Eve Devon writes sexy heroes, sassy heroines & happy ever afters...

Growing up in locations like Botswana and Venezuela gave Eve Devon a taste for adventure; her love for romances began when her mother shoved one into her hands in a desperate attempt to keep her quiet during TV coverage of the Wimbledon tennis finals!

When Eve wasn't consuming books by the bucketload, she could be found pretending to be a damsel in distress or running around solving mysteries and writing down her adventures. As a teenager, Eve wrote countless episodes of TV detective dramas so the hero and heroine would end up together every week. As an adult, still hooked on romance and mysteries, she worked in a library to conveniently continue consuming books by the bucketload, until realizing she was destined to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense herself.

Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins uk, Harper impulse and Eve Devon for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance reader copy of this book.

You can find my review on both Goodreads and Amazon. On goodreads.com/karenwhittard and on Amazon under k.e.whittard from publication date.

There is a problem with this book that you cannot read the postcards as they are far too small. Some of the sentences after it mean that you need to be able to read the postcards so it doesn't flow that easily. But I have contacted the publisher and let them know about this. So hopefully it will be fixed soon. That said thou, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

It is filled with beautiful places, stunning English countryside, friendship, love, family, secrets, and romance. It is a book about chasing your dreams and making them a reality.

I am really happy that this book is a series as I can't wait to see where it will take us. It really was a lovely read.

Welcome to Whisper woods, a cosy little village in the English country. Where everyone knows each other and everyone's business.

When a rival village wins Best in Bloom. All gloves are out to restore Wispet Woods to its former glory.

When Kate is told that Old Man Isaac is selling the clock house. At first all she wants to do is ignore it. There are far too many painful memories for Katie to even contemplate buying the clock house. But it has always been a dream of Katie's to own it. Can Katie make hers and her sisters dreams come true?

The only prom men is that there is another potential buyer. Daniel Westlake. They must go head to head raising money for the summer fate in order to try and win the clock house for themselves. But is there more than rivalry between these two?

This is a really good book and I throughly enjoyed reading it. Perfect for fans for chicklit and romance. Or people who like books about villiage life and community spirit.

Let me know what you think about it all in the comments

Happy reading everyone

4.5 stars.....
The little clockhouse on the Green is a charming feel good book with humour and determination and community spirit.

The story starts with Kate.
Kate is abroad working as a reviewer at holiday resorts.
But she gets several postcards from her cousin to tell her the Clockhouse is up for sale.
Kate hasn't been home in several years since her sister passed away.
But hearing this news she feels a strong urge/ pull to bring her back home.

We soon learn that it was her Sisters dream to turn the Clockhouse into a spa and hearing that the Clockhouse is up for sale is making Kate's decision to return home and put in an offer much stronger.

However things are not going to be easy for Kate when the mysterious Daniel is also interested and decides to put in an offer.

Daniel is not from the area.
It's fate that lands him in the village when he has car trouble.
He's a shrewd business man and sees huge potential in the Clockhouse and the enchanting Whispers Wood falling for it's charm he can't resist sticking around.

Coming back home to Whisper Woods is really not easy for Kate as it triggers some really emotional and painful memories for her, she also has a very difficult relationship with her mother since  her sister passed away.
She run away from her emotions leaving behind alot of people who she is dreading seeing again, like her brother-in-law who is angry and upset Kate run away.

Kate is determined to do the right thing by her sister and open up the spa.

However Old Man Isaac who owns the Clockhouse isn't about to let it go without a fight to make sure it really does end up in the best hands.
He sets Kate and Daniel a challenge to see who can raise the most money for the Summer Fete. The challange brings along  some funny and at times unpredictable moments along the way!

It's so nice to see the community come together and help each other. It brings out the spirit and love for Whisper Woods and the Clockhouse.

Kate and Daniel are rivals but is there more to the rivalry. Is there some underlying chemistry bubbling away?

This book is enchantingly charming.
The characters are all so enchanting and each one is so well developed, you can tell Eve put a lot of time and research into her characters.
I loved Kate she made me laugh from the very first chapters where she tipped the bottle of water over her virtually see through top.  I knew from that moment I was going to love her.

There is many laugh out loud moments, emotional and heart felt moments but the determination and spirit of Kate, her friends and the community just oozes charm.
I loved it!
Can't wait for the next instalment.

I received this book from the Publisher in exchange for a honest and fair review via Netgalley.

In a charming West Sussex village setting, of Whispers Wood there is a clock house. For Kate is a long held dream of hers to open up day spa in that very building. For Daniel he has chanced upon the clock house and come up with a business idea himself.

