Return to Falcon Ridge

Rate this book
Torn between his first love…and a forbidden attraction he can no longer deny.

Jonah McLendon is no stranger to polyandrous love. With his mom married to his three dads, and his brothers sharing a wife, he didn’t think twice when his high school sweetheart, Chloe, revealed her secret desire for a ménage with his best friend. There was only one problem. He didn’t expect to fall for Pryce, too.

Beaten within an inch of his life after Chloe exposes their secret, and Pryce having been shipped off to a religious boarding school a half state away, Jonah tells the biggest lie of his life and leaves Falcon Ridge with his heart in pieces. When he returns a year and a half later, the last thing he expects to find is his best friend engaged to the girl who betrayed them both.

No longer the scared, confused kid he once was, Jonah is determined to get to the bottom of Pryce’s sham of an engagement, but the truth behind Chloe’s betrayal threatens more than his love for Pryce. If he can’t let go of the past and coax Pryce out of the closet, he could lose them both forever.

The McLendon Family Saga d.l. roan:

Return to Falcon Ridge is book six in The McLendon Family Saga series by D.L. Roan. My heart is so full right now having read both The Hardest Goodbyes and Return in a row. I love this family so much. This book pretty much starts right up where book five left off. Jonah is home. He’s been gone eighteen months and we finally get the truth about what happened that awful night at the end of book four, where he went and what he’s been doing. One thing for sure is that he isn’t doing what he told his family he was doing. So it’s time to come clean and tell the truth.

Of course, his family scoops him back into their loving and crazy arms and he knows he is back where he needs to be. Especially with the news they are dealing with regarding Cade. One thing he hadn’t planned on was finding out that his best friend, Pryce, has fallen in love and gotten engaged to Chloe, the girl he once loved but who exposed he and Pryce’s secret and was the cause of what happened to him.

Of course, nothing was as it seemed and Chloe, Pryce and Jonah are forced to talk and finally hash things out. Jonah and Pryce have been best friends for years but there was always something more there, something he only felt with Pryce, something they had just begun to explore along with Chloe just before everything went bad. All he had to do was see Pryce and Chloe again and all the feelings came right back. He still loved them both and when they were together, everything just felt right.

“I can promise you one thing. I’m done running. I’ll do everything in my power to make this work this time.”
“No matter what happens, you own a piece of me, Jonah McLendon. A big piece that I hope you’ll never again try to give back.”

Pryce, though, still has so much to deal with. His father is very ill and his religious fanatic mother is constantly filling his head with how evil he is for wanting the things he wants. Pryce can’t turn away, though, from the two people that he has loved for so long, Jonah and Chloe. But his ranch is falling apart. How is he supposed to do what he SHOULD do and try to withstand the constant badgering from his mother and do what he wants to do and let himself love the way he wants to love.

two men cuddling:

So much happens in this book. We get more of Daniel and Cade which warmed my heart. We get plenty of Jonah’s mother Gabby and her three husbands, Jonah’s Dads. I should say that after book five, it kind of gave me the urge to go back and reread the first book, Gabby’s story. That’s where my obsession with this family started. I just may do that eventually. We also get updates on Conner, Carson and Breezy. There is plenty of hotness in this book, extreme hotness, with Jonah, Chloe and Pryce, both in different pairs and all together.

Goodreads | Recent Updates

Jonah, Pryce and Chloe don’t have an easy road of it but they love each other so much. Jonah has come back from his travels a different man, a stronger man, both physically and emotionally. He knows what he wants and he is willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. No matter what these three have to deal with, of one thing they are sure, when they are together, they are all “home.”

home:

Dani, Jonah’s twin sister, gets her story next later this year in Forever Falcon Ridge. I can’t wait to see what D.L. Roan has planned for us next. I do know that I will be first in line waiting to again visit with this family I have grown to love so much.

WOW!!! Just really WOW!!!!!!!

