Creepy Carrots #2

Creepy Pair of Underwear! (Jasper Rabbit's Creepy Tales!

Rate this book
From the celebrated team behind Creepy Carrots!, Aaron Reynolds and Caldecott Honor winner Peter Brown, comes a hilarious (and just a little creepy) story of a brave rabbit and a very weird pair of underwear.Jasper Rabbit is NOT a little bunny anymore. He’s not afraid of the dark, and he’s definitely not afraid of something as silly as underwear. But when the lights go out, suddenly his new big rabbit underwear glows in the dark. A ghoulish, greenish glow. If Jasper didn’t know any better he’d say his undies were a little, well, creepy. Jasper’s not scared obviously, he’s just done with creepy underwear. But after trying everything to get rid of them, they keep coming back!

Does your underwear glow in the dark? Does your underwear share different facial expressions depending on its mood? No?! You must have missed the best store in the world — the one that sells “creepy” underpants. Well, these underpants are certainly not for everybody, but they provide illumination and friendship to open-minded children who treasure whimsical clothing. And maybe if we, the adults, sign a petition, these fantastical undergarments can be made in our sizes too.

Any time of year is perfect to read Creepy Pair of Underwear. 🩲

The text, illustrations, and encouragement to face fears are big wins for kids 3-8. We still read this every year, and we are now outside of the suggested age range, but it’s always a fun read.

I applaud the author for making a more original story book for children. So many story books are repetitive, with the same lessons over and over again. Give this one a try if you like humor, striking illustrations, and solid lessons.

We loved reading Creepy Carrots, so when we saw that Creepy Pair of Underwear! came out, we couldn’t resist and had to grab it!

The story begins with Jasper Rabbit as he heads to the store with his mom to pick up some new underwear. He notices a new underwear section featuring creepy underwear and mom agrees that he can purchase them. He’s feeling so grown up and can’t wait to wear them to bed that night.

When his mom shuts off the light, he notices that the underwear actually glows in the dark. He realizes that they are a little TOO creepy and becomes afraid! Jasper is a big rabbit and convinces himself that he’s not scared, or is he? He tries to hide the creepy underwear with the ghoulish glow in multiple places and even sends them to China, but they keep coming back.

Follow along in the story and discover if Jasper can find a way to overcome his fear of the creepy pair of underwear.

We loved the illustrations and the story is adorable. Our rating on this one is 5-stars.

This book is hilarious. I can hear my niece and nephew laughing at the silliness of this. They loved to laugh at people in their underwear and still do. This would have them in stitches, I believe. This is the kind of book we would have had a ton of fun reading together. I miss those days reading with them. They are reading out loud with their parents the Harry Potter books and they are excited to start book 5. I'm ready for the pandemic to be over with so I can spend time with them again.

It's a great story for Halloween, but it can be a story for any time of year really. Anytime you are looking for a bit of a creepy feeling. It's from the author of Creepy Carrots.

This rabbit thinks he's old enough to buy a pair of creepy underwear. They have a face on them. He buys them and he gets scared, so he does all kinds of things to get rid of them and they keep coming back, because they are creepy. My favorite is Jasper rabbit mails them to china and they come back with chop sticks. Haha. He finally gets rid of them and we see the creepy carrot patch in the process, which I loved and then Jasper realizes that his room is too dark without them. So he gets them back and buys more and he sleeps like a baby.

That's all what happens, but there are plenty of laughs and guffaws along the way with this story. It's about the humor here.

The best part is the artwork. It's in black and white accept for the underwear which is a glowing lime green. It's a brilliant use of color and man, it works. It also does sort of give this story a creepy feel.

Jasper is a big rabbit now, so green underwear that glows shouldn’t scare him. Even though he’s most certainly not scared of them, he’s done with them now. But they’re not done with Jasper. This picture book had an R.L. Stine / Paul Jennings sort of vibe to it. The illustrations, mostly black and white but with a Halloween green glow to add to the spook factor, were brilliant! Who knew underwear had so many expressions?! And where can I put my order in for some?

Ridiculously cute and silly with a tiny bit of spooky for the little ones. I laughed out loud a few times. The colors and illustrations are fun. Perfect reading for smaller kids who love scary stories but aren't ready for full on fear. Super sweet and goofy!

