Excellent series.

Steve Gannon s one of my favorite author, read all the books in this series. This one was about terrorism in LA, media sensationalism spread it around the US and Europe too. Kane family is dealing with the loss of wife and mother. Again Kane family stands together, wedding, mental illness also being targeted by the terrorist. Kane is grizzly bear outside, teddy bear inside. Recommend this book to everybody.

"Kanes stand together...no matter what."

I started reading author Gannon's books in 1997, when the first book in this awesome series came out - A SONG FOR THE ASKING. I discovered it at my local library, if my memory serves me correctly. Yea for the library system. I loved (and still love) that book and have read it many times, which is unusual for me.

Gannon is a talented writer who draws his readers into his stories, letting them experience the joy, angst, and pain of his characters. His dialogue and character development is some of the best I've ever read (as I've noted in previous reviews).

INFIDEL is the fifth book in the Kane family series. Book four - L.A. SNIPER - just about did me in. I won't tell you why because if you haven't read this series, you definitely should before reading this book. Do you have to read the other books to enjoy this book? No, but it will be a much richer reading experience for you if you do.

Again, in this offering, I loved the characters of the Kane family. They feel so true-to-life and multi-faceted. Dan Kane, the patriarch of this clan, is a rough and tumble guy and sometimes you love him and sometimes you just want to slap him. He's working as a liaison between the FBI and the LAPD as they track some really despicable killers. Kane keeps slogging along in spite of office politics getting in the way repeatedly.

Do yourself a big favor and read this book (and hopefully the series). A SONG FOR THE ASKING is probably in my top twenty books ever.

I received this book from the author in exchange for my unbiased review - and I'm so glad I did.

I also bought the softcover edition of this book - to support one of my favorite authors.

Det Kane and his family are trying to recover from the murder of his wife. He is called back to work to be the liaison between the LAPD and the FBI on a case with terrorism being the only thing they can draw from the whole case. The story takes us through finding the who, why and how. The story gives us a look at the feelings as well as the drive the detective has plus the way he can depend on those who really stand behind him where ever his lead takes them. My first read by this author.

Becoming too predictable

Same story, different characters. Too much family drama, as one person commented "soap opera", Mr Gannon has the narrative skills but may lack imagination for an interesting plot. I hope I'm misjudging as I appreciate authors like Clancy, Flynn, Thor etc and their ability to submerge me into their plot. Hopefully Mr Gannon can join their ranks.

Thank you for good novels, Steve Gannon

I have enjoyed all of Steve Gannon's books. I especially like the Kane series.
Mr. Gannon writes well, a pleasure to read books with excellent grammar and sentence structure that flows. It makes immersing in the story much easier because poor grammar is distracting.

The mixture of the Kane family's life, problems and situations with the murder mystery/police thriller is an interesting balance. Mr Gannon never fails to provide excitement. One reading his novels feels a part of the story.
Thank you, Steve Gannon for turning out such good novels. Keep up the good work.

Great mystery novel and Kane family story. Steve Gannon did it again. If you liked any of the first four Kane novels, you're going to love this one. I know I will be reading it again and again.