DL Roan's fans having been clamoring for this book, with good reason! This is Jonah's story and promised to be really intense. And I can assure those fans that it has lived up to all the hype! Not only does the story pick up where we left off with Jonah in The Hardest Goodbyes but we also get to find out what's going on with the rest of the family. And believe me, there is plenty to catch up on. This book, OMG, I really wish I could give more than 5 stars. The heat level in this book well exceeds that in previous books but it is in no way gratuitous. The relationships are not only intense, they are very complex. And not just those between the main characters, but also those between the MCs and their families. And this author manages those relationships masterfully! Even with all the different characters there isn't a feeling of the story being rushed. It flows smoothly and draws the reader in and at times has you either on the edge of your seat or laughing out loud. Oh, and throw in some tears!

All in all, a wonderful addition to the series. And now I anxiously await Dani's story!!!!

Return To Falcon Ridge: McLendon Family Sage #6 is by author D.L. Roan.
Published: January 17, 2017
Read: January 29, 2017
My Rating: %
Cover: 4

D.L. Roan has a talent for writing erotica that is sweet and romantic. Not only are you enthralled by her intimate scenes but she is an established storyteller. D.L.'s aptness for putting pen to paper is a gift to us.

As with most of the McLendon novels, there is suspense, mystery and drama. Jonah, Pryce and Chloe's book is no less intense. In fact, I found it the most heartbreaking. This book brought forth so many emotions from me. If you've read Rockstar Cowboys you know that something horrible happened to Jonah. There are only hints about what was going on, and I did have my suspicions, but there was much more to it.

Jonah, Pryce and Chloe were a team. Best friends for sure. She was also Jonah's girlfriend. Then she was more. Sorry I won't give anything away. ;)

Jonah returns to Falcon Ridge, his family home with a heavy heart, secrets and fears. But it was time to stop hiding. He fears what his family will say when they learn the truth about where he has been and why he left. Jonah has a lot of explaining and apologizing to do. And too his surprise, his family doesn't judge him. However they are upset about his lies and the unnecessary worry he caused them. Myself included. I was chewing my nails waiting for this book and to find out if Jonah would be ok. Thankfully in Return To Falcon Ridge all our questions are answered.

Chloe is the girl Jonah loved; but not the only one he loved. She betrayed him in the worst way. Or so he thought. Coming home after eighteen months only to find out that Chloe was engaged to his best friend was worse than a punch in the face. Didn't Pryce know she betrayed him as well?
As with most tragic stories, things aren't always what they seem. But then truths are revealed and just maybe these three can find a happy ending. Unfortunately, the demons of this story are manipulation, prejudice and fear. Those are strong emotions to rise above.

Let's not forget that love is the strongest.

Jonah, Pryce and Chloe are afraid. They are afraid of their unconventional feelings for each other. But most of all they are afraid to lose each other.

I will say I loved all three characters but Jonah stood out as the strongest emotionally. It helped that he had the support of a large, loving family. Jonah knew what he wanted and would listen to his father's advice to 'do whatever it took' to make it happen. Jonah was the 'rock.' He was the true hero and I loved him for having such strong morals at his young age of almost 21.

I can go on and on and write pages summarizing this book but I won't do that. You need to experience the McLendons for yourselves. D.L. Roan's masterful writing created these characters with intensity and care and it shows on every page and in every written word.

For all the weight of worry they carried, Jonah, Pryce and Chloe were too young to have those troubles. Too young to deal with the complexity of their lives. This book was written in a way that was real, believable and nothing was held back. The bad times only made for a more satisfying ending.

I truly love this author's writing and I will be pining, waiting for the release of Dani's story next. D.L., please don't make us wait too long!

Well its nice to finally know what happened to Jonah. The curiosity was driving me insane! Its so easy to forget that Jonah, Pryce and Chloe are super young, which is why I was so pissed everytime Pryce gave in to his crazy ass mother, but then I would remember that he's like 18 or 19 and still has that strong childhood instinct to be loyal to his parents even though they were shit parents.

Between his father beating his ass whenever the boy just breathed and his mother using religion and money to control him, I'm surprised Pryce ended up as happy as he did, but then again he had Jonah, Chloe and their family to love, accept and understand him.

Overall, a good read, a bit frustrating but engaging nonetheless.

Serideki son iki kitap cidden çok güzeldi...
Jonah ve Pry'ın çekinceleri, Chloe'nin onları kaybetme korkusu...
Daniel ve Cade'in düğünü...
Dani'nin kalbindeki kıpırtılar ve babası Grey'in bunu inatla görmemesi :D

I have been waiting for Jonah's story from the minute he left Falcon Ridge.

