I am a fan of Cookie Monster, KISS, and Dr. Who (along with most things British).
As a person who always dreamed of writing as well as one completely enthralled by all things zombie, it is hard to believe that I never once considered writing in the genre. It is true. I wanted to be more “mainstream”. The first novel I actually wrote is titled Dakota (as Todd Brown). It is about a pair of DEA types tossed back in time to just prior to the start of the Civil War. They are in Charleston, South Carolina, and one of them is an African-American.
The zombie thing really started when I wrote a short for a college Creative Writing class. The teacher, Ms. Bose, pulled me up and told me I had an obvious love for the subject and a real talent for the style. I decided to give it a shot.
The first thing I cobbled together was Zomblog. I wrote it as a warm up for the project I had brewing in the back of my mind. It is a journal account of the apocalypse. The funny thing is that it was never intended to be published. A few things happened and it ended up being presented to me as a gift in book format by my wife for a Christmas present. There was something I will never forget about holding the copy of that book in my hand the first time.
Because it gained a readership, and those readers asked for more, I made it a trilogy (Zomblog, Zomblog II, and Zomblog: The Final Entry). It is also because of those fans that I have returned to the Zomblog universe and just released the sixth (and FINAL) book in the series on Halloween of 2013: Zomblog: Snoe's Journey. I freely admit that I will sellout my plans to write what the fans ask for.
I really want my DEAD series to be what I am known for, and in the last year, it has really taken off. However, I will say that with the release of the fourth book in the DEAD series (DEAD: Winter), the numbers started to pick up beyond my wildest dreams.
The DEAD series (DEAD: The Ugly Beginning, DEAD: Revelations, and DEAD: Fortunes & Failures, DEAD: Winter, DEAD: Siege & Survival, DEAD: Confrontation, DEAD: Reborn) is scheduled to be a 12 part epic series.
It is told in three rotating chapters. One is from the first person perspective of Steve Hobart, a man thrust into the role of leader for a group of survivors struggling to keep alive. One chapter follows a group of four self-professed zombie “geeks” who initially believe that the zombie apocalypse would be fun and soon discover that it is nothing like the movies. The third of the rotating chapters is called “Vignettes” and is a series of snapshots from all around the world. Some of the vignettes are single chapter episodes, others are continuing threads that carry on for several chapters. A few are merged into the Steve story or the Geek story line.
Last year,I began my horror/comedy series, "That Ghoul Ava" and have found it to be my new guilty pleasure.

Volume two picks up right where volume one leaves off. Evan, now convinced he is infected, leaves his companions to do one or two last good deeds for his dog and friends. His adventures continue to lead him astray as he meets new survivors, some friendly, some horribly evil. He is forced to face his own nature as he has to fight the living, perhaps descending into a murderer in the process.
We see much more of the evolving world as Evan fights for his diminishing life. White supremacists and other groups are starting to divide up the crumbling landscape into fiefdoms. He desperately tries to remain true to his morals as he watches his own humanity slip away.
The zombie apocalypse, though still recent, is more deeply revealed in this second installment. Evan holds onto his last grasp of his past as he wants to do just one more good deed for his dog. This fixation makes him relatable, even though it puts him in extreme and continual danger. He’s lasted longer than any other infected person and he’s planned his short future on this one questionable fact.
The story is more interesting and elaborate than the first volume. And if you’ve enjoyed the first installment, you will very likely like this one even more.
Once again, TW Brown performs his own novel. The listener is used to his voice and flaws by this point and just goes with it. Here is a recap from a review of the narrator from the first novel: Brown’s voice is pleasant enough, sometimes stumbling over phrases and not always differentiating the characters well. His female and male characters sometimes morph into each other. On the other hand, he lends a personal tone to the story. No one knows a story better than the author and the listener gets just a little more depth from certain characters for it. It is a personal taste and one can’t really say if his reading is a positive or negative, adding in some ways and detracting in others.
Dead Alone is better than the first book, both in depth and detail. It is basically a retake on the many zombie stories. But by book two you are invested in the characters and want to see how Evan and his friends get out of impossible situations. You’ve read book one, keep going for more gruesome zombie fun. You’ll likely want to listen to the sequel(s) too.

