I've loved romance since I was old enough to understand it. I began reading my gram's Harlequins as a teenager and became addicted to Happily Ever After's. I got my own HEA when I met my soulmate. It was instalove at first sight, and we've been together ever since.

My days are filled with reading, writing, and hanging out with my main guy. In addition, I have a not-so-secret addiction to organizing everything and watching crime shows. So, you could say my favorite things of all time are The Container Store and the ID Channel. Give me both of those, and I'm in heaven!

*ARC provided in exchange of an honest review*

This review and rating is based on 2 of the 5 novella's included in this anthology.

A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn

3.5*

A story hope, forgiveness and of letting go of the past this was a sweet short story that leaves you content and with a smile on your face.

Tyler was a complex man had a lot of regrets in his life, but one card sets him on the path of discovering just how empty and lonely he was.
Kristen was a happy, successful business owner and was not looking to add to growing hectic schedule..that is until one job puts her in the same room as Tyler.

Their attraction is instant.

But he's only in town temporarily and she is does not want to give up her business for someone she's just met...

I really enjoyed this short novella.
The only downside I have of this, is the fact that it's a short story. I would've loved to have gotten to know Tyler and Kristen a lot more and had a more in depth look into their backgrounds. But it was still a good read.

Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter.

3.5*

For a debut 'Merry Christmas Baby" was a good start. The story was sweet and solid and the characters were real and lovable.
Tommy was just the sweetest and loving guy anyone could ever want and I loved Heather's determination to give him a Christmas he would never forget and one that he deserved.

I'm happy that we will be getting a full novel of Heather's story. Novella's are just never long enough.

This review is for Melody Dawn's "A Christmas Connection"-
Tyler left Houston after an accident changed his life forever. Returning to Houston to rehabilitate his late uncle's house, he receives a letter that reconnects him with his past as well as his future. I enjoyed this sweet Christmas novella which includes well-developed characters from the author's "Living" series. Short but satisfying, this made me want to get to know these characters better; they've been added to the already cumbersome TBR.

This review is for Carissa Porter's "Merry Christmas Baby"-
Tommy grew up in foster care, and Hannah grew up in a large, loving family. Tommy loves experiencing the holidays as a part of a family for the first time, and the best gift of all cannot be wrapped and placed under the tree. I liked the main characters as well as the glimpse into Hannah's large and loud family. There was obviously a lot of back story there, but this is a novella, so it's more of a tease than anything. That being said, the novella ends with a message that Hannah will receive her own full-length novel in 2017. Count me in.

I'm writing my review based on all stories in Christmas Magic.

I am new to 4/5 authors in this anthology and already a fan of RJ's published works. And Christmas Magic explains it all, each story had the elements of what I love to read in novella's, short, sweet and Christmas magic. Stories from 5 different authors who have come together and delivered the Christmas spirit in different ways through their stories. I really enjoyed reading them and really did get me into the Christmas mood and would have been perfect if I could just have some snow falling while reading this.

It is a definite must read if you are looking for something to get you into the spirit of Christmas because it certainly did for me.

A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn

I found this short story to be truly heartfelt. Even though Tyler is riddled with guilt and pain of his loss and eventual distance from his best friend, he takes the steps to move forward. I should really say he was pushed into it. I really liked Tyler, Jayson, and Chloe. I liked how each pov switched when Tyler finally saw his best friend again so the reader knows how each character is feeling. This encoutner breathed life back into him in the form of Kristen the woman Chloe recommended Tyler hire to decorate his home. The attraction is instant and the sparks are flying. I seriously loved their first meeting, it was so cute. I liked getting a look into how close Kristen is with Chloe and Madison. They are a riot. really just loved it and wished it didn't end

Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter

I loved that Hannah wanted to give Tommy the most epic Christmas and she was going all out to make it memorable for him. Tommy had a very different upbringing than Hannah. But I also liked that Tommy was a police officer and it gives the reader perspective as to what life can be like for an officers wife. I liked this story the most and thought it was sweet and beautiful.

This is a review for A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn and Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter only.

A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn

We catch up with Reece's from The Living Series. This is a story of a broken man, Tyler who has returned to Texas to wrap up some unfinished business with his uncle's home. He hasn't felt anything but guilt for the last twelve years but the decorator that shows up on his doorstep might just be what he needs to start living again.

