Fantasy is my favorite genre, and I went into this series really wanting to like it. I am the type of person that will give a book every chance I possibly can. I will read it all the way to the end, even if something in the beginning doesn't make sense. The premise of this series is really thought out and original. Done differently this could have been one of the greats. However, these were ridiculous. The story starts off alright. Skyla's mother gets remarried, and the whole big family moves to an island. She hates her step-dad, and her new step siblings are a pain. So far, so good. From there, it just gets worse and worse.
The entire series started to become a revenge read. I wanted to see just how ridiculous it could get. And it definitely didn't disappoint on that score. I don't know that these are really the right words to express my disappointment in this series, but hopefully I did it justice.
I reviewed books from later in the series. This series started out with SO much promise, but ultimately, I couldn't finish it. I read up until the 5th or 6th in the series and it was lather, rinse, repeat. Skyla torn between three and one was just super creepy being he was her teacher. I WANTED these books to get better, but as I said before, they fell flat. Skyla also had so much potential, but as the series continued, she never really developed into the badass that she COULD have been. I'm so disappointed.
Celestra is a series of young adult novels about the life of 16-year old Skyla Messenger. Skyla’s life suddenly changes when she moves to a small island town. When she falls for two irresistible boys who also happen to be cousins, things get really interesting.
In this series, the author leaves mysteries that need to be explored throughout each book. There is a genuine appeal and novelty to the myth in the series that finds ways to distinguish itself from other series in a similar vein.
I found the mythology behind this paranormal book to be very interesting and intriguing. The underlying idea is that there are different factions of angels that have different abilities. The concept is that there is a certain faction that cannot be allowed to be together because they will produce strong offspring and will throw off the order and balance of things. This is quite different from most of the angel mythology and other books based on angels. The human aspect has probably intrigued me the most throughout the series.
The characters are really what keeps the story moving and interesting. The series starts off by establishing vivid characters, and snappy descriptions that keeps the readers attention and makes the series a page turner. The tragedy Skyla dealt with left her defiant and sarcastic in ways to cope with her unhappiness, but Skyla didn't strike me as your typical teenage girl. Instead, she shared her frustration and respect throughout the books towards various situations. Throughout the series she has multiple men throwing themselves at her. So who will she choose .... Gage, Logan, or Marshall?
Gage: I have to say I have been a Gage fan since book one! At first their relationship is fake to make everyone believe she is no longer with Logan, but as the story goes, she starts to fall for Gage ... harder and harder. Throughout the series, you see many different stages of Gage, from him blowing Skyla off to talking with her worst enemy, Chloe. After reading the series, I wasn't as much of a Gage fan as I was in the beginning.
Logan: In the beginning, Logan is somewhat selfish and striked me as the person who would never fully grasp putting anyone else first before him. As you read the books and learn more about Logan's history, it makes sense as to why he seemed like that in the beginning. By the end of the series, I was 50% for Logan and the other 50% for Gage. Logan changes and would do anything he could for Skyla. When you read the series, you will see what I mean.
Marshall: Skyla always runs to Marshall when she has a problem and he is always there to help her even with his sadistic and annoying remarks. She can always count on him. Their relationship is somewhat like a love - hate relationship, but in the end of the series, I truly feel like she really cares for Marshall and would be with him fully if there wasn't Gage or Logan in the picture.
Rating: 5/5 Addison Moore does an incredible job of making the world of angels seem possible and developed a set of characters people can relate to. I really enjoyed how the author kept my intrigued and interested throughout the series. Normally I would be wry of a long series, but I am so happy I chose to read this one!
Overall: 4 stars Ethereal (Celestra Series Book 1): 4 stars Tremble (Celestra Series Book 2): 4 stars Burn (Celestra Series Book 3): 4 stars
Through this set, Skyla learns about the Nephilim factions. She also discovers she's a member of the faction known as Celestra with time traveling and touch mind reader abilities. A love triangle develops around her with the cousins Logan and Gage. Also, she grows a hatred for the Countenance faction.
This set falls into two Teen & Young Adult genres: Time Travel and Paranormal & Urban Fantasy. So far, it's an outstanding series. Now, it's time to move on to the next title.
I was going to give this 3 stars because the main character is not that great at times, seems shallow, is told she is from Angel blood yet does not seem to phase her, is supposedly virginal but does not act like one at all and for being the supposedly the most powerful, I have yet to see it. There is no clear explanation of the different factions. I gave it 4 stars because the story itself is unique, love other stories by this writer, the mystery of not knowing is good, the twist and surprises are excellent and these qualities keep you wanting to know more and what is next. The ending blew my mind so I shall continue this series.