And it was worth every minute of the wait for Return to Falcon Ridge.

It was sweet, sexy, smoking hot and full of raw emotion. I adore the McLendon family and all their quirks, their lives and their loves. They are an amazing family, and it makes me want to move to their farm!

Can't wait to see what Ms Roan brings us next.

Readers of the series were kind of left hanging about what was up with Jonah in previous books. He up and disappears from his close knit family. This is his story. All the details come out finally. Chloe and Pryce have many hurdles to cross before their hearts can be whole again. Jonah is the missing piece.

The story brings some suspense. It also pulls at those heart strings when the rest of the world just doesn't want to accept what they mean to each other. Really great to catch up with the rest of the family. Two siblings left who need their HEA. Should be interesting to see who they end up with!

Love the whole series so far!

Loved it

I love the McLendon family. Loved Jonah, Pryce and Chloe's story. A rough and emotional story. Jonah,, caught in his own personal hell takes off for 18 mts . When Uncle Cade tracks him down he has no choice but to come home and face the past, and make amends to his family for the hell he put them through.
Facing the past means facing the two people he loved most. The women who betrayed him and his best friend, who are now engaged. Circumstances beyond Chloe's knowledge and control lead to Jonah's betrayal and her leaving town. Pryce's family sent him to a boarding school were he was cut off from everyone.
Now that the truth has been revealed, love is still there. The three are left with fighting to make a life together or going their separate ways.
Chloe fits right in with the McLendon women. She wants both Jonah and Pryce and fought hard to get them and keep them.I loved Jonah, he took his father, Grey's advice, whatever it takes, to heart and fought hard for Pryce, with the help of Chloe. Pryce I really felt for. He had lost so much, and had so much to overcome. I was so happy when they got their happily ever after.
Can't wait for Dani and Cory's stories!

Getting hotter

This gives us Jonah's story and his love for Chloe and Pryce. How he struggles to tell his family and the way they embrace him. The struggles Pryce has with his mom and her belief. This goes beyond them and encompasses the whole family

5 massive stars!!
*ARC received in return for an honest review

I can't get enough of this family, I'm totally addicted to them!

Return to Falcon Ridge can be read as a standalone however, I strongly suggest you start at the beginning of the series to understand the background and dynamics of all of the characters and to avoid spoilers.

I've followed the McLendon family from the very start of their journey so I kind of guessed going in that this would be a very emotional read but I was totally unprepared for just how emotional it was. What a ride I've been on! The plot moves along at a great pace and so engrossing that you don't realise how far you've read. It had me gripped from the very beginning. My heart felt like it was in a constant vice with the turmoil Jonh, Pryce and Chloe went through, especially the last 20%, which had my heart pounding so fast with the tension, I couldn't read fast enough.

Although The Hardest Goodbyes (book 5) is my favourite of the series so far, this has to be a very close second. D.L. Roan is an absolute genius at wringing every drop of emotion and feeling from you. You feel like you've been through the wringer several times by the end of one of her books but most importantly, you come away feeling like the characters are a part of your life, your friends.

I loved the connection between Jonah, Pryce & Chloe, it was heartbreaking, raw, beautiful and oh so HOT!! They were just perfect for each other. I love the way D.L. takes a taboo subject, pushes it to the limits, and beyond, and turns it into something so natural and beautiful that you find yourself falling in love with those characters and cheering them on.

I can't recommend this book, this series, enough. If you've not discovered the McLendon Saga do yourself a favour and go 1-click now, you don't know what you're missing.

OMG!!! This book was flipping awesome!! I was glad to find out that nothing horrible happened to Pryce while he was in "Hell" but it sucks that Jonah felt the need to lie to everyone about not joining the military. I would've slapped my son too for not calling or having any kind of communication for over a year when I think that he's overseas possibly hurt and then find out that he's only been hiding out in Alaska of all places. I'm just glad that Jonah, Pryce and Chloe got to finally be together after all the misunderstandings before everyone separated for over a year. Really glad that Jonah came back when he did, I don't want to think what would've happened if he would've missed the opportunity to be with the ones that he loved. I so can't wait for the next book in this series. I'm interested in finding out if the one about Dani is going to be a poly one with her, Clay and Ash...would love it to be.

