kismet (noun) ~ a power that is believed to control what happens in the future
Brody Collier disappeared without saying goodbye. It was for the best—he was everything I was avoiding. The regimented Air Force lifestyle, the way his love made me weak, discarding me in the end . . . like my choices didn’t matter.
Emberlee Winchester appeared in my life, and I didn’t have a chance. She was everything I wanted— just at the wrong time. I had to break her heart so she could find her own way. I always planned to come back for her, but making her mine was a greater feat than I expected.
Blowing my life apart wasn’t my intent. Weaving it back together was my biggest challenge.
Her friends hate her. Her father disappoints her. Her fight is waning. It’s the perfect time for me to win her over— or so I thought.
Our struggles bring us together. Neither of us have a choice.

She lives with her husband, son, and four dogs in Fleming Island, Florida. When she isn’t writing or reading you can find her stuck in front of really bad reality shows or watching Sons of Anarchy. I'm feeling a bit off my rocker... hysterical. I wonder if my straight jacket will be sparkly. I'll put in a request for them to refrain from giving me a pink one. I don't like pink.
Your eyes light up and crinkle when you mention her. The tone of our voice could thaw an igloo. Your smile - it's genuine.
Dude, when you get her to talk to you again... word of advice. Don't let her cook for you. I don't think I spent more than five minutes out of the bathroom all night.
That's why you won't get your man card back. It was a few extra reps, and you'd think you were in a chain gang in a maximum security prison.
My boyfriend is downing whiskey like he's the taste tester for Wild Turkey.
We know what we're doing. Both of us know we're playing with fire - we struck the match, but you don't need to pour the gasoline.
My Review:
I started Kismet with a sense of trepidation as I didn't care the character of Emberlee in the first book of the series and knew she would be the featured character of this installment. Emberlee was a rich mean girl, arrogant, selfish, fiery, despicable, manipulative, moody, callous... you get the picture... and she had been rather diabolical with her conniving mind games. However, I couldn't help but thaw and begin to feel empathetic toward her as the narrative began to peel back her layers, reveal her history, and expose her deluded motivations. She was a twisted sister, but at least she realized it, regretted it, sought help, and worked hard to atone for her misdeeds. And who doesn't love seeing a mean girl suffer some? Kismet had an eventful storyline with many twists and turns and I enjoyed each curve in the road of Emberlee's transformation and re-connection with Brody. Ms. Lunsford's wicked sense of humor was in good form with loads of clever banter and amusing inner musings. In addition to the saucy levity, the writing was sizzling with sensuality as well as emotive, thoughtful, and insightful as Emberlee struggled to atone and improve. The tight-knit group expanded with two additional characters bringing added layers and texturing to the tale. I am more than eager to see what Ms. Lunsford does with the next installment.
When an author can take a character that doesn't have that much likability in the previous book and have her be the lead that you actually care and root for...you have a winner. Emberlee was quite the source of drama, and unwanted angst in book one. You knew there was more to her story, but little did I know it would be enough to make me not only like her, but fall in love with her. And Brody, he was all that. I enjoyed his struggle to fix things, his determination and his all consuming prideful love. Can't wait for more from this group. Thanks Leigh Ann!!
I always enjoy when an author can make me like someone I disliked in a previous book. Emberlee has issues and in this book we see her work through them and redeem herself, while I am not sure she worked through them completely, she did make steps in the right direction. I liked Brody a lot.
I wondered how the author could redeem such a hated character as Emberlee. Yep, she did. And Brody...this guy....big time swoon.
I love when an author can make you change your mind about a character that you just swore you would always hate. In Playing Fate Emberlee "Lee Lee" made so many people miserable. She's devious and conniving and just such a bitch. But in Kismet the reader gets to read her POV and she was so devastated by Brody's betrayal that it hardened her. Made her cynical. Made her think she could control everyone else's life and she knew who should be with who-whether they wanted to be with that person or not.
Brody is determined to make things up to Emberlee. He knows how badly he screwed up and he wants her back. He might have waited 3 years too long to make his move, but his head is in the game and he's going to get his girl. But what does Emberlee think after all these years?
