I'm not sure what to think of this one. I liked the chemistry between the MCs but that's about it.

Gemma has been shunned by the ton because her father is a scumbag.
Towards the end of the story you get glimpses of what it was like being raised by him... not good. Yet at the same time, it made her character suddenly flat. If she had such an interesting upbringing, why does she come across as any other simpering mary-sue miss??

She meets Sam by chance while picnicking with her aunt and they are both instantly smitten. But she is so used to being treated like crap because of her last name, that she is hesitant to let Sam know it. He has been hurt by previous love interests turning him over in favour of other men. So they are a couple of doubters but Sam keeps finding the courage to seek out her company. He even invites her to a house party he is giving.
The other women in the party are mostly glossed over filler. Four of them are conniving to keep her and Sam apart but it's all told to the reader and not much shown. They go from nice young women to horrible back stabbing villains in a comical way. The way Sam decides to give them their comeuppance wasn't clever in the least even though the author suggested it would be. It was about as straight forward as it gets. The way he helps Gemma regain her dignity with the Ton also wasn't clever and wasn't particularly believable either.

So by the end I felt kinda let down. I did skim a fair bit for the last 2/3 of the book.

Then in the ending it went from a pretty much PG story to full blown erotic in the turn of a page.

So the whole thing felt like a tacked together hodge podge with no depth or anything interesting to keep my attention.

Just Another Viscount In Love is a short and sweet romance that made me smile and left me feeling fully satisfied and so joyful. This was a shorter book, so obviously it did have the normal a bit rushed feel to it as all novellas tend to feel like. But quite honestly, it totally worked for this story and this couple. I haven't had a chance to read the previous three books in the series, but I was definitely more than fine reading this one as a stand alone.

The story set off when our heroine, Gemma Desmond has gone to the country with her aunt to escape a scandal that her father created who is rumored to be a thief and who kept her prisoner for a time. Gemma is looking for some peace and quiet away from town and society. While attempting to clean a stain from her gown, she is caught tickling a fish by a stranger, a man who is compelling and kind. She soon learns that he is none other than Samuel Wortham, the Viscount Ellery. When he invites her and her aunt to his estate for a country house party, a big part of her wants to say no because she doesn't want to taint Samuel with the scandal she is hunted by. But Samuel isn't shy, and he wants Gemma for his own. He knows that there is something more to Gemma, he sees a kind and gentle young woman who is being haunted by something or someone.

This romance was beyond tender and sweet and I was definitely in the mood for it, and it definitely worked for me in every way. There is one conflict of course but it's not a major part of the story. I really enjoyed seeing these two come together, they are surrounded by family members that have found love and encourage a love match. Which was quite refreshing especially in a regency. There was such a soft and poignant tone to this book that I just craved towards and couldn't get enough. And left me wanting to try the other books in the series and SOON.

I absolutely loved this novella. It was so sweet, so romantic. I'm a tough sell on romance novellas. Especially if the characters are meeting for the first time. But I like this series so I thought I'd give it go. I'm glad I did. It's really easy for novellas to come off as instalove and just over the top. Even more difficult is selling it for historical romances but somehow this worked.

Samuel, the Viscount Ellery, is looking for a wife. He also happens to be a romantic at heart because his parents are so happy together and quite in love years into their marriage. This isn't something easy to pull off, in my opinion. I find myself rolling my eyes at heroes that walk around sighing and wishing for children and a woman to grow old with. Maybe I'm just super cynical. Somehow my eyes managed to stay firmly on the page and not the back of my head while reading this book. It was just adorable. Sam, of course, throws a wife finding house-party. Maybe it's because I've been reading a lot of HRs with these house parties in them that I finally made this connection but these parties are seriously like a 19th-century version of The Bachelor. They have a lot in common with one another. While the party lasts, they all live in the same massive house. He walks around spending quality (supervised by someone) time with each one, seeing how they interact with each other and if they are lucky enough, his parents. And of course, eventually sending home the women that he decides he has no future with. Somehow I thought our generation invented the idea of a bunch of women competing with each other with the goal of marriage to a man they've just met and don't even know if they really like. I'm a little relieved we didn't. We just had the idea to follow these people around on camera. Keepin' it classy, 21st century. Juuuust kidding. Or am I?