They both want to own the Clock House on the Green which has come up for sale. Kate hasn't lived in Whispers Wood for four years, she left with good reasons but now it seems like it could be a good time for her to return and mend some bridges, if only everyone could believe she won't run again. Daniel on the other hand only discovered the village when his car broke down, and then it was clear he only discovered the clock house when he spotted Kate going into it, and clearly let his heart rule the rest of his decisions!

However the current owner of the Clock House wants them to prove themselves to the village and the one that raises the most funds for the Summer Fete will be the new owner. Which is where the book starts to get really fun!

I loved a lot of the various fund raising ideas, that were come up with by both Kate and Daniel, as well as the fact they seemed to be unsteady on their feet around each other, leading to some amusing situations.

It was Kate's story that intrigued me the most, especially the reasons she has for being nervous at returning home, and how her family react around her. It is poignant, but also shows enormous personal growth as she settles back into life in the village.

I also loved the storyline between Oscar and Juliet, and was really rooting for the right outcome there.

The Little Clock House on the Green is an entertaining story, in a charming setting, full of great characters, easy to read writing, amusing incidents and the promises of a couple of big romances. It is an enjoyable book and one that I am already looking forward to the Christmas sequel of, as I would love to see more of the residents of Whispers Wood.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Impulse for this copy of the book that I have reviewed voluntarily and honestly.

This book was excellent and very well written with excellent characters and very true to life. I just wanted to keep reading more to find out what happened. Kate moves back to her home village after running away for years. She gets a postcard saying old man Isaac is selling the clock house and she had wanted to buy this. The clock house has many memories for her can she get what she wants or a man called Daniel does he try to take it from her who will win and what will happen. Well worth reading.

How STUNNING is that book cover?! I couldn't wait to see what treats were in store for me; I was SO excited to get stuck in. And, you know what? The entire storyline did not disappoint AT ALL. From the first chapter, The Little Clock House had some sort of magical hold over me, it was as though I had climbed up to the top of The Magic Faraway Tree into the land of written tranquillity.
In this story we have two main characters lives to follow (not stalk fyi); Daniel's and Kate's. Daniel found himself in Whispers Wood by chance thanks to an iffy car and driving without a map and now he's in the village, one or two things may have caught his eye to warrant becoming a permanent fixture in the village. Then there is Kate, she's back in the village after spending a little while (several years in fact) clearing her head from circumstances she would love to forget. However, being back in the village is a tad bittersweet and she wonders whether she has made the wrong decision by coming back.
I need to be so careful with this review as a lot of the main events in the storyline are linked with certain emotions and situations, and I need to ensure I don't drop myself in it whilst I write. If I end up being too vague, the best option for you is to go and buy the book so that you can get the answers! I know, fab idea, right?
'What the hell made Kate run away? What was so bad that she had to up sticks and leave?', were two of the questions that I asked myself multiple times whilst reading a fair chunk of this book. There were a lot of raw emotions and rather vague conversations to keep me pondering Kate's reasons for going, but I didn't want to read between the lines and delve deeper before the storyline got there, as it was such an enchanting read. You really do need to let the storyline do the talking. Let the characters develop before your very eyes and follow the paths that they choose to walk down.
The storyline had so much going for it! Not once did I find myself at a loose end, wondering when the storyline was going to pick up again as the storyline was ALWAYS on a constant rise. There was drama between characters, drama between old lifestyles and new lifestyles, drama between old memories and new memories; how COULD I be bored when there was always something to keep me interested. Don't get me wrong, there were a couple of times when I may have read a chapter and suddenly had 'something in my eye', or situations became a lot grittier than before. But that wasn't a bad thing at all, it wasn't all dancing around the clock house at your leisure and I really enjoyed the diversity. I ended up laughing out loud multiple times too!
There is a lot to Eve Devon's novel that meets the eye; a treasure chest of literary beauty if you will. I adored this novel from start to finish, not only did the book flow extremely well, it really did have everything that I could ever have wanted from a book.
'The Little Clock House on the Green' was beautifully written, full of raw and powerful emotion and housed in-depth and charismatic characters, each with very unique personalities. Not only that it was the proud owner of poignant and thought-provoking messages that are likely to stay in your heart long after you finish reading. To say I was gutted when I came to the end of the book would be understatement of the year. I am just so thankful that this was book one and we have more to come. If the next book in the series is anything like this then we are in for an absolutely treat and I cannot wait.
Huge thanks to HarperImpulse.

