This series is going to kill me waiting for the next one to come out. So far these books have been so innocent, but you can feel what is coming, and I can't wait.
The story was great, but the editing took away from a better review. The author would be wise to ask readers to read a draft and edit for her if she can't afford a paid editor. Big example, her kidnappers spoke Spanish, but later they reference the Russians. All in all, I love the guys and want to see what happens when they all go on tour.
read this almost in the same day as the first one! I didn't like it as much due to the ending. I hope the author won't force melody to choose one of the guys cos I wouldn't like to see any of them hurt. however when I read both books again I feel she has put a lot of emphasis on Tyler so I have a sinking feeling she'll probs end up with Tyler.
Still, I'm looking forward to the next book. Whenever that comes out
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
...Really? Honestly, this book is a great example of telling instead of showing. I felt like I was reading along as the author told me about what was happening, but I wasn't engaged or experiencing it.
It needs an editor.
So many parts were just...skipped. Places where entire conversations could've taken place were just left stranded. Big bombs hit, and then they moved on to the next thing. Then we jumped ahead again, and were reminded once again of all the terrible things Melody had been through. But there's no depth or substance, it's just like 'She had been through so much. They just wanted her to be happy. Tyler wanted her to be safe with all of his heart. Tristan was so angry and worried. Jesse broke into tears and cried enough for all of them. Melody was amazed by the new room. They bought her new stuff. She loved it. She cried again. They looked confused. She smiled. They smiled. She hugged them.'
That's basically what it felt like I was reading. I love reverse harem and see a ton of potential in this storyline but it just fell flat.
Drama boils around poor Melody like that dust cloud around Pigpen from Peanuts. She can't escape it no matter how hard she strives for normal. Or, as normal as normal can be with with band members who tour part of the year. Anything else I mention is going to be a spoiler so I'll leave it at that.
This poor girl has gone through hell. Continues to go through hell. She is just trying to find her feet and learn to live in this new world. Emotions, other than fear, are new; or are so rusty that feeling then is hard and overwhelming. Sensations other than pain have the same effect on her. She may be nearly an adult but she's emotionally stunted by her tragic past. The media vultures and constant threats from her creepy uncle and the (still) mysterious buyers aren't making life any easier, either.
Curious to know why it takes forever for the author to release this series . The end of this book is left on a mild cliffhanger with a lot of things unanswered.
who wants her ? Why are they trying so hard to get her even after a failed attempt at recapturing? Does the therapist get her husband back/ was he killed? How is the tour going to go with her in it ? How does their relationship evolve/ work because the cliffhanger LITERALLY has her saying "Which one indeed"
Either release the next book or give an epilogue in a short please!
The second book of this series ends in a less dramatic cliff hanger than the first, but it is still an anxiety inducing one. The book deals with a lot of heavy issues, but isn't preachy and doesn't turn the characters into unbelievable paragons of emotional maturity. It kept me up later than I should have been to leep reading, and I woke up early so I could finish before work, which should say enough about how interesting it is.
This is the best modern Cinderella series I've ever read. It's terribly real & gritty but it addresses real painful issues & shows love can contour all. Now it's starting to get hot & she needs to enjoy all those boys in every way hehe as she busts out as a new superstar
Persisted with this out of curiosity as I do like a good reverse harem. This however just stretched too far. Plot was too far fetched for me and not enough depth to the characters to engage me. Reverse harem need good, engaging relationships between the individuals to gain any credibility and the female lead just felt like a wet lettuce
I'm hooked. I couldn't put it down. A few errors with spelling, and switching names in both books but easy to overlook because you can't wait to find out what happens next.
I adore this series. I would recommend for young adults and up.Can't wait for more from this author! Very loveable characters and addictive story. Fans of C.L. Stone should definitely read. :):):)
Book 2 was just as great as book 1. There was drama, action and even a bit of romance. Again my only problem is that the way the book ends leads you to want to read book 3 which isn't a bad thing until I found out that there is NO book 3 yet!! UGGHHHH!!
Things pick up right were book one felt off. I really enjoy these characters. The romance is still a slow burn as she gets to know the guys. It ends on a little bit of a cliffhanger. Not as bad as book one but still leaving the reader wanting more.
What a great follow up to the first of this series. I really enjoyed it and look forward to what comes next. A few minor grammar and spelling errors, but it doesn't detract from the story whatsoever. A great read!
this series seems pretty cute and im pretty disappointed that the author didn’t continue it. but also at the same time, it’s not really anything special per se. it definitely gives off ghost bird series
Great potential in this series. I was looking forward to continuing. Super bummed it was abandoned. Had an okay conclusion I guess, but left a ton of questions unanswered.
* gained for: "The book caught my interest in first five pages."
* gained for: "I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society."
* gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I want more!" (And, yeah!, it didn't end on a cliffhanger!)
The novel failed to gain stars for these items:
NO STAR gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story." (Less mistakes than the first novel for sure, but still were a lot of copy edit mistakes. A lot of quotation mistakes and a few times where the guys' names were incorrect.)
NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author I will automatically buy anything s/he writes." (I'll buy the next one when it comes out because I like these characters and the story, but not hooked on author yet. Let's hope the next one will have even less mistakes.)
In the second book of this series, Melody is trying to get away from her kidnappers. She doesn't want to go to where ever they are taking her, and she's bound and determined to get back to her guys.
But, that may be easier said than done. And all of the guys are going out of their minds with worry for her, and what will happen next. They must work together to help get her back before it is too late.
This book was not as good as I was hoping it would be. I still liked it, and I enjoyed the plot line and characters. But, the main thing that annoyed me was how the guys kept thinking it wasn't a good idea for the reverse-harem thing. I figured since they almost lost Melody twice, that it would have opened their eyes, however, that didn't seem to be the case.
I'm hoping more comes out about it in the next book, but we shall see.
After waiting for what seemed forever for this second book, I was afraid I might be disappointed. However, it was a good sequel; fast paced and nicely written. It could have used more editing as there were several typos. And I wish it had been longer. The character development is a bit slow, but the author is nicely balancing the 5 guys. All in all this book was better than the first. I believe the author is improving as the story progresses.
I liked the focus on the human trafficking. Sex slavery is a thriving business ruining young lives every day. If an entertaining book can draw attention to the evils of this world, it's win-win.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what is in store for Melody and the guys in the future. Hopefully, the next book will be out in a mater of months, not years!