I digress. Ellery meets Gemma kind of by mistake. She isn't there to be at his house party, she and her feisty aunt are picnicking on his property. (I'm not sure how that happened, just go with it.) They instantly like each other but Gemma has scandal tied to her name so she doesn't want to truly introduce herself. She and her aunt are wandering around travelling because everywhere they go, they are snubbed. To make this even better, the scandal isn't even her fault, it's her father's. He's awful in all ways and left her to deal with the ramifications of his general evil/awfulness. Ellery feels the connection with her and makes sure to invite her to his party so that he can get to know her. From there you can guess how it goes. He only has eyes for her and wants her desperately. She adores him too but doesn't want to ruin his good name with her scandal tainted name. They each have trust issues but have to learn to get past them. And so on.

All in all, this book was just so relaxing. Like the book version of a bubble bath. A short fun way to destress and forget about your crappy day. Such fluffy fun. I think I would actually re-read this. It took about two hours to read and left me with a giant smile on my face.

Lowkey and lovely are the words I would use to describe Just Another Viscount in Love. While insta in nature, the romance between Sam and Gemma was very sweet and surprisingly tender. I really enjoyed watching our two highly tentative mains take the biggest risk of all: falling in love.

Something else I liked was how Vivienne Lorret took the story’s greatest weakness, that being Gemma’s debilitating and often times frustrating self doubt, and turned it into a strength. After so many pages full of fears and insecurities, it was extremely satisfying to see Gemma discover her worth and courage through love.
“With him, the world seemed different, brighter. Oh, she knew well enough that there would always be darkness lurking around the corner. Yet she’d realized there could also be places where she felt safe. Where she could be herself without fear of judgement. Sam had helped her see that. And she liked this altered perspective, this fresher, hopeful version of herself. She liked who she was when she was with him.”

THIS is why I read and love romance. People finding hope, love, happiness and acceptance, flaws, fears and all.

Also, Sam ends up building Gemma a cottage beside the lake where they first met, just because she asked for it. Talk about romantic!

The newest addition to The Season's Original Series. From the first paragraph I was hooked. Viv's writing is lyrical and enchanting. This book brought a smile to my face that lasted through the whole story.

Gemma is a young lady who has spent most of her life trying to escape from her father. He is a criminal that forced her to help him cheat people. She has finally back in England with her Aunt, but she cannot escape the notoriety of her surname. She is ostracized by the Ton. Her Aunt decides it is better to leave London and tour England. All Gemma wants is a family to love, a husband and children.

Samuel Wortham, Viscount Ellery hasn't had much luck finding a bride. So far he has selected two woman who happen to love someone else. He doesn't really trust his judgement so he decides to host a house party and invite debutantes looking for a husband. He doesn't count on finding a captivating woman while walking on is property. He is smitten almost from the start. She is intelligent, lovely, and has sense of humor that is unusual in young ladies he has encountered before.

There is no brooding, uncertainties, or those misunderstandings that usual occur in some romance novels. Gemma is a sweet and is never mean or petty. Sam is a truly honorable man with a heart of gold. They are made for each other. Unfortunately there are other young ladies at the house party who want Sam for themselves and will do anything to break the fascination between Gemma and Sam.

When Sam finds a necklace belonging to another lady at the party he is confused and cannot believe that Gemma is a thief. His reaction convinces Gemma that he is just like everyone else and she doesn't give him a chance to think through the circumstances of what happened. She assumes that he is thinking what everyone else does, that she is a thief like her father. She thought he was different maybe she is wrong. Brokenhearted, will she run or stay and fight for love.

Do not miss this one. It is a lovely novella that will keep you reading until the last word. It is great to see Ellery get his HAE.

This MMC was a perfect English gentleman with great communication skills and an open mind. We have seen Sam since book one and we have hope that he was as perfect as he acted. And he is. She was food too! This was a slow burn romance with forced proximity.

I have read and enjoyed all three books in this series, but this installment was considerably weaker for me. Part of it might be because of the inherent problems which often come with novellas. The story is very very simple and the love is Insta. Honestly though, my biggest issue was that I was a little bit bored.