The book is about Kate, who fled from her home in the little village of Whispers Wood after the death of her sister Bea.
Now though, an old building in the village, which holds a lot of memories for Kate is up for sale and she is determined to buy it and open a spa in it and make her and her sister's dream come true. But back in the village, she finds another person wanting to buy The Clock House as well, and so the competition begins...

Well, that was a very nice story. I liked Kate and her family and all the other people in the village. Her love interest was lovely as well.

I was a tiny bit annoyed by Kate's cousin Juliet, though. She just wasn't able to get her love life in order. And in addition, I was not fond of that love life at all. Because it involves a widower (spoil, spoil) and I do not approve of widowers falling back in love. But that's a different story.

Other than that, I really, really liked the story! Oh what I wouldn't give for a village like that... ♥

I choose not to say anything about the spelling mistakes or the commas that shouldn't be where they are.

All in all, 4.5 stars from me!

I love, love, loved this book!

If Enid Blyton switched to the adult genre and wrote in 2017 - you'd get the gorgeous setting of Whispers Wood. It's quaint, pretty and everybody in the village knows what each other ate for their breakfast. And who with. So it took a tragic circumstance for Kate Somersby to leave her home, her friends and her family. But when she discovers that the clock house on the village green is up for sale, it tugs on her heart strings and leads her back to home.

Daniel Westlake discovers Whispers Wood entirely by accident and is instantly charmed by the village and a potential business opportunity. But it seems he's not the only one. It's seems the for sale board has a challenge attached. One of those challenges being villager Kate. She's not about to give up her dream. Though she might be a villager, her return hasn't been so easy having left her family behind with their grief. But how could kate have stayed when she was the painful reminder? Daniel and Kate both have a lot to prove in order to win the competition - and they're not about to give up easily.

The challenge is to bring the village back. The sense of community that it was known and loved for. So with Kate and Daniel as rivals they have to pull out the stops to win, roping in friends to do so. Except Daniel doesn't have friends, so he gets the support of Kate's ex brother-in-law, who is still hurt and angry that Kate left. And with Kate having her best friend as her help it gets even trickier. Kate can't give up, not when the clock house means so much to her, so she has to ignore her growing feelings for Daniel. But how long will that last.

There is not just one blossoming romance in this book but two. Kate and Daniel are both well developed characters, but the secondary characters are individual, strong and well developed too, in a love them or hate them way. I mostly loved them all.

I might have compared the setting to an Enid Blyton one of old, however author Eve Devon owns it. The setting is perfect, the characters interesting and Eve Devon has made it fresh and so much fun, despite the sad circumstances of the plot. This book is so, so good! So feel good, humorous and warm. I loathe spoilers so I won't share the funnies :-) The author writes with wit and love and you can feel that. This is my favourite book by Eve Devon and despite it only being March, The Little Clock House on the Green is already a definite contender for my favourite book of 2017! Can't wait for the next book in the series!

This book made my heart happy! Superb!

Firstly what a stunning cover to this book! It caught my eye straight away and immediately I knew I had to read this and oh boy it is fantastic.

The little clock house on the green is set in a beautiful village whisper wood. After many years it is finally up for sale.

Two potential buyers, one has had her heart set on it for years and the other a passing business man who decides to settle in the village. They both battle it out to win the Clock house.

It is very unpredictable as you are never quite sure what way itl go and who will be rhe sucessful buyer and thats what I loved about this book, I was guessing right up until the last chapter.

There is a lot of heartbreak in this but we learn that with sadness comes great happiness and you can go on and get through terrible times and move on with life as hard as it may be.

I was simply gutted when I got to the end of the book, I didn't want it to end. Then i found out there would be a second book in the series which im over the moon about and can't wait for the opening of the clock house in the next book and to see how the characters are getting on.

This was my first Eve Devon book and I am very impressed. From the opening chapter I was gripped and found Eve has a wonderful talent of telling a beautiful story, one you just cant put down. Im looking forward to reading more by her.

A fabulous 5 stars!

I liked this book from the beginning, which is quite rare as it usually takes some time to really get into the story.

It's written from various different points of view. Sometimes I wasn't sure if that were too many perspectives, but overall I think it was alright this way. Especially as they were all really lovely.

What's even better is that the story remained enjoyable (and not too straightforward) for the whole time. Wonderful.

What a welcome to the world of Whisper Woods! A beautiful village in the english countryside where the community pulls together in times of need, and seems to know what everyone else is up to - whether good or bad!

