What would it take for you to make a change? Weight loss can sometimes be a very self-focused endeavor. Maybe you have struggled with your weight your entire life, riding a constant roller coaster of numbers that go up and down. Or maybe you are finding yourself more stressed out by the world and all its demands. Perhaps you just don't feel as well in your body as you do in your spirit.
In The Wellness Revelation, certified fitness professional Alisa Keeton will challenge you to get fit with God so that He can free you to complete your purpose. She teaches that when we get fit physically as well as spiritually, we will be better equipped to love and serve others. The Wellness Revelation will change the way you perceive yourself and the way that you live your life.
Each week in this eight-week journey includes a teaching from Alisa, weekly assignments, Bible study, small-group questions, and more. Alisa will encourage you to love God, get healthy, and serve others; and she will provide you with the tools to spread the gospel with courage, confidence, kindness, and freedom.
Alisa Keeton is a wholehearted pursuer of God’s love. After more than twenty-five years as a fitness professional, Alisa felt God leading her to bring fresh meaning to the world of health and fitness. At first she resisted, but eventually she got on her knees, rolled up her sleeves, and followed His call. In 2011, she launched Revelation Wellness. This nonprofit ministry uses fitness as a tool to spread the gospel message, inviting participants to become whole and live well. The Revelation Wellness instructor training program equips and sends out “fitness missionaries” throughout the United States and around the world, while RevWell TV brings faith-based online workouts and resources to anyone with Internet access. Alisa lives in Phoenix with her husband, Simon, and their two children, Jack and Sophia. As a family, they are on mission to change the world with the kind and courageous love of God.
This book is unlike any other. It is filled with so many knowledge bombs. It is so much more than just a book. It's a Bible Study, it's a way to lose weight, and not just the physical weight, but the weight of life and how we deal with it, it has workouts, it's about being free from what holds you back, it's about God's love for you and how to peel away layers of pain, idols, or whatever it is that is stopping you from being whole. I just can't say enough about this book. Alisa Keeton is the real deal. She speaks from her heart. Jesus us the real "cure", but Alisa's book is also a cure to help guide you to seeing whatever strongholds you have that is keeping you from being healthy and whole spiritually, mentally, and physically.
The aim of this book is to help us get on a path to health and wholeness, to renew our whole person, inside and out. It is an eight week journey in which Keeton teaches mostly about our relationship with God and gives a little nutritional information. The idea is for us to develop our own fitness and nutrition plan from the bits of information given.
Keeton lays the foundation of seeking God first. The issue is deeper than food so she spends most of her writing on the spiritual aspect of our lives. She writes about fasting and its benefits. She informs us about nutrition in week three and suggests a detox fast (sugar, white flour, alcohol). Week four addresses activity after another spiritual lesson. The rest of the weeks have a spiritual emphasis.
This is a book for people who are serious about changing their life, both spiritually and physically. Keeton has us starting the program by signing a contract with God. This is serious business and requires a commitment to do the work. Keeton does not give a specific diet nor a prescribed exercise routine so we need to be self starters to make this program effective. Workout videos are available at the Revelation Wellness website.
The material in this book is really nothing new. I have seen it many times before in books for Christians on establishing a healthy lifestyle. I think the strength of this book is the material at the end of each chapter. Questions are included for use by individuals or in a group. A Renew section emphasizes spiritual questions. The Relate questions helps apply the information in the chapter to our daily lives. There is also a success story included. Those aspects of the book would make it a good choice for a small group study.
Keeton quotes a study that says in 2014 it was determined that seventy percent of Americans were overweight. If you are one of them and are ready to make the commitment to renew your spiritual life as a foundation to recreating yourself physically, this book has some information and lots of encouragement to get you on your way.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
How would your life be different if you could lose what’s weighing you down and be free to live the life you were created for?
That’s just one of the tantalizing questions that Alisa Keeton, the founder of the Christian-based program Revelation Wellness, asks you to consider as you begin your 8-week journey through The Wellness Revelation – a new book that challenges us to approach our health, fitness and weight loss goals in a new and revolutionary way!
The Wellness Revelation “was designed to enable you to develop fitness and nutrition plans that work for your life as you draw closer to the One who made you. As you seek God first, all the food- and fitness-related details will fall into place.”
The book is structured as an 8-week program with weekly readings and activities that are designed to get us into God’s Word and shift our thoughts and focus from ourselves and our problems onto others and God. In the process, we’ll receive guidance, tips, and tools on diet and fitness so that we can develop plans that work for us, without needing to adhere to rigid diet and exercise plans.
