I'm in my 40's now, and finally living my lifelong dream of loving all my jobs. I still work in psychology, I farm, I write--and I have a blast.
I'm southern by birth, and I've lived in the south most of my life. My foothill farm is beautiful, and I couldn't ask for a better place to live or write. I find inspiration, peace, joy, and beauty in my family, my home, the woods, and the love of all my many animals. And I do have a lot of animals. I mean, a lot. Dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, peafowl, guineas, ducks, geese, and oh, yeah--a parrot. Who is a perfect parrot-pain, but I do love him.
Urban fantasy, high fantasy, futuristic science fiction, and historical fantasy are my favorite genres to write or to read. I write almost every day, and I try to finish at least one manuscript every few months. In between time spent practicing psychology, writing, tending the animals, and spending time with my family, I also try to dedicate a few hours to playing my guitar and piano, photography, playing video games, watching old movies, and walking.
I'm thrilled to be able to write, and thrilled that readers enjoy my stories. Thank you for stopping by my site, for meeting me--and most of all, thanks for reading! I'd love to hear from you, and I'd love to know what you think about my books.
This is a continuation of Bound by Shadow. I didn't find it as riveting as the first book, but the style is the same, and the plot is just as interesting. I didn't find myself as invested in the characters, though, which is a shame.
Synopsis The Sibyls are facing their most dangerous foe yet in the form of a demonic power bent on garnering political power. It will take everything that air Sibyl, Merilee Alexander and her OCU partner, Jake Lowell have to defeat this evil enemy but in order to do so they must first come to terns with the secrets and the desires between them.
Review A sweet romance and an action packed plot with a climax of epic proportions.
Despite the common threads linking the books in this series, each has its own storyline and their is no repetition or rehashing of previous plot points. We do get updates on the goings on in Riana, Cynda and Andy's lives, which is very entertaining.
Jake and Merilee are wonderful together and their abilities are complimentary, which adds another layer to their romance. Merilee is courageous, loyal and certainly knows how to kick-butt. Nevertheless, it is Jake's story that is truly gripping.
Jake is the most enigmatic and mysterious of the Lowell demon brothers and his internal struggle with his dual human\Astorath identity is the main focus of his character development. If he wishes to protect Merilee and survive the upcoming battle with the diabolical villain, then he must learn to embrace all aspects of his personality.
The villain is the most threatening in the series thus far and his agenda made my skin crawl. The manner in which he ultimately receives his just rewards is very satisfying.
The next trilogy focuses on a new Sibyl trio and I look forward to reading their books.
Admittedly, this book was written 5 years after I was born and I’m typically the kind of picky person that needs something written recently, old books for the most part don’t intrigue me. Alas, I was on a bit of a ‘connect with my roots’ vibe a couple weeks ago and hit up my local used book store and COULD NOT put this guy down. Went back and bought bound by flame, but have yet to get a hold of Bound by Shadow. Reading out of turn but it seems like it doesn’t matter TOO much as the books are centered around separate recurring characters. The spice warrants some trigger warnings for some (not me it was kind of a welcome surprise) Jake is a dream- understands boundaries immediately after Merilee sets them (to an extent ;)) The world building- from this sliver of Anna Windsor’s stories seems top tier, she explains things that might have been told in previous books enough that I feel up to speed. It’s amazing!!
This is the third book of the first series. As when they were first released they were released as two series. A wonderful story. Can the Triad save him and at what cost? Brilliantly executed and I love the interaction between the characters. For anyone into paranormal, magic, dark fantasy, romance and mysteries. A must read!
Whew! What a cataclysmic ending to the 'Dark Crescent Sisterhood' series by Anna Windsor. "Bound by Light" is the story of the last of the triad and the most mysterious of the demon brothers.
As the broom of her triad, Merilee is used to being the clean-up crew and she's certainly seen some horrible things. But none of that explains why lately she's have nightmarish dreams and visions of death and destruction. She'd much rather be dreaming about the hunky demon brother standing in front of her in just a towel!!
Jake wants Merilee every bit as much as he's sure he can't have her. He's determined to live as a human but can never forget that he's a demon. He refuses to endanger Merilee especially when it's hard to control himself once he's near her.
But these two have WAY more to worry about. There's something B-A-D headed their way...and it's got its eye on Merilee.
Huge, colossal, big finish. Saving the world was never so fun...or so darn hot. What those demon brothers can do when they change only certain parts of their bodies...excuse me while I have a smoke!
This book is amazing. I loved that the characters from the other books are involved so much in the rest of the characters stories. I completely fell in love with Jake and Merilee. The babies were so cute. I think that this book tied up the trilogy very well, although I'm sad to see Sal go, Andy did come into her own. She was hilarious before in her robes, but now she really owns it, without losing her character. I loved the strong sense of family that went through these books. The Sybils captivated me. The strength and devotion, the loyalty and the love was wonderful. I like seeing powerful female roles in things. I loved seeing the mothers again, and the fact that Jake is so close with them. You get to really meet Mother Anemone in this novel, which I also liked. The Keres were interesting to say the least. I really enjoyed their role in the book. I think that the other Asteroths were wonderful additions too. Definitely 5 for 5 recommended. This was an intricately woven story. Probably my favorite so far. I can't wait to read more of the series. :)

This is my favorite book in the Dark Crescent Sisterhood series so far. I loved Merilee, I love that she's intelligent, funny, loving and brave. I'm an Air sign myself so I guess that's another reson I feel akin to her. And Jake is such a perfect match for her. I was skeptical at first about them ending up together since this is now the third Lowell brother ending up with a Sybil form the same triad but it worked out so perfectly...eventually. It's definitely not smooth sailing for them though. There's alot they have to overcome both in their relationship and with the new threat they have to deal with. This time the Sybils and the OCU are up againt their most powerful, evil foe yet. Another thing I liked about this book is that we get the POV of this villain. There's alot of loss that the Sybils and OCU undergo as well but I find that pain and suffering in neccessary to make a story more believable. I also love that the characters are so strong, even when faced with the end of the world (literally) they forge ahead and never give up.
