Wow. Just wow. Stunned. No words. Those last few chapters and the way everything unfolded. Epic. These were my exact thoughts and feelings after finishing this book. Now that I have had some time to compose myself I will attempt to do a review that will do this book justice.

Czermak sure knows how to make this paranormal snob a happy reader!!

I’ve been waiting for this book for a long time and it didn’t disappoint at all!! As a huge paranormal fan this story gave me everything I could ever ask for in a book. The backstory, the plot, the build up. Everything was on point. I loved how the story unfolded and the pieces of the puzzles all started connecting and I had several aha moments!! The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat and I did not see that coming from a mile away. The way everything unfolded and came together had my jaw dropping.

“things can be replaced, but people: no, their uniqueness is forever lost to darkness once their lights go out…”

Czermak has such a way with storytelling and I honestly don’t know how he outdoes himself every time, especially in the paranormal genre which is a very hard thing to do. Another thing I loved about the story was how I felt like I was alongside the characters. Czermak is one of few authors who can actually make me feel like I’m apart of the journey while I’m reading every time and I love it!! This book was such a good read because it had some powerful life lessons and several moments in this book that will stay with me for a long time. All I know is that there HAS to be another book. I’ve grown fond of the gang and I need to see where the future takes them!

The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett is the first Golden Czermak book I've read/listened to and also the first paranormal/shifter book I've picked up since probably Twilight. I really just don't normally gravitate towards paranormal. I'm so happy I took a chance on this one though! Czermak wove together such an intricate world with characters you will cheer for and some that you will down right hate! Be prepared to fall down the rabbit hole once you enter the town of Goodman, GA!

Listening to the audio book made everything so much more vivid. The fears, the pain, the joy, and the heartache are all amplified. Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott really hit this one out of the park. Wen's performance was especially amazing and I was hooked into the story right from the start. It took me a little bit to get everyone in the story straight and to get used to the flashbacks and time jumps, but once I did, I couldn't get enough! Truly an amazing book/audio book and I hope there's more to come!

I am usually a very fast reader but not this time. I took my time reading, soaking in each and every word, taking in every detail, picturing the scene letting the book play out, the words became pictures like a movie in my head. Not every author has this talent but Golden Czermak definitely does.
There is something very special about this book and I just can't put my finger on why it has touched me so much. Maybe the fantastic details of the supernatural in the human world. Or the underlying story of the spoiled entitled rich kid jealous of the poor kid who has nothing but self respect. A battle seen everywhere not just in the magical land of fiction. Or maybe it is because of the age of the characters  (young adults) we see them struggle with everyday average problems,  form lasting unbreakable friendships, develop young love at it's sweetest time all the while supernatural chaos is brewing. Or three friends forming a bond and are ready to take on ANYTHING together! It gives hope in their fictional world and even a bit in our real life world.
At any rate all of these made it a book I will most definitely read again because it gave me a warm feeling in my heart and had an amazing action story for my mind. I have loved all his books so far but this one is by far my favorite.

**Update did a reread July 2018. Just as fantastic as the first read. And still my favorite by him.

Where to begin...

If you love Stephen King books, where all the finer details are added in, with a mix of dry wit and foreboding, then you'll enjoy The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett.

I have read all of the Swole books and The Steam Tycoon, so, I thought I knew what I "might" be getting into with TSLCB, but I was wrong. Wrong on every level of being wrong.

I feel like if I tell you anything about the book, it will give it all away, because the whole book is like one giant pile of spoiler. So, I won't.

Instead I'll do the objective review.

All of the characters were well defined. I didn't see the ending coming or the connection to some of the puzzle pieces till then, which is awesome. I tend to get bored with books when I can figure out who did it, before the half way mark.

Setting the scene was amazing. I could see the streets, and the people. Smell the snow on the air. I loved even the smallest of details as well. However, as much as I enjoyed them, sometimes I thought it dragged the plot a little. (But not enough to not keep reading)

I liked the legend work as well. But, I was also confused. There is a point where they talk about the different wolves... But again, it didn't detract from the story at all.

The pacing was perfect as well. It's so much information that sometimes it felt a little rushed, but again, it didn't detract from the story. I liked the multiple character inputs, it seemed to give the story an extra bit of insight and motivation.

