Captive Bride 2: Daughter of Sparta

And was Philomena beautiful…
She was 18 now, of prime marriageable age and the thought of having her in his bed made his loins quiver. He would be lying if he said he didn’t desire her. She was tall, athletically built but not as muscled as her mother as Philomena preferred running and archery over swords. He would be lying if he said he didn’t dream of her. The last dream he had was of her laying naked under a thin sheet of fabric, the roundness of her breasts showing, her long black hair fanned out on the pillowed. She’d call to him, yet when he would reach her she’s disappear and he’s wake up; feeling sexually frustrated and needing a release. It was then that he’d call a servant girl but he would imagine her to be Philomena.
This was quickly becoming an obsession, a slightly unhealthy obsession but Dorian didn’t care. Philomena was the prize any man would want, and he was going to make sure that she would be his. He didn’t care what he had to do.

Captive Bride 2; Daughter of Sparta by Andromeda
“I am not a warrior like she was, but I am, and always will be, a Daughter of Sparta.”

Yes I know I didn’t do a review for book one. I still may do that; but anyways. I absolutely loved this enemies to lovers with Spartan and Greek themes. The character growth with the main characters is once again thrilling. And they also focused on the mother’s growth; the mother is a key player still even in book 2.
The spice scenes are pretty good; book one was better and more detailed. For a small book; it’s a very good plot!

Love It!!

This was a bittersweet end to the Captive Bride Duology, as much as I loved reading this story I also didn't want it to end. Philomena really showed what she was made of when she stepped up to the plate and accepted the throne from her brothers. It was really great reading on her journey on becoming a Queen, seeing her relationship evolve with her first love Abeeku as well as not cowering to others demands on what or how she should behave. Philomena certainly gives Darius a run for it by putting him in place as to how their marriage was going to be like. This book is filled with many intriguing events an incidents that'll keep you reading just see what happens next. If you read the first book you'll definitely enjoy this one.

The desire for power corrupts absolutely

That's the theme of this story. Dorian wants something he is not entitled to and ultimately causes his death. Darius' character takes his time to mature and becomes the king/ husband and step father to Philomena and Nkechia respectively, as a warrior's promise to Abeeku for saving his life. It was an interesting read. The first book was more enjoyable in my opinion.

Felt cheated

Very disappointed in this 2nd sequel. The blurb did not live up to what was written in the book! I really don't want to spill the beans of this book, but I am willing to say, the blurb has nothing to do with the shero regarding relationship. Nothing whatever!
