Extremely interesting book of facts about and relating to death. I found it in the bargain section of a local bookstore for $5, and it was $5 well-spent. If you love fact books and have a healthy (or unhealthy) morbid obsession, I recommend checking this one out. My only complaint is that there was a brief passage of text missing...a paragraph started in the middle of a sentence, but I was able to deduce what it might have said. It just threw me off for a minute. All in all, great book.
I believe that this book has wonderful information if one is curious about what can kill us and felt almost like a fast read. The only reason why I gave this book 4 instead of 5 stars is that it seems like there are noticeable grammatical errors and particularly page 145. On page 145, at the top, has a small part of an end of a paragraph that I believe was to continue a page that was to be originally there or a page was deleted in the revision process and the rest of the paragraph wasn’t edited out that was on the next page. Though, I don’t know if this flaw was only in my book or it’s in all of them. Other than that, this book has a lot of useful information and was also entertaining.
This was one of the most fun and informational books I’ve read in a looooong time.
My favorite chapters included the “consciousness after decapitation” discussion and the pros and cons list of which legal execution to pick if you get put on death row.
Now I basically have tons of “fun facts” to whip out at parties.
Its interesting for those curious. Some noticeable grammatical errors, the last third of the book doesn't necessarily focus on what can kill us but instead on morbidity in general and some sections have conjectures instead of evidence or studies. Its not a great read but is relatively quick.
Hilarious and informative. Great for answering questions you might not dare ask, research, or just for laughs. All the information is well researched and clearly presented.