What I like about The Wellness Revelation is that the author recognizes that God created us as body, soul and spirit, and she addresses the process of transformation on all three levels in this book.
If you are looking for a health-based weight loss book that invites the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit into your transformational journey, then The Wellness Revelation is a great resource you won’t want to miss!

If you life has been mastered by your health and fitness goals, this book is for you. If these are not your struggles but you know someone who has them, this book is for them...so hook them up!!! Find truth and life and freedom among these pages....I have. This is a game changer!!
I am a diet book junkie. I've read, what seems to be, almost every new book on the subject. When the opportunity came to read The Wellness Revelation I jumped at it. Alisa Keeton has hit the nail on the head in this book. The nail? Dieting is more than food. I've read a lot of books about diet and exercise but, this is the first time I've read from cover to cover without trying to find the food plan chapter first. Interestingly, she doesn't really give a food plan. A list of foods that are healthy for us, yes. But not a specific plan. The same goes for exercise...just do it!
Here are 8 concepts from the book. (There are many more, but you'll have to read it yourself to find out.)
A healthy body is not all about the food you put in it. Wellness encompasses every aspect of our lives. Health focused goals such as, lower blood pressure, less processed food, controlling sugar intake, are as important (or maybe more so) as pounds lost or miles run. God created every part of the world we live in, including us. The way we take care of ourselves, or not, shows how we feel about Him. We have to be aware that diet, exercise, and a variety of things that seem to be good for our body can also become bondage. It can kill us if we aren't careful. We are accountable and have the total responsibility of keeping these bodies we've been given in a healthy state. There is no good reason to be more or less than who we are. Prayer and meditation are part of a healthy life-style. This book is a powerful tool in coming to grips with weight-loss and personal health. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to become what God wants us to be in all aspects of our lives.
Blessings to you and yours!
Marie

This book changed me. And it keeps changing me. I’ve never seen a book help so many people get free. But only if you let it get into you. It will be hard, but so very worth the freedom it brings. Get free. Stay free. Set others free.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if an eight-week journey could help you physically and spiritually? Alisa Keeton, a certified fitness professional, challenges us to get fit with God. Her eight-week journey includes fitness training, Bible study and small group questions, all designed to get you fit from the inside out.
While working through the book can be done on your own, having an accountability partner or group will help you finish well and reach your goals. If you have tried everything else and are ready to do something positive, “The Wellness Revelation” is a great start.
The book is just the beginning. More information is available at wellnessrevelation.org. Keeton encourages Bible study and prayer as part of your diet, exercise and weight loss plan. Only by transforming your life from the inside can true transformation happen.

No longer is weight loss about the food. Or the workouts. It's about service to God.
Rather than being all about the external things - food intake, workouts completed, pounds shed and inches lost - The Wellness Revelation is about being spiritually fit. It's about finding wholeness for your whole self.
I went in having already listened to the author, Alisa Keeton, on the Revelation Wellness Podcast. At the beginning of the HOT Texas summer, I was actually able to complete some beginning runs with a smile on my face! (Note: I am not a runner, so this was miraculous!) Anyone who can make me run with a smile on my face and not feel like I'm dying feels trustworthy. I was buoyed by Scripture and reminders of who I am as a daughter of the King.
Keeton is a certified fitness professional, and she understands that marrying our spiritual wellness with our physical wellness is what will ultimately free us to be who God designed us to be.
I'm not sure I can put into words the freedom that I have found in taking The Wellness Revelation journey. It's a book that walks you through a journey to find wholeness. But Keeton isn't just concerned about our outward and physical appearance. She wants us to find our rest in God. To find our purpose in who he created us to be. And to use fitness as the tool that gets us there.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.
This book starts in an easy, open manner. I like that the author prefaces that she isn't looking for starving individuals but ones that just want to be healthy. I love the thought that more than just weight can weigh us down. No matter what weight we are, it can never be perfect until our mindset is right. The author states that God wants 'wholeness' for us. Which is what I think we all want in life and want to feel whole. Wholeness starts first with God and then effects all other areas.
The author has broken this journey up into 8 weeks. Which is a good amount of time to learn to stick with something. Life style change can be hard enough not being dragged out.
Each week starts out with questions to answer, verses to read and even ways to pray. This book is definitely more on the devotions side of things. Basically, this is a book that works on mind, body, soul. Its a lifestyle change that isn't just for one area of your life but all.
