I re-read this book after two deecades (read it in school) and I must say I struggled. The language doesn't make this an easy read. The one thing that kept me going was the 'knowledge' that it's a fantastic story. On another note, I'm not sure if this is unique to me or all mums, but I just could not get through the first bits where David gets ill teated by his step father (father in law) - I have a 7 year old boy so it was too much (mind you, I did know it had a happy ending and he escapes oppression, but I was crying and had to put the book down for several days before picking it up again!)And I did find Mr & Mrs Micamber very irritating (funny to some) - I felt they were dragging the story, especially towards the end. But in all - a fascinating story - loved it and am so glad I re-read it! Happy Reading

I liked it a lot 💜, this was a children’s quick based book and I was longing for more details so I would love to read the full version and enjoy every part of it.

I think I’ll always admire Charles Dickens style of writing. He gives me the feels of family crisis, depression and happiness that no other author can give.

Read this book as bedtime reading for my kids, 6 & 8. They loved it, even though I thought some of the material was rather dark & dismal.