Then there is Liam... *sighs* I saw potential in this character to learn from his mistakes. Hear me out. Sometimes you have characters who over compensate for things. Liam's life, no matter what he had, wasn't easy at all. It, in a way, made proving himself the top priority. (Even if it meant bullying.) I think his father enabled him too. I also think in his own grief, he gave up on Liam as well. BUT! Well...to me anyway. lol

Other than all that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It took me a couple of days to read, because I wanted to savor it. When I got to the end, I kind of whined. I wanted more. And, that's how you know whether or not you've written a great book.

Thank you, Golden, for giving me a chance to read TSLCB. I can't wait to see what else you come up with!

"There are no secrets that time does not reveal." -Jean Racine

Get ready for one hell of a ride riddled with twists and turns you won’t see coming. Czermak held nothing back! It’s rare to find a book where you find yourself loving all the characters. Cooper may be the center of the novel, but the author slams you with intricate details into all of the characters’ separate worlds.

"The soft drizzle had started to change into snow when a piercing shriek cut through the glares."

I’m a lover of all things small town, and that’s where Cooper Bennett’s story begins. Goodman, GA comes to live with Czermak’s written words and let me tell you the secrets it holds will shock you. Your heart will crack for the life Cooper endures, and then the story ensues.

"Every single birthday that came and went in Cooper's tumultuous life turned into a mess. Not the kind that was easy to clean either, but full on explosive diarrhea that coated everything with a thick sludge that would, without fail, leave something stinking behind."

Cooper has an enormous job placed on his shoulders with plenty of villains mixed in. I found myself loving the characters you hate!

Cooper Bennett lives big with no regrets. I’m not going to give away the ending that’s up to you to find out just be ready for one hell of a ride.

*disclaimer*
Romance Fantasy isn’t a genre I typically read with that being said Czermak sucked me into his fantasy world without a second thought. There was no I could put down this book.

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars! This is by far the author's best work yet, and that is really saying something if you've read his other paranormal series. This author is blessed with an amazing talent of creating a world that you truly feel like you are a part of after just a few pages. I stopped reading paranormal a while back because they were all starting to sound and read the same. Not with this author! He uses new and different words to describe things and build the story that makes it seem like something brand new.
In The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett, we meet a young man who is abused and bullied by his father at home, and again by Liam, the spoiled rich jock at school. You quickly learn the kind of character that Cooper has by how he reacts (or doesn't really) to this treatment. We also meet his best friend Billy, who is the best kind of friend a kid can have, and Alyssa, the girlfriend of said jock that Cooper has had his eye on for years. This is the story of young love and friendship that knows no bounds. Cooper is unknowingly introduced to the supernatural world one night after Liam and some of his friends get their hands on him. He quickly finds out that his life is changing, both physically and literally. He is thrown into the middle of an age-old battle between good and bad, and we begin to see him grow into a strong male, fitting of an Alpha.
I couldn't help but fall in love with these characters, and cheer on the good ones, and I must admit, cheer when bad things happened to the bad guys! I love the references and cross-characters from the author's first series! I did not want this book to end, but I couldn't put it down!

Amazing how one life develops around many others in a single area. How one event led to another and another, and you recall characters from past Journeymen storylines and how they impacted this story. You get a "so that's how that started or happened" thought as a lightbulb is constantly going off the more you turn the page. This story is not just about one character, Cooper Bennett, it's also about keeping the balance of order amongst werewolves and the whole supernatural world. The humans sadly are always in the middle of such conflict. The emotional details tear you down and rip you apart then slowly put you back together again. It's not just about the action, the fight between good and evil, it also shows you how one person lived in a constant state of fear and abouse while another meets the consequences of their bullying actions. This story brings a whole new perspective about the Journeymen world and how they are in a none stop battle agains all kinds of evil.

