I like this series of devotionals, and have been reading them over the past couple of years. They aren’t particularly deep or theologically meaningful, but they are inspirational and appropriate for we “regular folk” who just want a nice little devotional to read each day.
In the midst of natural disasters, such as hurricanes and fire ("Fire and Rain," by James Taylor, anyone?), and the political upheaval, the threat of North Korea, and our country's impending civil war...it is SO easy to get caught up in the negativity and fall prey to the mindset. This book is needed by many people, our family included, to re-center the spirit on a daily basis. Not turning on the news, and staying ignorant, is not a healthy option; but neither is succumbing. We must remember to find our blessings and live joyfully, and this is a wonderful book to help you do just that. Each day offers up a new, short (and thereby completely doable) opportunity for reflection and spirit re-centering. The devotionals are calming and help the reader to reconnect with the inner spirit. If you, or someone you love, is caught up in the madness that we call life today, this is a great, and economical, gift of love.
This encouraging devotional is designed to help the reader find joy and live a more joyful life. In today’s society, it’s easy to lose focus and become fearful or negative. This book and its readings could help the reader shift their focus and regain that joy. While the book could be enjoyed by anyone, it does seem to have a focus that would appeal more to women.
Each reading, which is set up by the calendar year, contains a verse, message, and prayer. There is a ribbon bookmark, which is quite convenient. The readings are short, making them easy to fit into a busy day.
First of all, this book is adorable, definitely the cutest devotional book I’ve owned. It’s a nice, compact size with a ribbon bookmark, bright colors, and bicycles on the end pages. It even has yellow flowers on each page. Each devotion is dated, which helps the reader to easily keep track and read through it in a year.
The devotions are quick to read but meaningful. They are thought provoking and include a verse of scripture and a final thought. I love this book for my morning devotions. I can grab it before my feet hit the floor and read through one in less than 5 minutes. It is also great for those days when you may not have time to spend a lot of time in the word.
I would recommend this book as a gift…it’s so pretty and would delight any recipient.
My Rating: 4.5 stars
I received this book from Booklook Bloggers to review. My opinions are my own.
I tend to get bogged down in the day to day, letting it overwhelm me until I forget the purpose and blessings of my life. These moments with Him in this dear little book are the perfect focusing tool whether I use them first thing in the morning, just before I sleep, or when I need an afternoon rejuvenation. Even looking at the cover is sometimes enough to just put my day back on track!