I have to admit, part of me wanted Emberlee and Mason to have more than a screw buddy relationship. He may have treated her like crap a few times, but he always referred to her as his best friend. After seeing how much she loved Brody, I realized it just wasn't meant to be with Mason.
I love the way the characters just keep evolving and the cast keeps expanding. Great series!
Just when I thought I couldn't like Emberlee, Leigh Ann sends me Kismet and any thoughts I had went right out the window. In Playing Fate she was the girl we loved to hate. In Kismet, she's the girl who breaks our heart. We find all that she has struggled with in her life in regards to love and acceptance and we finally get it. We get why she has these huge walls up. We get why she hates change and almost destroys the true, good things she has going for her. And when we get all that we finally understand her at her core and we start rooting for her. We start seeing the truth. We see that deep down she is fiercely loyal. We see that she loves with all of her, not just pieces. And sometimes those exact traits can be a person's downfall but will it be hers?
And of course in true Leigh Ann fashion, she throws another great, just all around good guy into the picture. You can tell from the very first time he comes on the pages that his love for Embe is true. It's real. And it's raw. The question arises though, can he earn her trust and forgiveness after he broke her heart 3 years ago? He had his reasons, although maybe a bit distorted.
Leigh Ann gets better with every book and this book proves it. I always know that things will get a bit emotional reading her words but this one is the holy grail in her collection. She pulled emotions out that most of us never want to deal with. She deals with the very things so many of us avoid and when she throws it in your face your find yourself reflecting on your own life.
Being back with the gang was fun and the addition of Brody and Brecklynn just added that much more to the story. I can't wait to see how Mason's story plays out in the next book.
This is book two of the Endgame Series. I recommend reading book one because this book and that book intertwine with stories. This book gives you more depth into Emberlee and Brody's relationship which is not mentioned a lot in book one. But they run a little parallel to each other. Emberlee is in college and has had the same group of friends since they were kids. Her father in a general in the Air Force and their relationship is very strained. Emberlee really doesn't feel That her dad loves her or has no pride for her. She runs into Brody at a function and he's joining the air force. Brody's uncle is very respected by Emberlee’s father so he takes Brody under his wing and helps him. After Emberlee and Brody began to fall in love he disappears. And Emberlee is heartbroken so she does whatever she has to to deal. Emberlee begins basically sabotaging her relationship with her friends etc all because of her daddy issues and Brody. This book has the same group of friends that I loved in book one. They have a relationship that is so good and solid that even when one of their own messes up they do whatever they need to help them. I was glad to get Emberlee’s and Brody's story this time around. Leigh Ann Lunsford is such a great writer that this book was easy to finish quickly. The writing style is great and I absolutely love The characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
This book is amazing. Lee Lee comes from a military family. Her Dad never showed much attention to her and it hurts her. She is very heavy headed. Brody comes from a single parent family. He comes home from deployment and wants to get back with Lee Lee who he fell in love with years ago before he left. This book is amazingly written and has a great story plot.
Kismet by Leigh Ann Lunsford a thrilling five-star read. Kismet is the second book in the Endgame series, the first being playing fate, this book sees some parts of Playing fate from a different perspective where the last book was focused on Deacon and Saylor this book is focused on Emberlee and Brody, and the rest of the crew take a back seat in this one, with Brody’s sister joining the fold and creating chaos in the only way Leigh Ann Lunsford can, the kind that make her books un-put downable. Emberlee Abigail Winchester or Lee Lee and Embe as she is more fondly known by friends and Brody, is a broken young woman, her friends hate her, her farther disappoints her, she was left heartbroken and wondering if she would ever be able to put the pieces back together 3 years before when after she finally succumbed to Brody only to be broken by him leaving the day after and never saying goodbye himself, letting someone else do that for him. By not being man enough at the time he made Lee Lee believe that she wasn’t worth fighting for at a time she needed all her fight to survive. Brody regretted the decisions he made as soon as he made them, but you can’t alter your past only your future and if Kismet has anything to do with it, we don’t always get to make the decisions ourselves, but we do have a helping hand, by the power that controls what happens on our future. Kismet. Brody is going to need all the helping hands he can get to prove to his Embe that he loves her and regrets his decision those years ago. Lee Lee needs a friend as she is working though some stuff, and Brody agrees they can be friends, as he knows she will be his eventually, he doesn’t mind waiting for her to realise this. They both face such big issues, will Lee Lee ever be able to get over the jealously she feels about how her farther mentored Brody, and will he ever be able to get over her past with Mason? Will they be able to let go of the past? Or will the past destroy the future. Only time will tell. Leigh Ann Lunsford is fast becoming an author I can’t rate highly enough; she writes with a passion and funny sarcasm that I can only imagine she must be a very funny lady. The character’s leap off the page and you wish you could be friends with them in real life, the crew are amazing they pull the story together.
