Wayne Walter Dyer was an American self-help author and a motivational speaker. Dyer earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy, a Master’s degree in Psychology and an Ed.D. in Guidance and Counseling at Wayne State University in 1970. Early in his career, he worked as a high school guidance counselor, and went on to run a successful private therapy practice. He became a popular professor of counselor education at St. John's University, where he was approached by a literary agent to put his ideas into book form. The result was his first book, Your Erroneous Zones (1976), one of the best-selling books of all time, with an estimated 100 million copies sold. This launched Dyer's career as a motivational speaker and self-help author, during which he published 20 more best-selling books and produced a number of popular specials for PBS. Influenced by thinkers such as Abraham H. Maslow and Albert Ellis, Dyer's early work focused on psychological themes such as motivation, self actualization and assertiveness. By the 1990s, the focus of his work had shifted to spirituality. Inspired by Swami Muktananda and New Thought, he promoted themes such as the "power of intention," collaborated with alternative medicine advocate Deepak Chopra on a number of projects, and was a frequent guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

On television, Wayne W. Dyer was lovely and plainspoken. When looking at books, I was surprised they entailed nothing but quotations and did not seem to have been penned by him. At a community sale, I found “Everyday Wisdom” from 1993 and was overwhelmed by the dullness with which that impression was confirmed.

Quotation collections have often uplifted me, making me smile and feel understood. These were so generic, I can’t believable publishing and claiming authorship was allowed. No one need be told: “You are a soul with a body, rather than a body with a soul”. So redundant were the messages, an editor could not have breezed through them hastily without noticing.

It was quickly clear Wayne was the minimalist type I cannot abide, who understood no warmth and harmony in connecting to and appreciating mementoes and other things. It places no objects above sentient creatures, to cherish the physical experience we have been given. We help each other be safe and comfortable, while developing our inner selves. Forgoing belongings or living in a tent, would be to eschew participation in the society of our birth. Learning our truths and purity, while living in modern society is the goal.

I disagreed with declaring that bad attitudes caused heavy feelings and hard situations. No one causes cancer or death, nor is amiss for releasing anger and anguish in strife. His self-righteous tone extended to our God-given emotions and thoughts, insisting we “just not care”. Advice that resonates well feels like a friend, lover, or parent giving us a hug.

We all grow and mustn’t judge divorce. However, this vociferous harmony guru married thrice. He was confronted about plagiarism twice. Albert Ellis praised the positive intent of Wayne’s first book and stopped there. I salute them both to rest in peace.

Audiobook
Many great quotes gathered from his other books, for people in different stages in life.

Recommended read or listen to.

Couple points
- you can only give to others what you have inside, and you can't give out something that you don't have inside
- forgiveness is an act of self love
- the venom is what can kill people, not the actual bite. Ride yourself of the venom inside of you
-all of your behavior are from your thoughts that perceive it
- anything you must have comes to own you
- want to accomplish goal, must be"willing" to do what it requires. If you haven't accomplished it, look back and see what you haven't ' been willing to do'

I listened to this on audiobook and it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed hearing Dr Dwayne Dyer preach simple truths of our everyday life and the amazing things god works through our lives. I can’t wait to read/listen to my audiobooks from him in the future.

Repite los mismos pensamientos con otras palabras. Además de que presenta algunos pensamientos que dependiendo del lente con que los veas se vuelven tontos y sin sentido.

I used this as a daily devotion because we all need a little bit of Wayne Dyer in our lives every day.

Good if you need a pick-me-up, but some of them are on an eye-rolling level of cheesiness. Basically a book of messages you would see on the inside of a Dove chocolate wrapper?
