3D printing continues to advance, and will increasingly facilitate low-run, customized, on-demand and material-efficient manufacturing. Already 3D printed metal and plastic parts are being fitted into products that range from jet engines to medical devices and personalized shoes. Barnatt offers a vision op that I want to happen, at least for the most part. My favorite prediction, and one that I think will come to pass - use of 3D bio printing to treat burns and replace organs.

If you have never read anything about 3D printing there is some useful information here but it is really dated.
