I run fast. I play hard. I make the girls' panties wet.
That's all that matters.
When I left home, I never thought I'd be back.
There's nothing left for me there.
Except Ava.
I stopped thinking about her long ago.
My sister forced me to go home for her wedding. Now Ava's all I can think about.
She still has the same sexy curves. The same tempting lips.
She needs me, even if she won't admit it.
She has a daughter now. The kid looks a lot like me.
Ava says I'm crazy. I know she's lying.
I'm taking control, whether she likes it or not.
But I'm not the only one who wants to control Ava.
If anyone hurts her or my daughter, I'll kill them.
But first, I'm showing Ava who's boss.
Dirty Quarterback is the first standalone book in SJ's Blitz series. If you like Tia Siren , Teagan Kade and KB Winters , then you'll love a series that combines all of their best traits in a fast-paced, captivating, sizzling hot romance.
Heroine has a secret baby the one and only time she sleeps with Hero (or anyone). The town is very judgmental of an 18 year old having a child out of wedlock so she is kind of an outcast.
Baby daddy aka Hero is a football player. He comes back into town for his sister’s wedding. He has an on/off girlfriend who is a complete bitch.
Secret baby who is now 3 has a heart condition that requires surgery or she won’t survive. The heroine does not have money for this operation and thinks about telling the Hero about their daughter and her condition multiple times but every time she thinks to open her mouth she instead opens her legs! Heroine slept with hero knowing he has an on/off girlfriend who came down for the wedding, yes Hero does tell her they aren’t together but when he’s with his girlfriend he never can break it off with her.
It seemed receiving an orgasm was more important than getting surgery for her daughter. Her priorities made no sense, shes more into making the Hero jealous than thinking of a plan to raise money for her daughter’s surgery.
The Hero came off as very old hearted too, before he finds out that shes his daughter he does find out that she requires surgery yet he doesn’t openly offer to pay for the surgery. He only pays after he knows shes his.
Basically, the hero and Heroine sucked!

3 Star Kindle Unlimited Read: I did like the leading lady at all. A mother with a sick child would conquer mountains come hell or high water to get what her child needed to be healthy. If my child were dying and her father was standing before me regardless if his bitch girlfriend was there or not I would spill to save my babies life.
However, the author redeemed the story with the ending. I enjoyed it.
It has many redeeming qualities. The characters were likable at best neutral at worst. The writing was much better than expected. I developed an interest that withstood to the end. The plot was nice, somewhat original or had its own unique flair. The writing was good, and the pretense wasn’t half bad, the romance was simmering with few exceptions. The male/female lead showed hints of abuse both verbal and/or physical or signs of spot-on or forced chemistry. It was a tiny bit predictable. Overall, liked it enough, entertaining.
**I voluntarily received an Advance Reader Copy of this book**
Not going to lie, I can't stand many romances that are sport related. It's one of those genre's I haven't had much luck in reading because they typically involve cheating or main characters who are just so full of themselves. And I'm not going to lie, Carter the main male in this story really is an egotistical a$$.
Ava and Carter had their one chance after Ava graduated from high school. Ava was off to Harvard, her best friend and Carter's sister was off to California and Carter was making his way up to be in the NFL. But everything changes for Ava after she sleeps with Carter the night after graduation.
3 years later everything will come crashing down on Ava's head, but will Carter believe that Ava kept everything a secret for the right reasons?
On a technicality there is a bit of cheating. Carter is kind of with Olivia, but he still sleeps with Ava twice. I didn't care for the constant back and forth Ava did with telling Carter about the child. You would think that her daughter's health and medical would be more important than those few minutes of orgasmic bliss. Overall this book is 3.5 stars for me. I would definitely read something more from this author.
I'm not even sure how to review this without spoilers. My head is spinning at how absurd this whole story is. The lead absurdity is how bad of a mother Ava is. If your child might die, get over yourself and tell her dad he's her dad before she is within 48 hrs of dying. Next Carter is a terrible hero. He's is screwing 2 women? Maybe more. I had to finish the book to see how absurd it would continue to get. Each chapter dropped my jaw more on how unreal each turn took.