Added bonus: We are drawn back to this wonderful family and the laughs are endless with the Reece men, their wives and their children.

Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter

My first Carissa Porter story. It's perfect for the holidays. Newly wed couple from different upbringings. Hannah tells from her point of view of trying to make everything perfect for Christmas. Little Christmas surprise for this couple. Super sweet and sugary for the Christmas season. I look forward to reading more of Hannah's life later this year.

4.25 stars (based on two of the five stories within this book)
I received an ARC of this delightful Christmas anthology containing five short, holiday-themed stories and I could hardly wait to dive in; I felt I needed a bit of a push to get into the Christmas Spirit and this fit the bill perfectly.
To be honest, I went straight for the second story, Twice Upon a Time. B.A. Dillon is the author of one of my favorite books (Tethered Through Time) and I knew if I read this one, I would probably “spend time” with some characters I already know and care about. I was right. This story is told about a Christmas with the gang in a very special circumstance. All of the characters from her Tethered series were there and I loved seeing what happened when they all come together due to a bit of a holiday miracle. And with the standard B.A. Dillon situation, there are twists that are unexpected yet romantic in tone…
(excerpt)
“Some days don’t really begin the way you would like. Today was one of those days for me. But I’m always grateful for any day that simply begins – because that means I’m alive and can stare into these beautiful eyes.” Luke shares a quiet moment with Emma before continuing. “Life is a series of tiny little miracles. Some we never notice. But what happened here today was built on many tiny little miracles…Today is a day I’m unlikely to forget. I am blessed with everything I need and I believe everyone in this room would say the same. So in the spirit of Christmas, on this day of special gifts, may the love of this family fill your hearts with compassion and joy…And may our stories of Christmas magic, second chances, and so many tiny, little miracles remind us that life with each other is the only thing that matters. I love you with my whole heart. Merry Christmas!”
Ideally, reading at least part of that series before you read this Christmas story in this anthology (in order to get to know the characters fist) would be terrific but I don’t believe it is necessary to enjoy this short story. The series is a very slightly paranormal, just enough to give it a serious twist (which I loved, by the way). But it’s also romantic and funny and also has a crime story woven throughout the series too (most of the men in the series work in law enforcement). I highly recommend them!
But then, I turned to the first story in the book, A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn, thinking I would just flip through it to see what it was about and I must admit, I quickly got drawn into that story too. This story also appears to be a spin-off on a series by this author called The Living Series. However, again, I felt like I didn’t necessarily need to know the other characters to enjoy the story. This delightful portion of this book concentrates on two people who experience one of those magnetic, instant connections that cannot be denied – despite live in very different parts of the country. I enjoyed this story too…
(excerpt)
Wiping his hands, he walked to the door and opened it, unprepared for the vision that awaited him. Standing before him was a beautiful blond woman smiling up at him with her blue eyes dancing. “Tyler Peterson?” she asked in her sexy voice. “Yes, uh yes, that’s me.” Tyler stumbled trying to get his mind out of the gutter. “Hi, I’m Kristen Adams.” She reached out her hand for him to shake and he stood there staring at her. “Tyler?”…”Hi Kristen, please come in. Sorry, I lost track of time. It’s a little dusty in here; I’ve been sanding the floors. She smiled sweetly in response to his words and it almost knocked Tyler on his ass. This wasn’t going to work. He couldn’t hire someone he was sexually attracted to. At the same time, he knew hell would freeze over before he sent her away….
I haven’t read the other stories in this anthology as of yet, the holiday season has me very busy. However, as the month marches on, I can definitely see myself curling up with the rest of the stories in this book at the end of my crazy days and I think I’ll find I will enjoy each of them as much as I did the first two. So, if you’re looking for a delightful, easy read to draw you into the spirt of the holidays, this book is an ideal choice! This is very much a feel-good, warm and fuzzy anthology and is perfect when you just want a taste of something sweet and special for the holidays to read!

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

A Christmas Connection by Dawn Melody

Tyler heads back to Houston to renovate his late uncles house. When his old best friend falls into his path they bring much more than a great forgotten friendship with them. Is Tyler ready to explore the possibility of love?

A Christmas Connection is a sweet, beautiful, and hopeful romance. Dawn Melody has written a sweet story of love, forgiveness, and rediscovery.

