Fallen Elemental

Rate this book
*Warning-This book is Reverse Harem and contains sexual situations and coarse language. Recommended for readers 18 years and older.

Evie’s just turning 18, and her life is about to change in so many ways. She’s made a decision that she’s going to move away from her parents, who have abused her for years. She’s still in high school, though, and has to deal with the drama of that. Everything is the same, until the day four new students arrive at school. The four new students teach her about a hidden world that she’s subconsciously known about her whole life, but had no idea was real.

Fallen Elemental draws the reader into Evie’s world, where she learns about the powers that elementals have. The reader also follows along as she deals with cliques at school and bullying from malicious teenagers. It is a great book for everyone who ever has felt like a reject in today’s world.

Travel along with Evie as she learns about her past, about her powers, and about the meaning of love and that it has no limits.

Hi Everyone. If you're reading this, it means you want to know more about me, which is good because I like to share. Let's see, I'm a 24 year old writer who started writing because the voices in my head told me to. I would have dream after dream that would play on repeat until I would write them out. And that's how most of my books are born. It all starts with a dream.
um what else? I'm a big dog lover. I have a little shih Tzu called Mikey who likes to pop up on my Facebook page during giveaways. I have a beautiful little girl, Allison who has started her first year of school this year. She loves reading just as much as I do and seems to enjoy paranormal too.

… one word - yikes (in some places of this book).

Fallen Elemental is a RH book that definitely makes you question a lot of things happening in it. Like for example, why women are basically put on this earth to pop out babies? We aren't a vending machine people - so stop thinking that. Until the day a female gives birth to a damn can of coke - calm your tits.

In this book, you will meet Evie. She's an interesting character because she sort of lives a life where a typical RH book goes. She was abused at home, basically outcast in life, and she somehow gains magical powers one day. Throughout the book, she actually finds out that people in her life are bat shit crazy. She also learns about a lot of secrets that have been kept from her. So, to say she deserves to get mad or throw a tantrum or two - is the least she can do. She could go off and murder the people that betrayed her (in a way) but she doesn't.

Besides all of that, the romance in this book definitely gave me some questions. Never in my life of reading RH books have I questioned how the other people in this little circle feel when they are watching someone with their girl. Even if they are all bonded and shit.. this book kind of made me cringe at points and question myself. Like... how are they feeling? Are they okay with this happening? Do you think they are all critiquing the shit out of one another? Possibly giving some pointers? Maybe writing a yelp review or two on them? WHO KNOWS! .. but that's what I was thinkin while reading some of these scenes.

They were hot - don't get me wrong.. but my mind went down a dark path in this one.

Overall, it was entertaining enough but I still have some unanswered questions. My buddy told me that the author could be rewriting books 2 and 3.. so I might have to wait to dive into them until then.

This was good! It gave me Seraph Black vibes. I love the whole "fated to be together be a magical connection" theme. This story had twists and turns and i cannot wait until the next book!

This is an update to my original review which is still below. I wanted to add a couple stars after the edit revisions. It is much improved although it still has too many errors. I also applaud the book being added to KU. Mistakes are much more forgivable when you don't have to look at a book's sticker price. I still maintain that the actual story and characters are wonderful.

WOW! This book was definitely not a bad idea; not terribly original, but a good concept. It was very poorly executed. It is in severe need of proofreading and editing. There is hardly a page without typos. And yet that's still not the worst of it. I think the author would benefit from a writing class complete with grammar and spelling rules. I am truly trying to be helpful, not mean. There are so many cases of run-on sentences, incorrect grammar, and incorrect word usage in general that it's distracting. The sames mistakes are repeated throughout the book, so I don't think it was only poor editing. Even though the pages were labelled by character, when conversations started up, the speakers would change, going back and forth within a paragraph, sometimes within a run-on sentence, so that it was confusing. All basic writing rules were ignored to the detriment of the book.

Enough of the criticism. The story has potential and the characters are engaging. With quite a bit of polish this could be a good series. I wish I could read the follow-up book, because I am interested to know what happens next, but I can't pay for another low quality book. I would be more than happy to review it, even help edit it, but I can say that this book definitely wasn't worth the listed price.

Evie is an outcast at school, abused at home, and has weird things happen in her presence like electrocuting a babysitter trying to molest her - with her hands. When four new hunky guys show up at school, she figures it will only increase the taunting she receives, but instead, they immediately form a friendship with her. Turn out, they were sent by the Elemental Council to find her. Of course, when they do, they determine that Evie is even more special than they were told, but they have to convince her of that.

