Also be sure to read through all the sample morning routines of successful people mentioned throughout.
Disclaimer: I was already doing more than half the stuff recommended in the book; the subject it addresses (mainly self-improvement, with a focus on entrepreneurship, although these are generally useful anyway). I'm not sure how it will appeal to someone who is just starting.
That being said, It was an easy and pleasant read. It mostly felt like reading a story. Although I've been reading self-improvements / habit forming books, I still had a lot to learn from this one. It basically promotes the habit of starting your life with SAVERS (Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading and Scribing - aka writing). I was already doing S, E, Reading for a while so I said, what the heck, I'll try the rest as well. Affirmations feels a bit cringe for me and I don't really feel any improvement due to the lack of connection with the habit itself. However, Visualization is an awesome improvement. I used to practice it at the end of the day; practicing when the day starts gets me excited for all the work I have to do, while also making it more clear. Huge improvement. It also convinced me to write even more, which yielded results.
I also loved all the book recommendations. A lot of them are quite good.
The book feels like it is trying to sell you something. Like a salesman who is overly happy at the product...so happy that you doubt it is real. The funny part is...it worked for me. It convinced me at to read it again (I haven't yet, but will do so in the future).
Still, at times it puts way too much emphasis on the resources around it (the facebook group, the website etc). Also, when I don't like the use of direct names of products, feels, again, like it's trying to sell it. It wasn't bad....until the end. I really didn't like that it ended with yet another sale pitch, to recommend it to someone else etc. Before that, it had a perfect ending to a really nice book. Putting that as a closing scheme was a downer.
I'll try to end with that I feel was the most useful part for me: finding a COO and how to build a trustworthy relationship. I already had one and was doing some of the suggested actions, but the entire chapter added a lot more. Even for only that information, I'd still recommend the book.
All in all it's a good book, easy to read, recommended for everyone. I'd give it a 4.5, but couldn't bring myself to give it a full 5.
I read this version of The Miracle Morning in order to remind myself why I started the habit months ago and to get back in the habit of starting my morning with the SAVERS. Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing. The 6 daily habits that are proven to catapult you towards your goals. I have read the original Miracle Morning book and the Miracle Morning book for Real Estate Agents. Both are great. This one for Entrepreneurs definitely had a lot more relevance to someone who owns a business with employees - or is a high-level manager in a business dealing with 'ideas' rather than the daily operations of the business or working a job.
I would recommend The Miracle Morning to any one, but if Mr. Elrod has created a version that fits with your career or your goals READ THAT ONE FIRST. There will be so much more insight you can gain on how the SAVERS habits are relevant to YOUR life.
Having read Elrod and practiced miracle mornings, I was interested to see if there was another perspective for small business owners. I found Cameron Herold's chapters on visioning helpful and in particular how to drive out goals and plans. Found myself reading the chapter on hiring a COO just as we started to hire a new combined CEO/COO role which have me some inspiration. Nevertheless I came away with a number of questions of how to apply it to our training and consulting business. My inner sceptic balked at the self-referencing and "magic" success "formula" . Perhaps I won't give up my IET, Economist and HBR subscriptions just yet
Couldn't do it. While not a morning person by choice, I understand the necessity of waking up and joining the rest of the world in being productive at a reasonable hour. However, I just couldn't buy into the message of this book.
As a great science fiction writer once said, waking up early to get more done is like cutting off one end of a rope and tying it to another to try and make it longer.
This world revolves around the 8-5 job, and being functional with that is mostly essential for success, but forcing yourself to perform in the morning when you're not a morning person, just gives actual morning-people the home-court-advantage IMO.
This book was written by Cameron Herold so I’m not sure why Hal Elrond is included. The book mentions the miracle morning but it’s now about that it’s just a buy-bait so you can get it. There is something about the miracle morning in the beginning but after that is all bout entrepreneurial coaching and for that it’s not a waste of time, there are some real god stuff in it but I’m still divided about the fact it’s not what the cover page says. I have read Hal’s miracle morning book and I though it would be a continuation of the voice is clearly Herold’s. It was good but you can speed read a lot if you have read similar books before.
