Mated to the Alpha King

Rate this book
You’re beautiful and kind and very smart. But best of all, you’re mine.

Do you remember the stories your Grandma used to tell you every night about cursed beasts, village beauties, girls in red capes and wolves in disguises?

Well, maybe, just maybe... they actually do happen. Maybe, beasts do exist.

They do. I would know. I am bound to one.

Whom, you may ask?

Well, I am mated to the Alpha King.

How?

You will see.

You will live through it with me.

I am Theia Anderson. I am just like any one of you, human, alive, and breathing.

But unlike any one of you, I've stumbled upon a world that until yesterday... I couldn't even fathom into existence.

This is my story.

Jennise K comes from the beautiful country of Fiji and enjoys the tropical
Island climate only when it’s winter. She began her writing career penning down
poems all throughout her teenage life, and now in her early twenties she writes in
all sorts of genres. Something that inspired her to indulge in the Werewolf genre
was the fact that her all-time favourite fairy-tale is “Beauty and the Beast”.

When Jennise isn’t writing, she spends her time with her family at home, trying to
survive her way through university, graphic designing, watching Crime
Investigation Channel or Masterchef Australia, reading Harry Potter fanfictions and writing new chapters for her books on Wattpad-listening to Lana Del Rey.
Her books on Wattpad, such as “Beasty” and “Mated To The Alpha King”, have a
collective read of almost 20M and she loves all of her readers very very very much!

If Jennise could spend the rest of her life watching one thing-it would be Korean
Drama. She whole heartedly supports the notion that food comes before a love life
and is fully aware of the fact that she has no will power when it comes to denying
food. Her dream destinations are South Korea, Germany and London-where she
dreams of settling, one day.

hmmm….
description
Maybe, just maybe, I am the only one out of all the individuals that read this book who read Twilight.
Let me count the ways this book is the same of the ever beloved Twilight.
1. An Adonis, Bryce, with supernatural abilities, i.e., can grapple up stone buildings, jump from high balconies, is rich and is an ALPHA.
2. The MC, Thiea, is a pain in the ass, immature, but also old enough to purchase a scratch off lottery ticket, in high school, has 1 friend, moved from a sunny place to a rain-pit, a virgin, did I mention a pain in the ass?
3. A Jacob aka Rome, who is another ALPHA, has the deep need to protect the MC, fights with said Adonis from #1.
There are more similarities but let’s just stick with the ones that out shine all others.
On to the book, I have never in my life read a book where the protagonist takes more showers than the one in this book. She takes a shower to wash off the shower she took 10 mins ago. I swear to you she had 8 showers in the span of one chapter. AND not only is she showering non-stop she makes the Adonis shower. She takes 3 hour showers, showers in the middle of the day, when she wakes up, when she goes to sleep, when she has to pee, when she eats dinner, when it rains, when it is sunny, when she reads a book….. you get my jist. SHOWER. I am honestly surprised she still has skin, considering how many showers she has taken.
description
Not only is she a shower taking freak she is also immature for an 18 year old girl. Here is why:
”I stilled as I felt a pressure on my lower belly, causing Marley to turn around and look at me quizzically….I needed to pee….Still frowning, I let go of her hand….”

Ok, first, is she so immature she can’t say “I have to pee”? On top of that, why she holding her dear BFFs hand as if she were a child needing to be guided?
”Fuck my life!”

Yet, she can cuss like a sailor.
Let’s try and be one age, shall we?
I won’t complain about the entire book, it has its good points too. The writing was AWESOME. I loved the flow, the build of mysterious characters, Bryce and Rome. There are several things to love about it, if only the showers can been be curved and the immaturity level of the MC.

What prompted me to reread something that I rated so poorly the first time? A reading slump and curiosity. I came across my old review of this book and was curious if my rating would change since my reading preferences have changed since then. While my rating and thoughts really didn’t change, I could see why I finished it the first time. It’s full on teen angst, werewolves, and possessive alpha moments.

What made this a two star read for me was that Theia is a bit dumb, Bryce needs communication skills, and this book was extremely dragged out.

Theia put herself in situations that she didn’t need to be in or should have used better judgment first. How you ask? She heard someone scream in the woods outside her house and she ran out of her house with no shoes or no phone to call for help for them or herself. Let alone that it didn’t really have anything to do with her. Besides being a bit slow, she let Bryce get away with too much.

