A mysterious outbreak spreads quickly, ravaging the globe. The illness is debilitating and deadly. Those who suffer from the virus, succumb to a horrible death. Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there. The infection transforms them into an unstoppable force of mindless killing machines.
At the onset of the epidemic, Nila Carter and her family retreat to her father's cabin in search of safety and seclusion from all that transpires around them. With supplies, fresh water, and fertile ground, they are joined by a handful of strangers and position themselves for long-term survival.
Despite the losses that each of them suffers, they resolve to stay put and emotionally move forward no matter how long it takes. Good book
I enjoyed the first book more than this one. It still was a very good and engaging read. It was easy to relate to the main characters because it is an emotional book. But I didn't agree with their choices at the end of the book.

My review is based off both books in the series...
I flew through this 2 book series. The story was freaking fantastic and the characters were amazing. I go through phases where I need a good zombie story and this read was exactly what I needed. Even more so. Druga is a master creator of the undead and the world she envisioned was absolutely perfect. These were my first two books by the author and will definitely not be the last. I have found another new favorite zombie author to quench my zombie fix. 5 Stars!!

I must be a glutton for punishment because this was another extremely dreary apocalyptic read. Anytime you think someone might stand a chance their life is usually savagely taken. Heroine continues to make unsafe choices without thinking of her remaining child who needs her. Can’t say I’m upset she pulled a Jonestown situation of her own given the circumstances though so she’s not all bad. Don’t know why they are so determined to find other people and civilization. Seems safer to stay on their property as long as possible but by the end they’re in Florida. So who knows what’s next!

Like many of the other reviewers I really enjoyed book 1 and I was a bit disappointed in this one. It still was good and as I am invested in the characters so I will continue to see how it ends.

Throughout this entire series there is a severe disconnect between love, loss, & family. The words are there, but the feelings and actions that should have been exhibited are not and the decisions that should have been made, weren't.
The emotional responses are flat. It's especially bad between the mom, Nila, & her remaining daughter. Her responses are nonsensical and she seems fine with constantly leaving her kid for someone, anyone, else to watch. Excuse me, but this IS the apocalypse. Why she wasn't more strict with her, for her safety, I'll never understand.
She consistently underrated the danger, and makes inane decisions, which have deadly and/or dangerous consequences.
She gives out information that gets people killed and constantly makes decisions that simple common sense would have halted. And she still has this "kind of" strained friendship, possible, future romance that still doesn't gel. It's just awkward through the entire series.
And the typos, ugh.

Wow,
They really didn’t even try to get those two boys back. Not even after they heard that the virus struck Canada as well.
They just left them behind and the only thing our main character can selfishly talk and think about is, how she suffers carrying this traumatic memory. She is so self absorbed she even lacks parental instincts.
She talks so much with her brother Bobby and the word quarantine is thrown out several times and our main character not once implements that tool to keep her people safe. Which contradicts her pompous talk that knowledge is power to protect people.
I didn’t like the writing style where the main characters assumptions and perception of situations and people was the authors way of telling the story.

Entertaining story, good twists and turns, real characters but.... it's hard to get emotionally involved due to the writer's style- emotions are just words- there's no physicality to them, and therefore they don't reach deep. Oh yeah, shed a tear a time or two, but it has potential for much more. The characters just feel emotionally detached, making it hard to really care a lot. The book lost one star for that- the other, for its poor editing. It really needs a re-edit. Very distracting errors.

I definitely liked the book and stayed interested throughout. But as mentioned in my previous update there were some issues with the characters that annoyed me with this one that I don’t remember being an issue with the first book. The ending was kind of weird. I can’t figure out if the author just didn’t feel like delving into possibilities of a cure or if she was going for a shock factor or what the goal was but it sort of felt lazy. I definitely agree that it would be impossible to keep the infection out. But I have a hard time with the idea that they would just shoot people, including children, on site without any investigation.
I definitely don’t understand how they would have gone through the whole infection within one year and then it be over? Maybe the next book will explain it. And I guess they just left Billy there? And how was it so easy for them to travel anywhere? Most zombie books or movies develop a lot of their plots just from scavenging and moving around and all the obstacles that traveling brings but this one made it seem so easy.

I just have to say this... I cannot stand Nila. She is such a horrible, self-centered, ignorant person. First, she keeps pawning her kids off on anyone who will watch them while she takes unnecessary risks. She is all "I can't kill a poor infected child that is suffering horribly and in intolerable pain because they are human and we are better than that" then she is "We should have killed the unborn, perfectly healthy baby, because that is what the mom wanted." Huh? She is constantly doing whatever she wants, even if literally EVERYONE is telling her it's dangerous. And she does these things for the dumbest reasons "I never got to say good-bye to my house!" Ugh, seriously? It makes total sense to risk your life or risk leaving your group one less person to protect them and the children so you can say bye to a house. Sorry, it's just infuriating. FYI: I am only 75% done, maybe it will get better, but if it stays on this course, I'm not going to be able to continue with the series.