Kate has left the village 4 years earlier after tragedy struck but she is lured back when she hears that the Old Clock House is up for sale. It has always been a dream of her sisters to open a business there - can Kate make this a reality or is she still not ready to return home?

Daniel is at the point where he's wondering what obstacle he will face next in his life. And while out driving his beloved car, Monroe, breaks down, just outside of Whisper Woods and is immediately struck by how at home he feels there. The opportunity to restart his life, and start up a new business is proving to be very exciting for him and where better than the Old Clock House!

Isaac who is selling The Clock House, then comes up with a very odd plan for Daniel and Kate to help the village get its' mojo back by raising funds for the local fete, and whoever wins the battle will win the right to buy The Clock House!

This sets in motion some fun and games for Daniel and Kate as they compete against each other, with the help of family and friends, and also reopens some old wounds that are still very raw and difficult to get over.

I loved the characters in this charming story and really enjoyed the different perspectives that the story is told in. And was very pleased to see that there will be another in the series so looking forward to seeing how the characters all get on after this fabulous introduction!

I got a lovely cosy feeling reading this - funny and touching in equal measures

Thankyou to NetGalley and the publishers Harper Impulse for the copy!

Kate worked as a travel writer for years, but she's finally back in her hometown Whispers Wood and this time she wants to stay. She'd like to start a business in The Clock House. The current owner, Old Man Isaac, is selling his home, because he's too old to keep living in it and there are no heirs. Kate wants to make an offer, so she can start working on what she's always dreamed of together with her cousin Juliet. However, there's someone else who wants The Clock House as well.

Daniel is new in Whispers Wood. He stumbles upon the village by accident and never wants to leave again. When he sees The Clock House he knows it's the perfect location for the business he has in mind. It would mean a fresh start for him, so he decides to make an offer. Old Man Isaac has to choose between Daniel and Kate, but before he'll make his decision he has a challenge for them. Who will be allowed to buy the house?

The Little Clock House on the Green is a wonderful romantic story. Kate is a sweet and generous person. She's been through a lot and grief has been her constant companion for a long time. Being back in Whispers Wood is confronting, but also healing. Kate can finally start the next chapter of her life, which begins with a battle between her and Daniel. They're evenly matched and it was fun to read about their schemes and ideas. There are also plenty of sparks between them and I couldn't wait to find out if their desire to buy the same building would come between them or if love would be victorious instead.

Daniel has a great sense of humor and he's a kind and chivalrous man. He's been hurt by several people who used to be close to him and hopes he's finally found the place where he belongs. Whispers Wood is hospitable and everyone welcomes him with open arms. For me that was one of the most amazing parts of the book. His battle with Kate isn't only taking place on a business level, there's so much more at stake. I loved the combination of creative entrepreneurship and deep emotions. The Little Clock House on the Green has plenty of fascinating elements and Kate and Daniel are two terrific main characters. They have charisma, determination, spunk and guts and that makes the story enchanting and entertaining.

Whispers Wood is a fantastic setting. Eve Devon's vivid descriptions of the village itself and the, sometimes eccentric, inhabitants are making it come to life very well. Whispers Green is a beautiful location and it's perfect for a story about family, friendship and love. The sense of community is heartwarming and it kept putting a smile on my face. I absolutely loved this delightful story. It's charming, lively, moving and endearing and I really enjoyed reading it.

Well, this book not only cought my attention by the gorgeously colourful cover but also the clever reference to Gilmore Girls famous serial! I am a big Gilmore Girls fan, so naturally, I have to sample this book and hopefully the whole series eventually!

So The Little Clock House on the Green was my weekend book pick. I couldn't wait to immerse myself in Whispers Wood glory!

And when I came out for my breath I realised I had found another amazing author and my favourite book of this year so far! There had been such a fantastic publicity on social media surrounding the release of this book, and because I haven't previously read anything by Eve Devon I was very curious to read The Little Clock House on the Green and oh boy I am so glad I did!

I loved, loved, loved this story! When I finished the last page, I was left with a huge grin and happy reading Feeling ( you know the feeling when you are a bookworm!). The theme of this book has a slight feel of Gilmore Girls to it, but it is also sparkly, sizzling, emotive, captivating and utterly delicious all of its own and thanks to Eve Devon's fantastic writing style I was in for an amazing reading ride!

