Alpha Prime #2

His Curvy Mate

Rate this book
Most shifters give near-feral Alpha Prime Creel a wide berth – and he likes it that way. At least, that’s what happens until he wakes up with a crazy woman in his bed who insists that they’re mated, and seems to know everything about him – right down to the scar on his inner thigh. Sure, Miranda’s curves are sexy as sin and her scent makes his wolf howl with desire, but bitter experience has taught him what happens when he lets anyone get too close.
Creel’s still reeling from a devastating betrayal, and he’s vowed to live out his life alone. He should be relieved when Miranda’s pack drags her away. So why does he find himself tearing a car apart to rescue her? Why is he offering his protection, even though he can’t offer his heart? And will he open himself up to her before secrets from their past threaten to destroy them and their new territory?

Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.

Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).

When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.

Loved, loved, loved! Is it horrible to wish the author had no life outside writing so I'd get even more books? Yup. Completely aware how crazypants that sounds.

I was literally tearing up a storm on every book related subreddit earlier today, looking for this book. Crowdsourcing is great. I found it though and here I am giving it 5 stars because of how much this has destroyed my life today. And the fact that I read this in January and woke up some random day in July and decided to spam every subreddit with details from this book.

Here is what I asked on Reddit:

Hi guys, so there's a book I vaguely recall having the main character be this plus size girlie who lives/works out of an abandoned house with clapboard siding and sells candles, except no one buys her candles? She's an Omega werewolf and the Alpha of her pack apparently mates with all the Omegas so she goes into some area, finds an Alpha, and pretends they mated, and this guy who's a loner is SO CONFUSED but doesn't exactly tell the guys that are after her that it's a lie. She's like his roommate for a bit too???

Oh and they live in some forest area designated to shifters and packs make money by working and building stuff here. That's why her old pack is there, watching her and the Alpha.

There's also an Owl shifter who's neurodivergent and she's really awkward with other people there's a romance there too with her and some other guy.

Oh and there's a mystery about some human government spy.

It was really funny but I can't remember the name !!!!!!!!

Ok guys I'm go make dinner now

Adios 🌊

This was an "ok" read but nothing original. It felt like dozens of other shifter romances I've read. I'll still check out more of this writers work though. At least it was offered as a kindleunlimited.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

As always loved the book. Creel, I was wanting to read his story really bad and hoping she was going to write him! He was sooo mean and growly and for some reason we are drawn to those type of broody types! :) Miranda...I have to say she was persistent but she's had a hard time at life. Howver, as many times as Creel hurt her feelings or treated her not so nicely she still went back and did nice things for him. She was a bit of a push over sometimes but she really did finally find her backbone and kicked some butt! I was proud of her! Creel really came around and it was really sweet when it was just them especially when they first got together. Wow...that was dream worthy! This was emotional sometimes for me because we've all been that girl who was made fun of or teased in some horrible way. So, I could relate to Miranda quite a bit. Loved the book and cant wait for more!

Best book ever!

I absolutely loved this story! The characters were fantastic! I love how we got to finally see Creel meet his mate, and what a captivating scene it was. Miranda is soft and strong and able to speak to the dead and Creel is hurt and angry and in complete denial over the circumstances in his life. The author took the entire group on an entertaining and enthralling journey to once again beat the bad guys and reach the HEA I couldn’t have expected. This book is a phenomenal weekend read and I can only hope the author brings us more just like it in the future.

Action packed and emotional.

I loved it! There is as so much going on and most of the time I felt that Miranda was going to get snatched before Creep could claim her! The story was intense and deep. I quickly became addicted and read all night.