I just finished reading The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett, my very first Golden Czermak book. And Im in shock, and here is why. I am not a paranormal reader. Not at all. But once I started reading Golden had me hooked. The world and the characters he created for this book are amazing. I didn't want to stop reading. I wanted to know all of these people and be a part of their fictional world and fictional lives. I felt for them, cheered them on and even with the "baddies" I really wanted to see them squirm and suffer.
So who is Cooper Bennett? Well he is a severely neglected teenage boy from a small town with a lot of secrets. Copper's father is a bully and abusive. But Cooper doesn't let this bring him down. In spite of this Cooper is a nice kid who is determined to rise up and be more than what his town thinks of him. He is loyal and fierce and loves those closest to him with his whole heart. Now due to some paranormal goings on, Cooper finds himself going through a lot of changes and finds he gets involved with a world he never could have imagined. And this is where it gets REALLY REALLY good. The plot twists and characters that come to play at this point had me so immersed in this story. I'm still thinking about it all. And hoping we get more!

First let me say I haven't read paranormal books really and am not a fan of shifter stories but the imagination and writing talent of Golden dragged me in and held be throughout.. I kept wondering what was going to happen next .. How would Cooper who was abused so much as a child from not only his dad but the school bully deal with things that were happening around him? Would he maintain his good character and protect the ones he loved or would be sucked into the deep dark underworld?

Another amazing read by Golden

Golden Czermak has once again used his storytelling talent to give us this action packed and emotionally charged story set in a small town that is hiding BIG secrets. This story revolves around a long tradition of conflict between the human world and shifters who live among them. It grabbed me from the beginning with the wonderfully descriptive writing that I have come to enjoy with this author's books. Mr. Czermak gives you many things in this tale- it really has everything! There's love & hate, prejudice & acceptance, wisdom & ignorance and that eternal battle between the "haves" and "have-nots". Cooper Bennett, through his daily struggles to survive, embodies that admirable quality we love to see in our heroes...Knowing you're in for a difficult journey but getting up anyway to fight for something better. By cleverly leaving hints of both past and present events, Golden Czermak will leave you eager for more of the story when you reach the end. I hope he doesn't make us wait too long before we see get to experience more of this incredible story.

For me as a reader, this story is everything that I love about reading paranormal books.

Once again Golden has completely impressed me with his writing and creativity. The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett was fantastic from start to finish!! I could not put it down!!

Golden has a way of sucking me into these worlds he creates. Cooper is by far my favorite character of Golden’s. He’s down to earth, broken, and is put into this new life unexpectedly. My heart just felt for him and I loved reading about him. The friendships he has with Billy and Alyssa showed that real friends are there no matter what. And the bad guys, I love to hate them. They were great, especially Liam.

Golden’s writing is so detailed that it brings vivid images in my head as I read. I pictured this world and these characters as I was reading and I felt I was right there with them.

There is so much more to this book than it being paranormal. Even if you usually don’t read paranormal books, you will love this one. Trust me. It’s easy to read, fun, and a real page turner. Go one click!!!

Have you ever read a book, and then tried to write a review, and nothing you could come up with did it any justice? This was that book for me. The imagery that the author creates throughout the pages is amazing. The story literally comes to life just like watching a movie, in your imagination. It takes a very talented writer to be able so spin that kind of tale. Golden creates a world that could possibly exist in the next town over, unknown to us.

A boy, from the wrong side of the tracks find himself in an unlikely situation, out of his control. A girl from a well off family finds herself pining for someone she shouldn't. A friend who would do anything for his best friend. Bullies that aren't as they appear. Elements of paranormal, romance, and drama ensue. I can't wait for the next in the series! Well. Well done.

FIVE STARS FOR COOPER BENNETT!!!! Golden Czermak has done it again. Like there was ever a doubt. The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett, in my opinion, is Golden's best book yet. And that's saying something! He has a magic way with words that draws you into the story so deeply, it's almost like you are living in their world. Not only does Golden create these characters and their stories, he also creates their entire world!

Cooper Bennett's life has never been easy. His father is not a good man. Instead of feeling sorry for himself and continuing the cycle, he looks for ways to better himself. Even when the odds are severely stacked against him, he puts other people first. He is fiercely loyal, a great friend, and an amazing person. Kind of like Golden.

I highly recommend this book. I suck at giving reviews because the words get all tangled in my head. Just buy this book. BUY IT!! I own every single book that Golden has written. I will always buy his books. I have them on my kindle and in paperback. He's just that good. Do yourself a favor and buy the book. It is like nothing you have read before, and that's a great thing!!