Poor Samuel definitely deserved a happy ever after, considering he was cast aside by the other heroines in the series through no fault of his own. He is handsome, kind, and really quite a catch. Gemma, on the other hand, is essentially a pariah. Her father was a villain in a previous tale and now she is unsuitable in the eyes of the time because of his evil deeds.

Basically, Sam spots her at the pond and they strike up a conversation. He doesn’t know who she is, but it is super obvious that she does not have a deceitful bone in her body. This is Very Important. We need to set up an emphasis on this, because you know that her trustworthiness will be a point of contention later in the story. So it’s really important we are aware she is honest because of how she communes with the fish in the pond. (Just go with me here. I didn’t write the book.)

Anyway, Sam invites her to a house party that he is throwing because he is so completely smitten with her. All the other ladies hate her because of her family name and they are basically regency era Mean Girls. I don’t want to dig too deep into the plot, because it is short. But suffice it to say, it did not do anything to engage my emotions. Well, unless you count the big misunderstanding which successfully irritated me.

I don’t want to sound like I hated this. I didn’t. I was just disappointed and underwhelmed. I would stick with the full length stories in this series if you want to give this author a try.

Samuel, Viscount Ellery is ready to marry, and his position, demeanor and reputation should prove no obstacle. But, he’s unlucky: each woman he has pursued has gone off and married someone else. Determined, if a bit cautious about the marriage mart, he’s decided to host a house party to which he’ll invite some close friends, a few select eligible debutantes and hope for the best. Sam is a wonderfully complex and gallant man: he’s laden with a generosity of spirit and a genuine goodness, along with a true desire to find that one woman to make his own, that you can’t help but be drawn to him.

Gemma is traveling about with her aunt, the Dowager Duchess of Vale. She’s enjoying the travel and seeing new sights, best of all there are no whispers behind gloved hands or outright disrespect shown her because of her father’s sins. See, Gemma’s father is a nororious thief and while she herself has led an honest life, the snubs and gibes, not to mention the impact on her opportunities for a good marriage are all reasons to avoid society at all costs. Gemma is fortunate that her aunt, being well titled and unconcerned with the snubs from society has taken her under her wing. She sees (as readers do) that Gemma is wonderfully sweet, kind and genuinely a good catch, for the right man.

A stop for a leisurely wade in a pond during the warm afternoon places Gemma and Sam in proximity, the pond is, after all, on his land. A quiet conversation is struck up: both seem to be intrigued with the other, and the connection between the two shows a kinship that could easily lead to love. Embarrassed by her gaffe of wading in the Viscount’s pond, she can’t resist when Sam, finding them at the inn, issues an invitation to the party at his house. He’s intrigued by Gemma, and wants to know her better.

Of course, the other debs at the party quickly ferret out Gemma’s notorious connections, and quickly work to isolate her from the group and from Sam, who will not be denied or put off. He’s intrigued by her and discovers the real woman beneath the stories: her heart, her shame and her concern to not burden any man with her paternal connections mean little to him, and he increases his pursuit, showing her that he sees her as she is, not who she is. Wonderfully built, these two characters arrive fully formed and develop a relationship that is easily described as ‘eyes for only one”, much to the delight of the Dowager Duchess and the dismay of the debutantes at the party. Engaging, heartfelt and smile-inducing, this is a wonderful installment in this series.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This delightful bit of sweet fluff. <3

So I haven't read the other books in the series - but I might now.

Ellery is ... I mean he's a sweetheart. Smitten - not an asshole. Willing to listen. REALLY smitten.

Gemma is ... awesome. Poor girl has not not NOT had an easy life.
(When/what she figures out about her dad :X)

anyway - this was kinda exactly what I needed - a lovely romance with characters who are instantly connected BUT thoughtful. Their relationship develops quickly but believably.

The secondary characters - well the friends are good, the villains truly villainous. Sam's father - and mother! - are <3 <3 <3

I wish there had been a bit more on/from ... Hunt I think? Sam's friend?

[There really isn't ... MUCH though? It's hard to explain. I think ... probably had I read all the other books MAYBE I would've felt this had more substance? But also maybe not - the "four horsewomen" were very static - even their melee in the end was ... you know.]
And I was kinda annoyed with the tell him/don't tell him/oh it's too late - only it isn't.