Quite a novel and somewhat refreshing take on the zombie apocalypse and I enjoyed both books.
There are quite a few typos and grammatical errors and it would have benefitted from better proofreading.
It has a good pace, some very unexpected twists and turns looking from two viewpoints.
Friendship, betrayal and simply human errors are all there with a developing plot and a well thought out story. Not your million screaming zombies being cut down by manic heroes and there are some nice explanations about being bitten by the almost dead and the actual dead. This might seem a bit confusing, but I certainly took the point although it was not really developed on.
I like the slow build but the inevitable ending seemed a bit rushed it's as the last page could just have been "And then, everything was OK."
Well worth 3 stars bordering on 4.

I really enjoyed this sequel. I liked how Lev had his own POV, especially because he kept a lot of his emotions and feelings to himself.
The pacing was good and I was surprised by quite a lot that happened.
The new characters were a good addition. They fit in well and were important to the survival of the group.
It was sad when certain characters died and I think I would've reacted the same way as Nila.
I liked the ending. It was positive and gave a sense of hope, which I hope continues in the next book.

LOVE this series!
At only 28% read, and I HAD to write review....Yes it's that good! I don't want this story to end!!! Already several unexpected twists and turns! I can't get enough and don't wanna put it down! The characters have become more like friends and ppl I know....I feel their heartache, laugh with them, even shed a tear through their heartache! Perfectly paced, never boring, just Wow! I now have a new fave author!

Great story that has so much going on! Every page is begging to be read as quickly as possible as tension keeps building. Character's that you'll be going that make it without getting bit or killed. I became attached to most everyone Ms. Druga added into My Dead World 1 & 2.

Easy enjoyable read with a few surprises to the story line that were nice.
Second book in a trilogy. First time reading this author. Easy reading style, good tension build up, good character development. You need to read book one before this book. If you enjoy post apocalyptic fiction with an almost zombie like viral aspect, which is treated very well in these books, then I am sure you will enjoy this book (s)

Much better than the first book. In this one the protagonist reaps the consequences of her naive insistence that the old rules still apply and that the strangers she talked to on the radio were her friends.
More loss, more stupid mistakes but at least she is starting to learn and change her behavior accordingly.
This installment has some fun twists and zombie action but the worst monsters are the other survivors!

Main characters are inconsistent, make bad decisions or poorly thought out decisions and are generally annoying. This was present on the 1st book too but got worse on this one to the point I won't bother with the next book.
If feels like the author wants to bring up ethical issues but they feel shoehorned into the book and the characters aren't even consistent with the previous soap boxes they got onto.

This author did a great job of making this realistic. Things didn't always go perfect for the main characters like in some books. Author stuck to a main line didn't jump all over. I

Couldn't put it down..
I liked how you couldn't figure out who was going to die, who was going to lead, or where this group would end up. When I read , subconsciously I put myself in the story, deciding how I would handle situations. Jacqueline has such a flair for the unexpected plot twists! I'm officially a fan of her storytelling!

An amazing sequel
As with the first book i was gripped and eager to know what was going to happen throughout the pages. Again there were sad and happy times throughout the book but I loved every second and was sad to see it end. I am definitely going to be reading books more from Jacqueline druga.

The second book was even better than the first. Great reads.
I really enjoyed this game on a zombie apocalypse, it gives you hope that someday everything will be okay. Great story with fleshed out characters in realistic situations. Once again, Ms Druga created a world that is believable and whose tales are intriguing.

Definitely one to read
Well! Admiration to Jacqueline Druga. Such interesting scenarios, some evil minded people, not funny but laughable moments. Characters I would loved to have survived succumbed to their demise one way or another. Two days read and book two finished it's one you can put down

As always Druga never disappoints. I know the book will be well written and the characters fully developed into people I feel I know. The plot isn’t the same old same old but instead a fresh new look at the subject. Enjoy this book but beware you get totally hooked quickly!

An excellent and riveting read.
I started My Dead World 2 as soon as I finished the first book and before I knew it I was more than halfway through. It is fast-paced and so much of a page-turner that I was totally riveted and had no clue to time. It's a brilliant series so far and I recommend it.

Just loving this series so far! The further 'adventures' of Nila and Co are suspenseful, terrifying, and will break your heart. I should know better than to get attached to characters in books like this! Not your typical zombie series, the lore is fresh and interesting and I really am enjoying it! Now, onto book 3!

For me, the series feels like it’s ended. I’ve seen a spoiler for the third book and to be honest, it feels like a good ending. I’m happy hahah and I don’t need my heart to broken even more.
I do feel like the writes does kill off a lot of characters a bit to quickly in my opinion, but maybe I’m just a bit heartbroken after reading these two books.
