It’s frightening to lose your memory. Even scarier is to forget what’s at stake. Federal prosecutor Eve Eriksson disappears under mysterious circumstances and shows up a year later in a coma. What happened, and where has she been? She can’t remember, and her life is in jeopardy. Four people are hunting her down. Three claim to have been stranded on an island with her. The fourth is her old nemesis, Chicago drug lord Danny Romero, who still wants her dead. Jake Chalmers is shocked to discover his fiancé is a federal prosecutor. Why did she hide this from him on the island, and who is going to such great lengths to prevent their reunion? If she doesn’t regain her memory, he’ll be thrown into prison for murder.
What I found most interesting in this book, is that a helluva lot happens in quick succession, and yet it doesn't feel rushed. Similarly, there are periods when time moves on, and it doesn't feel like the authors had ran out of things to say so jumped to the next bit of action. It's very well written.
Forgotten starts with Eve waking up in a hospital, having been in some kind of accident. Outside waking for her are Jake, Betty and Crystal, who survived a whole year with Eve on a jungle island. Jake then gets taken to one side and informed that Eve has been arrested for murder. It's not long, however, before the tables have turned and it is Jake that gets imprisoned and the only person who can save him has lost her memory of the entire year.
I really liked this book, and couldn't put it down. There is such a lot going on (and it spans several years), but as I said before, it does not feel rushed, rather the passage of time is natural. The topics within this book include survival, murder, human trafficking, spies, revenge, justice, forgiveness, love and probably more too. It is packed.
Definitely one to read if you have a few hours spare!
After reading the 1st half of the book, I was certain that this time I got lucky with a great 5 star book. Although it is a direct continuation from the book “Stranded”, the author does help us with understanding what happened prior to the events described in the current book. But then, the book turns into an unreliable story. Something that does not make sense at all. It gets to the point that it becomes another book describing with tiring details the where about of our main hero. No surprises here, All is very predictable, same incidents you read about in thousands other books. The last 20% I just lost it starting to read the first sentence in each paragraph, and believe me I lost nothing. I was sure able to flow the story. I give it 2 stars since I was able to finish the book. For the life of me I can’t understand why the book was getting such a high mark. 120 ratings and only 12 reviews?. How come? If the book was that good, where are all the ratings?
This review is to cover both “Stranded”, and “Forgotten”. I’ve read other reviews where Forgotten is favored over that of Stranded. I’m just the opposite. While the characters themselves carry both stories, the scene settings and action make Stranded my favorite. Forgotten has more emphasis on the Christian Perception, where almost every action is detailed and analyzed; which interrupts the flow way way too much. I don’t mind the Christian influence, I just don’t like feeling that the reader is being beaten over the head with it. Jake in Forgotten, is an over-the-top Christian; so much that a lot of his actions, or non-actions are unbelievable. The forces of evil influences against Jake, are almost that of Job. Because of Betty, and Eve’s amnesia I found Forgotten to be almost depressing. So much so, that I will likely NOT read an expected 3rd installment. Just too much Drama.
This story gripped me from the very beginning. The real ness of each characters human frail ness and emotions matched with their leaning on God for strength was so great and their desire for revenge and justice was so relatable. The suspense and angst kept me reading into the night. Couldn’t put it down. A must read!
Both books kept me fascinated. Stranded on an island after the boat sank, and now a main character wakes up with no memory of the event not of the gangsters that tried to kill her. Crank. It out, authors, we need more engaging and wholesome books like these!
These two books, I enjoyed very much. Jake takes his wife on her last adventure to spend time together, because she is dying. Little did they know that her life was going to be taken from her, and her husband along with 3 others would make it through the open ocean and get" Stranded" on an island for 1 year.
Wow! Even this story had some really hard parts to read (I actually put it down for a day) but my need to know what would happen over ruled my dislike for the borrows and I continued reading. The spiritual growth of the main characters was inspiring and the surprise at the end was awesome as well as the happy ending.
This is the sequel to Stranded and is almost as good! Not as many adventures, but definitely enough to keep the book interesting enough that it was hard to put down. Really enjoyed this two book series!
I have read a lot of novels but this one is one of the best. A great combination of intrigue, adventure, rich characters and drama and a touch of faith.
Great second book in this series tied up all the answers from STRANDED.lots of twists and turns to keep my interest .will look for more my these author's.
a long ways to go to healing! The Prichards have done it again, in this nicely written sequel to their first book, "Stranded." Fans of "Stranded" won't be disappointed by this follow-up book, and new readers of the Prichards won't be disappointed, either, as there's enough back-story, here, to enjoy this as a stand-alone read. I would suggest, however, that both books are well worth reading, and if you decide to do this, reading them in order would be the best way to go. All-in-all, an enjoyable book, and a great sequel!
The gripping suspense had me feeling edgy most of the time. Also, the romance begun in the first book looked like it was doomed to be replaced by another in this sequel and I was ready to berate the authors for that tension; but, this husband and wife team are so good at writing both the male and female points of view that I forgave them. This can be read as a stand alone book but it is so much better to read it as a sequel (I recommend soon) after reading "Stranded" first.
Forgotten is another can't-put-down read from Don & Stephanie Prichard. The authors take their multi-faceted characters on individual adventures, putting each of them through the grinder. One second you're cheering for them, the next you're pleading with them to do the right thing, and then you're shouting "Watch your back!" While this story picks up where Stranded left off, Forgotten can be read as a standalone. But do yourself a favor and read both books.
Suspense grabs atyou from the first word and keeps you going to the last one. I enjoyed the various characters and the storyline. My favorite quote was " I have a Savior who loves me and gives me the freedom to put the past behind me. This book can be read as a stand alone but reading the first book Stranded gives an added dimension to the characters.
Was a little slow starting but the more you invested God's Spirit into the story the better it became until you wrote, speaking as the Holy Spirit, "Beloved I've got your back". That put the book at the top of my good book list. The helper Christ promised is alive and well in this story. A very good read, couldn't put it down.
What a great story! I really enjoyed spending more time with these characters and seeing what happened after the island. I sure hope that there's more books coming from this pair of talented story tellers!
FORGOTTEN by Don and Stephanie Prichard. Two book story, yet, can be read alone. Eve in an induced coma, Jake doesn't want to leave her. Detective says three days, Jake has to return to the island, or else the Detective will use other means. They are telling him about Eve, can it be her, they say there is a BOLO out for her, and now this. A gripping thriller from beginning to end, that won't disappoint readers,
