Tracey West is the New York Times bestselling author of Dragon Masters, a series in the Scholastic Branches line. She has written more than 400 books for kids, including the Pixie Tricks series and the Underdogs series with Kyla May.

Some readers also know Tracey for writing books based on animation such as Pokémon and LEGO Ninjago.

She currently lives in the western Catskills of New York with her husband, Bill; their adopted dogs; and a whole mess of chickens.

Just fun and entertaining for my kids. It captures the essence of each character really well! And I try to do all the voices which my kids think is hilarious so this is giving me cool mom points!

It was really cool because Ash beat Drake and he was the first person in the whole wide world and he couldn’t believe it because Drake was the champions cup. Ash’s Pokémon prints even went on display and him and his Pokémon went on display because they got a selfie. Ash’s Pikachu beat a dragonite and it’s really hard to beat a dragonite and in the book it was a legendary that no one had beaten and Ash beat him for the first time in the whole wide world in the Championship round. My favourite thing was that Ash worked really hard to defeat Dragonite and that was good because if you work hard you can get better.

He has to defeat Ditto first and it was really hard because ditto just transformed into Pikachu. But Ash had an idea that when they collided together at the end Ditto could not be like Pikachu because he wasn’t ready and he’d never done that before.

When the Pokémon cartoon was at the height of its popularity in the States, a bunch of books were published as well that more or less follow the series. Thundershock in Pummelo Stadium follows Ash on the Orange Islands, a series I'm not all the familiar with. According to Amazon.com, it is the 16th book in the Pokémon chapter books adapted by Tracey West.

Ash has one more badge to win before he can join the Orange Islands league and battle in the league wide competition. Thundershock covers the last badge and his competition in the Winner's Cup on Pummelo island.

There are some side plots involving a quest for an antidote to Vileplume stun spores and some brief interference from Team Rocket. Ultimately though the book focuses on the full battle (all six pokémon taking turns).

If you're not a regular player of the games or fan of the dubbed series, this book can be skipped. If you are a fan of either the series or the games, give the book a go. It's short and entertaining for what it is.