This book had a lot of great ideas and I like the concept of the Miracle Morning - though I have yet to make myself into a morning person! I'm slowly working on it, though.
But man did this book need another edit! I wanted to give this 4 stars but the subject / verb disagreements, misspellings (for instance, bonus chapter The Entrepreneurial Success Formaula!!), the poor punctuation just threw me out of the book. The author, Cameron Herold, claims to have written a few books, and I REALLY hope he had a better editor for those. I broke out my mental red pen and corrected as I went along.
I remain wary of the 'believe and achieve' books. This one was actually pretty strong. It offered a concrete guide - and intervention - in morning behaviours. Particularly emphasizing the needs of entrepreneurs, it is a useful book for small and medium size business people, but also sole traders. Indeed, that is the part of the book that could be expanded and strongly. How the morning routine can be used to develop both active and passive income streams.
Good read if you want to implement some productive habits, i.e. 60 mns S.A.V.E.R.S (Silence 10 mns- Affirmation 10 mns - Visualization 5mns - Exercise 10 mns - Reading 20 mns- Scribing 5 mns) into your morning routine. I skimmed through this version and listened to the audio of the "The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life - Before 8AM". Skimming was easier and quicker and the content is the same.
An interesting quick read with good recommendations/advice/thoughts for Entrepreneurs but also I feel like a lot of this could also be applied both personally and as a Manager/Supervisor. I was actually trying to get a copy of the Miracle Morning but my local library got me this book instead. XD
Thankfully this does have a section dedicated to the Miracle Morning so I can get started on that until I get the first book through Inter-Library Loan. ^_^
The Miracle Morning is amazing. I refer back to it often and am always constantly working on this practice. It's based on the SAVERS acronym Hal Elrod developed for mornings that successful people have: Stillness (meditation), Affirmations, Vision, Exercise, Reading and Scribing (writing). Positively wonderful experience - plus it comes with an online community you can connect with. Highly recommend it!
Motivational, especially good when the edition I chose is for entrepreneurs. Many relavant tips that help a lot to improve business, especially the part about creating a person rather than just setting goals.
Even better is it comes with an APP ($288/year) that helps to track the Miracle Morning SAVERS, and as an OCD I really like it! There’re other book excerpts all on personal growth & I just bought a book!
Good for anyone not just entrepreneurs. The authors story is mind blowing and the fact that he was able to overcome both death/ serious injuries and cancer was a true testament to the idea that your body listens to what you speak to it. The methods he uses is a compilation of ancient practices in a digestible way. Certain elements of people reading their success stories felt a bit cheesy but overall I enjoyed it and will try to implement this ritual to see what differences it makes!

The Miracle Morning has changed my life. As an entrepreneur, this takes the Miracle Morning to the next level - to that of successpreneur! Truly elevating the consciousness of humanity one morning at a time! Here's to your success in business and life! Karen Briscoe, author & podcast host "5 Minute Success."
I enjoyed this book but like the other ones I’ve read (after the original one) you can pretty much skip the beginning and the end.
“Our level of success in every single area of our lives is always determined by our levels of personal development (i.e., our beliefs, knowledge, emotional intelligence, skills, abilities, faith, etc.). So if we want to have more, we must first become more.”
This book will both inspire you and give you the tools to implement its content. If you have no morning routine, take this with a grain of salt and do what you can that is sustainable. If you already have some kind of morning routine, this book will help you catapult it!
This book was completely life changing. I will read it over and over. Simple steps and a ton of brilliant knowledge for Entrepreneurs! Every business owner needs to read this book. It should be required reading in high school. So many life lessons. Wish I had this knowledge 20 years ago!
This book was recommended to me by a friend and I was warned that it was a hard read but you could take some good gems from it. And in all fairness, once you understand the importance of a good morning routine and skip the insufferable cliches and repetitive concepts, the last few chapters are pretty good.
This book is very helpful for any one looking to improve themselves in life. If you are not a serious entrepreneur some of the chapters might not be interesting. You will have to revisit this book once you are a CEO.