Sometimes I just like a good teen paranormal fiction. The Celestra books fit that bill completely. I really enjoyed them. They are a quick and easy read.
Skyla and her family move to paragon where things in her life change very rapidly. She meets her neighbor brielle and quickly became friends. Brielle introduces her to Logan and gage who immediatelybecome entranced with the new girl. Skyla is taken with Logan who she later finds out has the same gift/curse that she has. Finding out later that she is a nephilem which has five different factions. Being involved with Logan quickly becomes dangerous and he calls things off in public telling her it would be better for both of them is she started seeing gage. It quickly becomes more than just show for them as she falls in love with him. Everything becomes more complicated as the events unravel. She goes back in time trying to save her father only to find out the person she goes to for help had a hand in his death. She returned to the past to change things only to find out on her birthday that she didn't change anything Chloe is back and this changes everything. I am unsure how to react to the events that happened in these three novels. I couldn't put the book down and now I am left wondering what happens next.
Celestra books 1-3 are really intense to read. you have the main character 'Skyla' who ends up moving down to a small island from LA. when she gets there she meets Brielle who is her next door neighbor,Logan and Gage Oliver, who are cousins, who own the bowling ally. threw the books you learn that she is a Celestra, part angel. there are 5 groups of different people. i cant remember them from heart though, but they all connect somehow and they make the book better with all there parts. These 3 books are very adventurous. some parts are very sad and upseting. but i enjoyed these 3 books and i will contiune with this series.. there is alot more adventure to be had with them.
One of my all-time favorite series.. Addison Moore is a force to be reckoned with for sure, and pulls all the punches until you're gasping for air... I loved the Alice in wonderland type angel storyline. Right away I was pulled into Paragon and haven't stopped to come up for air until I'd finished ALL of them. I never want to LEAVE! A twisted/ heartbreaking/thrill ride of epic proportions...Be warned. You'll never be able to put them down once you start . Just buy the whole series now! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M32DR6D?...
I can accept a series with cliff-hangers but this series so far has dumped a lot of seemingly important bits, that never are addressed again, unless Skyla is just a complete idiot, so many questions that she should of asked, I did like the twists and turns of the plot, but it could be so much better, I hope for others that the series ties up all the loose ends in the continuing books, I feel I have invested enough at this point,
Sept 17, Not finishing this. No. These characters are too deplorable, I don't care about any of them, and honestly I want that whole town to just explode because they are just awful. I know it is fantasy, but at least make some of the fantasy bull believable. I am done with this piece of crap. And really, digging up a corpse to give her a new arm. Really? Save yourself the trouble and don't read this garbage.
this book is amazing, awesome,. I could go on but you should start this series for yourself. I can't wait to continue on with the next one. just when you think all is well, bam she hits you with another twist. I'd totally recommend this book to anyone young or old. it'll reel you in and keep you hooked. happy reading.
I really wanted to like this series, unfortunately I did not. the characters were unbelievable & to blase about serious situations. I barely finished the first three books, but they came together so I did. unfortunately, I won't be reading the remainder of the series having no interest in the rest if the story despite the fact book 3 ends with a nice cliffhanger...
The more I read this series, the more I'm glad that I've chosen to read on. The characters really begin to become familiar, the world of counts and celestras more vivid, and the suspense and love twist really ignite! I'm definitely going to continue on with this series. Especially since book 3 leaves such a grand cliff hanger! =)
When I first started reading this series I didn't think I was going to like it. I felt the author was trying so hard and was using word that I found unnecessary. BUT I stuck with it was I glad I did. I didn't know what expect, but it was a well written book full of surprises and love and action. I second reading if you enjoy paranormal reads
Wow! Is all I can say! This isn't my normal genre that I read but it's Addison Moore so I knew it would be amazing and of course she hit it out if the park! Anything she writes turns to gold. Thank you for these! I would of probably never opened my eyes to something different without them!
I've really enjoyed this bundle of the first three books. I love the characters. I just really hope it's not going to be one of those never-ending series that becomes stale or loses appeal after the first few books.
Wow what a CLIMAX!!!! And to leave me hanging!!!! I'm stunned I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING!!!! I did have the feeling that bc she forgot to tell Dr.Oliver to stop that that would happen, but the part before that....Wow what a twist!!!!
You'll never see the ending coming. At first I thought this was just a"Twilight" wannabe, and it does read quite a bit like that. The ending more than makes up for all the same same however.