WOW!!
He did it again! Have you read Golden yet? You really need to! He has a way of spinning a story with such detail that you can feel yourself in his worlds.
My heart broke for Cooper from the start. This story is raw, tragic and heartfelt. True PNR. And as usual, your are kept on the edge of your seat till the end. Golden is quickly becoming a master of words and worlds, epic story telling one after the other.
Copper Bennett will capture your heart and have you bracing for the end.

Everytime I read a new Golden Czermak book, I'm blown away. He's the only fantasy I read and will be the standard I hold other fantasy authors to. The imagery through his words is just fantastic. I can always see the scene as it plays out giving me the best experience of the book and his amazing writing. The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett was different to the other novels that Golden has written but in a good way, it made him more well rounded in my eyes. I loved this book, there were sad parts, happy parts, parts I wish were different, but overall it was an awesome read!

New favorites and a few familiar faces are all part of a story that will knock your socks off. If you're familiar at all with Golden's books, this one will not disappoint, in fact, I believe it's one of, if not his best to date. Golden spins yet another tale, weaved around his epic world building skills. As he takes you through the pages, you see the story playing through your mind like a movie.

I loved the friendship between Cooper, Billy and Alyssa. Even though, Billy and Cooper come from the same side of the tracks, their home lives couldn't be more different. Billy comes from a loving home with supportive parents, even if they are just scraping by. Cooper's home life is the opposite, a father who would just as soon hit him as look at him and treats his son as an afterthought at best. Alyssa on the other hand has parents who are more worried about keeping up with the Joneses rather than seeing their daughter happy. These three, against all odds, form a bond that proves itself over time.

My only issue with this book was that I couldn't get enough of it and now that I've finished it, I want more. Golden, you are the master, when do we get the next installment? :)

Just wow!!! This is the BEST work yet from Golden. And the paranormal read was so well written. I was hooked from the beginning. The feels and capturing your interest right from the start. If I could give me than 5 stars, I would.

The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett was beautifully written. The story line from the beginning and all the way to end. I was in awe. My heart hurt for Cooper and the life he had growing up. His heart was bounded to Alyssa and Liam. These characters came full circle at the end. Goodman, Georgia is a town to be reckoned with. And nothing will stop Cooper from losing his town.

Not many books give me a book hangover. I'm still reeling from this. Golden you did it again. An OUTSTANDING READ!!!

As I live and breath, I will never understand how this author can bring his characters to life and make you feel like you are part of his books. The thought process that goes into each 1 of his characters is just simply unheard of. He hand picks his models, to which are deemed worthy, to portray his characters, teasers and book covers for his books. I recommend you read the Journeyman series to fully understand The secret life of Cooper Bennett but it is not necessary. If U have read the Journeyman series then you will definitely recognize some familiar characters.
The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett is brought to life in the little town of Goodman. Cooper had a rough home life but his best friends Billy and Ayllsa made it easier for him to endure. Cooper not being the popular kid at school was always picked on....until that night in the woods. The town was beingt attacked by shifters. Cooper, Billy and Ayllsa have to save their town.
Paranormal at its finest. Plenty of shifters. Made me wanting more and I can not wait til the next book..

The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett tops all of Golden's books so far! Golden has a way of bringing a book to life. His descriptions of the people and their surroundings are unlike any you have read.

Once I started this book I couldn't put it down! Cooper Bennett can never seem to escape the abuse in his life, from his father at home to Liam his bully in school. Cooper doesn't let it get him down though. He is the a character that you can't help but hope that life gets better for.

If you are a fan of paranormal with loads of action, charaters that are easy to fall in love with and some pretty evil bad guys, then this is the book for you!

So, we have been waiting for what feels like years for this book....it was worth the wait.

We began with a clash of two werewolf packs. The struggle for power and on the part of the Shadow Pack Alpha, a desire to get back what was taken from him. Intriguing.....

We then follow the life of Cooper Bennett, smallish boy from the very poor side of town who's treated no better than an animal by his extremely abusive father. (I don't usually wish hateful things on people bot this fool, ooh he made me see red!) His best friend Billy is also poorish but at least he has loving parents. Then there is Cooper's love, Alyssa...she's not from their side of town yet she sees a kindness and a "certain something" in Cooper. And poor Cooper, as he grew up he became the target of the town's resident bully, Liam...who happens to be the son of the Light Pack Alpha.