I read the rewritten version of this book and can only imagine what it was like originally. Nothing about it made me feel good or bad. There were parts I thought were stupid and parts I liked, but overall I was pretty neutral on what I was reading, except for one part at the end when But that aside, it was fine, maybe slightly below average.

I might have been talked into reading the rest of the series if my buddy wanted to, but she just released this rewrite of this book one - and it doubled in size. I can only imagine how thin the characterization and plot was to begin with, so I am assuming that the other books might have a similar problem. Plus the author admitted that she changed a bunch of stuff, so it is possible that books 2 and 3 might not even make sense. I think I will wait until another rewrite is released and decide at that time.

A paranormal reverse harem series instalment.
Had simplistic narrative but since there were like 5 POVs, that actually helped. Not very fond of many elements in the story:
-The h was bullied, abused, had terrible dating experiences which was hard to read about , especially all the violent abuse:(
- Also not a fan of high school teen pregnancy.
- all the H's had sexual experience except the h; in their culture they wait for their "bonded" but none of the H's bothered to wait for the h. Well, except maybe Teddy( he did other stuff though, even if he didn't go all the way). The h was so happy to get some positive attention in her pathetic life that she overlooked all this, even though it did bother her.

However the world-building was okay and the guys were good to the h. So an overall 3 stars.

2 stars my biggest issue is the author’s lack of follow through on the simplest rule of good story telling. Show don’t tell. Ex: Telling me how they feel does nothing for me I need to feel the chemistry between them. This books is filled to the brim with tell & barely any show. I will continue the series.

Soooo poorly written. Choppy and all tell-not-show. Nope!

(Not to mention the sex scenes are so badly and awkwardly written that it actually read like teenagers fumbling in the dark. Nothing remotely sexy about that. Just felt awkwardly voyeuristic and made me glad I wasn't a teenager anymore. *shudder*)

DNFing. The writing was horrible. The heroes and the heroine weren't believable at all. The heroine finds out she is an elemental and she doesn't freak out at all. She just went with the flow like a robot. Just can't deal with this.

I couldn't go on because:

- The book needs serious editing;
- The characters have zero charisma;
- The pace is too fast;
- I don't enjoy the relationships.

An interesting plot line that drew me into the story, I saw a few other people mention how the author made the MC a “baby machine” and weren’t happy about it. Personally I see this differently, I’ve read many many books and this is a common theme it’s just not as obvious in most. Generally the book follows that special child, in this case it follows the mother before the child is made and has been done before.. Sometimes the mother even surpass what is to be her destiny and completes the legacy of what the child will do leaving the child’s destiny moot. I thought the book was good and well paced. There’s a solid beginning foundation being laid for the series to stand on, though I fell the story is isolated as the main character has little interaction with an other Elementals than her current 4 bonded and the abusive adoptive parents.

As I am starting to notice with more and more Kindle Unlimited books, this one has some typos and other errors.

The story itself is pretty good. The plot is interesting and pretty unique. I liked most of the characters. Sometimes changing POVs can drag me out of the story, but in this book it worked pretty well.

The insta-trust and insta-love were a little to fast for my preferences, but at the same time it was pretty much explained by the world building.

I'll read more in this series when it is available.

First thoughts... story told by an ADD five year old stuck in a I-don't-really-give-a-care teenage girls body. Actions and dialogue were severely mentally stunted. People don't talk like that, they don't react like that to any given situation either... on the whole it was totally unrelatable. Paranormal or not, I couldn't even find a facet within the story where the characters or the world ever "came to life." The spunky, a-typical heroine, fell completely flat because it was forced and rushed. I couldn't even put a face to anyone other than "hot" and "beautiful"... none of the characters were distinctive either. Overall, the book was a let down and an "epic fail" in my opinion. I found myself editing and reconstructing the story at every turn of the page to have it make sense. The idea of the story, was good enough to give it a whirl. The execution was lacking in every way.

Interesting Story

I really liked the story, but the execution is a little clunky in places. The narrative is a little stilted at times, which is frustrating, because much of the time it flows well. This makes the stilted chunks stand out much more sharply.

I liked the world building a lot, with the idea of fallen angels having children with humans and creating elementals. I like the idea of heaven versus hell and the struggle for the waning power of the elementals leading to corruption of the race.

Much of the focus on this book is on Evie’s life and history. This means there is less time spent on the four men in her life. I’m hoping that the next book will address that imbalance because whilst I really like Evie’s character I want to know about the guys and why they are the way they are. I also want to know more about the elementals’ society and culture.

Poorly executed.....
Inventive storyline, but no meat. The heroine just accepted everything with no build up and it was insta everything with no character development. With a LOT more work it could have been a really good read. This book is what Kindle Unlimited was created for. Glad I didn't waste my money on this one.