Like with any work out/health book, what it boils down too is eating healthy and working out or doing physical activities. That's it. That is the secret. This book has some long places where it drags, but I think its helpful to those really wanting to stick with something health wise. It can get you motivated.
The Wellness Revelation by Alisa Keeton is more than just a book. It is a book, Bible study, work out program, and healthy-eating plan all rolled into one eight-week journey program.
The Wellness Revelation starts with an introduction by with Keeton explaining how she got involved in fitness, how she turned her life over to Christ, and how readers can best use this book. The book could be used with a group, alone or with a trained Revelation Wellness instructor. Each of the eight weeks takes you on a journey of holistic fitness as you renew your mind, body and spirit to better serve God. Each week's study includes the chapter of explanation on the focus of the week, a Bible study, questions to relate to and to help you to better do the program, a prayer and a real-life story of how this program has made a difference to someone. In addition to all of the help and encouragement the book has to offer, there are additional helps available on the corresponding website on line.
I thought The Wellness Revelation was a good program. For the purpose of the review, I read through the book and did not do the program entirely. I did think the study, program, fitness and dietary helps would be good for someone looking to improve their total health. According to Keeton, on page 7, "70 percent of American were overweight in 2014. " Most of us could improve on our health and use our health to better serve God and those around us. This book paired with the on-line resources could be a real help to those who want to improve their health. It is a Christian book so there are a lot of Scriptures to back up the authors point of view and to encourage Christians to live their best life all the way around. I would recommend it to all who want to live a healthier lifestyle.
I received The Wellness Revelation from Tyndale House Publishers. I was not required to write a positive review in exchange for the book.
This book radically changed my life. Alisa speaks about the heart issues we deal with that cause us to go to extremes by either obsessing about our bodies and food or neglecting our bodies and not realizing how our eating habits are affecting us.
She goes deep. It's not an easy read simply because it will make you uncomfortable and it requires you to set aside time for biblical study and journaling. It's worth every tear, every missed brunch, and every moment you invest.
We are not able to live fully free from the struggles we have carried since childhood until we address them and being them into the light. Then we can understand the ways we've been coping using substitutes for peace, love, and acceptance. Finally, we can look at our broken hearts and offer them up as a sacrifice to a loving God who will mend them. He will always draw near to us when we draw near to Him. When we invite Him into the parts of our lives we think are only our own or don't concern Him, He allows us to see that our hearts and our worries and our dreams are all within His territory and concern Him. Yea, your donut and your fitness and your salad are all part of what makes you feel in control and He'd like to show you He cares that you feel so out of control sometimes.
I can't express how much I needed and continue to need the teachings in this book. A big idea in the book is that our bodies are the way we express love and faith and they need to be strong so we can help other people and cheer others on, not so we can earn accolades from others who like our defined abs. Fitness is a way to keep this body running well as a vehicle of love and peace and not a broken down Chevy spewing toxic fumes and rattling down the road because its owner forgot to change the oil, give it a good tire rotation, fill it up with the right gas, and check the engine (My own analogy).
This book is for every BODY. Whether your Bend is to exercise every day, or to sit on the couch, or to eat for comfort, or out of obsession. It doesn't matter what your past or your present looks like, Alisa Keeton walks you through a journey of discovery.
It's a lot like heart surgery. You open the book like your initial consultation with an awareness that you think you might need this but you just aren't sure if you're ready. Are we ever really ready for open heart surgery?
Then, you begin the journey and slowly feel the great surgeon cutting into the deep places. He slowly reveals the inner chambers of our heart. With our permission and liability forms previously signed, we trust Him to do His mighty work. We are in a deep place with this surgeon. By the end of the journey, we awaken with battle scars. We have places of Revelation to share with others from our experience on the operating table. We want to tell everyone of the great success; how we can now FEEL the blood moving. Just like those who have blockage in their hearts, we leave this journey as new people. And the great Surgeon encourages us to not lose communication with Him, it's paramount to our continued healing.
I am blessed to have read this book and will reread it many more times. I look forward to leading others through the journey and seeing the healing journeys. Alisa Keeton heard from the Lord when she wrote these word, and all who read it will hear from Him, if they give Him permission. He awaits for your purchase, your signing of the permission and liability form to begin freeing your heart from blockages holding you back.
As a side note: This book is for all ages. As a homeschooling mom, I plan to use this as a supplemental Bible and health study so my kids grasp freedom in mind, body, and Spirit hopefully much younger than I did.
Fifty-six days seemed like a long time for a health program until I began working through the book.