LOVE WITHOUT GOODBYE?? Emberlee Winchester was too young when she met him. She knew her military father would not approve of their relationship, but that didn’t stop her. Her father always disappointed her with his way of not showing Emberlee how much he loved her. She thought she was a disappointment to him in every way. The one thing Emberlee knew was that she would not live the regimented military way. She fell fast and hard for him, she trusted him. Emberlee thought he was her soul mate. Brody Collier is the Airmen, Emberlee’s father will mold to be his clone. He has eyes the color of mocha and dreamy to look at. He soon finds out how much Emberlee will mean to him. For her own good he can’t stay with her. He knows it will break her heart because his is also broken. It has been three years since Emberlee and Brody had any kind of relationship. She can’t get him off her mind no matter what she does or who she is with. She has turned to her best friend for what she needs but even being with him won’t stop the heart ache. She is an adult now and Brody has only four weeks left of duty. He wants her back but Emberlee has been hurt too bad to play anymore of Brody’s games. He wants her forgiveness and her heart. They know they are destined to be together but can Brody convince Emberlee and can Emberlee reconnect with her friends after the horrible lies she told and the lives she messed with out of selfishness? Emberlee’s world has collide with misery that she has created of her own free will. Can Brody win her back? Can Emberlee come to grips with her relationship with her father? Will Emberlee’s friends forgive her and let her back into the fold? You have to read this to find out!! Leigh Ann Lunsford is a very creative author and will have you interested from the first page! She can write a story like no other. The characters in this series are very strong and very likeable. It would be sad to miss this read!!
Kismet is the second book in the Endgame Series. There are references to book one, Playing Fate, but not enough that you have to read it to understand this story. Should you read Playing Fate? That’s a definite yes! After you enjoy getting to know the Crew in book one, reading Kismet will leave you a little breathless and hopeful for more! This story is about Brody and Emberlee with an underlying story between Emberlee and her father. “I hated the number fifteen until today. He spoke fifteen words to me last year. He healed us with fifteen words today.” Emberlee and Brody start their love affair while they are young, her 16 and him 19. The three year age difference is too much for Brody, due to having a sister Emberlee’s age. He soon realizes his mistake but doesn’t know how to fix it. Can he fix them before he loses her forever? Emberlee is…she thinks…Emberlee wants…oh my goodness this girl is a hot mess! She is best friends with Avery, Caden, Mason, Deacon and Adriane. And have been since they all were toddlers. When things happen to change Emberlee’s life, the choices she makes alters everyone. Can mistakes be forgiven? Will lies and misunderstandings change anything?
“No matter to whom you are born, all that matters is who is there through it all. That’s your family. Blood may run through your veins, but love and loyalty feeds your heart . And soul. That’s something I don’t want to lose again.”
I loved this entire story. The ending, not so much. While it made me laugh it only made me want more! Well played Lunsford, well played! I cannot wait to see what kind of trouble comes next and I know there is trouble brewing!
Kismet is book two in Leigh Ann Lunsford's endgame series. I have to admit while I loved the first book, I was apprehensive as soon as I saw it was about Emberlee. I absolutely love her name but after her ridiculous stint in book one I wasn't sure I wanted to know anything more about her.