Fallen elemental review

Disclaimer: this has spoilers so read at your own risk also I wrote this review as I went.

This story has good potential. I like the characters. I like the plot. I really like this story so far.

Now on to the critique. Until you get a couple of pages into the writing it hard to get through. Mainly due to to the amateur way of writing. It all thought dump and a dizzying one at that until the 1st interaction then it get better and makes it easier to read. So I do recommend just try to get through those first few pages.

After that I don’t know if it just the way the story goes or the author just has odd inconsistencies.

One of them is that they have premonition that the council will betray them yet they keep interacting with the council like the premonition never happened. Later it is brought to their attention that the council are in fact assholes but they act like they weren’t expecting this level of betrayal when all facts before made it a forgone conclusion the council can not be trusted.

Another is MC’s dad was supposed to arrive in a few days. Two weeks go by and man hasn’t shown up and again no further acknowledgment of this is made for a while. Feels like it was forgotten about. This man(the dad )is so confusing. Not sure what his end game is. Kinda wondering if the losses he has had has knocked some screws loose. Not bad way to go about the character but it not coming off well.

Next one is there appears to have been no further investigation as to who the MC’s real parents are or why she was placed with her adopted parents. Dad does explain some but still I feel some acknowledgment of at least putting the investigation on the back burner should have been made.

After that the way they are training her. If she did extraordinarily things instead of staying calm they continuously panicked. At first okay understandable but as the training continued I felt like reaching into the book and telling them to stop freaking out.

My next observation isn’t necessarily an inconsistency but there feels to be maturity issues with the boys. Like they seem well trained and mature but they keep making mistakes on how to handle the MC. This more of a writing issue than character issue. Like that the way this maturity issue is told in the story vs that it doesn’t make sense that the characters have this issue.

Another inconsistency is that Michael doesn’t remember that in his prophecy he already knew that they would be protecting the MC’s children. Why is he acting surprised even if he didn’t mention his whole vision to the group.

Also if the author does read these reviews I want her to understand that if you aren’t getting a lot of lengthy critiques I would take it has a positive as long as their are not bashing but honest heartfelt critiques like mine. I see so much potential in this story and it would just suck if the technical writing is the thing that makes me want to stop reading vs I just don’t like your story cause it’s not my cup of tea.

REVERSE HAREM IS MY KRYPTONITE

there i said it. now we can move on...

obviously that means i'm bias and also because of the immature way this comes across/is written you'll probs either love it or hate it.

i can tolerate some bullshit if theres enough of my favourite things to out weigh it.

that being said lets be real its not a 4 star written book its 4 stars because i enjoyed it and i dont need A class writing to do so.

oh and the immature part is a lot more understandble given they are all 18 if they were all older/not in highschool then even reverse harem would not let me tolerate the weird mix of immature/30 year old 'proper adult' behaviour. so yeah.

love the name evie.

hate the fact that theres abuse and she has a lot of bad shit happen to her but she doesnt fight back in the typical sense which can piss off people and honestly it did irk me a bit but hey if i had to compare her to anyone id say sansa stark you love her or you hate her. you think shes the smart long game silently plots revenge wolf in sheeps clothing or you hate her for being a weak arse pushover type who has no spine. etc.

sooo....

again if you love reverse harem then like me pretty much anything will be tolerable if you dont then anyone who is out of there teens will probably hate this or want to shake some sense into it...
shes sort of like bella swan too... like im nobody special i have zero friends blah blah but shes like a chosen one with special powers and yeah idk its hard to understand her one minute shes crazy strong and bamf the next shes a weak af pushover who needs approval cobstantly but again that could be her characterisation for a reason like abuse not just the writing... yeah anyway ive babbled enough.

i like it
i love the ideas and story.
lets be real who doesnt want 4 hot guys and magical powers?
i'm hoping it gets better from here... either way as long as it has a hea and some satisfying epilogue then everythings aces.

