Being an Evernote Community Leader, I am a massive fan of Evernote. I’ve used it every day for years, so I was intrigued by this book. However, I ended up skimming through it as it was so dull. Ok, using tables linked to your notes IS a good idea, but it doesn’t warrant a whole book (and website). A blog post would have done. That said, if you’re fairly new to Evernote you will pick up some good tips in this book.
Any book about Evernote that isn't written because the author wants to sell a book, there isn't much else to know once the system is "mastered".
Having learned Evernote fro "The Secret Weapon Manifesto", available gratis as a pdf download at thesecretweapon.org. The approach is around not just archiving, but a strong GTD mentality.
After organizing myself around the Secret Weapon, I discovered Brett Kelly's "Evernote Essentials". Making a purchase of this publication also provided a subscription with Brett Kelly Media, Inc., for updates and regular conversation about the Evernote product.
This is a good reference of how to do thing in Evernote. The Master Note system is pretty basic, but she gives some great ideas on how to use it and how to make it look good.
I tried to read this on my Kindle, but the graphics are not readable. So, I would suggest that you read it on your computer. Open up both the kindle cloud reader and Evernote and treat the book like a workbook. That way you can try things as you go and you will be more likely to remember them.
When implemented, I think this system has potential. I definitely learned a few things, and hope to make use of at least some of it. Like a lot of things in Evernote, I suspect that once you really use it - a lot - and get comfortable with it, it will be easy, fast, and helpful. But you have to get to that point.
Finally, someone has written a book that explains this Evernote thing in a way that is easily understood.
I thought I was pretty well organized until I read The Master Note System: A New Way to use Evernote to Organize Your Life. That’s when I realized there was a much better way to organize my files, notes, my life and have everything in one place.
Marjory Harris has written a practical, step-by-step guide for using Evernote. This book is a nice resource for anyone who wants to get organized or anyone who wants to better organize their current procedures.
I'd never heard about this system until a couple of weeks ago. And it sounded almost daunting to me. That was until I read this book and actually understood it. The author did a great job at taking something complex and breaking it down into bite-sized chunks. Even I got it!
Don't let the paper clutter run you over anymore. Read the book, clear your desk and your head.
I like seeing g how others use Evernote. This book has good ideas on how to use Evernote for everyday type things. My only suggestion is for the author to create a shared Evernote notebook with the templates she's made and send her readers there; instead of sending readers to a PDF file that links to word documents.
This was a reread. While reading, I started using her method, but modifying it for my needs. Still more work to do with my Evernote account, but it's so much more organized and I can find things.