Tyler is a complex, bright, and clever man with a past that haunts him.

Kristen is full of life and has an aura of happiness that surrounds her. Regardless of her loss she finds happiness in everything she does.

The connection that Tyler and Kristen share is instant and they truly deserve the happiness they bring to each other’s lives. They give hope and show us that around the corner there is someone waiting just for you; it's just a question of when fate will have you cross each others paths and to never lose faith.

This short story had me captivated from the first chapter and I loved all the characters equally. This story is sure to bring a smile to your face, warmth to your heart and have you feeling the true spirit of Christmas.

Twice Upon a Time by B.A. Dillon

B.A. Dillion has brought together the characters from her Time series and written a wonderful and hopeful Christmas story full of love, happiness, joy, and surprises.

I haven't read any of the Time series and I didn’t feel I needed to, to be able to fully enjoy and appreciate this sweet short Christmas story.

That is the true beauty of this Christmas spin off. It's great for those who have read the series to get a little something extra and it's a great story to intrigue us readers into exploring her Time series and even if you don't feel the need to explore it, you will still enjoy this novella and find their story bring warmth to your heart.

Their story shows us the little ways fate can play a part in bringing people together and how important it is to spend Christmas with the people you love and to rejoice and celebrate in each others news of happiness.

Taking Back Christmas by R.J Loom

This story brought tears to my eyes. Two beautiful souls, one broken and one repairing; together they made a whole.

This story is full of hope and love. Both Christian and Eve had endured a few rough years. Whilst Eve was taking advantage of the new life she had been given, Christian was being sucked in by his grief.

Together they discovered that life was to be lived for in the moment and to not worry about the past, the future, or the what if’s.

This sweet Christmas novella touched my heart and will forever stay with me. Christian and Eve's start to a new life was Christmas Magic at its finest.

A Christmas Chance by Janet A. Mora

This story made me beam! This story from start to finish is beautiful, magical and heart warming.

A story of two people who were always meant to be and are so perfect together.

It's a mushy kind of story and for me it was a quick festive read full of love; it was perfection!

Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter

I love that Carissa Porter decided to debut her writing by releasing a novella as part of anthology; she not only delivered a well thought out story, she also gave us a glimpse of what she is capable of and personally I feel she is an author to watch!

This sweet story is full of love and happiness with a hint of sadness. And in a clever, developed way, has the reader at one point feeling shock and concern.

It's well written and cleverly plotted. I'm happy to read that Hannah has more of a story to tell and I look forward to reading it in 2017.

Overall Thoughts…

Overall this anthology is full of Christmas, festive cheer and is the perfect collection of stories to pick up and read when you have a spare half an hour, or to read a story before going to sleep. It's a great companion for taking on holiday too.

It's full of romance and happiness at a time of year we need it most. I know for sure that these are authors I will be reading in the future.

In "Christmas Connection" Melody Dawn writes a nice story about a 30-year old man who visits his hometown full of bad old memories, overcoming them and finding new love.
I Loved the connection that Tyler had with Kristen. Their instant attraction and let's go for it attitude was infectious and loving. Though naturally a bit romance-novel-over-the-top. But still so cute.
I was kinda missing more of an explanation as to why he left and how his ex best friend overcame their devide (they hadn't seen each other for 10 years, with no words spoken) immediately upon seeing him again. The story was sweet, and yes, it is a short story, but still, some fleshing out in the important connections could have made it even better for me.

In "Merry Christmas Baby" Carissa Porter writes of a newly wed couple, an orphan and the woman from the huge, loving family. While the focus is on the couple for sure, their family plays a big role in it. We don't really get to see much of Tommy, the husband, only Hannah's view of things and she seems to be very focused on making everything perfect. The perfect holiday, the perfect marriage. She is very sweet and their love shines through their little interactions.
A pet peeve of mine is always the woman who doesn't believe she is pregnant, pies on a stick on urging from a friend and in the next second is almost already picking out baby clothes, she is so overwhelmingly happy. Though she did concede to say nothing was sure until she had seen a doctor, so she did relativate it in the end.
The story has a bit of a Hallmark feel to it, overly sweet and sometimes a little over-the-top, but puts you in a good mood.

Christmas Magic is an Anthology by 5 indie authors with short, sweet, heartwarming stories of Reminding us of the Magic of Christmas.