Try again

While the storyline was intriguing the writing style was not. From what I understand this author had written this story previously then had to re-write it due to so much flak about grammatical errors (which are still present) and storyline complaints. I figured that if this was a second attempt then this book should be very polished and ready to go. I am in no way trying to bash this author’s hard work but if this is take 2, I’m not impressed. It’s hard to explain. Her style is telling you what happens, not creative writing that is smooth and flows together. It is written in the perspectives of each male and the female. And it just doesn’t come off smooth. As if this is her first writing attempt and she’s in high school. I don’t want to be told every monotonous detail. It’s so hard to explain this but her sentence structure is poorly constructed. There are so many creative words out there she can use instead of what she’s using and it made this book come off as middle school/ high school with adult themes. And again this felt weak, there were these moments when her men were sticking up for her and were supposed to be wow factors and it felt dumb. And it’s 100% because this was poorly written. the steamy scenes were mediocre and that’s being kind. I really am not impressed or sure I’d finish the series because this felt written by a child. It also felt like this author was grasping at themes or how to make this an interesting and deep read but it ended up making not much sense and felt like there was too much filler trash . This book contains but is not limited to: two types of angels, then there’s “elementals” ( which are basically witches with elemental magic), then there’s reverse harem, then bullying, child abuse, corrupt council members and ect. It’s a lot of mismatched junk that just felt like fillers. If I had paid for this I’d be incensed.

Full disclosure, I'm only about 70% through this book, but I'm not sure I'm going to finish it. I'm surprised by the 2- and 3-star reviews that I'm seeing that say there is a solid plot and yet poor writing execution, because I also find the plot to be lacking. Evie's character seems completely unrealistic to me - she completely flip flops from scene to scene.

The entire book felt that way - crammed full of inconsistent scenes that make no sense when read together. For example, the boys believe in her and think she's enormously powerful and then all of a sudden don't want to train her? Why not? They had been begging to train her before this point. I'm so confused by all the contradictory elements in this story, that I really ended up disliking it, which is unfortunate, because I liked the basic premise. I feel the author relied too heavily on basic tropes, however, instead of trying to write an original story and didn't take care in her editing process to make sure her characters stayed consistent throughout. I also didn't feel like I got to know the male characters well at all, and I shouldn't be left hoping that all the character development will happen in the 30% I haven't read yet.

Edit: Made it 75% and DNF.

I agree with many of the other commenters when they say the plot had a solid basis but there are some issues with this story.

1) I get the bullying playing into the character development but... Her quick acceptance of the situation is kinda "stockholmy". For someone that had learned not to trust, this seems rushed for the sake of moving the storyline along.

2) There is a repetitiveness to word usage throughout the book as well as what the character's are doing. For example, one character repeatedly is found drinking tea. Not that this can't happen but leaves characters seemingly flat.

3) The interactions between characters seem awkward or unrealistic. This goes with character responses as well. You're left going.. Wait what? Why would you do that?

4) The male bonds are "all about the H" but they keep lying, are hiding things and are wishy washy about teaching the H. I agree with another reviewer that stated that not a single one of the males waited for their bond but there was so much emphasis on that. Plus it was confusing that everyone that was going to be part of the bond be present or the bond wouldn't form/i.e. not be able to form outside of the original bonding but yet... What about the others?

5) The guys seem hesitant about their parents but yet are willing to do whatever they ask? It follows the plot progression but not the character progression. The resounding dissonance makes for some confusing reading.

Aside from the issues, I think the story has potential. The concept isn't overly original but I don't think that takes away from the potential. I'm willing to see where book two goes but if the character development/growth isn't addressed and the reality of situations not corrected, the series will be hard to continue to follow.

Couldn't put this down!

I was riveted from the start! Evie has had a tough life. A loner at school out of pure protection... Once home her parents physically abuse her for even the most minor infraction. Her life is literally lived moment to moment. Soon she'll be eighteen and can escape this inanity. While at school she tries to be as invisible as possible. All that changed the day the whispers began in the school hallway. Four here guys had begun school, and everything she's ever known was about to change. This strong, beautiful, intelligent, fiercely protective, yet kind hearted young woman had endured on so much in her life and soon a veil would be lifted introducing her to even more the world has to offer. Why couldn't her parents live her like most others? Why did she have to cover the repeated bruises and broke bones? Taught to believe herself weak, thankfully deep down Evie felt her strength and kept it safe and quiet. Very soon with the help of these new guys and her surprise powers she'd truly come into her own. Supernatural power plays, epic romance, love, betrayal, family bods and more are at play. Not to mention a jaw dropping cliffhanger! I was hooked by the end of the first page and couldn't put it down until the last page was read. I for one am EAGER to see what happens in book two! Be warned there are definitely triggers of physical abuse and bullying, among others. I look forward to reading what else this exciting author has to offer 😊💗😊💗.

