I got this book out at the library, not expecting much, and started skimming thru it, and IT MADE NO SENSE. Thinking about it, I realized that that was because the main sense of the story was not carried by the dialogue. In nearly every YA book ever written you can just skim through and be fine, and I was not expecting anything but a light, easy read. But in Dream Bite the important things happen in the gaps between what people say and do. It was a lovely way to physically express the paranoia and big-brotherness of the society. I fell in love, and have reread Dream Bite regularly since.

I take away a star for the cruel and unreasonable reason that I then went out and borrowed a whole bunch more Ken Catran books, and NONE OF THEM WERE SO COOL :(