I decided to do this review focusing on 'A Christmas Connection' by Melody Dawn and 'Merry Christmas Baby' by Carissa Porter.

A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn was a very sweet story of a broken man who returns to his hometown and along the way reconnects with an old buddy that he lost touch with over the years. The beginning of this story was really amazing. The story of the 2 best mates who find each other again was very touching and through this journey, our main character finds everything he didn't realise he was missing.
I liked the multi narrators and for a short story, it works really well.
In such a short space of time, this story had me experiencing many emotions, from tears to flat out laughter.

My favourite quotes:
"Sometimes being a gentleman sucked!"

"At the next stop sign, she did a victory dance as much as she could while being restrained by a seat belt. Little did she know that when she was no longer in view, Tyler had a celebration of his own."

Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa porter is told from one perspective, Hannah's.
We are introduced to newlyweds and experience their first holiday together as a married couple.
Such a cute and heartwarming story. Although short, you can totally see where the story is going and could develop into a larger story fairly easily. The thing I liked best about his story, was actual.y the support cast. How varied and 'loud' they were, made for an amazing and balanced story.

3 stars - A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn
It's always difficult to review a novella. I've read some that are on the longer side and have more depth to the story and character development. Then there are some that give you basically the bare-bones of a story line and a superficial look into the characters lives. This one fell under the latter category. While I liked the journey to HEA, I wanted a little more from this novella. Granted there's a certain amount of expectation when reading a novella that there's going to be insta-love, but I was hoping for more. It almost felt like a couple of friends relaying their holiday whirlwind romance.

4 stars - Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter
I really liked this novella. It's an extension to an existing couple. They're already in a relationship, so this is just an additional emotional time for them and a turning point in their relationship. Tommy and Hannah have a deep love and commitment to each other. They also seem to have a complicated history, one I would love to learn more about. Fortunately, this new author said in her afterward that she's planning to write a story about Hannah this year. Not sure if she plans to go back to introduce us to this couple or pick up where they left off. Either would be great! I look forward to reading more.

A sweet holiday read...

I love the Christmas season AND a good romance so when the two are mixed together you know I’m all in! I’ve read two stories in the anthology so far – A Christmas Connection by Melody Dawn and Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter – so my rating is a blended one for both.

It is challenging to write a review on stories where the authors have revealed little in the blurb around plot and characters. Saying that, though, I can certainly talk about how the stories made me feel. And they certainly did that… The stories were sweet and gentle, with characters brought together in very different ways with love and Christmas being the ties that bring them all together.

There are obstacles, this is real life after all, but these are short stories and there simply is not enough time for long drawn scenarios though there was plenty of room for some good old-fashioned angst. While I may not be a short story super fan, I can appreciate a good read no matter how many pages there may be…

If you are looking for a sweet read in front of a twinkly Christmas tree than this is just the thing!

I sat down on a snowy day intending to read for just a little while and instead read the whole book. My review is about two of the stories.

First, "A Christmas Connection" was a feel good romance with a HEA. The main characters were well developed and their internal struggles felt real and not contrived. The fun part of this story is that it's almost a two-for-one in that hero is also finding his way back to his best friend from childhood as well. I found some of the wording a little stiff... it was established numerous times that the college he attended was in New Haven Connecticut. Overall a sweet story.

"Merry Christmas, Baby" was also a quick, easy read. It was also a very sweet story about a woman trying to make her first Christmas with her husband special. While this is a standalone story, I did feel a little like I was missing some backstory. I would have liked a little more romance instead of having to connect the dots after her husband chases her down the hall. And without giving too much away, the very happy ending left me smiling.

I highly recommend this Christmas anthology to everyone who loves Christmas stories. You have stories by five different authors, so you can can read one a day or read the whole book in one day. I have only read two of the stories so far, but I will definitely be reading the others.

A Christmas Connection is by Author Melody Dawn, the author of The Living Series. We meet Tyler here since he's Jayson Reece's best friend. After the accident where his girlfriend Amy is killed, Tyler disappears. Twelve years later he's back and reconnects to the Reece's. Chloe introduces him to Kristen and the chemistry is HOT, HOT, HOT! I won't leave any spoilers, so one-click and read their story!

Merry Christmas Baby is by debut author Carissa Porter and she gives us the story of Tommy and Hannah. He spent a lot of time in foster care and isn't used to family gatherings, especially at the holidays. Hannah wants to make this Christmas one he'll never forget. Read this story and see if she succeeds.