Emberlee Winchester is the daughter of an Air Force general. The only thing she's tried to do is make him proud and have his love and acceptance. But she has never been on the receiving end of it. She lost her virginity to an airman recruit that her father will mentor. Though she comes off as quite mean, deep down she just wants someone to understand her.
Brody Collier is a gorgeous airman who will do whatever he can and has to to protect what is his. And Emberlee has been his since the beginning. Except he was to immature and dumb to keep her. While he would do anything for her, he broke her, absolutely shattered her heart and inadvertently changed who she was. Three years later he shows up in her life again. Will he be able to show her he's always loved her? Or will get give no craps after how he treated her.
This was a cute story. As much as I didn't care for Emberlee in the first story I was happy to hear her thoughts and why she did what she did. I honestly found I relate with her A LOT more than I would have imagined. How she pushes people away and uses something else to express her feelings. Yep, girl I get you. I also couldn't believe how persistent Brody was. I mean I guess when you know you know but wow he was NOT giving up. I cannot wait to continue the series!
Kismet is the second book in The End Game series by Leigh Ann Lunsford and tells the story of Emberlee Winchester, the daughter of a strict Air Force general from Eastborough, Kansas, and the sweet, handsome, Brody Collins from Texas. Embe has spent her whole life trying to be the type of daughter her father would hopefully love and be proud of, even if he never made her feel that way. While attending yet another dinner to recognize her father’s accomplishments, she ran into the gorgeous, sexy, Airman, Brody Collins who was everything she’d been avoiding. One touch from Emre and Brody was...gone. She was perfection. Everything he could ever want, and he would have her forever when the time was right....or so he thought. Now, three years later, she still craves and hates him. It seems making her his is proving to be much harder than he originally planned. “My heart needs to heal her. My soul needs to mend her.” Will Brody be able to gain Embe’s trust again? Can Embe forgive Brody for crushing her heart and walking away? Kismet does end with a cliffhanger, but even if you don't like them, it's definitely worth the read! This was my first book by Lunsford, and the time I finished it, I was on Amazon one-clicking the first book (Playing Fate) in the End Game Series. I can’t wait for the release of other the books in this series and I look forward to reading much more of Lunsfords work in the future!
Oh my lord! 5 freaking stars! Leigh Ann Lunsford is an amazing writer! I would recommend this book to everyone and anyone!! We first met Emberlee in Playing Fate and she was the girl we loved to hate, and now she's getting her own story.
Emberlee has struggled her whole life, she wants to be loved and be accepted, and I think we can all relate to that. She has some huge walls up, she hates change, and she almost destroys the one good thing she has going for her. When we finally really got to understand what was happening with her and what all she's going through, you can't help but root for her. Seeing deep down that she is just fiercely loyal. When she loves, she loves with her whole self, not just small pieces, and sometimes that can we someone's downfall.
In Lunsford fashion she brings in another amazing guy in, and you can tell he really truly loves Emberlee, it's the type of real and raw love. But what happens when questions come out, can he earn her trust and forgiveness, after he broke her heart three years ago? Even if he did have reasons, no matter how messed up they may be, can she trust him again?
Leigh Ann has a way of making me feel like she has chewed me up and spit me back out. I laughed and cried with the characters, I felt like I knew them. She puts in so many emotions that many don't want to deal with. I cannot wait to see what happens next!!
It is 10 STARS for me… Such an awesome story. I love Brody!!! He is an amazing character that has served in the Air Force and now is home to take what belongs to him. He lost something because it was the right thing to do and now he is making it his mission to get it back at any cost. He is a great brother and son and shows how genuine he really is. Emberlee feels that she is not loved and would do anything in the world for her dad to tell her he loves her. She has lived her life trying to make him see her when she thinks he cares nothing about her at all. She ends up falling in love only to get her heart broken into a thousand pieces and so she has one thing that keeps her mind off of that man and she does it quite a few times. Emberlee has a great group of friends that all live by each other and go to college together. They have all been together since birth and they may get on each other’s nerves at times but they are still friends no matter what. This is such a breathtaking book. I love how it picked up from the last one and just kept going strong. I am so in love with the characters and I love how they have remained friends through the highs and lows of their lives. Such an amazing read.
