Swept Up: A Maid In LA Mystery

Rate this book
The fourth and final installment in award-winning & bestselling author Holly Jacob’s Maid in LA mystery series--It’s a climatic end for Quincy Mac, LA’s favorite maid!

Quincy Mac came to LA as an aspiring actress, but when she inadvertently cleans a murder scene while working as a maid, she finds love, laughter and a bit of mystery!

Quincy Mac's life has changed a lot since the day she accidentally cleaned up a murder scene a few years ago.

She's still a mom and business owner, but now she's also newly engaged, a successful screenwriter whose move of the week, based on her first mystery, has been nominated for multiple awards. She walks the red carpet wearing her star-shaped glasses and thinks her life is just about perfect. But the feeling doesn’t last long. At the after-party… she finds the body of the most hated woman on the set. How do you find a killer when all the suspects hate the victim? But she has to find the real killer since most of the suspects are her friends and family. The clock is ticking and LA’s favorite maid needs to solve this mystery, fast!

Fans of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plus series will love Quincy and her friends.

Holly Jacobs leads a life full of romance and adventure. From skydiving to jet-setting around Europe, from snorkeling in coral reefs to writing while wearing beautiful silk peignoir sets and popping chocolate bonbons, Holly Jacobs leads a life that is the epitome of romance...

Well, my fictional life sounds more interesting, but not better than my real life. Really, I'm the happily married mother of four. I cook a lot, garden and weave baskets! I write for Montlake Romance and Harlequin. My books range from lighthearted comedies to more serious dramas...but at heart, they're all stories of love.

I don't always set out to write a series of books, but seem to find myself gravitating to them. Because so many people have asked, I've posted lists of all my series in order at www.hollyjacobs.com/bookseries.html. I really try to make each story stand alone, but many of my readers enjoy reading the series in order. Hope this helps!

Thank you to everyone who's picked up a single book, or more of them. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so much support!

Holly

Triumphs and disasters

A wonderful read (but only 82% of the page count). Her script has been turned into a movie and most importantly it has won an award. The celebrations are marred when the most unpopular and uninvited member of the cast is murdered. With all her nearest and dearest there, she's definitely not going to take a back seat on this one. Cal, knowing her well, has already taken the time off to help her. With the leading detective giving his go ahead too, the pair start looking into the case. Was this a case of someone striking against her or was it unrelated that it was her party? Can they solve it? Will the end their pre-engagement and really get engaged? A wonderful plot and a terrific bonus chapter for all you romantics out there. Terrific.

Absolutely Terrific Book !!!

I love the way Holly Jacobs manages to make her characters come to life. This is another amazing story that has Quincey and Cal working together to find out who the killer is. Very enjoyable read and "Yes, Holly" I do hope there a Book 5 in this series.

Quincy has become successful in her writing career and won a Mortie for her efforts. At the party to celebrate her award another dead body was found with a Mortie in her hands. Quincy and Cal work together to find the killer among their family and friends. This 4th book has more romantic interest. No more as there will be a spoiler.

I enjoyed the series. And the last book with the death of Mellie is my favourite.

Quincy Mac’s screenplay about her first mystery has been made into a movie and nominated for some industry awards. At the after-party at her ex-husband’s house, she stumbles across another body and takes it upon herself to solve the mystery. This time, she finds assistance in unexpected places. Some significant changes in relationships take place, thus, adding to the chaos that is Quincy’s life. I thoroughly enjoyed this installment! However, although no “seecruds” about book one were given away, I would highly recommend reading that book (Steamed) before this one. I especially liked the author’s “Dear Reader” letter at the end of the book. It put a nice tidy bow on the series. I’ll be hoping against hope, though, that Ms. Jacobs is able to pick up this series at some later date. I’ll be honest: did the sweet dedication bias me just a teensy-weensy bit? You betcha! However, I’d say it did so no more than half of a star’s worth. This series is comprised of a cast of likeable characters, compelling plots, realistic reactions, and homage to one of my most favorite mystery series, Trixie Belden. It’s been nice to visit Quincy Mac’s world these past several months.

I have really enjoyed this series and getting to know the characters.

During a celebration party for Quincy winning a mortie for her first movie, a dead body is found upstairs in her son's room. Can Quincy find the killer so she can clear the names of her loved ones at the party?

Big things are happening in this book and I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. Leaves you with a warm cozy feeling. I love that the author loves Trixie Belden and dedicates the book to those of us at the Trixie Belden homepage. :-)

Big thanks to Lisa Morris for introducing me to the series.

This is the fourth book in a boxed set I received free from Amazon via BookBub. I enjoyed this series and am glad I read them in order, This story tied up many story lines and relationships leaving me satisfied and not particularly craving another Quincy Mac adventure. But if one came along I would be delighted to revisit her life.

Another fun mystery, and I didn't figure out the culprit until the culprit was revealed! I loved the parts after the ending talking about what everyone was doing today, just in case there aren't any more books in the series.