It's all low key too since Gemma and Sam spend stolen moments but they're literally just moments through the house party. Then he kinda ... loses his mind and is a bit of an ass and it's not BAD but it's :|

[OH! One part did make me tear up. But it was also 4:13 AM. So there is that too. >.>]

Anyway - over all a lovely quick nice comforting read.

As reviewed at Roses Are Blue: http://wp.me/p3QRh4-By

Samuel Wortham, Viscount Ellery, is ready to settle down - in fact, he's looking forward to it with great anticipation. The problem is, his two previous attempts at courtship amounted to nothing, as the young ladies fell in love with other men. Now, a little leery, but determined nonetheless, Sam is going to host a houseparty which will include several eligible debutantes, along with a few of his friends. Maybe the close group will produce the lady meant to be Sam's future bride. Before the party, Sam is leisurely strolling his grounds, when he encounters a lovely young lady wading in his pond. Not wanting to alarm her, Sam engages her in friendly conversation, and in the matter of a few moments, he is smitten.

Gemma Desmond is traveling the countryside with her Aunt Edith, the dowager Duchess Vale. Gemma left London to avoid scandalous talk, snubs, and slurs. Unfortunately, Gemma's father is a notorious thief and criminal, and though Gemma has lived an honest life, she is guilty by association. Aunt Edith has even been the recipient of some social snubs for maintaining contact with her niece, despite her high social rank. Gemma and Edith stopped their travels to rest at the lovely pond, not knowing they were on private property. Though embarrassed at being caught wading, Gemma converses with the handsome young man, and also feels an instant rapport with him.

The scene with Sam and Gemma meeting at the pond is so lovely and beautifully written, that I could feel them almost falling in love at first sight. I felt an instant click that these two people belonged together. Sam finds out that the inn they will be staying at is very close by, and he comes calling and invites them to his houseparty. Though Gemma would love to attend, she doesn't see any reason to pursue the relationship, as once Sam realizes who she's related to, he'll distance himself. Yet, Aunt Edith convinces Gemma to enjoy this bit of happiness, and they head off to Dunnock Park, Sam's home.

As you would expect, the other ladies at the party realize who Gemma is, and make every effort to snub her and to keep her away from Sam, who is showing a marked preference for her. When it appears that Sam doesn't care about Gemma's unfortunate family connections, a couple of the "ladies" decide to concoct a plot to incriminate Gemma. These women are truly detestable villains. Will their plot work, and will Sam believe his eyes or his heart?

It's rare that I have such a genuine liking for both hero and heroine equally. I loved their character, their personalities, their generosity, and their genuine goodness. And I mean that in the best of ways - they are interesting, fully developed people with an amazing chemistry, both physically and emotionally. Their love felt almost enchanting to me, and I adore this short story passionately. JUST ANOTHER VISCOUNT IN LOVE is full of romance and warmth, and reading it was pure delight.

Just Another Viscount in Love is a novella in the Season's Original series by Vivienne Lorret. I have read the other books, but it's not necessary to have done so in order to understand and enjoy this book.

Samuel Worthington, Viscount Ellery is feeling a little fed up. It seems twice he has given his heart to women with the intention of marriage only to have them be in love with somebody else. As the last straw, he holds a house party and invites a few eligible women with a view to choosing one for his bride.

Gemma Desmond is in the country with her aunt Edith to get away from London Society. Her father has been arrested for attempted murder, and she will be forever shunned because of it. At least in the country, nobody knows her, therefore they will only judge her for herself and not her family.

Sam's first meeting with Gemma is at the river on his property. She is wading in the water where he has gone to fish. She doesn't know who he is or that she is on his land. From first sight, he is besotted with Gemma, and if nothing else, Gemma realises that Sam is extremely handsome and charming. It's not a difficult decision for him to invite her and her aunt to his house party, although it's harder for her to accept. She worries that when he finds out who she is, he too will give her the cut direct. He convinces her to attend. All starts out well, but of course, she is recognised by the other ladies at the party. Some of them make it their duty to make her stay there miserable. Giving her the cut direct, and trying to stop anybody talking to her. They especially don't want Sam to consider her for a wife.