The Wellness Revelation, (by Alisa Keeton, founder of Revelation Wellness, published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc., 245 pages), is not just another get-healthy book. It is a two month transformation in the way you think, act, feel, eat, move … The three requirements are to 1) show up, 2) Do the work, 3) Be real. This plan can be done with the book, with a church body or with a trained Revelation Wellness instructor.
Some of the basics of the program are similar to others I have worked through including moving/exercise, keeping track of what I eat and challenging myself. But this program is different in the approach: gentle, slow, thoughtful, prayerful. It also contains the elements of response, renewal, relating and reciprocating.
This is not a complete review. This is merely part one of a fuller review at the end of 56 days. I feel this book deserves my complete immersion into the program.
So far I have realized on thing, like I'm coming out of the dark green fog of self-sufficiency and pride: It's not about me doing more. It's not about me getting better. It's about me letting go, letting go and not adding to God's perfect grace. It's about accepting myself for who God says I am.
God takes control as I release it.
See you in a few months, DV.

Health and fitness has long been a part of my life. In fact, I entered college as a declared business major but instead graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science. When I realized that I could learn more about a subject that I already loved and even major in it, sounded like a win-win to me. The body and how it works has always been intriguing, especially how we can push our bodies, enduring pain, but come out on the other side stronger.
The Wellness Revelation is an 8 week journey designed to help jumpstart you towards a more healthier and whole lifestyle. While I didn’t implement the journey in my daily life, I did read through all the content with a critical eye given my background. I was pleasantly surprised at the plethora of good nuggets of truth in this book. What I loved most about this book and what I have learned over the years to be a crucial but often times overlooked point is how intertwined our physical and spiritual health are. She points out that, “Westerners are blessed to live in the land of plenty, but the land of plenty is slowly becoming a land of sickness and disease due to our overconsumption.” We have allowed greed and excess to consume us, forfeiting our spiritual obedience thus directly effecting our physical discipline. If you think for one minute that physical health and spiritual health aren’t connected, you’re sadly mistaken.
Alisa Keeton has done a superb job with this workbook and I have no doubt that placed in the hands of people looking for change as it pertains to their spiritual and physical wellness, that it could spark a revolution.
In my quest to be healthier, I picked up The Wellness Revelation by Alisa Keeton to find this book was much different than a book about weight loss.
This book is an eight week study in which we learn the living and practical truths of being healthy in our heart, our , our strength, and in our mind. We find ourselves being pointed to love others as we love ourselves. To love them as Jesus loves.
Each week readers will find themselves working through the following sections:
Reading – a devotional. Respond – by studying Scriptures and answering questions. Renew – through prayer, Relate – the practical application to their personal lives. Reciprocate – stories and testimonies.
I am finding myself challenged and appreciating the wisdom found on each page. I would recommend this book for both individual study although it would be wonderful for a group study as well. Her style of writing was comfortable and conversational, never cumbersome. Alisa Keeton challenges us to approach our health, fitness and weight loss goals in a new and godly way.
** In exchange for my honest review, Tyndale House Publishers provided me with a complimentary copy of this book.
I read this book with a friend who is one of the coaches for this program. On the whole this book was very encouraging and is not at all a diet book. It approaches health from a Proverbs 31 perspective, in my opinion. (She is not using the Proverbs 31 woman as her person or example. I made this connection.) I very much appreciate that it is focused on our relationship with YHWH and not on food, exercise, health, etc. While food, exercise and health are talked about, none of these things can be dealt with well or rightly unless our relationship with Yeshua is where it should be. Different people will get different things from the lessons based on where they are in their personal walk. For me some things were very obvious or I've already worked through relatively recently, so it felt simplistic, but others hit in just the right place to move me forward.
Because I've been doing a lot of research on health and wellness especially with food, I didn't completely agree on some of her conclusions in that arena. Some sections were also a bit of a stretch when interpreting Scripture, but on the whole it was really good. I'd give it 4.5 stars.
The Wellness Revelation is a wonderful self help, healthy living and inspirational book. Alisa Keeton is a certified fitness professional who helps to challenge and teach you as you work your way through your biggest fitness or spiritual goals. This book is an eight week journey that will help you lose what weighs you down so that you can love God, yourself and others. I like how each week starts with a bible verse and a story that helps you to understand the verse. Each week has many bible verses throughout, reflection, action plans and journal space. This book is unlike any other Bible Study I have done. It is a way to help you understand what is weighing you down in life and teaches you how to lose all the excess weight both physically and mentally. This book is all about what holds you back keeping you from being whole and teaches you how God’s love for you will help make you whole again. I highly recommend this book
- What did you like about the book and why? I like that this is faith based and that the author chooses to put God first in belief as well as life. The whole experience is refreshing and fulfilling with a result that is sure to please.