I couldn't stand this book...every time Ava had a chance to tell Carter that Lily was his something always happened to stop her I got to part 4 and she still hadn't told him....that is frustrating and made me skip half the book to the point I DNF it. Worse book ever!
***I received an arc copy of this book and based on the blurb i was very excited** unfortunatley this book fell short for me. The characters were more about themselves than the child. It also dragged too much for me. I think it had potiential it just fell short.
I hate leaving bad reviews but honestly I thought this was awful. I couldn't finish. I had to skim. The characters were awful to each other. He was the worst type of person. Let Olivia talk the way she did and didn't say anything. Treated Ava like complete garbage. Cared about nothing but himself. I couldn't stand him. And she was weak. Everything was about sex to them. Oh hey. Your back. Let's have sex. Ugh you have a gf I hate you. Wait. Let's have sex again. Even when your kids dying and in surgery there's still time for a quickie! Sorry but there wasn't anything I liked.
I love me a good secret kid rekindle love book, this wasn't it. Can someone tell me how it ended I pushed to get to 60% then quit. The Myron thing was corny and a bad spoof on a murder mystery. I hated HATED Ava and her inability to do anything except have sex while her daughter is in the hospital. She is every girl I hate combined in one person. Carter was an idiot and the side story with his stupid sister, her fiancé, and Oliver just was lame. I had high hope with the reviews, clearly I was reading a different book than everyone else
The writing was a little juvenile for an adult romance book. "Hard mass in my pants"? Really? The storyline wasn't that bad. How the story was written left a lot to be desired.
SPOILERS - This review contains spoilers. I really don’t give negative reviews as generally I think I probably couldn’t do any better but I wrote a 4 page book about a unicorn and a rainbow when I was about 7 and I think it was better than this. Ava, hooks up with her best friends brother, Carter and gets pregnant, doesn’t go to Harvard. Fast forward 3 years she’s a struggling single mum working 2 jobs, parents ridicule her yads yada. Her daughter (who she apparently loves) has a heart defect that is fatal so when Carter returns to town (who is a star smug athlete.....of course) rather than telling him he’s the father and asking him to help with the LIFE SAVING surgery she hooks up with him many times and acts like a teenage brat. Jealous tirades about his on and off super model girlfriend (cough standard bitch Gillian) Contemplates sleeping with her boss for money but doesn’t pull her head out of her butt to get her daughters rich quarterback father to pay for the surgery. Oh and some guy she works with is infatuated by her and tries to kill everyone. Honestly this was so juvenile I wanted to smash my kindle but managed to read it all just amazed at how pathetic the main characters were. Sorry but a total thumbs down from me.
This was the stupidest book I've read to date. I didn't even get halfway when I had to stop reading it.
The hero and heroine both come off as very selfish people. The heroine's daughter needs life-saving heart surgery but every time she gets the hero alone to tell him she needs help financially, all she does is end up sleeping with him. No sense of urgency at all with getting her daughter the surgery she needs as she is DYING.
The hero is always in bar brawls and fights, and is always drinking. He is so irresponsible that he drives under the influence of alcohol, even if it is under the legal limit.
The book is so predictable that you can already tell that the heroine's admirer is causing all these "accidents" to happen but no one, not even the police, suspect anything. So I guess every character in the book is either stupid or clueless.

It didn’t work for me, so many things didn’t flow or make sense. Like if your child was sick wouldn’t you do anything, including contacting her father to tell him and ask for help, pride comes so far behind your child’s health and just because your child’s father has moved on doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be told about his kid, it’s a pretty shitty thought, that a dad should only know his child if he takes her mother too. Also why cancel an insurance policy if your child is prone to sickness. Then there’s Carter, how a man can walk away from a child who has been given 48hrs to live because he’s butt hurt that he hadn’t been told it’s his kid before then. Even if she wasn’t, if you have money and a friends 3 year old is dying you give them the money! Well I would anyway! I guess I just didn’t like the characters, Carter was so selfish and Ava was woe is me for a situation she created.