Will Sam prove to be somebody worthy of Gemma, a man who can see past her family to the person she is, not who her father is or what he has done? Can Gemma allow herself to fall in love with Sam knowing that by association he will be sullied and may also end up treated badly?

Considering this was a novella it was a wonderfully well written, detailed story about our couple. There was just the right amount of detail given to each person or scenario. I could easily picture poor Gemma being treated so unfairly both in London and at the house party. Then there was Sam, wanting to give himself over to his love for Gemma, but being scared that she would end up choosing another man. A nicely paced story that I happily read in one go, one with a perfect ending that left me smiling!

He needed to spend his life with her. And he knew that no one else would ever compare.

Samuel Wortham, Viscount Ellery, wants to settle down and get married. If only he could find the right woman but it seems each lady he’s so far thought he would be able to love eventually ends up marrying someone else. So he organises a house party, hoping he would find a wife among his guest. Instead he finds himself captivated by a beautiful stranger he finds by his estate’s pond and unwilling to not see her again he invites her to the party, knowing he’s found the woman he’s been hoping for.

Gemma Desmond is the daughter of a notorious criminal which has given her a quite dreadful reputation which makes all men weary of showing an interest in her. But then a chance meeting with a very handsome and charming lord makes her hope she could have a happy future too. But can Gemma escape her undeserved reputation or has she only found Samuel to lose him.

He wanted her happiness and to see all the days of her life joined with his. Above all, he wanted her heart open to love. And he would fill it, each minute of every day.

I loved both Sam and Gemma and their instant attraction. I especially adored the charming Sam and how he didn’t judge Gemma once he found out about the reputation she had. And I loved how hard he pursued her and protected her from the conniving debutantes and their family who tried to push them apart.

I loved this novella, it was so sweet and romantic and with so little angst. And I really hope Sam’s friend, Lord Asher Holt, gets his own book.

This book was a delight from start to finish. I was a little sad that it was so short, but that was plenty of time to tell the story of Gemma and Sam's thunderstruck, love at first sight, lovers passing in the library romance.

It was the perfect mix of awww and oooo, with loads of sweetness from the beta hero, Sam, and a little bit of sensuality here and there to help the reader FEEL the heat and desire simmering beneath the surface. Gemma's sweet nature and disbelief in her worth was overdone to the point where it left me rolling my eyes at her ridiculousness. Instead, she was surrounded by secondary characters that helped dispel her images of low self-worth. I LOVED how completely fallen Sam was with Gemma. He wasn't such a lovesick fool that he annoyed me, but he was just enough the bewitched hero that the reader could FEEL his devotion and growing love for Gemma.

This book made me fall even deeper in love with my own husband--and when a book can evoke that kind of emotion, it is certainly worth 5 stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read and I cannot wait to read another of Ms. Lorret's books.

It was sweet and simple and I even believed the romance though it was quite fast; but that's what we usually get in short stories. It even made me want to try reading the rest of the series..

Sometimes I just need a fast read between novels and this one was a nice break!

Just Another Viscount In Love was a very compelling and sweet romance, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The writing was phenomenal, it just grabbed my attention and I could feel everything. It was very well done. The characters came alive and even though it was a fast paced book, everything was believable and beautiful. Gemma was a witty and likeable heroine,  her background made everything interesting. I adored Samuel, he was a very magnetic hero. All the characters were amazing. All in all, a fabulous read. I will definitely be reading more Vivienne Lorret.

What a delightful novella! I loved this for several reasons. First and foremost, Ellery: what a wonderful change to have a hero who is nice, respectful, decent, looking for marriage and affection—I mean, come on, how often does THAT happen in our romance books? It was also nice because we see Ellery in all the previous books, and he is basically constantly losing the woman he's courting to another man (the hero of that book). He's never loved any of them, so if you're not one to like that, don't worry; it's more that he admired and respected them and thought that love might grow, or wanted to see if it would.