Kismet by Leigh Ann Lunsford is the second book in the Endgame Series. This book’s timeline overlaps in part with the first book in the series, so it may be helpful to read book one first – however, the way that the author hasn’t written this book, you can certainly read this as a standalone.
This is Brody & Emberlee’s stories and they have a shared past, and maybe, just maybe a future. Brody is in the military, the Air Force to be exact. He walked out of Emberlee’s life, even though it was not her choice. It was the wrong time, the wrong place.
Emberlee’s life is falling apart quicker than she can imagine, spiraling out of control. She just wants everyone to be happy, even if she’s going about it the wrong way. Where did this spiral begin and where does it end? Is she strong enough to change and take back her life?
Kismet is a stellar follow-up from the first book in the series. I absolutely loved how the author wove this book around the timeline of the first book. It was great to see another side of the previous story through Emberlee’s point of view, as well as, part of the story that’s driving the why behind her actions.
Leigh Ann Lunsford delivered a great set of characters/friends within this story and is difficult to not fall in love with each and every single one of them. They each have their own unique personalities that sets them apart from the other characters and gives you a glimpse into why they may or may not be appealing to others.
Kismet was not my favorite book out of this series but I commend the author for taking the heroine in this story and making me actually like her. In the first book Playing Fate I despised her...really wanted to throat punch her a few times. But in this book, you were able to see what her history was and why she acted out like she did. The hero Brody, I liked from the beginning. Yes I was mad at him for the way he left Emberlee but he did what he thought at the time to be the best for everyone. When Brody comes back into Emberlee's life it is at her worst and he helps her through it all, helping her become stronger and become a better woman than she has been.
Let me start off by saying that I’m terrible at review, but I just need to get this out... I really wanted to love this book and parts of it I did. I loved the comedy and the way the friendships were. With that being said. I just felt like there was something missing or maybe there was just too much. This book was almost too long and not in a good way. I felt like there was a lot of filler and not much of a solid story. I’m a fast reader, but I just could not get in to the story. The author jumped around from scene to scene. I have about 30 unanswered questions regarding different situations in the book that just kind of ended with no explanation.
Brody and Emberlee had an instant connection when they first met. But Brody broke her heart when he felt it was easier to let her go. Now he is back and no longer under her father's thumb. Can the reunion of two lost souls be just what they both have been looking for? Or will Brody once again break her down to nothing? With great characters that redeem themselves in the end this was a great read.
Brody and Emberlee have a start many will be surprised by. However seeing the obstacles they face to move forward in the love is profound. Lunsford is able to continue the series with the depth and details to the story is amazing. Don't miss reading as Brody and Emberlee work to settle into the new reality of them.
Lundsford knows how to really get you wrapped up in a story! I really felt like I knew all of theses characters & I was there with them! I love this book & cant wait to move on to the next one! The ending has me laughing so hard & then she just leaves me!😂 I'm jumping into the next book right now!
Going into this book I didn't know how I was going to feel about Emberlee. I wasn't her biggest fan in the first book. Getting to know her through her story my opinion has changed. This series is so good!!!
Wow... I have been waiting for this book since I read Playing Fate.. Now I can't wait for book 3.
In book 1 we are introduced to Emberlee Winchester. She was the character that you disliked because of the trouble she caused due to her own personal issues. In book 2 the author gives you an amazing chance to fall in love with her despite all her wrong doing. Emberlee is the daughter of an Air Force Colonel and has always thought she was a disappointment to the first man in her life. At the young age of 16 she aims high when she set her eyes on Airman Brodie Collier.