His Curvy Mate is basically a shifter romance where, in the end, the good guys win, the bad guys get what's coming to them, and the next sequel is set up. There's a formula, and sticking to it usually produces readable books, if not great literature. This book doesn't exactly stick to the script, but it's close enough. The hero, Creel, is a real Alpha wolf shifter, and a typical alpha-male arrogant ass. His back story was too contrived to be believable, it didn't make him sympathetic, and I just plain didn't like him. The heroine is supposedly a BBW and half-wolf, who is nonetheless able to shift. Neither of these characteristics makes much of an impact on the plot - a sad case of missed opportunity. Instead, Miranda emerges as the typical sweet and plucky but clueless romance heroine. There are so many minor characters running in and out of the story I found myself wishing for a program or a scorecard to keep track of them, until I realized it really didn't matter - see the first sentence above. There's one notable exception: Granny's ghost. For a dead woman, she's incredibly vital and engaging - she saves the heroine and the book. As far as plot goes, the story here is pretty contrived, with lots of pack politics, blood feuds, and tempest-in-a-teapot conflicts. If you are into shifter romances, sexy alpha-males with more attitude than sense, and damsels-in-distress, then you will enjoy this book despite its flaws. I'm a bit more demanding, so i'm not going further with the series - unless they give Granny her own book.

We met Creel in the first book in this series, however his past still remained a mystery. So it was great to finally get his story. And I loved the chemistry Georgette created between him and Miranda. I loved how strong and smartass she was. I loved how she kept getting up no matter how much she was beaten down. I loved that she embraced her differences and never tried to hide them. I loved how she softened up Creel and inserted herself into his life. My only complaint is the ending felt super rushed. The challenge between Miranda and another shifter was over in a few sentences, leaving zero time to build tension and worry for the reader, and the ending was incredibly, easily resolved. I would have loved a bit more action, more drama and more tension. Even so, this was still a fantastic read and I definitely recommend for shifter romance fans.

It’s cute and interesting.

This author writes about curvy women but not really. She says the characters are curvy in the title or blurb but she gives little to no descriptors that show that in her stories. I’m okay with that but I wanted to make the readers aware of that.

This story was funny and slightly unusual in that I couldn’t tell if it was a fated mates kind of relationship or if it was a choice. It was unclear. She also never answered how the FMC knew about the birthmark. I can speculate but I’d prefer that it be written by the author. Still it was funny. The conflict resolutions were rushed. I enjoyed it. I like this author. I LOVE her side characters. They are almost always AWESOME.

Enjoy.

Another Wonderful Story

Creel is a hard core alpha prime wolf shifter. He is nearly feral, which is why he stays as far away from people as he can get. But people won't leave him be. And when he wakes up with a strange woman in his bed who makes him feel calm, what does he do? He pushes her away! But Creel is not cruel and when she needs help, he reluctantly gives it. This is the beginning of some huge changes in his life, his territory, and the people who live there. Who knew one woman would be so much trouble. This was a great story. So many wonderful characters and side plots. I loved it.

Loved the story. Not sure which is the 1st book in the series but I read this one hoping it wouldn't make a difference.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that Creel didn’t deserve Miranda, honestly. There was so much going on in this book (it’s the first in the series I’ve read), and it left me a little confused at times but I guess that is expected when you start your read in the second one! I really liked the emotional buildup . It was a total edge-of-your-seat material.

I’ve got to give a shoutout to those mate-struck-but-jealousy moments—they were so good. I absolutely loved them! 😂

Georgette St. Clair comes highly recommended by my friends, and I want to read more of her books.

Creel wakes up next to a strange woman, Miranda, who claims to be his one true mate. But when her evil backwoods relatives step in to break them up, Creel has to decide just what kind of alpha and mate he is going to be. Not a totally original plot, in terms of shifter romance novels.

Amazing world building

Creel is a gruff, foul tempered shifter. He lives in the newly established shifter territory alone. He fears going feral until he wakes up next to Miranda, a fellow shifter. Miranda is part witch and talks to ghosts. Her grandmother is hysterical. I found the politics fascinating and the romance sweet. Awesome read!!!