Ellery is just so delicious on so many levels. I love his interactions with Gemma; I love how he's normally pretty staid, reserved, and careful, but feels a big attraction to her and acts on it; I love his courting of her; I love what a stand-up guy he is when he finds out about her father and doesn't let that intimidate him and insists that she stay at the house party; I love that he knows he wants her and wants to see if she feels the same way; I love that he believes in her and trusts her and wants to fight for her. So, yeah, Ellery was great in my book—as you can tell!

Now onto Gemma, who was also a delight. I skipped Book 3, When a Marquess Loves a Woman —not for any specific reason; it's supposed to be really good and I own it, but I'm not always a big fan of second-chance romances, because of the invariable Big Misunderstandings that caused the necessity of a second chance—but I read Book 2, This Earl is on Fire right before this one, and Gemma first appears there (though off-page). We're introduced to her father there though, and witness his crimes, which is the whole setup for this book and causes her to be an outcast from society. Granted, I was surprised that despite being cousins of a Duke and an Earl, society still treats her that way; I would have thought those titles would have intimidated most people to a certain degree to at least treat her with some decency.

Anyway, Gemma has really had a rough life and is in a tough situation. Her mother died when she was young and she was dragged hither and yon by her father, witnessing and partaking in his schemes, being locked away sometimes, etc. One thing I do wish is that we learned more about her international experiences, because according to Book 2, she speaks several languages and one would think she undoubtedly has a lot of interesting tales and experiences from around the world, even despite her father being an ass and leading her into several unsavory situations. I loved her strength though and her honesty; she wants to tell Ellery from the start about her father (he doesn't make the association), but her aunt, the Dowager Duchess, insists she wait. I was worried about how long that would drag on, and although it did a bit, I still thought it was an appropriate amount of time and didn't feel too deceptive of her.

I love how she and "Sam" (Ellery) have this close connection from the beginning, and understandably she doubts the possibility of a HEA for her, because of all that has happened, and she is wary of bringing shame to anyone who associates with her. Ellery won't hear of it though, and being the upstanding guy he is, knows that the sins of the father shouldn't be visited upon their children. As the summary reveals, Gemma is framed for theft, and I appreciated both her and Ellery's reactions and how they dealt with it. Thankfully, Lorret writes the story so that it avoids what could have been repeated instances of Big Misunderstandings. (Yes, there are some hiccups, don't get me wrong, but some things are always so pat, with the hero immediately casting out the heroine, then being filled with remorse when he discovers the truth, then him groveling to the heroine and her accepting him back; Lorret gives us a new spin).

Overall, a lovely read! Enjoy!!!

A vacation with her aunt to escape London's gossips and the black mark against her name because of her father, a whimsical meeting at the pond, and Samuel Wortham, Viscount Ellery's pleasant personality is all Gemma Desmond needed and want.

"Surely there are more than enough pleasant sights for us both to enjoy. And should a few words of conversation float in my direction, I would not be averse to casting my own in return."

This is why I adore Vivienne Lorret's books. The charming way she write and the great pairing she do between two people you can't help but find charming too, whether they're peers or not, whether they're rogues or just good guys, opinionated and bold ladies or sensible and shy.

After reading the first novella and the three books in the series, I was so happy to learn about this novella and that it was Viscount Ellery's story. He was unlucky in love but it was obvious he deserved to find his HEA. It was also a pleasure to meet again with Gemma's aunt, the Dowager Duchess of Vale.

"It is no wonder that your only thought is to escape. You only see blocked paths and barred doors, Gemma. Not the open arms right in front of you."

It was a cute story, perfect to end a series.
Samuel Wortham is the one man left without a bride since he wooed one who was in love with another man, and his other attempt failed too. He is no one to hurry to decide who is the perfect viscountess for him, he needs time to get to know someone. Until he meets Gemma, she elicits something new in him, a need to see her again, an urge to be close to her. But what if, it is a mistake?
Gemma bears the shame of her name, the one of a man turned criminal. Because of this, she is rejected and see as soûler by the haute society, it even brings disgrace to her kin. So when she encounters Samuel, she for one moment hopes for a different future but her past has a way to catch up with her.
So how Sam will show her she is so much more than the surname she bears. And what of Sam’s reputation if Gemma accepts his offer?
There are some drama but the most important fact is how will they make the other believe in them and how will they trust their feelings.