Bryce. I thought I might like him more now since possessive alpha love interests are my thing. However, I’m still not sold on him. He acted rash and my goodness was I sick of him growling and saying “mine” to Theia. People in that town let him get away with so much. Too much really! Showing up to the high school and literally throwing things because he couldn’t find Theia. Let me mention that Bryce is 24 years old. So he shows up to the school and punches a guy in the face who scared Theia in the woods. Such a wonderful guy. *sarcasm* They let him do whatever just because he was the alpha king and his wolf was so sensitive. *rolls eyes*

Since I’m on a roll, why is this book so damn long?! It was over 500 pages and I don’t understand why. The majority of this was just either Bryce throwing a fit, Theia being dense about something, or just Theia’s day by day life. While the big reveal at the end was a surprise, it took too long to get there. So much of this book could have been cut down.

As you can see, my rating stayed the same, but I had more thoughts about it. I saw that she released Rome’s book back in 2019. I’m still going back and forth on it because I wasn’t a big fan of this one and that book is also over 500 pages. Maybe one day I’ll get to it.

I really wanted to like this book.

Things that really got to me were the all the grammar mistakes, the choppy writing, and the timeline of everything.

Theia was one of the most immature, annoying, indecisive characters I have read in a long time. She was always going back and forth about how she felt for Bryce and the being in the castle. Her inner monologue was tiring as well. The book really could have done without her talking to herself all the time.

For Bryce to be an alpha king he sure was a big ass baby. Like seriously, the guy acted like a kid who didn't want anybody to play with their new toy when it came to Theia. How many times can somebody say "Mine"? I don't think I have ever rolled my eyes that much. And can we please talk about all the growling? That was excessive.

I felt like the timeline was off. She was was only there for like a week and she already has best friends and saying that she loves these people. another week she's in love Bryce.

There was really nothing believable about this book. Her parents are okay with their high school daughter being a mate this 24 year old alpha king and spending damn near every night with him. I get Theia was 18, but cmon!

Overall the book might be good to some but this was just a miss for me.

Interesting plotline. Did not care for the writing style though and the persistent 'Twilight twin' vibe; so two stars.

COMMENTS/NOTES: There are Beauty and the Beast/Twilight/FSOG aspects, but very little. This is able to stand on it's own. Theia and Bryce do take us on a journey from childhood to adulthood, but in a very real way agonizing way. We all hated our teens, liking and disliking, to finding first love. Theia and Bryce actually find true forever love, which has its ups and downs, but there's always love between them.

This book was seriously difficult to get through. I can understand the allure of an all-consuming romance, but this book just read like a toxic relationship. Hmm who wouldn’t want a boyfriend who controls your every move and gets jealous at the slightest communication you have with other people? The book was 10% plot, 90% showers and toxic behaviors. This is not a book I would recommend especially for teens who are trying to decide what a healthy relationship looks like.

I fear for the future

If this is the kind of story we applaud, I fear for where we are going as a society. An 18 year old who is dragged physically around by an adult, guilted into sex with an ultimatum, and everyone in town ignores when he dictates rules and carries her where he forces her to go? Her parents even support him and encourage them to fuck. Seriously, this woman needs to see that this is far from love.

I read this on Wattpad and really enjoyed it, despite it having some issues with timing of events and obvious editing errors. I purchased a copy wanting to support the efforts of a newly published author, and I still enjoyed the story the second time I read it.

However, I must say that I was disappointed that this version was not significantly edited from the original version. The only major difference I noted was Mum had been changed to Mom. There were still timing issues with when events occurred and what season it actually was, and there were many grammatical errors. If I am paying money for a book, I feel it should be professionally edited, and this was not the case here. So, while I rated the original (free) unedited version four stars for the great story, I am rating this version one star lower due to its lack of professional polish.

This book is an addiction! You'll want to read it everywhere. Each chapter keeps you wanting more. It's the perfect definition of romance, and it has tons of action! You won't be disappointed AT ALL! And can I just say— Bryce is hubba hubba!

I did like it..

Bryce, Theia , her parents, Leh, Theia's friends were all fun.. I loved Bryce and Theia's relationship. Theia's parents' relationship though? Goals. As expected, there was drama, anticipation, a lot of Possessive Alpha Male Bryce which I liked. I loved Marley, Mathew and Rome. Those people were there for her forever, especially Marley. Standing up to an Alpha King and blatantly lying to his face requires guts.

I did find it a bit weird that every guy Theia met, fell in love with her and wanted to be her mate. They still loved her even when they knew she was Bryce, their Alpha King's mate.

This was an intriguing story, and it kept my interest as it is very long and took me several days to read it. I enjoyed the creative story telling and will be reading the follow-up book about Rome once it is completed. This young author is very talented and has a unique style in her delivery.

There were some improper references to how U.S. educational systems function, and the seasons and timing of events were difficult for me to follow. For instance, I thought it was a cool season in the state of Washington, but the heroine and her friend skipped school and went to the beach in bikinis. Also, high school graduation occurs in May or June, but no mention was made of Theia actually going through the ceremony even though she is a senior. There were many such confusing suppositions in the story, but I understand the author is from Fiji and not really familiar with the U.S.setting of her story. She also used a lot of non-American references, mum in stead of mom, etc. All in all, though, these idiosyncrasies were easy for me to overlook because I enjoyed the characters and engaging story so much. Great job, Jennise. I'm really impressed with your work!