Even with the odds against them Cooper and Billy do not put up with Liam's antics or those of his entourage. Liam is used to doing what he wants because he knows he will one day be Alpha and daddy's money has gotten him out of trouble each and every time. Trust me, you are going to want to punch his lights out a time or two.

Not to get into all the goings on let's just say....after one brutal beating Cooper finds himself in the hospital recovering from, can you guess, a werewolf bite. Now things are going to get a little more balanced and a little more interesting around town. Lance Goddard, the bad Alpha, is setting up to strike out at Grayson, the Alpha of the Light Pack, and recover whatever it was that is being kept from him. (and it is soooo nothing I would have thought of). We have deals struck, deceptions carried out, and the return of old allies.

This was a page turner for me. I got caught up in the story. Rooted for the good guys....booed the bad and laughed at the allies snarkiness. Thoroughly entertained by it.

5 It's More Than It Appears Stars!!!

All I have to say about this book is WOW, WOW, WOW!!! This is another artistic masterpiece by Mr. Czermak. This story is an original in a small Georgia town that had me drawn in from the first pages.

Cooper Bennett is a young man that grabbed my heart because of all that he's overcome. His life has been in summary, hellacious! He's overcome so much and he's given this burden to save his town and hopefully get the girl he loves. But there are some villains that are bound and determined to stop Cooper because their lives are on the line.

There are so many players in this battle between the here and now and the supernatural that Cooper has unwittingly been exposed to. While Cooper is my favorite character of this book, I can honestly say that I fell in love with ALL the characters, even the most evil of them all. Call me weird, but the way this story is written, I have mad respect for the those that are trying to conquer the world. This is all due of course to Mr. Czermak.

His vivid descriptions of the town and his attention to detail down to the littlest fact is brilliant. I felt the heat of the day, the coolness of the nights and the air vibrating with the battles. I also loved how Cooper, Billy and Alyssa forged a friendship that knows no bounds. Which given how they each grew up in and of itself would almost dictate they wouldn't be friends. I think this shows their individual strengths and realizing there is power in numbers and when you stay true to what you believe in, anything can be achieved.

If you're looking for a read that is masterfully written, allows you to become part of the story with every descriptive word and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time, then The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett is the book for you!!!

You Play The Hand You're Dealt!!!

Cooper Bennett grew up with an abusive and alcoholic father who didn't care about anybody else but himself. He was bullied at school by Liam Manning. All he wanted to do was leave Goodman.

He only had one frien, Billy Arnett and he was the only one who made his hellish life in the small town bearable.
Alyssa Noble the girl who had been invaded his dreams for over a decade finally spoke to him.

Well one night Cooper was attacked by Liam and his goons aka friends. For talking to "his girl" meaning Alyssa. Let's just say that attack changed his life as he found himself part of the supernatural world.

There had been a raging war between Grayson Manning (White Wolf) and Lance Goddard (Shadow Wolf) for decades. Now Cooper who's life had changed found himself stuck in the middle of this war.

Love how Cooper grew into his strength. The connection between him, Alyssa and Billy was alluring. I enjoyed how all the characters had a POV.

THE SECRET LIFE OF COOPER BENNETT is a paranormal novel by Golden Czermak. The latter has a way of pulling you in with his words. Which are beautifully written. It was a mind-blowing journey. 5 Golden Stars!

After reading the synopsis, I was really looking forward to this book. Not only is PNR my favorite genre but I've got a soft spot for werewolves so I couldn't wait to get my hands on The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett. As always with Golden Czermak, there was plenty of detail and depth to this book. Now 18, life is starting to get pretty interesting for Cooper Bennett. He's had a rough upbringing. Things aren't great for him and I felt like every day was a new battle for him. The one bright side and constant being his best friend Billy. I loved their frienship and how Billy's family embraced Cooper as if he were a part of it. This story was action packed and engaging with some humor. At times though, it was kind of hard to keep up with whose POV we were reading as it changes quite a bit. There were parts of the story I wish we could have experienced instead of being told about and there were also a couple details that were left out that I wish we could have gotten answers to but overall I thought this was an entertaining read.
