Once again, five stars for Track. This sadly is the final volume in the series. It seemed to stop rather abruptly. After the adventure, in the epilogue, Dan Track is told his new mission would be in Japan. It was never to be. This series could have only gotten better.
Track, his nephew George and the Oxford educated African warrior Zulu are sent by the consortium, a loose group of insurance agencies, to Peru to recover Pizarro's Calendar, a priceless artifact. There is a parallel story about a Peruvian bandit that is captured by a paramilitary group intent on overthrowing the government. They have a gold mine they make prisoners work for funds to accomplish this. After 3/4th of this book the stories combine. Add a vivacious lounge singer that Track has a fling with before his adventure who turns out to be the camp commandant's woman.
This was an all around fine book. Add to that that this is the last Track, and I had to give it a solid five stars. I'm really going to miss this series. One of my favorites. I'm going to have to look into other things by Patrick Andrews. I still have tons of books by the series creator, Jerry Ahern.