- What did you not like about the book and why? I think that it is a seriously faith based book that may be offputting to people who do not know God.
- What did you learn? The author is informative and really wants to help the reader to immerse their life in the path of losing more than just weight.
- To whom would you recommend this book and why? Any older age, that really needs to lose weight, but also the weight of the world. It is more of a heavy handed book towards the faith in God which is only going to be perfect if you believe.
This is hands down in my top 5! I had no idea when I picked up this book how it would change me and enrich my walk with Jesus. She has a way of building on each chapter and sharing the love of Jesus to motivate you to find wholeness. I was already fit, but still in bondage. This book has freed my heart so I can be healthy and whole to be used by God and experience His love. I love it so much It am becoming a RevFit instructor! You will not regret spending the time reading through this book. Even better if you do with a group! She gives you everything you need. Just have a humble heart ready and open to God. Transformation comes during application, so be ready to get moving, unload what weighs you down mentally, physically and spiritually and find freedom!
The Wellness Revelation is a life-changing book that truly lives up to it's subtitle - "Lose what weighs you down so you can love God, yourself, and others." This book is about so much more than weight loss and gets to the heart of the matter of what really drives us to obsess about or neglect our bodies. As a fitness trainer and coach, I love how the book includes a workout calendar with videos to walk the reader through every day of their journey. I loved the bible study portion and the reflective questions. Each chapter felt like it was written just for me, and after working with women for over 15 years I'm fairly certain others will feel the same way. I am so very thankful to Alisa and for this book and pray it changes the hearts of many.
I love the heart behind this book! It’s a breath of fresh air in this genre. Alisa seeks to point folks to being satisfied in Christ that they might love God and others well by caring for their physical health to the glory of God. Her Scripture usage wasn’t always faithful to the biblical context of passages, so I removed some stars for that. There are also some sections where the terminology seemed less helpful to me (more pop psychology-ish than biblical). However, the discerning reader will be edified by this book. Others may wish to read Elyse Fitzpatrick’s book, “Love to Eat, Hate to Eat”.
I love, love, love this book! If you are stuck in the battle of dieting verses a Healthy Lifestyle this book is for you! This book will show you how to be fit not only physically but spiritually! It shows us how to love others as we are loved by God! I am realizing I can have freedom from all the things that have been weighing me down! Thank you Alisa Keeton for sharing this with me and everyone who WILL find freedom through your words! The release date for this book is August 8th 2017!!! You can pre-order your copy today! Do it!! You won't be sorry!
Life-changing! As a fitness professional, I shamefully still struggle with overeating. "The Wellness Revelation" showed me how to fill my cravings in the Lord and be at peace with Him without using food as an emotional crutch. It not only helped me live more fully, but added value to my personal training business. I used the book as a guide for my clients, asking them the hard questions Alisa poses in the book. They have gained significant insight and freedom in their own lives, and I feel more empowered to help them as well. Thanks, Alisa!
Such an amazing book. It's not just about fitness, but will help you grow in ALL areas.
My favorite part is the workout calendar. You get a link to download the PDF and each day of the calendar is linked to a video from Alisa with coaching or encouragement, etc. Such added value.
When you realize everything boils down to your heart and nothing will change until you accept this fact. When you start looking inside first, everything else falls into place. Alisa Keeton is a gift to all and speaks such truth with authenticity. A must read if you are truly ready to change, knowing it will take being raw and real with yourself, but oh so worth it!
I would recommend this book to anyone who struggles with their weight and all that tries to keep them weighed down. I truly enjoyed this wellness revelation journey. A must read!
For years I have been wondering how to combine my faith and interest in fitness. Alisa Keeton has given me new insight into how that can be done. Now that I've read the book, I will go back an do the book.
I didn't do a great job of sticking to the weekly schedule and doing the reflection questions and Bible study so I'll want to go through it again to REALLY do it, but loved the book! Excited for changes :)
Maybe I just missed it but I didn’t think her use of certain scriptures was always on point and I guess I was looking for a more profound why behind caring for yourself physically. If you are a Christian I feel like a lot she says isn’t super big revelation.
I reallly liked this way of looking at weight loss and I think I have lost some of the things that were weighing me down as well as pounds. The focus, no matter what we are doing, needs to be on Him - seeking His will and His ways.