Heartwarming !!

Here we finally see that Jonah comes home to be with his family and settle some things that had him going crazy. I don't want to say much about this story because I am afraid to spoil it for the future readers, but just know that the lesson bhai to be learned here in Jonah and Chloe with Pryce is that love comes in many different forms and we should be happy and accept that the people we love in our lives are blessed with finding love..
This was a different story but great nonetheless. I love the way the McLendon's love and accept one another without judgement and protect each other. Oh and did I say I cried in the wedding??? No, then please read the series so you can cry too.

Can I say once again how much I love this family and how much I love D.L. Roan's writing? D.L.'s writing style brings these characters to life with heart felt emotions and with humor.
Breaking away from expectations and allowing yourself to be who you truly are and accepting that person is never an easy journey, add in preconceived prejudices and this journey can be stalled before given a chance to to take place.
D.L. Roan takes these three people young people through this journey with the love and encouragement of this strong family she has created. Their strength and love give them courage to ride the storm and come put strong on the other side.
I can't wait for more of this families story!

This book deserves so many more stars than we can give! Don't know how she does it, but DL Roan continues to deliver top quality books time after time.

Fans have waited for what seems like forever to get Jonah's story...and what a heartbreakingly beautiful story it is. Your heart aches for Jonah, Pryce, and Chloe as you learn about all the struggles and pain they each faced--loving each other but kept apart by hate, lies, and cruelty. It's a wonder they could even find happiness at all.

The McLendon family has become our family through these books. There is a definite truth in believing "A True Story Never Ends." I can't wait for the next book!

I love all the McClendon family, but Jonah has my heart. This story is one of heartache, tragedy and love. I could not put it down once I started reading it. I have cried, laughed and cursed while reading this book. Jonah, Pryce and Chloe all went through so much in the beginning together and apart. Jonah and Pryce got the worst of it in my opinion, but it hurt Chloe too. I felt so sorry for Pryce through the whole story, because he just needed love in his life period. I am so glad they found their way back to each other. The ending was so perfect, it couldn't have been any better. Can't wait until the next book comes out. I can not get enough of this family.

The McLendon Family is one of my favorite series to read over and over again. So, I was excited to hear that I won an ARC giveaway to read this before the official release date.

I think this is the best book in the series by far and I hope there are plans for Cory and Dani's stories, because the whole dynamic of the family is incredible!!!

All the different story lines getting intermingled in this series, and even though the book is specific about Jonah, we're still get peeks into everyone else in the family.

Such a great story!

This book had so much angst - and I loved it!! I don't who I felt more sorry for Pryce or Jonah! Even growing up in the poly life Jonah wasn't prepared for who he fell in love with! And poor Pryce! I'm so glad Jonah befriended him when they were younger, I don't know if he would have survived without that friendship. Loved Chloe. She knew what she wanted and was a bound and determined to get it!

This is a great book and an awesome continuation to the Falcon Ridge series. Can't wait for Dani's story.

Return to the family we all love and entrench yourself in love, friendship and off the charts chemistry. Never a dull moment with this family. Jonah returns home and realizes what he wants and what he is willing to fight for. Is it traditional, hell no, but its finding the person or persons that will complete you and a love worth fighting for, truths are revealed and friendships tested. Through family interference, their own insecurities and doubts, will love conquer all? Explicit sex scenes, hot cowboys, what more could you want? This book keeps you wanting more!!

I really loved this book and the whole series is wonderful. This book is Jonah's story and after he was beaten so badly in the last book, I looked forward to what we would find out in this book. There are many emotions going on in this book and at times I was not sure Jonah was going to get his HEA. We also get to catch up with the whole McLendon clan. This is one of those books and series that you really want to read in order so that you know what has happend to bring everyone to this point in time with this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.

We All Need A Falcon Ridge Love!!!

This book has been a long wait but beyond worth the wait. This is a second chance romance between a guy his best friend and girlfriend. Shows how love can not be wrong in and way shape or form. Johan's story is my favorite in this series for many reasons. He has endured some rough times and left to sooth his wounds but when his family needed him he came back. I recommend this book to all.