What happens when surly alpha prime Creel awakens one morning to a sexy shifter who not only claims to see ghosts, but also claims to be his mate? Yet somehow he has no recollection of this happening? Trust me when I say all kinds of wackiness ensues. An interesting cast of characters from a very literal shifter owl desperate to understand social cues, Miranda's dead granny giving advice and getting jollies spying with her ghost posse on poor, unsuspecting Lovers Lane visitors... And harassing her ghost friend Hanks ex son in law.... To the surprise arrival of Creel's twin brother.... One would think a welcome turn of events? Not so much... As we learn the history to WHY Creel is so antisocial and grumpy all the time. We also get to see a few favorites from past books like Dakota and her mate... As well as Brandon (Dakotas alpha prime dad).... When a huge meeting for Alpha Primes is set to occur in their town and rumblings of humans trying to derail it abound.... Who is the spy? Not to mention the evil doings of Miranda's ex pack members desperate to take her back to their pack leader through any means necessary. It's like an evil form of keystone cops. More and more we see the nice underbelly to Creel... Fall in love with both Miranda's motley friends and Creels unofficial pack. See how things make out in the end.... Conspiracies, ghosts, evil minions and spies oh my!!

Creed gets a mate but is he already mated?
Alpha Prime Creed is the miserable cranky loner Alpha Prime with a huge chip on his shoulder we met in book 1.
How Miranda stayed so sane after the treatment she had been subjected to in her old pack amazed me, just what they did to her in the car was enough to make me get my bat out. Miranda was lovely and just bubbly, perky and brave enough to be the perfect woman for Creel.
I loved how she crept into his bed and he didn’t even know. Miranda was just right for him and I am glad they have their HEA.
It was fun meeting some more quirky characters in this crazy new frontier. But I am glad I don't live there with all that Alpha Prime posturing.
I just want up know what happened to Jazmin.
Nice to have Miles and Dakota getting some time in this book too.
This is my honest review of this book.

Running from and to her destiny

Miranda has always been different. Her father was a shifter and her mother human and ran off. Pack had taken her in until they figured out she "talked to imaginary" people. In truth she could talk to the dead or some of them. A cousin -in-law found out and wants her as a mate so she can talk to some dead guy to find some treasure. After running away, she goes to Creel hoping he will play alone just till her old pack mates leave and give up trying to take her back.
Lots of action and adventure in this well written and very entertaining story to read.

Just the right balance...

I have yet to be disappointed in this author and this is one of my favorites so far. The reluctant Alpha Prime and his saucy sexy and 'gifted' 'mate' are extremely well developed characters. There's twists and turns, suspense and sex and wonderful dashes of humor throughout the story.

While this can certainly be read as a stand alone, and I'd still recommend reading this book if that's the way you want to go, I'd highly suggest reading the series in order since characters from past series make appearances and knowing the back story fills out the story a bit. :-)

Love this cast of characters

First off, let me say that I love to read Georgette's books for the inventive characters she creates. This book is no exception. In this book we have a candle making, martial arts butt kicking, talks to the dead, half wolf heroine, an Alpha Prime wolf who has given one of his wolf friends silver bullets to kill him when he goes feral (which he is sure will happen soon), a socially inept owl shifter, a frying pan wielding cat, and a ghostly Grandma who loves to offer advice and play pranks. Put them all together and you have a book that's full of surprises and tons of fun. Oh, did I mention how sexy the hero is?

I love the fact that Creel was getting his own story. His story definitely drew me in from beginning to end there was also twists and turns that I wasn't expecting but lots of action, suspense, humor and of course steamy romance. While this can certainly be read as a standalone I'll totally recommend that you read the first book in the series so more or less you can have an idea of characters that made a appearance. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC I haven't been compensated in any way.

Awesome sauce

As usual, Georgette brings it on and kicks it out of the park.
Miranda is trying to scape a forced mating when she sneaks into Creel's bed and pretends they're mated. Creel is not too happy about that, liking it better tp be alone after moving to the southern territory to leave behins bretayal and all humanity.
But when her pack mates come get her back, an Alpha Prime Meeting is been planned and a spy is around, they find themselves trapped in a bigger mess than they expected.
