Strange how some books stick with you long after you read them. I read this as a teenager on my bus rides home from school... twice!
Almost thirty years later certain parts stick in my memory like when someone from the treasury department ordered Joseph to stop bending coins with his teeth or when as an old man he beats up a bunch of street thugs with his bare hands (and a cane maybe?).
It's a true American story, a man starting from poverty working hard and enduring physical pain all in service of his desire for success.
