Basically, this is an updated version of work that Adams and his Continuity Studios did back in the 1970s. My suggestion: Stick with the oriignal.

Adams strength was his rendering. The updated version includes too much digital falderal that impedes the dynamic illustrating. Though, this is not Adams & Co. best work. As Adams was fully able to redraw weak parts of the story, it's too bad he didn't.

The plot is shaky. The written execution is not very good. I noticed this when I read it some 40 years ago. Again, the updated version could've cleaned up the dialogue.

Overall, this new version is fine for the Adams completest, but for the casual reader, stick with the original.

Bottom line: I don't recommend this book. 4 out of ten points.

Later-day Neal Adams is generally a madcap romp, and this is no exception. Frankenstein's nephew and his fiancé are fleeing the angry villagers and get saved--by Count Dracula. Bats wants a new monster for his bodyguard, but it goes wrong (natch) and the woman is killed. But that's okay, she's bitten by a werewolf as she dies, because of course, right? That sets the stage for a monster battle royale and one strange happy-ish ending.

Oh Neal, you have quite the brain.

The art's as good as you'd expect, even if the dialogue is a little wonky. Still, a ton of fun I picked up for next to nothing.

Great art by one of the greats.

A fast-moving, action-packed story that brings together dracula, Frankenstein and the wolf man. Neal’s inspirations included the universal & hammer horror films and this feels like a comic book version of one of those movies. It’s simple but entertaining. Adams makes charming use of old style captions in the mode of 70s horror comics like swamp thing or tomb of Dracula throughout.

The one negative is the atrocious digital coloring from the photoshop airbrush era.

On the whole this is a quick and fun read. Highly recommended!

Wonderful stuff from one of the masters. I can't help but feeling that it just wasn't made fresh or accessible enough by today's standards and felt like it probably would have faired better in 1985 or something. It was good, but kind of average.