Slow yet fast

The plot moves fast but the writing seemed slow, if that makes any sense. The contents are a mix of YA and adult in an odd mash up. Teen angst meets adult life choices in this book.
Evie is understandably confused to find out she's an elemental and also copes with learning she has 4 bonded, their term for fated mates. While dealing with the overly done plot of "mean girl head cheerleader" Evie is learning how to control the powers she inherited as well as juggling the emotional stress of bonding to 4 guys. Secrets about her past are brought to light, about her family and the guys'. She also discovers a prophecy about herself. Needles to say turning 18 was monumentally life changing.
I do think she went from being abused to mate chasing very quickly. People who are systematically abused, as she has been, tend to flinch from touching. Anger in others, sudden movements, being grabbed from behind are more likely to cause panic attacks than loving feelings. Space is usually sought more than sneaking kisses in janitor closets. It wasn't a bad book but her behavior wasn't consistent with someone who had been abused for 13 years and bullied at school for the last 3. The change of POV also happened suddenly in scenes. Sometimes even in the middle of conversations making tracking difficult. With some tweaking this could go from choppy and rushed to a rather amazing book very easily. I am intrigued enough to check out book 2 to see where this goes.

Reading this was almost like drinking Diet Dr. Pepper.
It tastes okay.. but you know it could be better.

I honestly can't put my finger on just what annoys me about this book. Maybe the Mary Sue status?
Evie, the heroine, is perfect. She's super smart, she's got all the power, she's gorgeous. Yet, she's unaware of the latter two things. She's mistreated and bullied at school and abused by her parents. Until she meets the guys, things are pretty bleak for her.

The guys were okay, I guess. They were essentially all the same character though. I think the only distinctive one was Dane, but really he wasn't. He kept telling us he was this jerk who rarely cares about how he treats people. The other guys comment on it as well, but as far as the story goes, he was no different than the other guys.

I only made it halfway because not much was happening. We read about her day to day life in school Her going to class, having lunch with the guys, avoiding her bullies and her parents' abuse, her studying, and recollections of her past abuses (that they guys can hear/see telepathically so of course they get mad on her behalf, but nothing is ever done about it).
After a while I was just over it.
I could have probably skipped ahead and tried to find where the story starts to pick up, but then I realized I just didn't care.

Fell for the Fallen Elemental

Mike air,  Ky-fire, Teddy-earth Dane -water all bring different elements to this book of fallen elemental.  Evie has been raised by terrible people who have abused her and school mates that have bullied her, but she is not weak in the least. She meets some guys at school and begins a friendship that becomes more. She has character that attaches you to her and makes you see her struggle in trusting others. She is an elemental and perhaps a bit more learning that she weilds more power than anyone before her. She maintains wanting to finish school with all the havoc in her life. Reading through this book you find faith in her guys and in who she will become. I enjoy books that make the female strong.  I'm seriously in love with how the Author writes and pulls you in. I like discovery books in which a person comes to realize they are different, coming into learning about themselves and who they are. I have read every work this author has written since discovering her brilliant works. I am waiting patiently for book 2 as this ends in a cliffhanger, a surprise, and some twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat looking for the next! I would give this book a thousand stars and then some !

Dnf halfway through.

I tried so hard to like this book but I just can’t. The writing is really immature, not because these are teenagers so they should be immature but the writing itself. It very much reads like a 13 year olds angst filled Wattpad story. I tried to get past that but once it came to the justifying abuse stuff I just couldn’t.
This book was a lot of tell instead of show. None of the guys had any distinct voices or even descriptions.
They would often declare things without us having ever seen anything to back that up, right when they met the female lead and hadn’t interacted with her one of the guys says she’s the kindest person he’s ever met, sometimes she sasses back at the people bullying her but she never gives them even half of what they deserve. WHERE?! We haven’t see. Any of this. Where was she kind to anyone?? Where did she sass anyone??? Where did she ever even kind of stick up for herself???
When they are trying to get her to leave her abusive home and she’s going on about the reasons she can’t leave, ok ya, that can make sense for someone that has been abused but then the guys are like no ya that totally makes sense I’m so frustrated by this situation and that we can’t do anything. Bro what?
I just can not.

This story had a very good plot-line and I enjoyed the drama but it all felt really flat. The emotions and reactions to the events that were happening to the main character felt unrealistic. And I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted because there was no true emotion. It felt like I was being told what people were feeling and not shown. And some of the drama was a bit forced. I know some bullies can go after others for no reason but the main character isn't supposed to be weak just a loner and I would have wanted to see a better reason for the jealousy besides getting less attention from new students. I don't know I just feel that the drama could have been better, maybe not as childish/ vapid (but drama is childish: idk!)? And the main character considers herself pretty but not beautiful? I can see this happening I guess but with her abuse I would think there would be more damage to her self esteem? I guess that is one of the reasons it felt fake.

But this is all my opinion so please if the synopsis sounds good to you try it out. There is a cliff hanger though, so if you get attached real quick to the characters be prepared to get the next book.