I liked this one even better than the first one. Usually I am 'worried' about reading a series because a lot of authors get you hooked on the first book then it all goes downhill from there. Not so with T.W. Brown. I have read all of his books and was fortunate enough to be a Beta reader for this book. Each installment he sent to the Beta group was attacked by me with the ferocity of Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" opening his package from Little Orphan Annie. In the beginning of the book Evan has distanced himself from the group in book one as he believes himself to be on the verge of being infected. I found it very noble that he desperately attempts to use the time he has left to bring provisions back to his group. The fact that the bulk of the provisions were for his beloved dog, Chewie did not detract from his nobleness in my opinion. Any of us who are dog lovers would feel the same I believe. In his attempts to aid the group in his last desperate hours Evan runs into one mishap after another and is forced to make some horrific choices. I love the way the author presents Evan with situations that really made me think about what I would do in those same circumstances. Most of them were heartbreaking. The book definitely left me wanting more which is what I imagine any author would hope the outcome would be. As with his other series I would recommend you read this without any hesitation.

Makes me want to read the other series by Brown
So for the good part 1st; I know about The Dead series but chose this new one to start with. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing is natural, not stiff and nothing but the author trying to sound intelligent by using huge words and a.thousand different synonyms only serving to sound pretentious rather than interesting. I love the characters, yes even the bad guys! I love the storyline even though we have no idea where the.virus came from. Now the bad; it's German.SHEPARD, not SHEPPARD, or even Alsation sometimes. The author said he wanted his readers to get to know one character, this one being Evan Berry. Unfortunately, we only get to know the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE EVAN.BERRY. We don't know why he chose to teach music, any particular instrument or sound? What's his favorite music? What's his favorite color? Does he like beer or whiskey? What was his childhood like? What's his favorite car? How did he propose? What did him and Stephanie like to.do? Newfs are awesome dogs but where did.they get her? How did they pick her? What else does he like besides Chewbacca from Star Wars? We know nothing of Evan's past or pre-zombie present and even less about Stephanie.
Still, do yourself a.favor and read the series, it's quite a great read, then do the author a favor and REVIEW!

It was a good read
I really loved The Dead series the new Dead series I'm not as much in love but I really like it . Evan as character is annoying I have had pets as well and I loved them but this dude is ridiculous he literally care more about a dog than he do the children he is more worried about getting dog food than food and water for like the people who has saved his butt on more than one occasion . I don't think there is any saving this character for me he sold his people out I just can't root for this guy anymore hopefully next book we will have better characters to root for there is a few but I'm afraid they will be killed so I'll wait and see .

This was way better than the first book, we got to know more about Evan, and that's what makes a great story, characters we care for. As with all of TW Brown's novels Zombies aren't the worst thing to worry about, humans make up scarier problems, and Mr. Brown must know some very shady people (hahaha) because the villains in his books seem all too real, if you want a sit on the edge of your seat read, this is the one to pick up next.

a very solid follow up to the previous book, the first book was underwhelming in a lot of ways and evan isnt an instant hit. This man is not the legend that is Steve Hobart, he isnt a bad ad nerd like Kevin. Or the Billy who had to grow up to fast. With all that said, does Evan step up? Yes, he steps the fuck up, think TW. Brown just need time for the story and character to cook. Im really happy with this follow up and im on to the 3rd~

Full of action, drama, criminals, and zombies. the story keeps your interest for sure... easy to just get lost in this world of survival during a zombie apocalypse. Simply amazing!

Patience is not my virtue...
Okay.. I appreciate the forward Todd wrote on the conscious decisions he made regarding this story development....but still.. can you speed up the releases already!! From a story Point of view, it would be good to get more before Stephanie background for character development. Evans initial decision that started this segment I don't buy based on dependence of steph's view of what his behavior should be...no formal goodbyes would not be her style....just my opinion. I liked the overall actions and consequences that is being brought out in this story.....looking forward to where this will go

Sometimes surviving means letting parts of the old you die and hope thy they don't come back to haunt you. Evan does his best to survive in a world verging on the edge of a full blown apocalypse but those around him are falling apart and prey to the things that go bump in the night.

Starting to love the new series!
I've learned I'm not good at writing reviews. But I have to say that I've read I believe, nineteen books by T W. Brown. All I can say is his books never stop surprising me! He's a great author and he doesn't disappoint.
