This was an okay, fast read. The characters felt very young to me, like they were teenagers in their thoughts and some of their actions, but from the descriptions of them I think they were supposed to be mid to late twenties... Something that aggravated me was how the author had them thinking the same things over and over and then talking about the same things over and over. Also, when Maddox has his epiphany that (spoilers) Verity might not be the greatest thing around, it seems to come out of nowhere - way before they actually meet up with them. And the fact that Verity wants to kill Allana, that seemed to be just a device to get the two of them together. By killing the Counselor, her father, she pretty much proved her loyalty... so lets kill her?
It seemed like this was going to be a series, but the link after the book goes to the author's shifter Conduit series and no searches brought up any other books about Verity, so guess not.

Verity by Kerry Adrienne is a novella that is featured in the Wicked Legends Box Set. This is a fast little dystopian romance of about 70'ish pages. This is a new-to-me author and I really enjoyed what I read; plenty of action and suspense, a titter of romance and a small bit of heat. I’d definitely like to see this as a full length novel and see what more can come of it.
