Es preciso haber leído esta recopilación, para observar que a través de todas sus páginas prosigue un solo deba­te, siempre el mismo, ya que, como debe hacerse evidente, es distintivo por ser el debate de las luces. Pues es un dominio en el que la misma aurora se hace esperar: aquel que va de un prejuicio del que la psicopatología no puede desembarazarse a la falsa evidencia de la que el yo se vale para pavonearse de la existencia. La oscuri­dad pretende ser su objeto y florece del oscurantismo que ahí reencuentra sus valores. No debe causar sorpresa, pues, que en esa oscuridad se haga resistencia al descu­brimiento de Freud, descubrimiento que es el fin último de Jacques Lacan. El lector tomará lo que aquí se demues­tra: el inconsciente relevo de lo lógico puro por otro nom­bre, significante. En este sentido la epistemología habrá de fallar si no parte de una reforma que subvierta al suje­to. Su advenimiento solo puede producirse realmente y en un lugar que ahora pertenece a los psicoanalistas. Trans­cribir esta subversión, desde lo más cotidiano de su expe­riencia, es la tarea de Jacques Lacan desde hace quin­ce años.

Jacques-Marie-Émile Lacan was a French psychoanalyst, psychiatrist, and doctor, who made prominent contributions to the psychoanalytic movement. His yearly seminars, conducted in Paris from 1953 until his death in 1981, were a major influence in the French intellectual milieu of the 1960s and 1970s, particularly among post-structuralist thinkers.

Lacan's ideas centered on Freudian concepts such as the unconscious, the castration complex, the ego, focusing on identifications, and the centrality of language to subjectivity. His work was interdisciplinary, drawing on linguistics, philosophy, mathematics, amongst others. Although a controversial and divisive figure, Lacan is widely read in critical theory, literary studies, and twentieth-century French philosophy, as well as in the living practice of clinical psychoanalysis.
