A interactive way of presenting a traditional tale. What is great about Tucker's book is that unlike the traditional version, Goldilocks is a girl of Afro - Caribbean descent with golden dreadlocks.

Bright and colourful illustrations, along with flaps on each page engage the reader no matter what age.

Goldilocks is the traditional tale told in a contemporary verse. It is a detailed, lift-the-flap, rhyming retell of the story. Unlike the traditional version, Goldilocks is a little girl of Afro-Caribbean descent with golden dreadlocks. Whilst the three bears are out for a walk, Goldilocks woops with joy at the prospect of being able to snoop around their house.

What I like about this book foremost are the bright and colourful illustrations that fill every page. They really bring the story to life. The text follows an ABCB rhyming pattern, which adds to the rhythm of the text and helps to keep the audience engaged. Finally, I like the features of the flaps to make the story interactive and how Goldilocks’ pops out at the end of the book when she is running away.

This book is suitable for an Early Years, KS1 or SEN classroom. The text although detailed can be simplified and the illustrations can support an early understanding of the story. It would make a great story time book or a focus of a lesson when you are looking at traditional tales or naming characters. Due to its repetitiveness, it could also be used to support early counting skills. The children can be encouraged to count the number of bowls, chairs and beds.

I am going to give this book four stars due to its colourful illustrations and imaginative retelling of a classic fairy-tale.

Florence loves porridge so what better story. She loves the flaps and the hidden big, medium, and small things - Daddy always gets the biggest so that's good too.

When the owners went out of a walk inside the house comes Goldilocks that causes many troubles. A funny book with flaps to lift on every page that children enjoy.
