The Yoga Mentor: Everything I Wish I Knew When I Started Teaching Yoga

Rate this book
In addition to having my own successful yoga career I also offer mentoring to yoga teachers who are just starting out. For newly qualified teachers the transition to the world of teaching can be tricky. So it became a desire of mine to see more teachers gain classes, build a solid client base and organise successful workshops and retreats. I have seen many teachers thrive on the advice I gave them, and it inspired me to share my knowledge in this book so more people can experience this progress.

In the space of a few short years, I have seen my career as a yoga teacher take off: I run fully booked classes in top yoga studios, have become a brand ambassador for international companies, been flown to exotic locations to teach workshops and privates, and I earn a passive income through online video downloads.

I am not telling you this to impress you. I want you to know that if I can do it, so can you! I do not think of myself as a finished product, but what has worked for me, I want YOU to know too. In this book I share everything I did to get to where I am. I can’t wait to see you happy and fulfilled in your yoga teaching career!

The business of yoga

Wasn’t exactly what I was looking for as I am halfway through teacher training, but there were some helpful topics covered and I can see it being an eye opening resource for someone who has never created a business before. I definitely found the writing to be geared more toward how to run a yoga business than tips for new teachers. Maybe I’m just overthinking getting started teaching, but I was hoping for more fine-tuned advice for the experience of being a brand-new and nervous teacher. Really the only thing directed at that yogi was “just fo do it, you’ll mess up but just keep trying”. That’s not exactly helpful to me personally.

I wish we had this in my YTT

Other than finding a lot of typos, this book was a pleasure to read. It got me excited about teaching yoga. My brain opened up to more creative ways to find work. I love all of the brutal honesty from Pereira and the other instructors interviewed. They lay it out: making an income and finding work in this business is HARD!

Pereira writes the way she speaks, conversational and casual. She clearly loves her journey.

It was great

It's just reassuring that you are not crazy for thinking all these things as a new teacher! All normal. Great

I think this book could be helpful for many teachers just starting out. Unfortunately, I did not find it detailed enough to be super valuable. It's a great start, but I wanted more....

Some useful tips and a nice conversational tone. Sadly crippled with spelling and grammar mistakes which makes it look really sloppy. Did anyone proof read this??
