The Accidental Stranger

Rate this book
Modern, smart and sassy, Jessica Brewster has been transformed after a summer of time-travel back to 1886. Life in her great great grandmother's shoes has taught her the value of living simple and loving deeply. With her son, conceived then, born in her own time, she is a single mother living in a new home on the remote Wyoming site of her ancestor's 1886 cabin.
When things go missing, she concludes she is being watched, and shoots the stalker, mistaking him for a bear. No mistake when she sees his green eyes, however. Can it be Mitch--her son's 1886 father--the only man she ever loved?
Saving his life is easier than proving his identity. His memory loss curries doubt and mystery. Is he truly the man she remembers...or a stranger in her arms?

Jessica has now given birth to Mitch's son, Scout, and is living on the sale plot of land they lived in back when. She somehow still feels their story is not completely done and still lives for the memories of Mitch and their time together. Funny thing... things keep disappearing on her. Tools, food, etc. She can only wonder if there is someone around that is stealing these things? In order to be prepared, she makes sure to carry her shotgun with her and to her dismay, she actually shoots someone!

This book continues the story with interspersed chapters about a young man by the name of Robert Dawson O'Brien. He lives in Ireland in the 1880's under the auspices of The O'Brien at his Manor. The struggle in Ireland at that time is perfectly documented as we follow Robbie ~ his loves and friends. It is a story rich with history and the dreams of immigrants who left everything behind in order to secure a better future and freedom for their families.

How Robbie and Jessica eventually coincide in the same century is a story you will not soon forget. This is a love story, history, and an emotional diary of what Fate might bring to a few. The little teacup is still the link to uniting souls that deserve to be together.

Definitely a book you cannot miss reading!

For me, this book was even more exciting than the first in this brilliant series! Jess is back in modern times with a beautiful toddler baby boy named Scout. Turned out even though the real Jessamine *did* swap places (like she'd imagined), It was Jessamine who had been in a coma the entire time. What truly makes her scratch her head is the fact when she "came out of the coma" our Jess was the one in the hospital bed and magically pregnant by Mitch. Try explaining that to brother/cousin Jake as she'd supposedly been in a coma this entire time. She makes the decision to not really tell him all the truth, so she fibs and dodges her way around the more confusing issues. Now she and Scout live where she had back in time with Mitch and Tallie....so thankful everyday for the proof of their love: Scout. Little did she know events once again would unfold to bend time and space, and her heart. Get ready for another adventure with a green eyed man that claims the heart of this strong, intelligent, huge hearted, adventurous woman. Prepare yourself for the amazing adventure to come 😉. I am waiting with baited breathe for book three in this heart pumping series!!! I just can't get enough. Disclaimer: if you've NOT yet read ACCIDENTAL WIFE yet, put DOWN this book and go back to book one. You could read this book first I suppose, but the nuances and relationships makes FAR MORE sense by reading book one first! Enjoy!!!!

I enjoyed this book for several reasons: I like time travels and romances. Most of all I love the West Counties of Ireland. Many of the locations author Fosdick put in the story was like going home for me. She did a lovely job describing the locations and the history of Ireland in the late 1880's.
Jessica Brewster is a woman who knows herself, her goals, her motivations. Then she meets, quite by accident, Mitchell and falls in love.
The family lineage is complicated but the bottom line is the two loved each other deeply and for her own reasons, Jessica left Mitch in his own time to return to the present--and bear his child.
Flash forward almost three years: Jess and her little boy Scout are living the life they want. Until a stranger enters their lives and Jess believes he is Mitch who has traveled forward in time. Falling in love all over again is an adventure filled with laughter, real life and the joys of parenting a toddler.
I heartily recommend this story for readers who enjoy Ireland's history, the west counties of same, and contemporary romances.

I enjoyed reading this second book in the series. The author writes vividly, with polish, and her settings and voice jump off the page. I was cheering for a different ending but I did enjoy the story line (I won't give away spoilers; the transition in part two did catch me off guard but soon you were whisked away to Robbie's story in 19th century Ireland) and the ending was fulfilling. I do wonder where the author will go with the third book. Her research is evident. The reader is impeccably transported to two different times/places (present-day Wyoming and 19th century Ireland). I loved all her details...everything that sets the scene and makes you feel like you are there. This was an enjoyable read and I would recommend any of these author's books!

Uncaged Review: Set where the accidental wife left off we’re back with Jessica and her son. This time it’s a mysterious green-eyed stranger who turns up in the 21st century. Jessica thinks it’s Mitch. The mystery and twists of storytelling are a plenty in this book. The author really likes to keep us guessing until the very end. It was an enjoyable read. Makes me wish I had a magical teacup that could make me time travel. Book three coming soon. Reviewed by Jennifer

Suspense and romance to solve a mystery of potential time traveler and her heart's love. This is the first book I've read by this author and found out that it is actually the second in the series. Will be looking for the first book to read. Interesting characters and story line.