So, My thoughts on this book, is that I love The name. Bound by light, how beautiful is that, right?
Secondly the characters have a lot of spice, which I love. I love how Jake is so different, and how his lack of knowledge is so plain to see with the 'Tarzan' quote.
The desire in the book was fiery, the awareness they had between them, and trust. I like that between characters who are warriors.
I absolutely love the Story line, The Idea of Sybils is great and it keeps the reader wanting more, without indulging them with too much sex, it gives you plenty of action, without that 'action'.
I also believe that the sex scenes were very steamy and very well thought out, I loved the last couple of pages. I'm sure plenty of people have had that fantasy, no doubt.
All in all, I think this series is a great read, it gives you a lot of action, without it all being about sex. Which is something I have to respect in a writer, they don't need sex to keep the reader interested.
Definitely better than the first two... I couldn't put this book down. This book is the last in the trilogy, all about the third sister, Merilee, who is an air Sybil. Her Sybil sisters, Cynda and Riana, both found true love in the first two books, and now it is her turn.
There were twists I didn't expect and a very god plot. I don't want to give anything away and spoil it for those who have not read the book yet. However, I will say that for me it was a real page turner.
Read the first two, and then this one. Don't read them out of order... you need the info from the first two books to know what is going on in this one.
The conclusion to this series actually worked the least for me although not because it was a bad book. Nick and Cynda definitely had chemistry and I liked him telling off the Mothers who had the nerve to sneer at him after he had helped save them... But eventually it does work out although a lot of good people are killed. The plot introduced in the first book - the death and transformation of Creed and Nick's brother - is resolved. The fourth element of the Sisterhood is reborn...
Order REALLY matters with this series...
Dark Crescent Sisterhood:
1 Bound by Shadow 2 Bound by Flame 3 Bound by Light
I give this book 3.5 stars. I really liked Jake a lot more than Merilee. He's sort of a tortured soul. Merilee's the normal sassy gal that you find in most stories so nothing really new or special. This is the first book I've read in the series. Like usual, I bought a huge lot of books and this was in there. From reading about the other women in this triad, I'm not sure I would like the other books, but who know.
A nice ending to the trilogy. As the series went on the books also got better. I think there's another trilogy after this one that has characters from a different Sybil Triad, but my library doesn't have the books. Oh well.
This book was about Jake and Merilee. I liked the two together, they had some nice romantic elements, there was a nice amount of action and I liked that the previous characters were still in this book. Overall, a good book.
This is my favorite of the Dark Crescent Sisterhood series thus far. Jake is a much more developed character than his brothers, and he's far more interesting and sexy, too. You also get more bang for your buck with this one, since the plot has more going on than the first books. The situation is rather dire for the Sibyls, which makes this one hard to put down. There's love, there's pain, there's violence and magic. What's not to love?
Book 3 in the Dark Crescent Sisterhood series. Well, the author manages to tie up all the loose ends in this book, bringing this trilogy within a larger series to a close. Yes, book 4 begins another trilogy. It's still a standard Paranormal Romance storyline except that both main characters are supernatural beings. Hot sex but not porn. I already own the next book but I'm going to read some others before going back to this world.
I absolutely loved this book. Jake is a tortured hero who has to fight for everything he has and Merilee is strong, fierce heroine. I love the concept of the Sybil triad and think Ms. Windsor did a terrific job of world-building. This is the conclusion of the trilogy but not the series conclusion. Since the big baddie is defeated in this one, I wonder what's next for the Dark Crescent Sisterhood.
OMG, absolutly LOVED this book! ~SPOILERS!!~ I was sooo glad that Jake put aside his arrogance and got together with Merilee. It kinda made me mad that he pushed her away for so long, at the end the suspence almost killed me with the monster and whether Jake and Merilee would live...but they did soo it was an awesome book!!
the final book - and everything does tend to wrap up very well. Again - this book is different enough and developed enough from the other two to make the trilogy interesting. Merilee is a great character but it's really Jacob who goes through the personal journey of discovery to balance his "good" and "bad" sides that make the characters come to life. All around - a good series.
The third book in the series, and enjoyable as the first 2. The male lead is a bit more complex, and we learned more about their paranormal world. It didn't feel like a re-hash of the first two, as often happens with series. Most of the same characters, but from the Air Sybil's perspective this time.
I really liked this one :) Jake is such a great character and Merlilee was believable--their relationship and it's evolution was nicely done. I also enjoyed Andy's development, though we didn't really -see- it per say. I'm hoping to see more of her :) He overarching storyline is also developing into a much richer experience, which I like.
Okay, these books definitely improved with time. I think I'm keeping them but I'm not sure I'm going to keep up with the series. We'll see; maybe if I get bored :)
This story had the most emotional connection with the main couple (probably because the story built up from previous books). This was a great way to end the "sisters'" story.
The D.C.S. was fun to meet ! And quite sexy. Good 'Old Country' roots to start. When it really was good vs. evil. Not good vs. politically correct. Please write some more Dark Cresent Sisterhood adventures ! Thank you
Started out slow, but then picked up. Jake hasn't been my favorite male in the series, I liked Nick the best, so that my skew my view a little bit. Whiz bang ending though. I liked it.
