Jay was raised on a balanced diet of Star Wars, 80's TV, and romance novels. So, naturally, she has a partiality for tall, dark-haired, space heroes and military men in thigh holsters.

When she's not having lunch with her most-excellent author friends or marathoning Netflix, you can catch Jay writing sexy space adventures, wolf-shifter escapades, and contemporary action romances.

Despite the many trials and tribulations of her characters, it is universally acknowledged that they will discover their one great love. A love all time and space will lie down and be still for.

I actually enjoyed this a lot more than the first book. I was impressed with the military exercises and well thought out details. Even though there was still a lot of intimacy (🌶) between the characters, this book showed more growth and action. Despite traumatic events, Julia and Mark get through it with courage and humor facing challenges together with their chosen family.

The Hunted is written in the classic sci-fi vein, by which I mean, it’s an all-around great story and space adventure with plenty of action, and full of heroes determined to overcome the most impossible of circumstances and difficult of ages. And the reader gets the sense they just might. In other words, it’s not your typical dystopian fare of which the market seems ridiculously over-saturated these days.

What I love about this novel: 1. Great flesh and blood characters I can empathize with and project myself into; 2. Very believable world-building—the writer knows her science, her hi-tech milieus, and how they come together to paint a very believable far future space adventure; 3. And, oh yes, the romance is pretty hot.

It’s perhaps time to speak more to the romance element. It doesn’t consume as much page count as it might in your typical romance. At times it even feels like the romance is more part of the B-story than the A-story. But that’s only because the writer integrates both sides of the coin so well that the romance is an integral part of the story as opposed to being emblematic of a lot of self-indulgent writing. In your typical sci-fi romance the exotic settings are just pretty window dressing, like trimming the f*** bed with palm trees instead of banana trees. It doesn’t take long for the reader to figure out the trimming is hardly what matters. Jay Shaw’s characters, by contrast, need their steamy encounters, and their love for one another to stay sane in an otherwise insane world, which strikes me as motivation aplenty for the romantic element.

So, as long as the reader is looking for a good story, and not just another soft-porn distraction from their daily routine, he/she has come to the right place.

The Hunted (Dragonus Chronicles Book 2)
By: Jay Shaw
5 out of 5 stars

The story The Hunted (Dragonus Chronicles Book 2) by Jay Shaw is a science fiction/military book. This book finds Colonel Mark Holden still missing after being kidnapped by the Arcadian’s Grand Chancellor who wants his race to run the galaxy. He is determined to make his race superior though genetics which leads him to experiment on humans with the X2 gene. We also find Julia Holden back in a life that she no longer identifies with and hurting because of the loss of Mark. What is in the cards for these two lovers? Will they every be reunited? Will the Arcadians achieve their goal for domination of the galaxy?

This is an amazing second book in the Dragonus Chronicles. It continues the story from the first book and gives a better look into the Arcadians goals. You are reunited with the characters in the first book plus new ones. The story is well written and I had a hard time putting it down. I love science fiction and this book has everything a science fiction lover could want. There is plenty of high-tech gadgets and the battles where they are used. Reading the first book to me is a must in order to be familiar with the worlds that are referenced and the situations that continue on. I highly recommend this book to escape to another world for the afternoon. It does have adult language and situations which would make this a book for those 18 years or older. I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

I received a copy of this book from TBC Reviewers request- Thank you
This is the second book in the series and it follow seamlessly on from book 1 so I would really suggest that you read the first book before this one or I’m not sure you will get the full impact.
The story picks up from where book 1 left off Mark is missing and the battle for the galaxy is in full swing. Jay has continued to make Julia a strong character, her partner is missing but she’s not taken to her bed with a case of the vapours rather she is facing the challenges head on and being a key part of the story!
Another cracking read!

The hunted by Jay Shaw.
A fantastic read. Jay has done it again. With Mike still missing Julia has gone home. Can Hayden find Mike? And send him home to Julia? I was hooked from page one. Loved the fight between Julia and Blaze. I'm hoping there is more to come. 5*

I'm so glad that I got to follow on Colonel and Wings journey with them! This was just as good of a book as the first one, picked up seamlessly, and as soon you read the first page it immerses you right back into the story! I found myself cheering on the Colonel and Wings through all of their tight spots, they had a lot this go around! Once again, fabulously written, and can't wait for the next!

This book has everything - romance, adventure, intrigue and danger from a nasty enemy. Jay Shaw has created a fantastic heroine in Julia, aka Wings, she's brave, clever, loyal and funny. Her relationship with her husband Mark is beautiful, as although they are both strong-willed and used to being in charge, they complement each other so well. The action scenes are extremely well-written, very exciting and dramatic. The supporting characters are great, especially Mark's best friend Hayden, who never gave up on rescuing him from the evil clutches of the Arcadians.

This is a perfect follow-up to The Space Colonel's Woman, and I can't wait for the next book in the Dragonus Chronicles!