Ebook from net galley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Mystery, romance, twists and turns with vivid
description take the reader into the story from
beginning to end.
Although this was book # 2 in the Accidental Series,
the author’s writing flowed the past with the present
together effortlessly. It can be read as a stand alone.
I volunteered to read The Accidental Stranger. My
opinion is my own.

Again, an amazingly told story!
This is the second book of Ms. Fosdick's I've read, and again, I found myself immersed in the lives of people I soon thought of as friends. The time travel elements are done so well, you barely notice as you're pulled along with the plot. Ms. Fosdick also interweaves details in a seamless panorama that leaves you almost breathless.

What I liked:
The writing style
Parts 1 and 3

What I didn't like:
Part 2

I didn't know this was Book 2 of a series.  Even though I didn't read Book 1, The Accidental  Wife, I don't feel like I missed much.
I voluntarily received an ARC from NetGalley.

The Accidental Stranger (The Accidental Series, #2) by C.J. Fosdick my review

Review Courtesy of April Hollingworth

This is the second book in the Accidental series but by no means do you need to read the first book first. I didn’t, but going by this story, I will. This book is based a couple of years after the first book, and as the story unravels you are led deeper into the stories of a different past and present day.
Beautifully written. Snow crunching under foot, you hear and feel. The warmth of a fire blazing, heats you up, and most importantly of all, the characters you read about, become flesh and blood, and you can’t help caring for them. Rejoicing with them and having your heart shatter, right along with theirs.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, especially after the blurb as a preview I just read. Though, I also know, it will likely break my heart all over again. C.J. Fosdick has just elevated herself into a must read author.

Opening Scene:

He melted into the shadows, drawn to the sound of another human voice.

The Review:

Nothing is the same for Jessica Brewster after her summer of time-travel back to 1886. Living life in her great great grandmother’s shoes has taught her the value of simple living and loving deeply. Living in a new home on the remote Wyoming site of her ancestor’s 1886 cabin with her son, conceived then, born in her own time, she is a single mother, making her way by selling the soaps and lotions she learned to craft in the past.
When things go missing, she begins to wonder if she’s not alone. When she spots a bear she shoots it, only to realize the bear is a man, with green eyes she can’t help but remember. Could she have just shot Mitch—her son’s father, and the only man she ever loved?
Saving his life is easier than unravelling the past and revealing his identity. His memory loss brings doubt and mystery. Is the stranger living in her home the man she loves, the father of her child, or is he a stranger living amongst them?
Notable Scene:

“Liv.”
I heard the word loud and clear this time, and when I turned back, I could see one green eye flutter open to stare at me. The green, so unforgettable to me, looked dull and confused.
“Liv,” he repeated hoarsely.
The tightness in my chest deflated like a balloon. “That’s right,” I smiled, “you’re going to live. You’ve come back.”
“Back?” His gaze roved, circling my face, then the room, and the monitor began to beep more frequently.
I knew he had never been in a hospital like this, with beds that cranked and monitors that beeped. Even at the turn of the last century, hospitals would have been rare on the frontier. Strange surroundings to a man whose life just skipped over a hundred years.
“You’re in a hospital,” I said, squeezing his hand. “Welcome to my era, Mitch.”

*This book was received via the author in exchange for an honest review*

This is the story of Jessica Brewster, mother of her son Scout, whose father was Mitch, only thing is he is back in 1886 and Jessica has returned to her present day. Living alone in a cabin with her son, she has visits from Her brother Jake and his girlfriend. But something isn't right, things keep going missing, the pie she made for dinner, which is her brothers favourite and various other things, but she can't think what has happened to them.

She decides to get a chicken coop built in the garage and the contractor that comes is a friendly old man with his two sons and a dog, Scout latches on to the dog and they go off and play but when they get to near to the water, something or some one goes near them. Jess is scared and shoots the man thinking he is a bear as he is wearing a bearskin round him. But what she see's is a very familiar man with bright green eyes. Could Mitch have finally found a way through to her time to be with her.

I really enjoyed this story line, it had the feel of one of those old western movies when the woman saves the man and brings him into her home to care for him, a real romance, but they can also have their ups and downs.

This was a great read by C J Fosdick and look forward to the next installment.

Fosdick has the ability to create characters that by the end of her books feel like dear friends. This is an experience that I have rarely had the privilege of feeling, because it takes great skill for an author to generate such relatable and adored individuals. The journey these wonderful characters take is one that the reader cannot predict--and the turns of events keeps the reader engaged as they quickly turn the pages. I became invested in each of their trials and triumphs. I would highly recommend this novel if you are looking for an entertaining and unique story that will keep you guessing as it places you in the midst of different scenarios in perfectly detailed surroundings. Get ready to meet the accidental stranger! I think you'll like him.