Omg!!! Brody is so swoon worthy, well after he apologizes for his epic mess up!!! However, Emberlee gives him a run for his money, this book has tons of love and lots of drama... but omg!!! The laughs I got outta their antics and saylor and emberlee holy crap!!! I laughed so freaking hard!!! Loved this book too... now off to 3 happy reading:)
Gosh, where do I start. Kismet is without a word of a lie, my favourite book by Leigh Ann Lunsford. Emberlee stole my heart. Most of the time I was torn between slapping the daylights out of her, to wanting to hug her so tight and never let her go. She is one of the most insecure and unsure characters I have ever read about. She really was her own worst enemy. Emberlee feels like she is a deer caught in headlights when she first lays eyes on Brody. She tries the tough, insolent teenager act, but she is fooling no-one. Brody is just as taken with her, but is not in a position to giver her everything she deserves, so he cuts and runs, taking her heart with him. Emberlee has so many deep issues, it is going to take a guy with herculean strength and perseverance, to help her see her worth. Because of this unstoppable urge to win her father’s affections, she sets out on a path of self destruction, exhibiting such erratic and uncharacteristic behavior, she is almost lost her friends. Her actions toward them were almost unforgivable. Her issues went far deeper than anyone could have comprehended. It physically hurt to read her story, and travel the totally destroying road with her. Brody had his part in her ultimate freefall over the edge. He left, but before he did, he led her to believe that he used her, and again she would be relegated to insignificance. He was not to know the acute heartbreak he would leave in his wake, but even if he was aware, I don’t think he would have done anything different. There were a lot of things tormenting him, one being her age, that made him feel that he needed to let her mature and spread her wings. To discover who she was and what she wanted to be without him influencing her decisions. He could not have been more wrong. That move only cemented in her mind that feeling of unworthiness she carries. Kismet stripped to the bone, every insecurity and uncertainty Emberlee ever had. It took such an effort for her to express all the hurt, anguish and feeling invisible and inadequate. She knew she was risking losing the family of friends she had always had in her life, but she could not stop herself. She had this unstoppable drive to make things better, when in fact she was destroying everything. All she wanted was to feel love and feel like she mattered. All these emotions can only stay bottled up for so long before it all explodes. Unfortunately for Emberlee, to heal and rise to the top, first she will need to hit bottom. The road to her feeling whole will be a long and rugged one. Brody was there every step of the way, finally proving that he is serious when he says that he will never leave. Serious when he tells her he loves her. I was a total wreck reading Kismet. I knew from Book 1, that this was going to hurt, but I could not have prepared for how I connected to Emberlee. I laughed when she did, I cried when she did, I hurt when she did,I broke when she did. I healed when she did. No road to that elusive HEA is ever easy, with mistakes, hurt, anguish, and many bumps and bruises being gained along the way. That is what makes this book even more special. They are real, these characters. We get to see the raw and brutally difficult struggle to earn their place in the lives of their loved ones. We are witness to the mammoth task of expressing just how you are feeling and the long journey to healing and finding the place Emberlee was meant to be and accept the things she cannot change, and not take others actions upon herself. Thoughts are wild and praise is endless when it comes to Leigh Ann Lunsford. Kismet has a lote that will appeal to all. It is with so much more than the 5 star rating I am giving. I am sad it had to end. Emberlee and Brody’s story was by far the best one for me, because it was the most hard fought. Now I cannot wait for Mason to hand over his man card.
This story follows Emberlee & Brody. Brody Collier was everything Emberlee was trying to avoid, having the regimented Air Force lifestyle and the way his love made her weak, but he disappeared without saying good bye, discarding her in the end as through her choices didn’t matter…But was it for the best?
Emberlee appeared in Brody’s life totally unexpected, she was everything he wanted except at the wrong time in his life. He knew he needed to break her heart so that she could live her life the right way, but he always knew he would come back for her but proving to her that I want her is a greater feat than he expected.
But Emberlee blowing her life apart wasn’t intentional, her friends hate her, her father disappoints her and is never there. She is starting to give up fighting for things and Brody thought it was the perfect time to try and win her over. Or was his wrong?
Their struggles bring them together and neither of them have a choice.
