Popular national radio host Julie Roys rejects both fundamentalist caricature and feminist distortion to reveal God’s amazingly relevant and compelling vision for women, showing them how to redeem their feminine souls and become all God designed them to be. Christian women today feel torn between the demands of motherhood, career, and ministry—and by a church that gives them conflicting ideas of what it means to be a woman. In Redeeming the Feminine God’s Surprising Vision for Womanhood , popular national radio host Julie Roys reveals the stunning truth that no one else is talking women are destroying themselves. Internalizing society’s devaluation of the feminine, some women are killing their own natural impulses to pursue a feminist ideal that bears no relation to God’s good design. Other women struggle to conform to a fundamentalist, feminine caricature, which requires denying their full humanity and gifting. Defying both feminists and fundamentalists, Julie Roys reveals God’s true, affirming, and compelling vision for women, showing them how to reclaim what is uniquely feminine, and become healthy, balanced women of God.
Let me start out by saying, How has no one ever touched this information before? How is this the first time in my nearly 30 years, after growing up in the church, that I am finding any of this out? My mind is struggling to wrap itself around this fact.
The biblical truth Julie Roys presents in this book is mind-blowing and frankly, such a relief. I cried so many times reading this. She goes into detail about her struggles from childhood through parenthood and adulthood. She shares her struggles with being feminine and what that means for Christian women and women in general. I wish so much that I could memorize every word of this book because just knowing these things is helping me and could help so many other women who are struggling.
Julie Roys points you to Christ and God's Word throughout the whole book and she makes you want to dig deeper in scripture so that you can know God more intimately. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars because it is deserving of more than that. God has used her to share His truth with us and I am so thankful that she has listened to Him and grown so much in her faith that she was able to write this thought provoking book.
I recommend this to everyone whether male or female.
I’m newly acquainted with Julie and her work. She is a careful writer and thinker in general, but especially with regard to her Christian faith. I don’t know what I was expecting when I began this book, but I found several new and thoroughly biblical concepts. Julie is open about her personal growth and kind, yet firm, about what Scripture reveals on sexual identity, femininity, and how God’s image is mirrored. She leaves me with much to think about.