It started off really good, and I could have looked past all of the grammar mistakes and the switching from 1st to 3rd person POV. However, this chick just kept getting more and more irritating. Like I'm sorry all is forgiven (AGAIN) just because he shows up at your job? Have some self respect! Then the story just ends at a really weird point! Without giving anything away, it's at a really dramatic and anguishing point and then all of a sudden it ends and goes to the epilogue, which wraps it up I guess but I just like a little ending to my story before I get my "update." It could have been really good, but all in all it was just mediocre. Although I did finish it and sometimes I can't so I guess there's that...
I loved SJ’s Bad Ballers series about the patriots. I was excited to see she did more, and it involved my team... this book is like its by a different author. The characters are horrible! They’re not even remotely sympathetic... the female lead has a child dying and a stalker, which screams sympathy and she’s the worst!!!!! Ugh.. so disappointing. And the preview for Axel’s Therapist is filled with horrible characters too... and the sex scenes are weird too! Almost amateur
When I was sent a couple chapters of this book in a newsletter email I knew I had to read it!! I was thrilled to find out I would not have to wait for it to release to read it!! I have actually read several variations of this story but this one is the BEST by far!! The story grabs your interest from the beginning and keeps it till the very last page. I thoroughly enjoyed this book by SJ Bishop and can't wait to read more by this author!!
This book was full of love, sex and drama. Great read.
Ava and Carter had one hot night three years ago that brought Lilly into this world. Ava declined her acceptance to Harvard to bring Lily into this world. Ava never told anyone who Lilly’s father. Carter was suspended for getting into a bar fight. His coach suggested that he head home to Dove Creek to get his head on straight. Never did he expect to run into Ava again and find out that he had a daughter.
I received this book as an ARC for a honest review. I was captivated by this book in the first chapter. This is an amazing story of what love and confusion can be like for two people who feel like they cannot talk to each other. Ava does the most ultimate sacrifice for Carter. This book will have you being happy one minute and sad the next minute. This story is worth reading for anyone who enjoys a great romantic relationship.
What obstacles do you come up against, when it comes to love? This is a book about what it takes , and how you overcome some huge obstacles. There's friendship, danger, disaster, hopes, dreams, scare tactics, desire, and a bit of sex involved. The old adage of, "What does not kill us, makes us stronger," is all over this book. Loved it.
This book started out okay. It's well written and the characters were sort of interesting... even though they could not carry a conversation without having sex. Then BAM.. the end? & I'm expected to buy another book to find out what happens next? I don't think so!
What a tangled mess, Carter messes with his sisters best friend and then gets his career on the line. Another hot and steamy romance gone wrong to right itself, or will this be a bad situation for all involved? Wicked plot, womanizing idiots and a baby to boot. Loved it!!!
This is a very good read. This storyline has plenty going on evoking many emotions. The characters are likable and relatable, and both characters and storyline are realistic. This read was very entertaining. This is my honest review.
I'm sorry I read 38% of this book & stopped because I felt Carter was a complete idiot & Olivia got on my last nerve. My heart broke 💔 for Ava & Lily. Even though my heart broke 💔 for Ava & Lily I couldn't continue to read this story. I still love ❤ S.J. Bishops books 📚.
I'm just not sure about this book. I finished it only bc I hate starting a book and not giving it a chance. I hated the back and forth between the characters. The book wasn't entirely bad but not one of my favorites either.
I really wanted to like this more, but it just didn’t work for me. I didn’t like Carter or Ava. I didn’t feel any chemistry between then and sex scenes were really boring. It’s a short read and the writing isn’t bad, but overall the story didn’t work for me.