While shopping with is mom for underwear, Jasper sees a display from which he cannot turn away. Creepy Underwear, their eerie glow, are calling to him and Jasper feels he MUST have a pair. Once he gets them home, Jasper tries his new underwear on for size, only to realise that it has a mind of its own. Nothing can stop it or keep it away from Jasper, even when he cuts it to shreds and ships it off to China. When he finally finds a solution, Jasper realises just how much he misses his pair of Creepy Underwear and comes up with an idea. Neo loved this as a bedtime story. Not quite in the realm of potty humour, he did laugh aloud throughout this piece.

Awesome book for children - especially if they love a touch of paranormal.

Jasper Rabbit thinks he a big rabbit and he convinces his mother to buy him a pair of really scary underwear that glow in the dark.
When he becomes too scared of them and he decides to get rid off them, they don't want to leave him!
He even tries to ship them to China unsuccessfully LOL

When he manages to make them disappear, he misses them and he takes them back :)

Jasper is not a little bunny anymore, he's a big rabbit, and on a trip to the underwear store with mom to buy plain white, insists the cool green underwear with the monster face are NOT scary. But no one told him they glowed in the dark- how's a bunny to sleep with all that light?! No matter what Jasper does: hiding them, chopping them to shreds, shipping them off to China, they keep coming back (with some lovely Asian souvenirs no less) Burying them works! But when he goes to bed that night, it's really dark...even for a big rabbit. Fantastic illustrations, plus I love that this book came from a classroom visit by the author, and one child's request for a story about scary underpants.

Author Aaron Reynolds weaves a great children’s story that’s just scary enough for little ones, and hilarious for all ages. And the twist ending is genius. Highly recommended.

Jasper the rabbit returns in this follow-up to Creepy Carrots! , this time confronting some scary underwear. Determined to prove that he's not a little rabbit anymore, our leporine hero tries at first to pretend that his green glow-in-the-dark underpants don't scare him. But when he finally gives in to his fear, and attempts to get rid of them, Jasper discovers that it isn't going to be so easy - a surprise that only increases his fear. Can we succeed in freeing himself from his creepy underwear, or will he have to learn to live with them...?

Like its predecessor, Creepy Pair of Underwear features a hilarious tale from author Aaron Reynolds and colorful, attention-grabbing illustrations from artist Peter Brown. I chuckled as I paged through this one, and think it was every bit as entertaining as the original! There isn't really a dastardly plot here, as there was in the original, but I enjoyed following Jasper through his many frantic attempts at ridding himself of his underwear, and appreciated the conclusion, in which he learns to accept these unusual undergarments, even finding a use for them! Recommended to anyone looking for fun, oddball picture-books that blend the frightening and the funny.

Ridiculous...and funny. Grace likes that they made two pages all black near the end “Whoa, that’s dark!”

Yikes! I loved this book!

I love Mr. Reynolds' 'Creepy Carrots,' which is owned by my grandsons, ages nine and five. While driving in the car a week ago one of them told me there was another book by the same author, 'Creepy Pair of Underwear!' and I immediately bought it! Had to HAVE it!

In this one Jasper Rabbit goes to the store to buy some new underwear - ordinary white underwear - but when he sees a green pair with a face, he has to HAVE it! His mother buys him one pair, and well...

The creepy pair of underwear sort of haunts him...

No spoiler here. How the bunny resolves the issue is half the fun. I LOVED IT!

(And I'm waiting to read it to the two boys.)

Five creepy stars!

This story is so cute! It's perfect for little boys and girls (or "big rabbits") who might be afraid of the dark and those who are just graduating to underwear. Jaspar's attempts to rid himself of this bizarre and creepy pair of underwear are hilarious! The illustrations are in black and white with a splash of green to enhance the "glow" of the underwear. I have to get this for my nephew who LOVES scary stories but won't sleep in his own bed! Maybe if he has a pair of creepy underwear in his room he'll actually stay in his own bed?

Teddy has SO MANY QUESTIONS about this book, "how do the underwear keep coming back?" "no but HOW do they keep coming back?" his hyper logical little 4 year old mind just cannot keep up with the magical glowing underpants, lol.

I just love this Creepy series featuring Jasper Rabbit.
I love the plot and the illustrations.
These stories always give me a chuckle.
The single color enhancement (in this case ghoulish glowing green) really makes the story come alive.
I certainly hope there will be more Creepy stories with Jasper!

A couple of pesky kids come to the library all the time and make me read this to them. They just scream "UNDERWEARS AREN'T SCARY, MISTER GERMANY!" over and over again. And then when the story is over, they ask me to start from the beginning.