Kate Somersby runs away from the place that made her happy, but after a shocking accident, she felt like she needed to protect not only herself but also her beloved family. But as the years gone by Kate was missing her birthplace and when her cousin Juliet started to send her postcard with a lot of reference to the place that Kate hold dear in her heart. There was no stopping Kate to go back and mend some broken bridges.
As well as Kate, Daniel has decided to put his roots done in Whispers Wood. The village that stole his heart and made him feel confident about future again.

I absolutely adored Whispers Wood and its residents. This story is not only about Kate and Daniel it is a story about the whole community. I loved every single character in this book, and it was actually hard to leave them behind after I reach the end of the story ( but luckily I will have to wait only till the author when I am treated to another book in this series)!

The centre of the storyline is The Little Clock House on the Green that has been in Isaac family for generation. So when Old Man Isaac decides to sell it, and not one but two interested buyers appear on the scene, Old Man Isaac has a great idea that will not only boost the falling spirit of Whisper Woods but will also bring the whole community much needed fresh start.

Eve Devon managed to build a very refreshing and engaging storyline! The dialogues between the characters are fast paced, sparkly and witty. The setting of the book is picturesque and idyllic. There is plenty of romance in the air, and the whole feel of this book heighten the strong sense of belonging and new happy beginnings beautifully. Just a magical read!

THE LITTLE CLOCK HOUSE ON THE GREEN by Eve Devon is a thoroughly entertaining and captivating tale of love, family, and new beginnings. Kate Somersby ran away from her family and the community of Whispers Wood four years ago and has never really looked back. But when she hears that the clock house on the green is actually for sale, her old dreams that she had shared with her beloved sister, refuse to be silenced and Kate finds herself homeward bound. At the same time a stranger, Daniel Westlake, is looking for a fresh start for himself, and when he finds himself unexpectedly stranded in Whispers Wood, he spots a fabulous business opportunity with the clock house that is for sale. With two stubborn and determined people vying for the same property, the village splits into sides as Kate and Daniel battle it out to raise funds for the Summer Fete, and the winner gets the clock house. But who will win, and what crazy shenanigans will occur in the process? And is it possible for this delightful community to come together and heal those who need it most?

THE LITTLE CLOCK HOUSE ON THE GREEN by Eve Devon is brimming with well-developed characters, a stunning village setting, and has plenty of laughs along the way to make this a truly enchanting read. An excellent start to what is sure to be a delightful series.

When Kate's sister died she ran away from Whispers Wood and hasn't been back since - she can't face her mother and brother-in-law - but when she hears that the Clock House is up for sale she knows it is time to return. It was her sisters dream to set up business in the Clock House and she feels that she must take over that dream in her memory.

Daniel is out driving when his car breaks down by Whispers Wood and he has to get help but why does he feel so drawn to this place as though he belongs there. Seeing that the Clock House is up for sale he decides to put in a bid for it.

With two people desperate to buy it the owner Isaac decides to pit them against each other and decides that whoever makes the most money for the summer fete will be the winner - so will they be deadly enemies or will there be an attraction there!

A lovely book with some lovely characters and great humorous scenes - living in a village I always enjoy books including village communities and can't wait for the next installment

I picked it up for the adorable cover. I stayed for the romantic comedy full of quirky characters and set in the quaint English village. I loved it for making me believe there is hope and happiness on the other side of grief and for giving me a quaint English village to escape the reality of now. I am looking forward to reading the next book which takes place in the village of Whispers Wood during the holiday season. For once I am timing it perfectly to get into the Christmas spirit.

The Little Clock House On The Green is a standalone novel with a heat level of “sweet” meaning that no sex happens 'on screen' – there is barely any kissing that happens. There is some some minor cursing, and one f-bomb toward the end.

This book was the first that I have read by this author, and it was seriously adorable. The small village setting is wonderful, the competition between Kate and Daniel is hysterical, and the secondary characters are great. At first, I wondered if the stories of the side characters would take away from the Kate/Daniel story line but it was just the opposite, they absolutely enhanced it.

The plot of having to throw a 'fete' for the village and having a contest to see who will be allowed to buy the little clock house should have been ridiculous, but it really was not. It was absolutely adorable. The different ideas that Kate and Daniel came up with to fund-raise and for the 'fete' were great, and I loved how they dealt with the things that came up between them.

There were moments in this book that made me laugh, but I'm not sure any were better than – without being too specific - Kate in the back yard. I am glad I was alone while reading that scene because that made me laugh out loud.