This is the second book I have read by Leigh Ann Lunsford, and the second book in the Endgame Series and it’s an excellent addition to this series. I love this author’s writing as she writes it so that you connect you to characters in a way that their struggles feel like they become your own. You feel their every emotion from heartache to happiness and so on. You become so invested in these characters for many different reasons and along with the story line it makes this read impossible to put down! This book gives you laughter, angst, healing and most of all love.
I love that the other characters that we met in the first book are also included in this story and that their story line continues so you get to find out what happens with your favorite characters, also with the other characters still being involved in the story you can see other story lines develop that you want to find out more about in which will continue to make this an incredible series.
When we first meet Emberlee character in Playing Fate (Endgame 1) she doesn’t give off many good vibes, and then to top things off she is the one who creates the bad tension and relationship within the book but coming to this book I thought I’d give her character a chance and am I glad I did. I love how you see what she actually goes through, her vulnerability and it really gives you an insight of why she is like she is in book 1. You get to see her redeem herself and battle the demons even she didn’t know she had and I’m so glad we get to experience it with her. She becomes a strong female and I’m defiantly looking forward to read her story continue on.
Brody is another strong male character within this series and I think that is what is needed for Emberlee. Brody has determination and isn’t afraid to tell people what he thinks, and is fiercely protective of Emberlee throughout this book even though Emberlee is trying to fight it. I love how he holds his own with the lads in this group of friends and how quickly becomes part of this incredible group of people.
All of the dynamics with these characters are epic. The way that all these characters are as close as family and are there for each other through thick and thin. These characters show what true friendship is.
I cannot wait to hear more of Emberlee and Brody’s story throughout this series and I’ll be patiently awaiting book 3 in the Endgame Series.
Kismet is the second book in the Endgame series by Leigh Ann Lunsford. This is an erotic, sensual, heartfelt contemporary romance and a second chance at love, story. I adored Playing fate (Book One) and wasn’t sure how Ms. Lunsford could top it- well in true Leigh Ann Lunsford style, she has delivered one of her best books so far! Emberlee Winchester has been shielding her heart for three years, ever since it had been crushed by the man she had given herself to- body and soul. He had left without saying goodbye, or even so much as a thought or a backward glance. But sometimes there is more to a story than meets the eye. Brody Collier is 21 years old, an all-round good guy and an officer in the Air Force. He has been consumed by Emberlee since the moment he laid eyes on her. But pressing circumstances took him away from her three years ago and he has waited for the right time to come back and make her his again. There are secrets that are discovered, unforeseen situations that arise, troubles aplenty; and fate itself- that adds to the tension and struggles faced by Emberlee, Brody, and their group of friends. My goodness, I loved everything about this book!!!!! From the cover, then the beautiful dedication in the beginning, the unique storyline, all the wonderful characters- and the touching ending! Just Ah-maz-ing! Ms. Lunsford is known for her wonderful story telling expertise and her skill in evoking powerful emotional responses, with her writing. Kismet is testament to this talent, the emotional wave I got caught in was more like a tsunami that washed over me- leaving me giddy and breathless. And I wanted more. I couldn’t put it down, racing through this book in only a few hours- I was so immersed in it, almost like being in a sea of words- sailing on the crest of a huge wave, right through to the end. I was really quite happy hating Emberlee after reading Playing Fate; but after reading Kismet, not only do I find myself not hating her anymore, I understand her and truly like her. I was also really rooting for her to find the love and happiness she craved so much. Brody is just divine, who wouldn’t want to be wrapped up in his loving embrace? Swoon! I loved that Ms. Lunsford also included the group of friends from book one, in this book- it was great to discover what was happening in their lives, as well. The story flowed really well and has a fast pace. It is told from a duel P.O.V. It can be read as a standalone as it ends with a H.E.A. The next book in the series will be based on Mason, one of the friends from the group- and I am really excited to find out more about him and see what Ms. Lunsford has in store for us. Ms. Lunsford’s sexy books have become some of my guilty pleasures; so do yourself a real favour and get this book. If you haven’t read her work before, get Playing Fate and Kismet- and discover her work for yourself, you’ll soon understand what all the fuss is about! Be prepared to fall in love with her books!
