In Grayson Sherbrooke’s second Otherworldly Adventure, he goes to Scotland to Vere Castle, the home of his aunt and uncle, the Earl and Countess of Ashburnam. His aunt Sinjun had written to him that her resident ghost, Pearlin’ Jane, warned that evil was coming. But Grayson doesn’t make it to Vere Castle. He’s stopped by a mysterious carriage, a beautiful white hand extends to him, he touches it and he’s gone. When he comes to himself, he has no memory of the missing day. Pearlin’ Jane (see The Heiress Bride) warns him that Lady Blackthorn isn’t what everyone believes she is, she’s something beyond this world. Then he remembers what happened to him that lost day and knows it isn’t trouble that lurks, it’s evil. Grayson goes to visit his Aunt Sinjin at her request because something evil is going to happen. On the way there Grayson meets a carriage and is taken away to a place called Border. He gets set free and makes it to Aunt Sinjin’s only to discover he is missing a whole day, then strange things begin to happen. This is a quick and fast read. I like Grayson’s character and enjoy how he along with some help solve the evil problem. I would read more in the series.
Cathrine Coulter delivered as always a story that kept me wanting to know how the story ended. The part I enjoyed most is Pearlin Jane throwing the Pearls at and around the first demon. The part I can say I least enjoyed was that the ending was so soon. I loved the familiar characters Cathrine brings in her novels. It was wonderful to see Sinjun and Colin again.
The Resident Evil at Blackthorn Manor: 4-Stars Grayson has received an urgent letter from his Aunt Sinjin of Vere Castle in Scotland. She desperately needs his help to deal with what the resident ghost, Pearlin' Jane, calls "evil trouble". When Grayson arrives at Vere Castle, he is missing a day and has a splitting headache. Apparently, this evil demon wants to play hardball and Grayson is just the mortal to take her on.
Grayson Sherbrooke goes to visit his aunt and uncle where he is confronted with an evil demon that is determined to prevent Grayson from thwarting it at attaining its desired evil intent. Some of the characters from Wolffe Hall appear in this novella and provide their own insight and suggestions that lead to them being able to get rid of the "resident evil" at Blackthorn Manor. Cleverly constructed.
Grayson has been called to Scotland by his aunt, with only saying there is trouble. When he is almost there, he is wisked to another realm with no memory of being there. When he gets to his aunts castle, it seems he was missing a day. Now he and Pearlin Jane must try to fix everything before someone dies. This was a real page turner you don't want to miss.
I have read many of Catherine Coulter's books and this one was not one of her better ones. The reason I gave it 4 stars was it was a short read and it was well written. But the whole premise of this book was implausible. The author tried but did not succeed in writing an interesting story as far as I'm concerned.
Enjoying these Otherworldly Adventures novellas not to mention Grayson-he holds my attention, he's always in the mist of ghosts and demons and needs to set things right. It was nice to revisit the characters in The Heiress Bride.
This story kept me wanting to turn the page to see what would happen next. Catherine Coulter did not disappoint me with this story and I am glad to have enjoyed it immensely. Can't wait for another one.
I fell in love with Catherine Coulter as a high schooler. Read all her Sherbrooke books! This was a fun find. Nice fun easy reading. (Not Middle School)
This is another example of my favorite author, Catherine Coulter can do. She pulls you in with mystery, deaths, and legendary tales of old with one of the characters from her series of the Sherbrookes. This us the second book of her new series and it will grab you from the beginning just as her FBI series, the Sherbrooke Bride series have. I could not put it down its a fast read and it has you wanting to keep reading and reading... Love Grayson can't wait for his next adventure Thanks Catherine Coulter you always spin the most wonderful creations of mystery, history, and laughter and always leaving it to the end where there is no end (for wanting more) Love your books...
At first I thought I wasn't going to be able to get into this book, but I kept reading and really enjoyed it. It makes me want to go back and read the The Sherbrooke Bride (Brides, #1). I liked this book but I liked the first one better with Pip, Grayson's son. I don't like to give the story away, so I will just say if you enjoy Catherine Coulter and you remember Sinjin and Colin from the Brides Series, then you will enjoy catching up with them again.
For someone who loves the Sherbrooke story line, this is a quick afternoons read. Colin Sherbrooke is in danger and only Greyson can save him, only if he can keep his wits about him!!!
Loved the mystery and the Sherbrooke family. sinjun and Colin haven't lost their passion and mystery in them. Grayson still has it. Keeps you entertained.
Another exciting otherworldy adventure with Grayson Sherbrooke!
This time he was battling two ancient demonesses. And he had help from Pearlin' Jane!
The build up was very well done, with the carriage abduction and the tower scene, then to the enchanted party. I felt a bit cheated with the climax and how the demons were defeated, it seemed too easy, but I understand trying to keep the story short and concise.
I love the Sherbrooke family and can't wait to read Grayson's further adventures!