I came across Mated to the Alpha King on Wattpad and wanted a genuine read. This novel clearly exceeded my expectations and I was delighted to devour the book in a few days. It explores the supernatural side of things and everything whimsical. I honestly believed that it was a sweet little romantic novel alongside heartbreak and pain.

It does give Wattpad vibes, but I liked it.

There were quite a few mistakes, and the age gap was a little questionable, but the tropes were exactly what I was looking for, so I let it slide. The fluff also good in my opinion.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

I'm a sucker for werewolves and vampires books which is why I picked up this book. Overall it was likeable and had a nice plot.
The Hero-Alexander Bryce Wilhelm was appealing and hot alpha male, always in growling mode and damn possessive.
As for the Heroine, she was by far my least likeable character here. I found her insecure and immature. For two scenes, instead of just conversing with the hero and addressed the situation she ran into hiding and behaved immaturely thinking that the hero is breaking up with her or has someone else beside her... Theia named after a greek goddess, woman you're supposed to be kickass.
Not only that but the heroine considered herself a nerd and an idiot which I agree with the latter. Back home she was a nerd and as soon as she arrived at Piedmont, every guy is falling in love with her (Alex/Matthew) even though she was the Luna and belongs to Bryce.

And then there was Romanov/Roman/Rome, you dude I liked you a lot.

I really appreciate the speech that Bryce made before proposing and those promise rings before, 1 star for that speech.

This book is an addiction.
There didn't have many empty, trashy, meaningless sentences in this book just seemed to be there to take up some spaces. Also, the scenes were also well-elaborated that I can imagine them well like I was in the book, facing the troubles and all the other things with them.
This book, isn't just a typical werewolf/alpha book, if only better.
This is a book that makes you laugh, cry and feel the pain, the happiness, the characters felt.
This is not just a book, but a living fantasy inside all of us...
I could never ever got bored with this book.
I am so proud of you, Jennise. From Wattpad to here you are now, I, we all, witness it all. Thanks for sharing this magical work with us. Here I wish you all the best, and once again, thanks for sharing this with us.

I think I started this in early March. I deleted the ebook from my library today. I did not finish. I was more than halfway through and nothing was going on.

Spelling errors, grammatical errors, punctuation issues, run on sentences... endless problems

The plot is not clear, the characters are not developed. The heroine is supposed to be from California, moves to Seattle yet she speaks with modern London (English) slang?

The heroine's age is obscure. One moment she's 17, then when sex is mentioned, she becomes 18, close to 19. But still in last year of high school.

Mother is actively encouraging her teen daughter to 'do it.' This whole story is an editor's dream (or worst nightmare).

I give 2 stars because, if edited, shortened & cleaned up - basically re written - this could be a dam good story.

Sadly, it sucks balls.

Okay, so this author truly frustrated me with her writing. I'm not sure if she is a new author or what but darn man the editor of this book should have caught some of these errors geesh! So, what frustrated me the most was back and forward of Theia's narrative of American English to a British English and the British slang words she would use when clearly she was born in American and never visited England, I mean really Author? Anyway besides those irritating errors, I did enjoyed the story line and plot. It gave me the possessive alpha male action I was looking for. It also give me a suspense and thriller, I just love that. So job well done on that part. In conclusion it did deserved the 4 Stars I give it...

The premise of the book would have been great. but I have to say i couldn't even finish it. It was that bad. The writing, yikes it read like a 10 year old wrote it. My 13 year old writes better in english than this book read, and English is her 3rd language. With every turn of the page the h had so much inner dialogue that it drove me crazy. Do we seriously need to know that before she went to bed that she plugged her IPhone in and set her alarm up for the next day? Paying attention to details is one thing but to over emphasize of minute details it makes the book drawn out and dull.

I could not finish this, I made it 15% in before I had to give up. Maybe if I was still in high school I would love this book but it's a no for me. It is similar to twilight in crazy ways, and I loved twilight. I think it would be good for readers in this mind set I think I've outgrown these kind of books.

Over 600 pages people...

No it's not a epic tale that takes you across galaxies. The good news is it helped me fall asleep a few times before I finally gave up. The sections that would have made this book interesting are just fluffed over. The supernatural aspect should have been the focus.

What we do get is a teenage girl who honestly doesn't read like she's 18, 16 perhaps. At a push. The miscommunication that continuously happens is eye roll inducing. Don't let me get started on the TSTL .... Sigh....