My only two minor “issues” with this book were that the postcards were teeny tiny and impossible to read. I zoomed in on my Kindle, but they were still really fuzzy, which is too bad because they're important to the book. The other issue was probably more about me than anything, but it seemed like every other page there was a pop-culture reference that I didn't get. At first I Googled all of the things I didn't understand, but eventually it got to be too much time spent switching between the book and the web browser, so I just ignored them unless they were important to the plot. Crispin nailed it on the head when he said, “You know, sometimes I genuinely have no idea what you're talking about.”

If you're looking for a fun, sweet read about extremely likable main (and side) characters, and a sweet little village, you should give this one a read – you won't be sorry.

I was very graciously gifted a copy of this book and was under no obligation to write a positive review, I did so because the book was a great read.

The name is a bit long but the story is amazing you are sucked into not one romance, but 2 romances and a crazy town of activity. Each of the characters is lively in their own way and the town is hysterical. The compensation to win is intense with lots of build up to the finish. The build up of both relationships keeps you turning the page and maybe yelling "you wanna kiss the girl" a few times. The base of the story is about anticipation and it does not disappoint.

The story is likened to the tv show Gilmore Girls and I can see that, but it has its own set of class and crazy lingo. Drama and heartache. Very well done !

Yes, it contains some laughing moments but it really didn't fit my type of favorite type of romcoms: too sweet and lacking fun scenes between the couple even though the author literally has all the tools to write that angst because of the rivalry plot.

Grief is such a personal thing and yet we are often expected to behave in a certain way when we lose someone close to us.Kate ran away from those who loved her, to preserve her sanity but also to spare them from the constant reminder of what they had lost. Now something is calling her home and the clock is ticking, Can she succeed where she has failed previously and fight the ghosts that have kept her away so long?

The clock house is a poignant building for the village of Whispers Wood, it embodies their community but will they accept it has to change to keep the village's spirit alive?

Daniel is looking for a new start, he hopes to be the phoenix that rises from the ashes of his former life, but he is keeping secrets and these may threaten not only his new start but his chance of happiness.

This isn't just another story about a beautiful English village with a set of quintessential, quirky characters, although it is both of these. It also shows that there is always hope in adversity and sometimes you have to confront what you fear most to move on with your life.

Kate is a strong woman, with a delightful sense of humour and this colours her story as she returns to Whispers Wood to live a dream that she once shared with the one person who understood her best. Daniel stands in her way but the current owner of the clock house devises a plan to find the best owner for his beloved house, which leads to fun and mayhem for the villagers of Whispers Wood.

The characters are amazing and the story easy to read, Romance, tears and lots of giggles make this a beautiful beginning to what promises to be a fabulous series.

Kate Somersby is back home in Whispers Wood, after running away for years. The Clockhouse on the Green holds a lot of memories for her, so she makes an offer on the house. However, she is not the only one, Daniel Westlake, an entrepreneur, wants it too. So that’s where their competition starts. The current owner wants them to raise funds for the Summer Fete.

Daniel is not connected to Whispers Wood, he just landed there after his car broke down and he spotted Kate going into the clock house, so he got curious.

Their ideas ideas to raise funds are fun, creative and fabulous to read about. They build a lot of excitement for the storyline and the characters can interact in several ways. Of course there are not only Kate and Daniel. There is Kate’s family, Oscar (her brother-in-law) and Juliet. Oscar and Juliet had their own story to tell, which wad fab. Most of the time it was Kate or Daniel narrating a chapter, but Juliet and Oscar got their turn as well. Sometimes, that was a but too much change for me, but I still enjoyed reading about Oscar and Juliet as well and I really liked them and their story.

Kate’s past plays an important role in this book too, which adds some intrigue and another level of interest.

Organising events and competing against each other also meant that Kate and Daniel had to spend time together. These were my favourite scenes by far, because I really liked them together, I just adored their chemistry and loved seeing their relationship develop.

It took me a while to get into the story, but then I got hooked and really fell in love with it. It’s a charming story, with a vivid style of writing and full of warmth and love.

New author for me and I'm so pleased I picked this off the library shelf. A joy to read had me laughing out loud in some places. Lovely characters and village settings. Lots of layers, well written easy to follow. A understanding of human nature emotions that sends you off in a tail spin or 2+2=5. The doubts we have about are selves and flawes we see. Look forward to reading another by this author

What a book! Iv had this book for ages but never got round to reading it and I don’t know why! Absolutely loves it and can’t wait for the next in the series, but please keep it about the same 4 main characters. ❤️

I found this book difficult to get into. There was too much dialogue for me, and at times I was a bit lost as to what was happening. But about half way through I got into the story and the characters. It was worth staying with.