LOVED all of the stories in this anthology. They are sweet and sexy and each one, in it's own way, shows you the magic of Christmas.
Melody Dawn's A Christmas Connection reminds us that when it's right, it's right. Time and distance are no match for true love sparked by the magic of Christmas.
BA Dillon's story follows a family who have come together to celebrate the holidays with new beginnings and through the magic of the holidays find that they have a deeper history than they ever knew.
RJ Loom's contribution shows how the magic of the season can bring two people together and help them heal old wounds.
In Janet A. Mota's A Christmas Chance, the Christmas magic brings together two people who were meant to be for a long time.
Finally, Carissa Porter shows us that the best gift you can give someone is a little Christmas Magic!

These stories warmed my heart and really helped me get into the holiday spirit!

I loved all the wee stories, in this holiday anthology. I thought they were each written very well, and contributed to the overall feeling of love, magic and happiness, over the holiday. They each seemed to find a way to remind us that there is nothing wrong with believing in a little love and magic, now and again.

I liked that each of the stories remained very different, which made me feel excited to start each one. I did find it hard to let go of the characters I got to know in each of the stories, which is a testament to how well the authors created both character and story, as well as the fantastic world building.

I really feel that a lot of people will enjoy these reads, especially round the holidays and as a story to cozy up with at night. I highly recommend grabbing a copy and potentially one for your mates. You'll love every page.

I did this review on two of the short stories that are in this book. The first one "A Christmas Connection" by Melody Dawn. I am a new reader of Melody but this story story has me wanting more from her. This short story was well developed with well developed characters. Tyler left Houston after an accident that changed his life. Upon returning to Houston he receives a letter that connects him with his past and his future. This short story was one that made me want so much more from the characters. Melody is an amazing writer and this short story is prove.

The other one I read and reviewed is "Merry Christmas Baby" by Carissa Porter. Again this is a new author to me but I loved this one just as much. Writing was good in this one as well. There is good character chemistry with Tommy and Hannah. This is a sweet heartwarming story. This was a little short for me I could see so much more from this storyline.

Review for A Christmas Connection and Merry Christmas Baby. Both authors are good writers, both stories were good but unfortunately neither just grabbed me and left me wanting more. Some of it may be that I don't celebrate the holidays, but I read other Christmas themed books and was more drawn in. Again, the writing is good but one of my biggest pet peeves in romance is skipping over the time the couple gets to know each other in. A Christmas Connectikn spent way to much time establishing Tyler's connection back in Houston and the insta-connection he and Kristen felt. We get one paragraph summing up their three weeks together. Give me the development of their love story, let me see why they are drawn to one another. For me those three weeks are the real story.

What a great short story that will make your heart happy. Tyler has been away for 12 years when he returns to renovate his Uncles now his house.
Reconnecting with old friends, finding love when you aren't looking and a Merry Christmas HEA. I loved it.

Merry Christmas Baby by Carissa Porter

Hannah wanted to give her husband the best first Christmas ever. He grew up in foster homes and never had a real Christmas.

A beautiful heart warming compilation.
Just what every reader of romance needs, stories to fill your heart with joy.
Carrisa Porter did an exceptional job with her debut story. Merry Christmas baby, is about newlyweds spending their first holidays together, its sweet, sexy and poignant. Can two people from such totally different backgrounds manage to give each other the Xmas they both want? Relatable, well written characters that will steal your heart.

Melody Dawn's "A Christmas Connection" was a sweet little story bringing us a glimpse of one of my new favorite families: the Reece's. This is Tyler's story and although it was heartbreaking backstory I love the connection he made with Kristen, I love how their lives/careers just went together.

Carissa Porter's "Merry Christmas Baby" was a sweet little tease introducing us to Tommy and Hannah. I am looking forward to Hannah's story and want to read more about her family, especially because it reminds me of my own large family and the crazy times during holidays!

I've read only two in this anthology which are A Christmas Connection and Merry Christmas Baby. I enjoyed the first more than the second. But then again the relationship in the first one seemed to go awfully fast. In the real world that doesn't normally happen. That was the only reason for the four stars. The rest of it made me smile. I especially loved the ending of the second one. Overall they were both sweet stories.