Gemma is a young lady trying to shake the scandal of her father's past and Samuel is a man wishing to settle down. They meet, they're instantly attracted, in love not long thereafter and bar a few hiccups along the way they live happily ever after.

It was a sweet, harmless romance. I cannot rave about it because it was rather tame and mellow, but neither was it the worst thing I've ever read. Both characters were decent people who deserved to be happy. Overall, an okay read.

This was my first time reading Vivienne Lorrett. I received a copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Having none of other work to judge it by I found Just Another Viscount in Love to be quite a delightful, fun read.
I love it when authors write novella's in the midst of a series. It keeps the series going until the next novel.
I found this novella to be well written and plotted. So much so that I intend to read the first books of the series. I look forward to more by this author.

This was a very short and very sweet romance. There was lots of things to like about it. I thought the dialogue between the main characters was snappy and smart. I really liked the characters and I thought the chemistry between them was wonderful. It was very cute and well written but the problem was that it was way too short. I could have done with an extra hundred pages just to round out the characters and story line a little bit more.

Heroines all resemble...

My least favourite of the set. I did not care for Gemma and the pacing of the story was incredibly slow and uninteresting.

Posted on What I'm Reading

In the series, Sam has been having a hard time finding a bride. Every time he seems to find the perfect candidate her heart lies with another. Poor Sam, so he's home recuperating and decides to hold a house party.

Now Gemma Desmond has been blacklisted from pretty much everything, because of the crimes of her father. I guess the ton sees her as the apple that hasn't fall far from the tree. Truly heartbreaking, because she's a sweet girl. She doesn't hold much hope, and she's always prepared for the worst case scenario. I adore Gemma, then again I sometimes feel that it's best to prepare for the worst kind of attitude.

Anyway, Just Another Viscount in Love is a sweet story, between Gemma and Sam. Both have an outlook hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. Sam is able to look past of the sins of her father, because he truly believes that Gemma wouldn't be like her father. However, it would have been a pretty boring, short read if they lived happily ever after. Instead we have a few bumps along the way. I mean we have vindictive harpies, father's sin hanging over the shoulders, and that's pretty much it. Overall, it was a pretty good read, and it was nice to see Sam finally find a girl that sticks. If you are in the mood for a guy who has a little bad luck when it comes to ladies, and hoping for a miracle, you might find it in Just Another Viscount in Love.

This was definitely not my normal genre for reading, but I saw this book and thought I would take a chance on it, as the blurb was really goo, it is a shorter read (perfect for tube journeys) and I loved the sweet cover. I was definitely not let down, and found myself impressed with both the story and the author's ability to give us something sweet, romantic and light-hearted, with a good deal of detail, in a small package.

I liked the style the author has, as it really lends itself to the sweet romance stories. The details are written in a way to make you feel as though you are floating through the story, watching as these two fall deeply in love. It is a wonderful feeling and made reading this book very lovely.

The characters are created well and really have been made into well-rounded individuals, especially for a shorter read, which made it very easy for me to fall for them myself. The author brought them to life and made it true enough that I really felt connected to them and their story.

Overall, this is definitely a little read I would recommend, especially if you want something to life your mood and share the joy of love with you p, as you see it come to life for them.

I am a fan of Ms Lorret, but this is not one of my favorites.

Gemma is the daughter of a notorious father. He attempted murder, he gambled, he cheated people, in short he is not a nice guy.

And since this is the upper crust of England, Gemma becomes a pariah in society. She is not welcome anywhere. After all, her father has given her tainted blood.

She meets Sam at a pond in Surrey. There is instant rapport. They share intelligence, they share the same sense of humor, and they both enjoy nature. And there is also instant physical attraction.

He is so taken with her, he invites she and her aunt, to a house party. His original invitations were sent so he might be able to find a future wife. Of course there are some women there who try to make Gemma as miserable as possible. After all, Sam is quite the catch.

I liked Gemma and Sam and the secondary characters. Even the nasty females were interesting.

I liked the premise. It is different from many Regency plots.

I did not enjoy the slow movement. It seemed that events had more descriptions than actual action.

It is a well written book, which is just what I would expect from Ms Lorret. She is a master at her craft.
