This series passed so far beyond expectations that it's not even in the same solar system. The art was very good. One example is there was a "shot" just after sunset where the sky colors were perfect and striking. Terrific attention to detail.
The writing was magnificent as the main characters were real, three-dimensional people. There were places, however, that it was a bit difficult to construct the timeline in my head. The narrative had references, flashbacks or interludes that left me wondering if I had missed a book (or portion of) which was puzzling. It was fun having to fill in the blanks, though, as the story moved along.
All and all, an excellent series that tells a good tale and provides a serious glimpse into a very chaotic and frightening time.
Leslie Toliver has made it to Palestine with a cargo of arms in 1948 just in time to participate in the lead-up to Israel's War of Independence. Nicely done art, careful plotting, and a well done story line helps make this a success.
